Thanks...
Thank You Larry, I'll return to the page and make certain you get proper credit. --MiInReAs (talk) 21:23, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks, MiInReAs but I don't need to be credited as I'm not the author of the article I posted about. I'm not that Larry! Cordless Larry (talk) 11:34, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
At any rate, I put it the way you said it should go... --MiInReAs (talk) 11:40, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
You know good and well why I put it there, Wikipedia said to do that incase someone deletes you page, that you also nominated. And yes, I think I know you now... --MiInReAs (talk) 13:43, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
- Where does Wikipedia say that you should make copies of articles on your user talk page, MiInReAs? That's certainly not what it says at Wikipedia:User pages. Cordless Larry (talk) 13:45, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
Somewhere in the deletion undeletion pages... I just started here. I read but I couldn't make that up. I never heard of a user page until... I read it on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_policy someplace... hey I'm not smart enough to have made it up! --MiInReAs (talk) 14:07, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
- The article hasn't been deleted, MiInReAs, so undeletion doesn't apply. If it is, then you can request that the closing administrator restores the article as a userspace draft, but that wouldn't be to User:MiInReAs, and there is no need to keep a copy there when the article still exists. Cordless Larry (talk) 14:09, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
Hi Larry, Here is the text I read about saving a copy on my userspace: Wikipedia:How to save an article proposed for deletion Make a copy of the article[edit] It may be useful to copy and paste the article into your userspace. Create a page titled User:Your username/Article name, where you can preserve the article. This way, if you wish to reintroduce it one day, you will be able to easily after appropriate changes are made. MiInReAs (talk) 18:34, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
- OK, MiInReAs, but if that is from Wikipedia:How to save an article proposed for deletion, then note what it says at the top of the page about it being an essay, not a Wikipedia policy or guideline. Moreover, it says to make the copy at User:Your username/Article name (e.g. User:MiInReAs/James Ibold), whereas you have created it at User:Your username, i.e. User:MiInReAs. In any case, as I explained above, if the article is deleted, you can always request a copy then. That is how things are usually done, whatever that essay says. Cordless Larry (talk) 18:42, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
Honest to god, I don't know what I am doing. Only trying to set up a legacy for an old over look great artist. He was not liked by writers and had no commercial appeal. But he could get keep votes from older artist. I cited my case. I am not wanting to offend anyone. MiInReAs (talk) 18:55, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
Thank You Cordless Larry, You Showed me the WaY... I figured it out from your guidance!!!MiInReAs (talk) 19:06, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
- My guidance was to await the outcome of the deletion discussion, MiInReAs, but never mind. Cordless Larry (talk) 19:07, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
- In fact, the more I think about it, the more a problem I think this is, MiInReAs. Because you have copied and pasted the text there, the version in your userspace lacks an article history and therefore proper attribution to the editors who have worked on it. You really should ask for it to be deleted and wait for the outcome of the deletion discussion about the actual article before deciding what to do. Cordless Larry (talk) 19:25, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

Please engage in constructive and supportive dialogue. Do not attempt to disrupt the compilation of encyclopedic material through edits in order to advance a political agenda that you hold. - Hello and welcome to Wikipedia, Moin Khan Razvi. I don't know much about making userboxes and can only really point you to Wikipedia:Userboxes, so I suggest that you ask about this at Wikipedia:Teahouse, where your question will be seen by more people - some of whom I'm sure will be able to give you a more satisfactory answer than I can. Hello! Cordless Larry
I think we should solve the problem of confusion between Wheelbuilding and Wheel construction as early as possible. As you mentioned, the two terms stand for different subjects, so there should be separate article for Wheel construction, and you can check, our draft is stronger than Wheelbuilding in citations. I also request you to improve the draft by adding more information and citations. I want to highly develop the draft before submitting it for review. Sinner (talk) 01:13, 22 August 2017 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) @Nazim Hussain Pak: Seriously, I have told you this before, you do not get to demand other users to do your work. (Read again: Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not#Wikipedia is not compulsory) Also please read Wikipedia:There is no deadline. Back to your draft, two users have already offered you valuable feedback. This will unlikely be a standalone article (read Wikipedia:Content forking), so instead of creating a new one, try to improve existing articles and learn from mistakes when other users correct you so that you can develop your own experience. Alex ShihTalk 03:31, 22 August 2017 (UTC)
- Sorry, Nazim Hussain Pak, but I don't know sufficient knowledge of wheel technology or the time necessary to be able to help with this. While I think of it, I suggest that you research the topic using print sources as well as websites, as quite a lot of the most reliable sources on this topic are likely to be engineering books. Cordless Larry (talk) 14:42, 22 August 2017 (UTC)
- No problem, but please help me solve wheelbuilding and wheel construction name problem, or can you not help me even in this regard? Sinner (talk) 14:48, 22 August 2017 (UTC)
- You'll have to work out what terms are used in reliable sources, Nazim Hussain Pak, and whether those terms cover the same or different topics. Cordless Larry (talk) 15:08, 22 August 2017 (UTC)
- In every source that I visited, wheel construction and making wheel is used for wireless wheels and wheelbuilding for wire spoked wheels, and Wheelbuilding also says the same. Sinner (talk) 15:15, 22 August 2017 (UTC)
- There's your answer, then. Cordless Larry (talk) 15:17, 22 August 2017 (UTC)

