Re: Joplin tornado
I think it may be worth noting that the EF5 rating was put into question; however, since NWS Springfield followed up and stated that the tornado was still considered EF5, I don't think it warrants being "colored" as a possibly not being of such intensity. WikiCup 2013 June newsletter
We are down to our final 16: the 2013 semi-finals are upon us. A score of 321 was required to survive round 3, further cementing this as the most competitive WikiCup yet; round 3 was survived in 2012 with 243 points, in 2011 with 76 points and in 2010 with 250 points. The change may in part be to do with the fact that more articles are now awarded bonus points, in addition to more competitive play. Reaching the final has, in the past, required 573 points (2012, a 135% increase on the score needed to reach round 4), 150 points (2011, a 97% increase) and 417 points (2010, a 72% increase). This round has seen over a third of participants claiming points for featured articles (with seven users claiming for multiple featured articles) and most users have also gained bonus points. However, the majority of points continue to come from good articles, followed by did you know articles. In this round, every content type was utilised by at least one user, proving that the WikiCup brings together content contributors from all corners of the project.
Round 3 saw a number of contributions of note. Figureskatingfan (submissions) claimed the first featured topic points in this year's competition for her excellent work on topics related to Maya Angelou, the noted American author and poet. We have also continued to see high-importance articles improved as part of the competition: Ealdgyth (submissions) was awarded a thoroughly well-earned 560 points for her featured article Middle Ages and 102 points for her good article Battle of Hastings. Good articles James Chadwick and Stanislaw Ulam netted Hawkeye7 (submissions) 102 and 72 points respectively, while 72 points were awarded to Piotrus (submissions) for each of Władysław Sikorski and Emilia Plater, both recently promoted to good article status. Collaborative efforts between WikiCup participants have continued, with, for example, Casliber (submissions) and Sasata (submissions) being awarded 180 points each for their featured article on Boletus luridus.
A rules reminder: content promoted between rounds can be claimed in the round after the break, but not the round before. The case in point is content promoted on the 29/30 June, which may be claimed in this round. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. We are currently seeing concern about the amount of time people have to wait for reviews, especially at GAC- if you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to reduce the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. I'll just be upfront about this, this article is not ready for FAC and truly shouldn't be a GA either, in my opinion. I suggest that you withdraw the article from FAC and take a good look at it. There are numerous issues across the board with this article and it would take an unreasonable amount of effort to fix them up within the time it would be at FAC. I personally have major issues with the haphazard focus of the article, namely the meteorological synopsis. For April 27, I see no mention of the three waves of activity that occurred that day, most notably a complete lack of mention of the MCS in the early morning. Information within this section as a whole is mostly leftover from reports going on at the time and do not represent the final analyses on the event. As for the notable tornado section, many of these need to be reworked. The Hackleburg tornado's section is grossly overweight, being the exact same size as its sub-article and gives it undue weight. Despite this weight, it's a big hunk of fluff. It's just an excess account of its track and accounts of the damage surveyed.
I could honestly keep going since I have a major bone to pick with this article but it's not worth my time to tear it apart. I'm sorry, but it's just not close to FAC status. If you really want to go further with this article, send it to peer review to be cleaned up first. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 20:42, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Hello! I see that you deleted the partial quotes which had been added to the "reaction" section of this article. Actually there was a consensus developing at the talk page that a single-sentence quote or paraphrase from Obama and Brewer would be acceptable. Please weigh in there; I for one would like to restore the short quotes you deleted, and was in the process of tidying them up when I got an edit-conflict which was your deletion. Thanks. --MelanieN (talk) 03:48, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to The Big One (NASCAR) may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on April 25–28, 2011 tornado outbreak. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. JamesBWatson (talk) 10:06, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

