Thank you for standing for arbitrator. I am far away from it all (travel, mourning), not in the mood, so just an informal question you can answer or ignore:

What does this 2024 DYK tell you about infoboxes for classical composers in 2024? -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:22, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I assume you mean the article and not the DYK hook itself (which has nothing to do with infoboxes). I suppose the article doesn't really tell me anything about infoboxes for classical composers in 2024, which... I guess is a good thing? I don't see any evidence of warring or dispute over the infobox. Primefac (talk) 16:43, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I meant the hook mentioning 5 composers whose talk pages might tell you something about the degree of disagreement. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:02, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I did not think to look at every talk page, will do so in the near future but I will be largely unavailable for probably 24 48 hours. Primefac (talk) 12:22, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
story · music · places
How about now? - November was rich in sadness and happiness for me, expressed in music. Regarding my (archived question), I found one so far who looked deeply into the matter, Simonm223. There are two composers on the Main page today, Siegfried Thiele and Aaron Copland. I find the response of my friend Jerome Kohl to a question on Copland's article talk promising. What do you think? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:17, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is quite refreshing to see discussions on talk pages that are civil, even if the participants disagree. I believe I said something similar in the last round of elections, but it does appear that the age of edit warring over infoboxes has passed. While it's probably not a hill I would die on, I will admit that I like seeing an infobox at the top of biographies, if only to get those "fast facts" about a subject, so to see them in all of these pages shows that general opinions may be shifting from those of a decade ago. Primefac (talk) 17:08, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! - I agree. A few editors of a few FAs don't agree, and they revert a new set of people each year who are used to infoboxes and never heard of a conflict, - I was one of those in 2012 ;) - Today's story comes from a DYK about a concert that fascinated me, and you can listen! For my taste, the hook has too little music - I miss the unusual scoring and the specific dedication - but it comes instead with a name good for viewcount. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:41, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
On the Main page today Jean Sibelius on his birthday. Listening to Beethoven's Fifth from the opening of Notre-Dame de Paris. We sang in choirs today. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:03, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As it should be. That sounds like a delightful day. Primefac (talk) 11:32, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! - Listen today to the (new) Perplexities after Escher. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:14, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Very interesting! Primefac (talk) 13:01, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! - Listen today to Beethoven's 3rd cello sonata, on his birthday - it was a hook in the 2020 DYK set when his 250th birthday was remembered. I picked a recording with Antônio Meneses, because he was on my sad list this year, and I was in Brazil (see places), and I love his playing. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:59, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I come to fix the cellist's name, with a 10-years-old DYK and new pics - look for red birds --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:03, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Showrunner

[edit]

Hi, I saw your name in the revdel-user caegory. I saw this today and wonder if that oldid should be revdel'd? Not sure how the editor found that, may be worth the revdel to WP:DENY future attention? Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 12:43, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Nah, it's just silly nonsense, and old enough that it's more quaint than anything. Thanks for checking though. Primefac (talk) 12:54, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

STN template

[edit]

Did you do something weird to the STN template? It now inserts a link to your merge proposal. See Sunrise Izumo for an example. Isaac Rabinovitch (talk) 17:16, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That is intentional, yes. I used the smallest message to minimize the visible impact. Primefac (talk) 17:27, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your "minimal impact" makes the article very difficult to read. What's the purpose of inserting a link every time the template is used? Isaac Rabinovitch (talk) 18:25, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The intention is to let people who use the template know that the template has been nominated for merging. Primefac (talk) 18:26, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Stop starting an edit war for no reason. If you have a reason to undo edits, take it to the talk page --2A02:A46A:194C:0:3535:788:EFF2:8E65 (talk) 08:36, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I did not start the edit war, I ended the edit war. Primefac (talk) 11:20, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You just undid me fixing a vandalization by another user and then protected the page so the vandalization can't be undone, all while ignoring the ongoing discussion on the talk page. Please seize your behavior immediately. --2A02:A46A:194C:0:E1CB:6288:72F8:196B (talk) 19:08, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:WRONGVERSION. Primefac (talk) 11:20, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just a note, anonymous IP editor to my talk page, that a) I have not changed a single word of content that you added in your initial post, and b) I am allowed to move content on my talk page wherever I want, provided that I do not change the content added by other editors. I do not want your post in two separate headers at the top of my page, because it is neither chronologically nor visually pleasing. I have responded to both of your concerns, and am more than happy to continue discussing them where they are. Primefac (talk) 21:01, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:The Penn Medicine BioBank

[edit]