Your removal Panayiotis Kalorkoti
Wikipedia Deletion policy states that ‘If in doubt as to whether there is consensus to delete a page, administrators normally will not delete it’. I do not believe there is consensus to delete. The reason for deletion of the Panayiotis Kalorkoti page is given as: ‘On the surface, the list of external links might suggest that this subject meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines. However, many of the links are just to catalogue entries. There appears to be a lack of significant coverage in reliable, independent sources here. There is a small amount of local news coverage, but I haven't been able to find much else. Cordless Larry (talk) 20:44, 14 August 2017 (UTC)’ And: ‘Weak delete. On the one hand, the three exhibition reviews in local newspapers meet WP:ARTIST standard 3. On the other hand, the article is plainly WP:PROMOTION driven by an SPA. I don't think Mr Kalorkoti is encyclopedic quite yet. Matt's talk 02:03, 15 August 2017 (UTC)’.
These statements may appear reasonable but are not correct. The Wikipedia page has not been updated and does not have accurate record of sources. There are reliable and independent sources. Some example:

Since you (quite rightly!) added {{essay-like}} to this article, I'm letting you know I've started a discussion at Talk:Dark marketing concerning the need for it to be completely re-written. It may even be eligible for TNT, although that's probably premature. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 10:29, 28 September 2017 (UTC)

deleting aedp article
Hi Cordless Larry I just saw that aedp article is being discussed to be deleted. I didn't get a notification and just saw this now. Obviously I am very upset, as that is a year of work for me and I had addressed the issues that are under discussion already. I would like to address the issues but I don't know how to join that discussion. If I go to edit, there is no room for me to write, and I don't want to move anything around. But here goes if you can please share:
1. Of course I am a student of AEDP, how else could I understand the topic. And yes, diana fosha mentioned me in a footnote in her book but that was to acknowledge that I had written up the transcript of a session she showed, that she had in fact written in the article and that was my transcription! So I am her associate to the extent that a student is an associate of a principal.
3. There are quite a few newer references that further support the notability of aedp since the article was posted a year ago.
4. how can it be written like a personal essay and also be written as a textbook
it can't be written any way other than it is written because i have followed the advised wikipedia practice of writing from the point of view of verifiable and notable sources. the sources are highly conceptual and research based, so of course its going to follow that tone. Believe me there is no way i can think of to make the content any more accessible without "dumbing it down." I think if I were to try to read an entry on sub-particle physics, i would not understand it,but I would be disappointed in wikipedia if it was written for a 6th grader to understand (as is the reading level that is advised for many non-scholarly writing).
5. students/therapists/psychotherapy researcher, psychologists are coming across AEDP in many writings. In the last year the citations to her work have increased significantly. I think turning to wikipedia to understand what this is, is what wikipedia is for. I love wikipedia. And what i wrote is exactly what I would have wanted to find.
6. why is someone hopping on coherence therapy - its a reference.
7. that AEDP is one of the model of therapy considered mainstream and of importance and promoted by APA on its website, with a dvd, is testimony to its notability. And as someone said, if Diana fosha is notable, why isn't aedp?
8. Please do not let them delete AEDP article. Carrieruggieri (talk) 01:10, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
- I see that you did manage to post this at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy, but it was after the discussion had been closed, so it has been removed, Carrieruggieri. The outcome of the discussion was a decision to cover AEDP in the Diana Fosha article rather than in a standalone article. It might still be possible to have an article on the theory in future (though on your penultimate point, see WP:NOTINHERITED), but it would need to be more neutrally written. Cordless Larry (talk) 08:54, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
Draft deleted, please advise.
Hi there,
Thank you so much for your help on my query.
The page I created was apparently deleted with reason cited as G11: Unambigous advertising. I tried to contact the editor who deleted the page but was not able to leave a message at the bottom of his page with the four Pol.res.pic (talk) 07:30, 24 October 2017 (UTC)
Should I just rework my content and create a new page now? Also, how do I know what is being perceived as advertising in the content, so that I can avoid it in the new draft perhaps?
Many thanks and kind regards, Policy Researcher
- It's hard for me to give advice on what was perceived as advertising as I can't see the deleted material, Pol.res.pic. However, you should have a read of Wikipedia:Your first article, which might help. Once you're ready to try again, I suggest creating a draft for review via Wikipedia:Article wizard. Cordless Larry (talk) 07:35, 24 October 2017 (UTC)
Hi,
True, I just went through that page and have edited the content. Have made it absolutely plain and simple with no words or sentence constructions that may sound 'promotional'. Do I absolutely need to add sources for the page creation such as newspaper articles? Or is that optional?
Kind regards, Policy Researcher — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pol.res.pic (talk • contribs) 08:02, 24 October 2017 (UTC)
- Sources are not optional, Pol.res.pic. There should be nothing in an article that can't be verified by a reader checking a reliable, published source. See Wikipedia:Verifiability. Cordless Larry (talk) 08:06, 24 October 2017 (UTC)

