Welcome to my talk page. Please leave me a message below and I will reply on your talk page. Although my email address is enabled, it is not an address I check often (so I may be slow in replying to email). Please also note that while I am glad to do a peer review on just about any article, I do not have the time to do copyedits (sorry). Thanks for stopping by and happy editing! Re: Reliable sources
For info as uncontroversial as mileage stats, any source should be fine (especially Google or Yahoo Maps). Alternatively, you could ask Mitchazenia (talk · contribs) to check one his historical Pennsylvania road maps. –Juliancolton | Talk 15:59, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
This article is on PR – I have developed it from an existing sem-stub. It won't get into the backlog, because it has gained review comments. Nevertheless, I would still welcome your input, if you can find time, since your feedback is always constructive. Brianboulton (talk) 17:29, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- Two or three days will be fine. I much appreciate it. Brianboulton (talk) 21:29, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Gas rights near Cherry Springs State Park
I found this article about gas wells at Maurice K. Goddard State Park. It also mentions how the PA-DCNR purchased mineral rights in Potter County to preserve the dark skies at Cherry Springs. I thought that you might like to include it in the paragraph about the wind farms. Dincher (talk) 19:44, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- Just got back from work to find a stopped up sink that requires my attention. Not sure when I'll get to CSSP again. I am glad you like the finds. I look on Google news for state park news every so often and found that stuff today. Have a good one! Dincher (talk) 23:28, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- I saw the new pic and was thinking that it might be better for the infobox. What do you think? I am going to stop working on the PR fixes now and headed to the shower. I will check back on wiki tonight before I go off to sleep. Dincher (talk) 01:25, 5 May 2009 (UTC) Put this on my own talk page. Oops, definetly time to make the moves towards the bed. Dincher (talk) 01:27, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with your assessment of the new pic. No problems with keeping the star photo in the lead. Did we get any other pics from the source in Potter County? Dincher (talk) 02:17, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Astronomy Field
Yes, your proposed revision looks fine. I must confess that part of my fogginess about this yesterday came from thinking that I had just read that camping was not allowed on the Astronomy Field. I should have double-checked. Just now I did, and I see that it's the former airfield that has no camping. Finetooth (talk) 02:09, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- I didn't comment on the images in my review (because my brain went into sleep mode), but they are terrific. They make me think of returning to Rhyolite and attempting a stitched panorama of the mountains that almost surround the town. Your images are quite imaginative, fun to look at, and they enhance the content in a variety of interesting ways. Finetooth (talk) 16:47, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- The aerial photo reminded me of two friends with a light plane and at least one digital camera. I don't know how hard it is to photograph from a moving airplane or whether they'd be interested. It might be dangerous; if so, I wouldn't want them to try. I also wonder what the best way is to get a non-Wikipedian's work uploaded to the Commons and licensed properly. The OTRS method seemed complicated and therefore subject to error (like my typo), and I'm wondering if there's a better way. If aerial photography is not too risky or technically difficult, I might ask one of my flying friends to create a Commons account and upload directly. Do you know of other or better alternatives to the licensing question? Finetooth (talk) 19:08, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Ricin and such
Since I seem to have found a good, healthy groove around here, and am not producing as much original and new content I thought you might enjoy my latest late night research project: 2003 ricin letters. I think this one got lost in recent history somewhere but I try to keep the topics interesting. Even did some more Lincoln stuff recently too. Hope all is well with you Ruhr. --IvoShandor (talk) 13:48, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
- Also, I removed a link from the ricin letter further reading section that I added before I finished reading. When I finished I was rather uncomfortable including it. Is there anyway to completely purge said link from the page history? Is that even acceptable. I can explain why in an email or you can just read it in the history. Let me know what you think. It's not a bad link or anything, but its content coupled with its relative obscurity (it wasn't easy to dig up) make me wary. Thoughts would be appreciated, if you have a moment to spare.--IvoShandor (talk) 14:03, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
- Well here's the diff where I added it. So it is part of every revision since then until I removed it, after thinking it over. If you read it I think you'll see why. So I'm not sure what you should do actually, is that possible to get rid of that over all those revisions? Or will it kill all those revisions too? You'd know the rules better than I, but I do think it should go away.--IvoShandor (talk) 14:16, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. I hope I didn't trouble you (I know you said you're busy). --IvoShandor (talk) 14:25, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

200th DYK medal thanks
Thanks for promptly recognizing my 200th DYK last night. It gives me added incentive to keep working to 500. Daniel Case (talk) 14:16, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Clements Markham at FAC