Um, no i'm not currently a violator of those rules. Maybe in the past I have, but not none of those apply this edit in any way shape or form. I'm simply trying to keep the info accurate, and I haven't violated ANY of those rules so that is a pointless message that you just sent me.
Though regarding the 1942 tornado, I will compromise and leave the title alone, but mention Lacon in the description. I have to ask, do you actually know anything about this particular tornado? The reason I ask, is that it is a well documented fact that this tornado struck the town of Lacon, sweeping away several homes and destroying much of the town. Why list only the counties? The 1977 Bham tornado isn't listed as "Jefferson County, AL" , and the 2011 El Reno-Piedmont tornado isn't listed as "Canadian-Kingfisher County, OK". Explain to me why I can only list the counties in this case, and not the town that was impacted? United States Man,
Your edit is clearly not from a "neutral point of view" (NPOV) in accordance with Wikipedia's written policy, but is completely biased in favor of one individual and their action in the controversy, which is not constructive at all. If you can reword my edit to be more constructive and neutral, then fine.

The Big One (NASCAR)
I have reverted your recent edits to this article, which is still in need of attention. The subject of the article is the term The Big One" and therefore should contain;
- how the term came to be coined
- a definition of the term and the criteria that a crash must meet to be termed as "The Big One"
- what causes a "Big One" if there is a source to support that
- controversy regarding use of the term in marketing
- notable examples of crashes which meet the criteria for "The Big One"
To be notable the crashes need to be sourced. Adding a long list of crashes with no clear definition of what constitutes "The Big One" and without any sources is original research, and POV. I am happy to help improve this article if you can identify sources that support notability. Flat Out let's discuss it 02:22, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to The Big One (NASCAR). Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. Flat Out let's discuss it 03:03, 27 July 2013 (UTC)

Article of the month – Tim Richmond, a good article
Tim Richmond (June 7, 1955 - August 13, 1989) was an American race car driver from Ashland, Ohio. He competed in IndyCar racing before transferring to NASCAR's Winston Cup Series (now Sprint Cup Series). Richmond was the first driver to change from open wheel racing to NASCAR stock cars, which has since become an industry trend. He won the 1980 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year award and had 13 victories during eight NASCAR seasons. Richmond achieved his top NASCAR season in 1986 when he finished third in points. He won seven races that season, more than any other driver on the tour. When he missed the season-opening Daytona 500 in February 1987, media reported that he had pneumonia. The infection most likely resulted from his compromised immune system, which had been weakened by AIDS. The disease would drastically shorten his life. Despite the state of his health, Richmond competed in eight races in 1987, winning two events and one pole position before his final race in August of that year. He attempted a comeback in 1988 before NASCAR banned him for testing positive for a banned substance. Richmond grew up in a wealthy family and lived a debauched lifestyle, earning him the nickname "Hollywood". In describing Richmond's influence in the sport of racing, Lowe's Motor Speedway president Humpy Wheeler said: "We've never had a race driver like Tim in stock car racing. He was almost a James Dean-like character." When Richmond was cast for a bit part in the 1983 movie Stroker Ace, "He fell right in with the group working on the film," said director Hal Needham. Cole Trickle, the main character in the movie Days of Thunder, played by Tom Cruise, was loosely based on Richmond and his interaction with Harry Hyde and Rick Hendrick. Forgive me, but if it's the links you're referring to I really don't see the point of using links like inHg
when inHg
is a redirect which takes you to the same place. And SW
takes you to something which is really a disambiguation page - if you don't like my SW
it should surely be SW
(these probably ought to be merged, but that is another issue).