- Hello, Катерина Мізіна. I can see that the article has some external links, but not references that support the material in the article. I suggest that you take a look at Wikipedia:Your first article and Help:Referencing for beginners, and ask at Wikipedia:Teahouse if you need any help in understanding what is required. Cordless Larry (talk) 11:01, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hello, dear Cordless Larry. Please check out the references I've added to the page Leonid Kanter. I think that those sources are pretty reliable, aren't them? And I hope I kept the neutral point of view in this article. Please check it out. For now it was hard to find good references in English so I promise to add more when I have some. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Катерина Мізіна (talk • contribs) 17:47, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
- I see that you've added some footnotes, Катерина Мізіна, but these are more links to further information than they are references. References should verify the material that they follow. So, for example, the reference following the sentence "In 1999 Kanter was a presenter of TV program Future celebrities" should be a source that states that he was the presenter of that programme. The footnote you have provided is instead a note telling the reader that they can watch more of his TV programmes on YouTube. Please have a read of Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources to understand what is required. Cordless Larry (talk) 19:54, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
Busan Foreign School
Hi Cordless Larry, Thank you for linking my discussion about the Busan Foreign School wikipedia. As an educator I appreciate the work that dedicated volunteers of Wikipedia do to store and disseminate knowledge. As a principal trying to run a school, I find this whole experience frustrating, time consuming and serving no purpose. Sy Lee graduated in 2016 from Busan Foreign School. Before he left he changed the web page to show himself as principal. We have corrected misinformation left by students from our own school and students from another local school. When the page was put up for deletion we were very happy. I don't see it as a page that serves the public good. You can check the school website to see relevant information about the school. You can also check the following sources:
Western Association of Schools and Colleges Eastern Regional Council of Overseas Schools
Both organizations are well respected and have accurate information on our school. But why bother, at this point the page has so little verifiable information that it should be deleted.
Thank you, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iainmacfarlane (talk • contribs) 08:16, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
- No problem, Iainmacfarlane. The reason I linked to your post is that you made it on the talk page associated with the deletion discussion, rather than in the discussion itself, which is at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Busan Foreign School. You might want to post the above there too, if you want your views taken into account. Cordless Larry (talk) 08:30, 9 November 2017 (UTC)

My newbe Tiko Kerr article edits
Hello,
Trying to update Tiko Kerr [1] article as you know and ran into trouble. Didn't know about "subject can't determine content" rule. Disclosed that I was asked by subject to make changes and hit brick wall. Continued adding data via COI section as per instructions. This artist has progressed way beyond original article. Needs update. Can you help? Thanks