I've nominated it, as there seems little else to be done. Perhaps some sharp eyes at FAC will catch me out. Brianboulton (talk) 18:13, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Featured sounds
Generally, as with featured pictures, the FS template is just left on the page, even though no file is there. Example: File:Handel_-_Fitzwilliam_Sonata_2.ogg. I've fixed the one you mentioend as well - I think it was used as part of a DYK, so got uploaded here too. Shoemaker's Holiday (talk) 20:16, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Cherry Springs FAC
Er...shouldn't this be listed on the FAC page? Thanks for the Markham support, by the way. Brianboulton (talk) 23:09, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
- Yup. I saw it and am watching it. Now we have a broken shower. Oh joy. Dincher (talk) 01:44, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
- The shower head literally blew off the shower. It was leaking and I had taped it up. As I was taping, I thought to myself, I wonder if the water is going to build up and break this? I wonder how long it will take? Answer, 4 days and 16 or so showers. Now it's blasting water out and I had a fine shower. Dincher (talk) 02:45, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
- Not to interrupt, and I'm sorry, but this is hilarious.--IvoShandor (talk) 02:48, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

I am done with the FAC comments for now.--Dincher (talk) 10:43, 7 May 2009 (UTC) There was a request on the PA protected areas template talk page for the protected areas to be added to the template. What do you think? Gerry Dincher 18:51, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

I saw that the OTRS ticket was ready. It's fine with me, your plan that is. I should be able to load them slowly this week. Did you see the Pymatuning State Park pic from flickr? Dincher (talk) 01:18, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- Good luck with the DYK, but I am sure you'll make it, eventually. Dincher (talk) 01:23, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Oxygen toxicity Peer Review
Thank you for the review of Oxygen toxicity; I've made changes based on your comments. What I wanted to ask is, do you know of any resources to help me start with Peer Reviewing? I feel terribly inexperienced at this level, although I also feel morally obliged to give back something, when you've been so kind in giving your time to help an article I was working on. Any suggestions or pointers to essays, etc. would be most welcome. Thanks again --RexxS (talk) 20:52, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Time Traveler's Wife peer review
Awadewit asked me to do a PR of The Time Traveler's Wife (review page), and I was a little slow in responding, so I noticed that you also signed on to do it. I went through and did a review this morning (not long after you signed on), but I didn't want you to think I'm stepping on your toes or anything; you're still welcome to do a review, I was basically thinking of mine as just comments here and there to supplement whatever review you end up doing. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 14:00, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Inflation template
Yes, it seems to be fixed. I've never tried to change a template's inner workings for fear I'd cause a global disaster if I messed up. I'm really glad you knew what to do. On an entirely different subject, I noticed yesterday that you and Brian are using m-d-y or, in his case, d-m-y in the citation dates and also a new parameter, dateformat= , that I've never seen before. Does dateformat= have a function other than stating a preference? I'm thinking of using it. Finetooth (talk) 16:55, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Togari Peer Review
Thanks for peer reviewing Togari (manga). I have expanded the lead and removed all Amazon links but there is not enough RS third-party sources to expand the article further, especially the Development section. I'm currently peer-reviewing Nordic Council's Literature Prize, well was. Extremepro (talk) 05:28, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Natural and Wild
I am still undecided on this. I can go either way. It does seem redundant to all another section to the template for places that are already part of a state forest or park. Then there would be 77 or so more articles to create. I just don't really have a solid opinion on this matter. Dincher (talk) 21:08, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
- No problem. I am still up in the air on what to do. Could you email, to my gmail, the book on the natural areas at the state forests? Dincher (talk) 00:58, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
Champion Township Ohio article
I have a question for Ruhrfisch unrelated to this article. How can I communicate directly with Ruhrfisch??? Jaeulat (talk) 14:33, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
I need help on reversing the changes that were made by myself to the Champion Township, OH article. One of your comrades deleted historical info that I put on Champion Township. I had the source, but didn't know how to correctly put it on the article. Yet my info was deleted without any offer to assist me. I am not happy with that. The person (admin) that deleted it appears to be someone who is often on Wiki. Please assist...Jaeulat (talk) 15:26, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
Cherry Springs
I see that Cherry Springs and old Clements Markham went through together, so the congratulations are mutual. Thanks for your help. Brianboulton (talk) 21:08, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you too. I am plugging away at the pics. I should get a good bit done today. There's no hurry, right? Dincher (talk) 21:23, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- Yes. I won't have the time. I see we got our star now. Cool. What date should we nominate CSSP for the main page? Was it June 1 or June 11? Dincher (talk) 00:54, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