Earwig showed 94.7% copyright violation on Draft:The Penn Medicine BioBank copied from https://pmbb.med.upenn.edu/publications.php Theroadislong (talk) 22:16, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, and? I removed that text and a few other paragraphs and now the highest percent match is 7%, matching little more than a phrase. As I said in the decline, it reads like the rest is copied from somewhere, I just don't know where. Primefac (talk) 22:25, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Much of it seems to be a close paraphrasing of https://pmbb.med.upenn.edu/research.php - and the headings in the draft are copied verbatim, particularly the headings in question format, such as "Can genes help calculate your cancer risk?". ~Anachronist (talk) 22:33, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I didn't notice you had removed text. Theroadislong (talk) 22:42, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, and apologies for the tone... that's what happens when I edit after bed time! Primefac (talk) 12:54, 11 December 2024 (UTC) [reply]
Indeed, and I don't necessarily disagree with rejection of the draft until it gets rewritten. Primefac (talk) 12:54, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is a case of WP:TNT. Typical crap masquerading as notability, with an overwhelming number of citations that have nothing at all to do with the subject. It's like someone told an AI "paraphrase this page and find sources". The org likely is notable, but that draft certainly doesn't demonstrate it. ~Anachronist (talk) 19:16, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, once I get home I'll nuke it. Primefac (talk) 19:55, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Primefac -- Could you have another look at this one, please. It seems to be creating blank pages in error as well as doing a great many cosmetic edits of little or no obvious value. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 16:55, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep an eye on the message you left on their talk page. Primefac (talk) 17:27, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Noting that I have fixed the issue of page creations. I plant to some supervised runs for the cosmetic issue. Sorry again! ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 12:33, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to hear it. Primefac (talk) 13:00, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Primefac I have a quick question. Do Template Redirects Gen fixes come under cosmetic or not. WP:Redirect#Template redirects does not clearly state if it is needed or just helpful. Simply stating, does this come under cosmetic or not. AWB did not automatically skip it, despite a cosmetic only skip option being enabled, hence the confusion. Thanks! ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 13:10, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, changing a template redirect is considered cosmetic, so that diff would be considered to be one. Primefac (talk) 13:21, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see. Will try to prevent such edits coming forward. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 13:21, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Bunnypranav, the bot's four most recent edits ([1], [2], [3], and [4]), made two hours after the above response, appear to be cosmetic. – Jonesey95 (talk) 19:53, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Bunnypranav, could you please indicate which CW errors were supposed to be fixed in those four edits? Primefac (talk) 20:04, 12 December 2024 (UTC) I didn't think to look at the timestamps, striking comment/question. Primefac (talk) 12:27, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jonesey95 The edits were made on the 11th, before I found this malfunction. Above replies of mine were on the 12th. The bot has not edited a mainspace page at all on the 12th. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 01:40, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My mistake; I read the date wrong. – Jonesey95 (talk) 01:43, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see how a "No consensus" result was in that discussion. 2vs1 for deletion should at least resulted in a relisting. Gonnym (talk) 19:13, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I took all three discussions into consideration, given they were all making essentially the same argument with the same replies. Primefac (talk) 19:16, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, one editor chose not to comment on this one, while they did on the other two. Seeing as how this is an unused sandbox that the author themselves didn't even comment, while in the other two, the author did, it seems their choice not to keep this one, was not by mistake. Gonnym (talk) 19:18, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Situational question

[edit]

Have a question about a situation I've run across and would like guidance. Not sure if its a "Take to AN for clarification from two accounts, report both users for possible meat or possible noncontributing behavior, or an ignore it for odd but not actionable behavior at this time" situation.

Person A created their account in November, made 6 edits to their userpage, and has since made 388 edits to Person B's sandbox. Person B (created Dec 2022) is still actively editing, made 20 or so edits to mainspace a year or two ago, but has made 5900+ edits to their own sandbox. When I asked Person A last month if there was any connection between the two accounts or that was also their account, I received no response. I have not asked Person B anything since they haven't done anything questionable other than the predominate sandbox editing.

Your, or any TPS thoughts on this situation? Thanks, happy holidays! Zinnober9 (talk) 18:02, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My immediate thoughts are that it is/was two students working on a school project. I would probably ask B what their intentions are, especially if they're not actually editing other than their userspace. Primefac (talk) 18:53, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, their sandbox content didn't give me the impression of student project since it was a Big Brother reality show type of page in Spanish with contestant details and tables with elimination status by week. I've run into a fair number of student assignments here and I can typically identify those by their language, focus, and the not infrequent "In Conclusion" section. I'll ask Person B to clarify their intent and connection to Person A and see if I get any response. Thank you. Zinnober9 (talk) 21:32, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Primefac, from working at TFD to ArbCom to your duties as a 'crat, you do a lot around here and it is noticed and appreciated! Thank you for finally completing the merge of {{clickable button 2}} to {{clickable button}}, thank you for all of the by-its-nature very hidden WP:OS work you do, and I have enjoyed working with you to sort out the TLTs which might need renaming.