WikiCup 2013 July newsletter
We're halfway through this year's penultimate round, and the competition is moving along well. Pool A's Sasata (submissions) currently leads overall, while Pool B's Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) is second. Both leaders are WikiCup veterans, and both have already scored over 600 points this month. If the round were to end today, Miyagawa (submissions), with 274 points, would be the lowest-scoring participant to make it through. This indicates that participants will need a score comparable to last year's (573, the highest ever) to qualify for the final. The high scores this year are a testament both to the quality of participants and to the increased focus on significant content (eligible for bonus points) in this year's competition. So far this round, both Sasata and Cwmhiraeth (submissions) have made up over half of their score through bonus points, with, for example, high importance FA koala earning Sasata a total of 440 points (from a multiplier of 4.4) and high-importance GA sea earning Cwmhiraeth a total of 216 points (from a multiplier of 7.2). Other articles on important topics submitted this round include a featured article on the Norman conquest of England by Ealdgyth (submissions), and good articles on Nobel laureate in literature Henryk Sienkiewicz, Nobel laureate in physics Hans Bethe, and the noted Japanese aircraft carrier Hiryū. These articles are by Piotrus (submissions), Hawkeye7 (submissions) and Sturmvogel_66 respectively.
Other than that, there is not much to report! Tropical Storm Infoboxes (reprise)
The only place that an official gust velocity is given is on the Forecast Advisory, currently as 80 knots; so that must be taken as the direct source for all other units. The relevant calculations are therefore (I use Excel for calculations, BTW):
- mph 80 × 1.15078 = 92.0624, rounded to 90
- km/h 80 × 1.852 = 148.16, rounded to 150
The fact that the derived mph figure does not then round to the km/h figure is the principal delight of rounded arithmetic.
What kind of number has four digits but no comma? Well, the distances in the NHC's Public Advisories do. Millibar figures do. Distances in Infoboxes have done in the past, as far back as I can find (e.g.[1]). It stops the infoboxes being any wider than they have to be. The Manual of Style says "Numbers with four digits to the left of the decimal point may or may not be delimited (e.g. 1250 or 1,250)."
Be all that as it may, there is one sure way I can avoid causing you any further irritation in the Atlantic or East Pacific in the future. Farewell.--Keith Edkins ( Talk ) 17:58, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