- Okay. That will be a busy day for me. I have Jury Duty on June 11th! I will nominate it (if that's the right word) soon. I think it has to be within 30 days. Correct? --Dincher (talk) 01:49, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the Maudslay fix, I will try to catch that in future. Do you know how to reformat coordinates into an infobox? For example Ames Nowell State Park 42.12025|N|-70.98712|W I need to parse the coords. If there are instructions all the better, but i just never learned. thanks EraserGirl (talk) 19:49, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
BP Pedestrian Bridge
Ruhrfisch, nice map that you drew and copy editing on BP Pedestrian Bridge. Does the map make the text too thin to the left of it on your monitor? It does for me, I think because the infobox may be 3 or 4 parameters too much. Can you think of another option? Should we: shorten the infobox, shrink the map, or move the map? I'm not sure. Maybe it is just my monitor. Best, DVD 05:31, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Re: navbox-- {{Millennium Park Map}} is already pictured in {{Millennium Park}} but just not with the clickable labels. Maybe they can be combined since they are basically the same information. DVD 19:31, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Whatever you decide to do should be fine. The images and the illustrations are amazing, I think because of the character of the project. The problem I had is now resolved, so I'm not going to worry about it anymore. This bridge is one of those projects that, in my opinion, is is bound to be a success, and I'm glad to see you contributing to making it a featured article. DVD 22:56, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
I just noticed that the bridge is cropped in the map :( do you have a plan view that shows it in its entirety? That might be worth adding. DVD 23:02, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for taking the time to peer review the Charles Carroll article. Your comments were extremely helpful. Best, Geraldk (talk) 20:38, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
- You read my mind :). Next step is GA, though unfortunately I doubt there will be enough sources out there to expand it into a good candidate for FA, given that he was a relatively minor figure in the grand scheme of things. I'm going to be expanding the articles on his son and grandson, though, so we'll see if I can dig anything up. Geraldk (talk) 21:04, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
You have a current nominee at WP:FOUR. We are trying to clear out the log of nominees without having the nominator confirm the eligibility. If you have a chance could you help confirm a nominee or two.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 21:18, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
Hi Ruhrfisch. I'm wondering whether you would like to contribute to a peer review I've started on this article, possibly suggesting any areas of elaboration or prose issues prior to me putting it up for FA? I would be most grateful if you would! Cheers, --Bulleid Pacific (talk) 23:42, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, but the 'Todays FA' accolade is always a poisoned chalice where vandalism is concerned, so it'll mean that all editors involved will have to be extra vigilant for the next 24 hours, and sift through the edits for those that actually improve the article. Thanks for your help, and I look forward to reading (and enacting upon!) your suggestions. Cheers, --Bulleid Pacific (talk) 09:21, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

waring by Slp1 and WLU
These 2 people have destroyed the article for the Canadian Children's Rights Council. They have used an obscure authority ( a female supremacist ) to justify stating that the organization is a men's rights group.
A review of their edits will show that they have repetaedly made a reference to the group being "CCRC" which has been refuted many times on that article with justification on the talk and discussions.
These 2 editors have also destroyed the articles on "parental alienation" and "Parental alienation syndrome". The parental alienation article has nothing left becuase of them. Their political editing is damaging to the reputation of Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JaniceMT (talk • contribs) 18:49, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
Peer review clerical maintenace
This is to let you know that I am taking a shortish wiki-break, from next Tuesday 26 May. I'm off to Italy for a bit of R & R, should be back by 3rd or 4th June. This means that I will have temporarily to relinquish the daily backlog update chore. I will do it up to Monday 25th, and I don't mind resuming when I get back, but someone else will need to do it while I'm away. Brianboulton (talk) 23:52, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
Townships
For now User:Nyttend and I are just winging it. I have a map on my PC of what I've done and two of Nyttend's. After I am finished with Tioga, I'll post the progress on one of my user pages. Should be ready in about an hour. Dincher (talk) 00:47, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
- Almost done with Tioga. Don't forget to change the postal code township redirects. For example Ruhrfisch Township, PA should be Ruhrfisch Township, Creek County, PA. Dincher (talk) 01:24, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
- You ask about a central list — just check Category:Townships in Pennsylvania. When I was helping Omnedon do Minnesota, I'd generally select a township article that needed to be moved and move all the townships in that county. I'm about to do the same at the moment: for example, the first PA township that lacks a county name is Allen Township, Pennsylvania, so I'll just move it with all the other ones for whatever county it is. Nyttend (talk) 01:29, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