References
- Hello, Rexb9. There is currently rather a large backlog of edit requests. You might be able to improve the chances of your requests being acted on sooner rather than later by ensuring that you have provided text that is ready to go into the article. At present, the material you've posted at Talk:Tiko Kerr would need quite a lot of reworking before it is ready to be added to the article. In particular, you should ensure that it is referenced properly, by following the instructions at Help:Referencing for beginners. Cordless Larry (talk) 15:33, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
Thank you - will do. Rexb9 (talk) 17:11, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
delete request
Hello Cordless Larry,
I have tried to explain, as I learn myself, how Wikipedia works to Tiko Kerr and his agent to no avail. In the last few days, they have asked me repeatedly to “demand” that the article be deleted. I have explained that this is not how it works but now I am finally obliged to submit this request to delete the article as a matter of record knowing that it is not the way to go and that it is not likely to happen in any case. I'm sorry for the time you have wasted on this but I am grateful for what I have learned. Thank you.
Rexb9 (talk) 20:26, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hello again, Rexb9. In my view, you are correct that the article is unlikely to be deleted, since there is enough coverage of Kerr in reliable sources for him to meet Wikipedia's notability criteria. Others may disagree, of course. If you wanted to find out, the instructions for nominating the article for deletion are at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Cordless Larry (talk) 20:29, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
Revert to older version
The article stub on Tiko Kerr is, he claims, deleterious to his career as is. can I revert to the September 16 2017 verion without unpleasant repurcussion in your opinion? Rexb9 (talk) 11:10, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
- I'm afraid that that version includes too much unsourced opinion, Rexb9. If Mr Kerr believes that the article is harmful to him, then this should be reported at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard. Cordless Larry (talk) 11:52, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
I see, of course, you are right. I must continue to convince them to persist with my COI revisions and updates (and my self-education) in spite of impatience. Thanks yet again.

Tiko Kerr update by rexb9
I have done some homework and, I believe, managed to clean things up on mt Tiko Kerr edit request. Would you have time to take a quick look? Any help would be very much appreciated. This subject doesn't have a lot of references so it's difficult. I can't have unreferenced listings of public events, can I? Thanks
Rexb9 (talk) 15:08, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
- I don't really have enough time at the moment, Rexb9, but your request now looks a lot tidier, which is good. You shouldn't list events that can't be sourced, no, and in fact I would avoid trying to list everything in any case. Really, the article should just summarise his most important work/events, as reflected in secondary sources. See WP:NOTRESUME, which is relevant here. Kornelija Slunjski Page
Cordless Larry,
I've recently received an email that you deleted my page "Kornelija Slunjski".
I changed a lot of wording so it fits Wikipedia's guidelines.
Can you please confirm it's in good order now ? If not, what else needs to be changed?
Also, my photo was deleted but I'm confused as in Why since I own that photo?
Thank you!
TheGalaxyMan (talk) 14:54, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
- TheGalaxyMan, I did not delete the article (I am not an administrator), but I did nominate it for deletion. The version you have recreated is still too promotional (and unsufficiently sourced as well). I suggest that you have a read of Wikipedia:Your first article and then make use of the Article Wizard to create a draft for review, rather than recreating the article as a live page. Cordless Larry (talk) 16:18, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
I changed it again, and removed anything that could potentially seem as promotional. As far as the text being insufficiently sourced, I added articles from the most read news outlets in former Yugoslavia. There are also articles in Croatian magazines about Kornelija (as that's her birth country), but I am not familiar in how to add those sources?
I also went to check the Wikipedia:Your first article and read through it, once I wanted to create a draft I received a Warning: The page Kornelija Slunjski already exists. Thank you! --TheGalaxyMan (talk) 17:01, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
- My advice was for if and when the article is deleted again, TheGalaxyMan (unless you want me to move it to draft space, which I can do). Cordless Larry (talk) 17:40, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for replying and the advice- I Contested the deletion, and explained in the Talk page why I think it shouldn't be deleted...
I am not sure what is the process now, I added more sources and cut down everything that could seem promotional. Is there any specific input you can share to help me get this page published?
Warm Regards, TheGalaxyMan (talk) 17:44, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
- The article is already published - the question is whether it will be deleted or not. I suggest removing any unsourced material from the article and ensuring that the text is neutral rather than promotional. To be honest, I am not sure that the subject meets our notability guidelines, though. See WP:NPEOPLE. Cordless Larry (talk) 17:48, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

