Van Valkenburgh
I noted you connected Lois to that page and just scanning it, I saw Blaire Van Valkenburgh. Remembered the name. I think it is Lois' daughter, i.e. [1]. Your thoughts? SusunW (talk) 19:27, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
- It's a small world...[2] I think you are right. Plus your source states Calabasas which is near UCLA where the daughter teaches. Connections everywhere! TJMSmith (talk) 19:34, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
- It really is. I was so thrilled to discover Lois' ties to Jessie Jack Hooper, and now your link made us connect her daughter. Really love how this is working to improve the encyclopedia with all the links. Thank you so much! Would probably never have noticed, had you not added her to the surname page, as I don't like to do BLPs, so I hadn't included Lois' children. SusunW (talk) 19:47, 21 November 2020 (UTC)

DYK for Mauree Turner
On 30 November 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Mauree Turner, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Mauree Turner is the first publicly non-binary individual elected to a U.S. state legislature? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Mauree Turner. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Mauree Turner), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

George Delahunty
I see that in 2018 you created the page for George Delahunty. However, it's not obvious to me that he satisfies the notability criterion. Could you explain, please?Athel cb (talk) 08:52, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Athel cb: Hi Athel cb! Delahunty meets WP:PROF#5 as the Lilian Welsh Professor of Biology plus he has an entry in the 2008 edition of American Men and Women of Science. Best! TJMSmith (talk) 12:45, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

Marge Frantz
I told you she was notable. I was totally fascinated with her story. Thank you for finding her. SusunW (talk) 18:20, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- @SusunW: I'm so excited you wrote this article! Amazing article (as always). I didn't realize she also participated in the anti-poll tax movement, although it's not surprising considering her family. You found even more sources than I had. I'll probably add additional info about her to father's article that is currently at GAN. This article is likely GA-quality too! I tried looking into her mother, Esther Josephine Gelders (née Frank). She was actively involved in activism alongside her husband (and daughters) and worked as an official for the National Youth Administration. TJMSmith (talk) 18:29, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, I found a bunch of things you had clipped. The more I read, the more I wanted to tell her story. There's a photo of her protesting (the one with the square drawn around her) and I'd love to have that for the article. Searching for the original from the Daily Worker, but who knows if I'll find it. SusunW (talk) 18:32, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- @SusunW: It might be worth adding a little more info on why she left the Communist party in 1956 after being such an active member previously. Her obituary says "In 1956, disillusioned by events that had come to light in the Soviet Union, Marge left the Communist Party and began a new period of intellectual exploration." [3]. New Page Patrol December Newsletter
Hello TJMSmith,
- Year in review
It has been a productive year for New Page Patrol as we've roughly cut the size of the New Page Patrol queue in half this year. We have been fortunate to have a lot of great work done by Rosguill who was the reviewer of the most pages and redirects this past year. Thanks and credit go to JTtheOG and Onel5969 who join Rosguill in repeating in the top 10 from last year. Thanks to John B123, Hughesdarren, and Mccapra who all got the NPR permission this year and joined the top 10. Also new to the top ten is DannyS712 bot III, programmed by DannyS712 which has helped to dramatically reduce the number of redirects that have needed human patrolling by patrolling certain types of redirects (e.g. for differences in accents) and by also patrolling editors who are on on the redirect whitelist.

9 | Hughesdarren (talk) | 4,520 | Patrol Page Curation |
10 | Utopes (talk) | 3,958 | Patrol Page Curation |
- Reviewer of the Year
John B123 has been named reviewer of the year for 2020. John has held the permission for just over 6 months and in that time has helped cut into the queue by reviewing more than 18,000 articles. His talk page shows his efforts to communicate with users, upholding NPP's goal of nurturing new users and quality over quantity.
- NPP Technical Achievement Award
As a special recognition and thank you DannyS712 has been awarded the first NPP Technical Achievement Award. His work programming the bot has helped us patrol redirects tremendously - more than 60,000 redirects this past year. This has been a large contribution to New Page Patrol and definitely is worthy of recognition.