This makes sense too. I think it's what I'll use and I'll just keep my map for fun. Dincher (talk) 01:50, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Cool Fleaker. Tabbed browsing on IE 7.0 (I think it's 7.0) makes the townships project easier, but I do most of the moving at work where it isn't so easy. Dincher (talk) 03:02, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

- Do you need a life preserver? Have fun in Allegheny County. I didn't even tacke it with the infobox project. It was just way too much. I am not thrilled with the counties near Philly, lots of small townships with directional and therefore unique names. Off to Lebanon County. Mmmm bologna. Dincher (talk) 01:21, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- Go ahead and move it. Nyttend moved many of the other Allegheny Townships last year. Places like Upper Saint Clair were listed like McAndless. If it's still a township, officially then that's how I think it should be listed here. Dincher (talk) 01:58, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, now I am not sure. Sounds like Mt. Lebo is making things more interesting. I'd ask Nyttend. Dincher (talk) 02:02, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Millennium Park
Given your efforts with the map and now with the Bridge, if we get this through FA, you may want to help User:Torsodog and I get the whole Millennium Park topic promoted from Good to Featured. It would probably take the whole summer because we would have to get five FAs, but we have been having trouble with Crown Fountain and Cloud Gate. The main article is probably a good candidate. Then we would need one more. Let me know if you want to get that involved.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 06:26, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Hyner View
I really think that we can get it up to FA. There is lots of lumber history to add, then there is the unique hang gliding factor to add. Native American history too. Dincher (talk) 13:35, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
- More thoughts. Also the Fair Play Men and the Big Runaway might play a role in expanding the history section here. Susquehanna Boom too. Dincher (talk) 14:01, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
- Agreed. I am "working" today. So I'll have time today to work on it until about 3 if we don't get too busy. Also since we're trying to get Hyner View to FA we might was well go for Hyner Run too. It will be like Colton Point and Leonard Harrison State Parks. Dincher (talk) 14:20, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
It's too busy to do thoughtful work. The article from the Lock Haven paper that I added is pretty good. Off to work on some townships. Dincher (talk) 15:44, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Hey there ! There's some sort of mess at Talk:Blue Dragon, causing a red link in the articlehistory for a peer review. uh-LEG-uh-knee County
Don't worry, I don't pronounce it this way :-) Question about other townships: are townships without these odd charters always named "_____ Township"? If so, I guess we have to leave Mt Lebanon and McCandless where they are; if they're in any other format, including "Township of _____", I think that it would be better to move to McCandless Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and Mt. Lebanon Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Nyttend (talk) 05:18, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry for being confusing (I was close to falling asleep) — I'll just repeat what I was trying to say. I knew that these two are named this way, but what about others? If average townships are named "Township of Whatever" or something like that, yet we use "Whatever Township", I think that it would be reasonable to have these at the links that I provided above. Nyttend (talk) 12:34, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- And if you click on the right spot on the map, it will take you to a page for "McCandless Township" and another for "Mount Lebanon". It would help if they were more consistent. I guess it's best to go with vulgar usage (to be a bit archaic :-) — I know people from the latter community, and I've never heard them talk about "Mount Lebanon Township" — since we can't find consistency on the official name. Thanks! Nyttend (talk) 13:32, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

- I put the Amos stuff in the Millennium Park article. I am honestly very surprised that, given the work you put into the template and now the Bridge, I can not interest you in at least taking the main article of this topic to FA. I guess it is further away than the Bridge, Cloud Gate and Crown Fountain. I am always trying to lure assistance for WP:CHICAGO and you seem like you should be convincable. You are also so good at mediating the issues that have dogged prior drafts, that I really wish I could get you involved in another one (or four). Peer review multiple nominations
User:BOZ has nominated four articles for peer review on 6 June. I have reminded him of the one nom per day rule, informed him of the backlog, and asked him to withdraw three of his noms and reintroduce them at intervals. I have also suggested that, as a penance, he do some reviewing himself. A total of eleven articles were nominated on 6 June, the most I've known in one day. Brianboulton (talk) 23:50, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
Calamity poll