Article of the month – 2010 Emory Healthcare 500, a Good Article
The 2010 Emory Healthcare 500 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race that was held on September 5, 2010 at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia. Contested over 325 laps, it was the twenty-fifth race of the 2010 Sprint Cup Series season. The race was won by Tony Stewart, for the Stewart Haas Racing team. Carl Edwards finished second, and Jimmie Johnson, who started seventh, clinched third. Pole position driver Denny Hamlin maintained his lead on the first lap to begin the race, as Ryan Newman, who started in the second position remained behind him. Afterward, Newman became the leader. On lap 128, Hamlin had an engine failure, finishing forty-third. Later in the race Tony Stewart led a race high of seventy-five laps. Stewart retained the first position on a final restart to clinch his third win at Atlanta Motor Speedway. There were eight cautions and twenty-seven lead changes among nine different drivers throughout the course of the race. It was Tony Stewart's first win of the season and the thirty-eighth of his career. The result moved him up two spots to fourth in the Drivers' Championship, 283 points behind of leader Kevin Harvick and fourteen ahead of Carl Edwards. Chevrolet maintained its lead in the Manufacturers' Championship, thirty-two ahead of Toyota and sixty-six ahead of Ford, with eleven races remaining in the season. A total of 93,200 people attended the race, while 5.516 million watched it on television. WikiCup 2013 August newsletter
This year's final is upon us. Our final eight, in order of last round's score, are:
- Hawkeye7 (submissions), a WikiCup newcomer who has contributed on topics of military history and physics, including a number of high-importance topics. Good articles have made up the bulk of his points, but he has also scored a great deal of bonus points. He has the second highest score overall so far, with more than 3000 points accumulated.
- Casliber (submissions), another WikiCup veteran who reached the finals in 2012, 2011 and 2010. He writes on a variety of topics including botany, mycology and astronomy, and has claimed the highest or joint highest number of featured articles every round so far this year. He has the third highest score overall, with just under 3000 points accumulated.
- Cwmhiraeth (submissions), 2012 WikiCup champion, who writes mostly on marine biology. She has also contributed to high-importance topics, seeing huge numbers of bonus points for high-importance featured and good articles. Previous rounds have seen her scoring the most bonus points, with scoring spread across did you knows, good articles and featured articles.
- Sasata (submissions), a WikiCup veteran who finished in second place in 2012, and competed as early as 2009. He writes articles on biology, especially mycology, and has scored highly for a number of collaborations at featured article candidates.
- Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), the winner of the 2010 competition. His contributions mostly concern Naval history, and he has scored a very large number of points for good articles and good article reviews in every round. He is the highest scorer overall this year, with over 3500 points in total.
- Ealdgyth (submissions), who is competing in the WikiCup for the second time, though this will be her first time in the final. A regular at FAC, she is mostly interested in British medieval history, and has scored very highly for some top-importance featured articles on the topic.
- Miyagawa (submissions), a finalist in 2012 and 2011. He writes on a broad variety of topics, with many of this year's points coming from good articles about Star Trek. Good articles make up the bulk of his points, and he had the most good articles back in round 2; he was also the highest scorer for DYK in rounds 1 and 2.
- Adam Cuerden (submissions) has previously been involved with the WikiCup, but hasn't participated for a number of years. He scores mostly from restoration work leading to featured picture credits, but has also done some article writing and reviewing.
We say goodbye to eight great participants who did not qualify for the final: Piotrus (submissions), Figureskatingfan (submissions), ThaddeusB (submissions), Dana boomer (submissions), Status (submissions), Ed! (submissions), 12george1 (submissions), Calvin999 (submissions). Having made it to this stage is still an excellent achievement, and you can leave with your heads held high. We hope to see you all again next year. Signups are now open for the 2014 WikiCup, which will begin on 1 January. All Wikipedians, whatever their interest or level of experience, are warmly invited to participate in next year's competition.
This last month has seen some incredible contributions; for instance, Cwmhiraeth's Starfish and Ealdgyth's Battle of Hastings—two highly important, highly viewed pages—made it to featured article status. It would be all too easy to focus solely on these stunning achievements at the expense of those participants working in lower-scoring areas, when in fact all WikiCup participants are doing excellent work. A mention of everything done is impossible, but here are a few: Last round saw the completion of several good topics (on the 1958, 1959 and 1962 Atlantic hurricane seasons) to which 12george1 had contributed. Calvin999 saw "S&M" (song), on which he has been working for several years, through to featured article status on its tenth try. Figureskatingfan continued towards her goal of a broad featured/good topic on Maya Angelou, with two featured and four good articles. ThaddeusB contributed significantly to over 20 articles which appeared on the main page's "in the news" section. Adam Cuerden continued to restore a large number of historical images, resulting in over a dozen FP credits this round alone. The WikiCup is not just about top-importance featured articles, and the work of all of these users is worthy of commendation.
Finally, the usual notices: If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to reduce the review backlogs! Reversions without basis
We are trying to keep a neutral viewpoint here, and we are not going to just focus on one viewpoint about the damage if there are multiple viewpoints among experts. I don't know why you think a news article from the Weather Channel would hold precedence over the official NWS survey. Just because you don't agree with it personally doesn't mean you get to remove it. Sharkguy05 (talk) 05:06, 1 September 2013 (UTC)Sharkguy05
It is in no way, shape, or form a text-based opinion, because it is a sourced fact. The official NWS Springfield survey map has a solid swath of EF5 damage from St.Johns to the industrial park. That's EF5 damage through more than 3/4 of the city. I'm not backing down on this because I know i'm in the right here. There is NO way we are going to only mention the viewpoint expressed in the weather channel article, which is much less reliable/official than the actual NWS survey. That is not how this website works. You are making your bias way to obvious. Sharkguy05 (talk) 05:56, 1 September 2013 (UTC)Sharkguy05
Dates
Please dont remove systems and call them gone until they have. While Yutu has weakened into a tropical depression, the JMA still warning on it via their marine warnings available on their website. Oh and im not sure how much more it will be able to be expanded until next year, since the JTWC did not monitor it on their STWA until late Sunday.Jason Rees (talk) 21:16, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
- In future Id suggest that you check the latest marine forecast from the JMA and the history of the page, before you decide to accuse me of jumping all over you and telling me that its all my fault that the season effects box had a dissipation date. Also can you please stop adding useless tags to the page since there is an incomplete tag up the top and help to expand the season - its way too much for just a few editors to do.Jason Rees (talk) 21:39, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