GALECA and COI
Hi, Cordless Larry. In full transparency mode, I'm founder and (uncompensated/volunteer) executive director of GALECA (my name's John Griffiths). I update the general info about our org here — name changes, number of members that can be verified on our website, GALECA.org, but as a journalist and a volunteer who cares about the organization, I try my best to not contribute any information that has even a whiff of advertising or self-promotion (though my name is included in the history portion). If there are any items that are suspect or strike as impertinent or invalid, please delete them for the sake of our organization. GALECA's been happy to see the page take a life of its own with contributors I do not know (I'm the only person I know who checks up on the page now and then to see if there's anything amiss/untrue/etc.- I don't know of anyone in our organization who contributes). It's amazing that people - strangers - care enough about all this. Anyway, I will stay away! :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Blurbadeeblurb (talk • contribs) 11:34, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for explaining, Blurbadeeblurb. Unfortunately there are a lot of articles that would benefit from more active editors, and I understand that it's often only those with a connection to the subject who are interested in making updates. I don't think that you need to stay away from the article, but you should formally disclose your COI by following the instructions at WP:DISCLOSE. I will then remove the undisclosed COI template from the article. Cordless Larry (talk) 11:39, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
- Blurbadeeblurb, you need to place the template above on the talk page of the article, not on my user talk page. Virtually no one will see it here! Cordless Larry (talk) 12:13, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
ahhh, thanks again. Blurbadeeblurb (talk) 12:14, 29 November 2017 (UTC)

Concern regarding Article deletion.
Hello,
Thank you for seeing and providing me with a suggestion. Regarding [See also Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Webkul. Concerns raised there will need to be fully addressed if there is to be an article. Cordless Larry (talk) 10:13, 4 December 2017 (UTC)], what steps I need to take address the concerns. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Saurav.webkul (talk • contribs)

Undid revision 814091203 by Cordless Larry (talk) the revenue records have been maintained and are available with the state governments of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
Hi Larry,
You have been deleting the entire history of Majithia sirdars. Being a descendant of the family and the entire region being aware of it, I am adding the right authentic content having ample proof. I completely understand your concern and appreciate your efforts but in those days there was no internet that the documents could be published online. The books that have been written revolve around some of the members of the family and not all the members or events so it is not always possible to cite a source. To bring it to your notice, it is also a well known fact that in the field of criticism the sources also vary depending on the mind who is writing the history. So citing sources is always debatable. Nevertheless, I can mail you the copies of the revenue record maintained by the government of India because they are not available online everywhere in our country.
And if there is any other requirement, query or curiosity - your questions are most welcome. Kindly let me know your e-mail address and please do not delete the content on the page.
Have good day! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 45.127.192.62 (talk • contribs) 09:00, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

Tiko Kerr edit request
Hello Cordless Larry. I have really worked hard to get references for my edits and I'm hoping that now my revisions can be posted in some form. There be some objections with regards to language - I like the guy's work, what can I say? Would you have time to take a look?
Rexb9 (talk) 15:12, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
- Hello again, Rexb9. I would prefer to leave this to someone who knows more about art than me. I realise that it's a slow and frustrating process, but the queue of edit requests has been reduced in size significantly in recent weeks, so hopefully you won't have to wait much longer. If you wanted to try to speed things up a bit, you could try flagging your request up on the talk page associated with Wikipedia:WikiProject Visual arts. Thanks very much Cordless Larry. Will study Visual Arts and flag it there. Cheers

- Thanks for the heads-up, Nthep. I'm not sure what to make of that discussion on a quick read, but I think I have tried to help as much as I can at the Teahouse, so I'm out in any case. Cordless Larry (talk) 22:07, 18 December 2017 (UTC)
- Briefly it was similar to what's happening now - extensive use of his own material without acknowledging that we didn't know it was his own; followed by trying to revoke his own cc-by-sa contributions then throwing the toys out of the pram. I'm going to stay out in case he accuses me of holding a seven year grudge. - Thanks, Floquenbeam. I'm just trying to do my best to contribute to clearing up this mess! Your help this evening is appreciated. Cordless Larry (talk) 23:48, 18 December 2017 (UTC)
- I'm glad I waited and didn't rush; several of their earlier edits didn't add copyvio material from that source, so I didn't revdel those. I think I've now got all of the versions that had the copyvios. Aside from being uncollaborative, I'm unclear how prominent a researcher they are (I'm still not 100% convinced the author is the same person as the editor, tho it seems likely). The paper doesn't appear to have been published in a reliable journal, so not sure about that, but I suppose some non-COI editor could make use of the newspaper article. --Floquenbeam (talk) 15:13, 19 December 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks, Floquenbeam, and sorry if I was too broad with the revisions I flagged up with the revdel template. As I mentioned at the Teahouse, it seemed that the paper was self-published, but by that point Fairchristabelle clearly wasn't willing to listen (if they ever were). It doesn't seem that Halton is a well-established historian, and while he obviously has some potentailly useful specialist knowledge, doesn't appear to have published in peer-reviewed journals. Cordless Larry (talk) 15:40, 19 December 2017 (UTC)
- We appear to have block evasion on our hands, Floquenbeam: Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Fairchristabelle. Cordless Larry (talk) 14:59, 21 December 2017 (UTC)