No, you're not hallucinating. The other reference to the BBC poll is in Max Jones (2003): The Last Great Quest (already used as a source in the article). Page 289 reads: "Shackleton's bravado and charismatic leadership define a modern Britain, which has shaken off the straitjacket of class prejudice and preoccupation with heroic failure represented by Captain Scott. When the BBC recently asked viewers to nominate the greatest Britons ever, Shackleton came eleventh, Scott came fifty-fourth." This brief mention is within a passage dealing with Huntford's depiction of Scott as an emblem of decline. It is important to realise that neither Jones nor Barczewski claim that the poll proved anything; they each mention it as an indicator of the relative public perceptions of Scott and Shackleton in late 20th/early 21st century, Since both these scholarly sources refer to the poll, I think it's worth a sentence in the article – but no more than that. Upper Pine Bottom State Park
The longest name for one of the smallest parks. I've expanded it a good bit by taking info from the township history and Pine Creek Gorge. I am struggling with the weather channel website to add a climate box. Can't find how to get to a page that is similar to the one we've referenced for Colton Point State Park. How much is a five fold expansion? Is it five times? UPB was at about 10k before I started now it's more like 20k. This doesn't exclude anything. Not sure how to check all of this type of stuff. Anyway, how does it look so far? Where might we find more info? Dincher (talk) 20:38, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. Update on townships. The following counties need to be changed. Westmoreland, Washington, Montgomery, Bucks and Chester. I've undone someone's change to {{Delaware County, Pennsylvania}} that separated some home rule townships, but I'd really like to have a link to the discussion. Splitting NRHP list
National Register of Historic Places listings in Chester County, Pennsylvania is rather too large, so splitting might be a good idea. I've been talking a little bit about this with Dtbohrer; would you read the relevant bits at the bottoms of our talk pages and offer a comment at one of them? Nyttend (talk) 17:37, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
- The township would be in its own article (like Pittsburgh is). --D.B.talk•contribs 00:57, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- I'm worried that if a township is split out, someone reading it (that is unfamilar with the article size prediciment) would think we've, somehow, equated the importance of West Whiteland Township with that of a major city. Spliting north/south seems most logical, but how would the county be spilt. There is an Amtrak and SEPTA rail line that roughly divides the county in half which might work (if were picking an arbitary division point). Spliting the list by borough/city and townships would make for an interesting naming convention ("National Register of Historic Places listings in the boroughs and cities of Chester County, Pennsylvania" is a bit of a mouthful) :-) --D.B.talk•contribs 02:20, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- I'm fine with that. The railroad tracks happen to roughly follow that line. --D.B.talk•contribs 03:31, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks very much for looking over this article—though frankly the more feedback I read, the more I may wait and totally rework the article when I can give it my full attention, instead of squeezing it between Symphonic poems (Liszt) in FAC and Choral symphony back in peer review. For this reason, if I don't respond to your feedback, please do not be offended. I really appreciate the time you have put into it. Jonyungk (talk) 05:44, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for getting back to me about this as well as for the encoragement. I will definitely get back to the article; my time at the moment has been going into Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Symphonic poems (Liszt)/archive1—far more of my time, in fact, than I'd initially expected. If you are interested in taking a peek yourself, I'd appreciate the input, but it sounds like you have your hands pretty full with the backlog on peer review. In any case, I wanted to thank you for the time you put into Tchaikovsky and the Five and explain why I might not respond right away to your feedback. Jonyungk (talk) 17:18, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Peer review backlog
I'm back, and will resume the backlog updating as from today (Friday 26th). As soon as possible, when I get my reviewing legs back, I will start to work on the backlog itself. Brianboulton (talk) 16:28, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Oxygen toxicity
Hi, Ruhrfisch. Thank you for your peer review of "Oxygen toxicity". The article at is now at FAC. Would you comment specifically on your suggestion to move the "History" section? Thanks, Axl ¤ [Talk] 07:54, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Just to let you know this is now at FAC, and to thank you for your help in getting it there. Brianboulton (talk) 23:07, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks
I didn't know until I saw your message, thanks for pointing it out. Again, thank you for helping out at the peer review and participating at the FAC, I really appreciate it. The article has changed significantly, even during the nomination period, and I'm glad so many people participated in helping to improve it. --Happy editing! - I actually searched for about 20 minutes yesterday and eventually found her e-mail. I sent a request for the image so hopefully I hear something back soon. Even though it's already passed as FA, I'd like to continue to improve the article, especially if I can get it on the main page next April. Thanks for the heads up though. --Happy editing! Thanks. I have a few more to upload. Finding the Fort Antes stuff was pretty neat. Hope all is well. Dincher (talk) 03:29, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Peer review request?
Long time, no see Ruhrfisch! I've recently launched a full-on effort to bring Thomas Gold to FA status. Currently, the article is at peer review (see here). It isn't 100% complete yet (I still need to write a lead, expand the "Origin of petroleum" section, and copyedit), but I was hoping I could get some feedback and advice from an FAC regular on the current standing of the article.