Speedy deletion nomination of Michele Evans
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Michele Evans requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Onel5969 TT me 03:28, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

Nationality
I have no clue how to do a wikidata entry on any of these articles, so for instance when I move Ecuadorian nationality law, can you fix it? Also, I wonder if they all should have redirects to Nationality law of X. I would never think to search for fooian nationality, but since that is how the ones that exist are already on WP, I am following that model. Your thoughts? SusunW (talk) 15:30, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
- SusunW, Often, bots will comb through and automatically create a Wikidata items for new articles. I checked the preexisting Argentine nationality law Wikidata item. Looks like they should all be "categorized" as an instance of "nationality law." I'll go through and make sure that happens once you are closer to finished the different nationalities! IMO, your proposed redirects make perfect sense. Not sure how the naming model was created, maybe the idea was to keep it as short as possible (avoid the word "of"). Truly fantastic contributions SusunW! TJMSmith (talk) 19:31, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks. You know I appreciate your help more than I can ever say, in truth, I rely on it. Slow going, but I am making progress on moving the former Spanish colonies to mainspace. As there are so many overlaps, it helps to do them in groups of similar origin. I am learning a lot. Did not know that they had exclusionary laws for different ethnic groups and that seems incredibly important to point out, as it gives us a way to measure if we are making progress globally. Isa Briones
Greetings. This edit confuses me—Briones is clearly an American person of Filipino descent, and the category is active. Why remove it? ATS (talk) 04:53, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
- ATS, Per WP:SUBCAT. She is already in the category American actresses of Filipino descent which is under the umbrella of American people of Filipino descent. Similar to we wouldn't also have the category American people of Asian descent since she is already in a subcategory of it. Thanks for asking! TJMSmith (talk) 12:35, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
- Appreciate the explanation, thanks. ATS (talk) 15:36, 3 March 2021 (UTC) 🖖🏻
S Patricia Becerra
You're totally right, apparently Scopus can't keep track of her authorship and has her separately as "Patricia Becerra" (apparently due to this paper) and "Sofia Becerra", although it did somehow correctly curate "Susan P. Becerra". Sorry about that! JoelleJay (talk) 22:17, 6 March 2021 (UTC)
- JoelleJay, No worries! These different databases for tracking papers and calculating H-indexes can be inconsistent. Thanks for your attention to STEM professionals! TJMSmith (talk) 00:07, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
Requested Article Creation
Hi TJMSmith! I NEED YOUR HELP! So I noticed that you created the page for Jawline (film), and I also saw you did like several other youtubers! Long story short, I've literally been trying to get an article page for Michael Weist, one of the stars of Jawline, and it's been sooo hard. It keeps getting deleted. I'm literally such a big fan of Bryce Hall, Noah, Michael, Dixie and like I wanted to get one for Michael up but I can't!! I knew you obviously knew about like internet culture and everything and I was wondering if you could make a page for Michael for me!! I can't seem to figure it out :( I LOVED jawline soooo much - thank you for making that page! I wanna make a page for Austyn and the director and everyone too, eventually, but it seems I still have much to learn. Would you mind making a page for Michael? I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you so much for your help! I am worn and leaving it for the night. I decided "History of" wasn't necessary as I covered both. Work your magic. Obviously, I did not fix the US/U.S. discrepancies. I type as I think and I truly only sometimes remember to make it consistent ;) SusunW (talk) 23:12, 18 March 2021 (UTC)
- SusunW, I was thinking along the same lines regarding the title, especially because it is half history and half present-day. You've constructed a comprehensive/strong article (as always). I'll take a closer look. TJMSmith (talk) 23:16, 18 March 2021 (UTC)

Greetings
Hello TJM. In reference to taxation in Puerto Rico, that article was a mess and the current version is the one that resulted from a recent get-together of 3 editors HERE during a week-long revamp to hammer out a more accurate, more thorough, and --perhaps most important -- a fully cited version. I was part of that group. While you maybe right some parts may read like an essay, I've removed your OR claim because you failed to tag those statements that you found aren't supported by a cite. If you can identify them, please tag the lines with inline tags instead and I will look for the missing cite(s) or remove the unsupported claims you inline tag. BTW, I see you already removed one or more of the essay-like statements; so, while you are at it, it would also be helpful if you could also tag (alternatively, identify in the TP) which particular section(s) still read essay-like so they can be addressed and re-work. As an FYI, the "pre-revamp" version (25 October 2020) had 35 cites, but the re-work more than doubled that to 78. And, I say 25 Oct 2020 because it was then that several of us became interested enough in this article to start making significant cited edits, which culminated in a decision to trash everything and proceed with the 29 October thru 18 November 2020 overhaul. - Hi TJMSmith; I've added a couple of [failed verification] templates in the "Career" section because the claims made in the article aren't in either of the sources. it might be best to fix these problems before nominating the article for GA status. Good luck with the article and Cheers, Baffle☿gab 23:18, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