If you look at the article now it is pretty much the same info I had put in that you labeled as "part of this is untrue and it is entirely unnecessary". It does not bother me as what I said was the truth, what bothers me is that you would jump to the conclusions that the reliable source I used and what I read on the NHC's website were false about it regenerating into a P-T cyclone. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 18:15, 16 September 2013 (UTC)

WikiCup 2013 September newsletter
In 30 days, we will know the identity of our 2013 WikiCup champion. Cwmhiraeth (submissions) currently leads; if that lead is held, she will become the first person to have won the WikiCup twice. Sasata (submissions), Hawkeye7 (submissions)—who has never participated in the competition before—and Casliber (submissions) follow. The majority of points in this round have come from a mix of good articles and bonus points. This final round is seeing contributions to a number of highly important topics; recent submissions include Phoenix (constellation) (FA by Casliber), Ernest Lawrence (GA by Hawkeye7), Pinniped, and red fox (both GAs by Sasata).
The did you know (DYK) eligibility criteria have recently changed, meaning that newly passed good articles are accepted as "new" for did you know purposes. However, in the interests of not changing the WikiCup rules mid-competition, please note that only articles eligible for DYK under the old system (that is, newly created articles or 5x expansions) will be eligible for points in this year's WikiCup. We do, however, have time to discuss how this new system will work for next year's competition; a discussion will be opened in due course. On that note, thoughts are welcome on changes you'd like to see for next year. What worked? What didn't work? What would you like to see more of? What would you like to see less of? All Wikipedians, new or old, are also warmly invited to sign up for the 2014 WikiCup.
If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. Hi there. It has seemed that you have accused my of sock puppetry, due to my loss of my other account. I'd like to say because I did loose my other account, which was paideguinha. I've sent a password request, but since I had a different email, which I forgot now the current password to. paideguinha is my current name for my Youtube and twitter. Apparently, you've accused me of being a person I haven't heard of, which is Earth100. I don't know who he is, but you've said I have used same grammar as Earth100. I've just made "ItsPaide" right now. I'm just about to check Earth100 right currently.
EDIT: So he also is in interest of tropical cyclones too. If I were Earth100, I would've said that Earth100 was my old account, not paideguinha. I used paideguinha for creating articles about stars. Anyway, Earth100 lives in Hong Kong, China apparently. I live in the US in Florida. The only article I've created is in my user page. I would've included all the articles that I've made if I were Earth100. I don't even know how to add photos because my account hasn't been confirmed. Please understand that I am NOT Earth100. I would've said that my old account was Earth100. Thanks. ItsPaide (talk) 21:52, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
Bising
Assuming that Bisings section can be expanded out to a level where we are comfortable with keeping it in the main storms section, do we really need to be adding brackets to note that PAGASA named it when we dont do it for CPHC or IMD namings that affect systems in the WPAC. (Abliet in the case of the IMD - there are only 2 cases to worry about Jal and Philyan)Jason Rees (talk) 17:20, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
- Your argument is that too all of us the brackets () show that the Philippines names it while non brackets show that the JMA named it which i can respect, but imo it falls down when you ask does an outsider really know that? Also consider the cases of Jal and Philyan which were named by the IMD does an outsider know that they werent named by the JMA or PAGASA. As for the Other Storms your comments have been noted and tbh im thinking along the same lines and have found a few references that will ease the problem slightly.Jason Rees (talk) 17:56, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
- This is a problem faced by the non NHC side of the project as a whole when there is no name or designation in the origin basin but is named later on. I personally prefer calling such systems by their proper name rather than just Tropical Depression or Tropical Low since we can only do that once per season without having problems with the section title.Jason Rees (talk) 18:57, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
- Generally speaking i have no problems adding a few details on where it was named to the summary - i think when i did the PTS section for Phailin included a line about it moving into the NIO and it gradually developing into VSCS Phailin.Jason Rees (talk) 19:27, 14 October 2013 (UTC)

I think it does suggest possible F5/EF5 intensity, and that this tornado lands in the fuzzy area where there is a good chance that experts might disagree on a rating. TornadoLGS (talk) 01:45, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

2013 PTS Timeline
Can you check the October section and make sure im on the right tracks with it. Personally I'm not sure about the inclusion of the different SSHWS categories - i think id rather just put TY STY and peak intensity down for JTWC. Regards.Jason Rees (talk) 05:01, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
- Ok thanks for the views - im aiming to get it as complete as i can before possibly using it to condense the PTS down.Jason Rees (talk) 05:19, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

Congratulations to everyone who has been successful in this year's WikiCup, whether you made it to the final rounds or not, and a particular congratulations to the newcomers to the WikiCup who have achieved this year. Thanks to all who have taken part and helped out with the competition. While it has been an excellent year, errors have opened up the judges' eyes to the need for a third judge, and it is with pleasure that we announce that experienced WikiCup participant Miyagawa will be acting as a judge from now on. We hope you will all join us in welcoming him to the team.
Next year's competition begins on 1 January. You are invited to sign up to participate; it is open to all Wikipedians, new and old. Brainstorming and discussion remains open for how next year's competition will work, and straw polls will be opened by the judges soon. Those interested in friendly competition may also like to keep an eye on the stub contest, being organised by Casliber. The WikiCup judges will be back in touch over the coming months, and we hope to see you all in the 2014 competition. Until then, it only remains to once again congratulate our worthy winners, and thank all participants for their involvement! Re: Bolding
We went through this before, and I really don't want to again. The bolding is not necessary and WP:IAR doesn't necessarily apply. I've already obtained the final format on the tables through FLC which we should be following. Please refer to List of tornadoes in the 1999 Oklahoma tornado outbreak for how to appropriately format the tables. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 00:44, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
- After the two months of working on the freaking table, no, I don't support bolding anymore. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 00:59, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
- And, to add further, what we want is really irrelevant. The MOS says no bolding, therefore there is no bolding. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 01:32, 19 November 2013 (UTC)

There seems to be a missing EF4 tornado somewhere. You recently changed the count of EF4 tornadoes in 2013 from 8 to 9, but I can still only find 8 on the monthly lists. The discrepancy is on the May list. TornadoLGS (talk) 01:07, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

Reason for reversion on the Nov 17 outbreak page
The Gifford, New Minden, Kokomo, Pekin and other entries lost sources and detail without reasoning. I'm not sure why you would replace a NWS damage survey page with an SPC reports map. I'm not sure if its accidental or on purpose, but I don't have the time to go back and and add all these refs and details back. Please read the sources if you are skeptical, but do not delete sourced, relevant info. Thank you. Sharkguy05 (talk) 03:01, 26 November 2013 (UTC)Sharkguy05
Japan Member Report
Two things USM, 1) It might be worth you double checking the stuff i added to the September 2 section, on the 2013 Tornadoes based on Japans member report to WMO. 2) The member report also highlights that Man-yi also caused several F0 and F1 tornadoes which caused 10 injuries/1000 homes damaged so im not sure its worth a section. Let me know what you think - Thanks :).Jason Rees (talk) 04:12, 26 November 2013 (UTC)

As reviewing administrator, I removed you speedy deletion tag on Wit Busza. The accomplishments listed, being a Fellow of the American Physical society, and a Full professor at MIT, are quite sufficient to give some plausible indication of importance. (note that Fellow of this society like most such societies is an elected honor, as distinct from the routine rank of Member) In fact, I think that anyone claiming a professorship at any level at a university is at least a claim to plausible importance, whether or not they are actually notable.
In fact, he's actually notable under WP:PROF because of the Fellowship--and other factors, when the article gets developed further. In repeated decisions at AfD , almost all full professors at major universities have been found to be notable, tho that is not the actual standard. Note that WP:PROF is explicitly an alternative to the GNG-- a professor could be notable under either criterion.
If it's WP:PROF, there's not even a need for 3rd party sources, just reliable sources to prove the factors of notability ; An official CV is accepted as a reliable source for routine uncontroversial maters. Indeed, for BLPPROD, there's also no need for third party sources, just reliable ones that address the notability. BLPRPDO is concerned with verifiability, not notability, & its purpose is to prevent fraudulent claims.
I'm explaining this in some detail because you're doing god work here, and this is rather a specialized situation. DGG ( talk ) 10:00, 19 December 2013 (UTC)
Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Cece Frey
Hello United States Man. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Cece Frey to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe CSD applies to the page in question. Thank you. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 12:03, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

Jim McMahon
You are in direct violation of this websites standards. Failure to properly maintain your role may lead to immediate usurpation.
You have reverted user Theroux721's edits on Jim McMahon claiming "no sources have been used".
Sources have been indeed used, and are also unnecessary in a one sentence addition. Theroux721 (talk • contribs) 03:00, 21 December 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for December 21
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Kathy Clark (American author), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page York College (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Japan
Hi USM, I hope you liked my finding of the tornado stats for Man-yi, there may be a few more bits to come for it. Anyway per my interpretation of WP:Overlink, Japan should not be linked yet alone twice since it is a major geographic features just like the United States is but Vanuatu isnt.Jason Rees (talk) 21:16, 21 December 2013 (UTC)
Unwarrented removal of sourced information
Once again, I have had to revert your "updates" to the November 17, 2013 tornado outbreak article. You either knowingly removed sourced information, simply did not read the sources carefully enough, or accidentally removed information without knowing. I will continue to do this as long as you keep indiscriminately removing relevant, sourced information. Feel free to add information or sources, but make sure you aren't removing info that other info users have added and sourced. That is inconsiderate. The summaries on that article are well-sourced are fine as is. Sharkguy05 (talk) 19:39, 22 December 2013 (UTC)Sharkguy05
I kept your sourcing changes and updated tornado count, but I put most of the detailed info back. You are going to have to learn that you don't own the severe articles on this website. People are going to add information and change wording whether you like it or not. As long as it is sourced, you don't have the grounds to do anything about that. I am willing to make compromises with you, but you are going to have to acknowledge when you don't have control over certain details that are being added. What details I add is my decision, not yours (as long as they are sourced/relevant, that is). That is simply how this website works. Sharkguy05 (talk) 01:49, 26 December 2013 (UTC)Sharkguy05
Please, just read the sources, I beg of you. Every detail that I write in those summaries are verifiable by looking at the sources. Look in the edit summaries for my most recent set of edits. I provided where to look in the source to find the information that verifies the what I added! Look and you will find it! Sharkguy05 (talk) 06:00, 26 December 2013 (UTC)Sharkguy05

Canada Tornado
The reason i took it out was because there isnt any proof that it was associated with Hurricane Sandy. The source doesnt provide any proof that it was associated with Sandy, while the NHC used the line "only one tornado was reported in association with Sandy" in their TCR. If you would like to add it to a new section feel free, but im not sure i see it as noteworthy. Merry Christmas.Jason Rees (talk) 17:56, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
- How are you proving that it was "more closely associated with a frontal boundary than with the nearby remnants of Hurricane Sandy." The source cited doesnt give any details on how it was formed.Jason Rees (talk) 18:32, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