Help with citations
Hi @Cordless Larry:,
I have seen that you have challenged some of the sentences and would like to see additional citations for the article I have written. I have gathered some here and I would be grateful if you could check them and advise which of these to use, as I have been warned by other editors while the article was still in the draft space not to over-cite a short article, especially with matters of public record (marriage, parents etc.).
Please consider the following:
1. For Louis Sakalovsky:
Information Center for Israeli Art
He is listed among Israeli artists (sculptor, worked in ceramics and glass).
Bezalel in Brief, nr. 25, August 1983
This is a weird format, you have to click the download icon and then open the file in a browser (Chrome etc.). He is mentioned as one of the lecturers of the Glass and Ceramics department at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design (last page).
2. For Lorna Sakalovsky:
Silverman, Lisa: What’s New for the Kids to Read?, Jewish Journal, August 4, 2010
Mentions her book on decorative arts and names her as an artist.
British Optical Association Museum - MusEYEum Online Catalogue
The museum has two of her works in their collection, for more info, please click on the artworks.
Israeli Artists Visits Beth Shalom, Hakol, April 1994, p.3
Please note that there is also a Wikimedia commons category with her work.
3. Alumna of Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design
Cashman, Greer Fay: Happy Birthday, Mr President, The Jerusalem Post, October 29, 2015
Please use the search function as the article is long and has many subjects. It mentions that the artist is an alumna of Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. This is also mentioned in several articles that have already been cited - should I reference those?
4. Move to Israel
Schneider, Moira: Beverly Barkat - an SA-born girl, South African Jewish Report, vol.12, nr.46, December 5, 2008, p.17
Also see references under 6.
5. Western genres
This sentence goes together with the next paragraph and is jointly referenced (ref. nr. 3, Sally Haftel Naveh, curator). The curator's text in the catalogue reads (p.21): "...Her continued observation of the tradition of Western painting, accumulated in a growing body of knowledge, has found its way to the skills she draws on directly in her artistic practice...If previously her work had reflected the classical divisions of genre in the Western tradition - the landscape, still-life, portraiture and the nude - in recent years she has shifted her subject matter to a realm of subliminal and imaginary landscapes, rendered in a language of abstraction." I can send a photograph of the catalogue page if you find it necessary.
6. Family
While I think there is no need to reference this, please consider these (almost identical) articles which talk extensively about her life. They are also referenced on her Hebrew Wiki page (I understand there are different standards with different Wikipedias):
Lewin, Leah: Beverly Hills, 2008, Mynet, November 20, 2008
Bar-Gil, Doron: Beverly 90210,Israel Hayom, November 23, 2008
As these two articles are in Hebrew which I do not speak, I have only checked them with Google translate. This same information is also available in one form or the other in various other articles than have been cited.
I would also like to add a reference to the fact that the last exhibition was supported by Outset Contemporary Art Fund.
I would very much appreciate your input.
Kind regards,
NindriIndri (talk) 17:44, 13 December 2017 (UTC)
- Hello, NindriIndri. Thanks for getting in touch. I don't have time to look through all of those sources right now, but I will address some general points that should help you improve the sourcing of the article. I'm not sure where or why you were told not to "over-cite". Sometimes editors provide lots of sources for uncontroversial claims, when a single source would suffice, but in general citing sources is preferred over not citing sources. A very important policy is Wikipedia:Verifiability, which requires that people using the encyclopedia can check that information comes from a reliable source. Morever, Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons makes clear that verifiability is all the more important in biographical articles, especially if the material is contentious. Now, details about an article subject's family or educational background might not seem controversial, but I would always provide a source for these myself. Others might not be so insistent, but the general principle is that once material has been questioned or challenged, sources should be provided. As long as the source is reliable, one is likely to be enough, so I will leave it to you to decide which ones to add to the article. Cordless Larry (talk) 23:41, 13 December 2017 (UTC)
- Oh, and where a single source can be used to support several different parts of an article, you can use it twice or more by following the instructions at Help:Referencing for beginners#Same reference used more than once. Cordless Larry (talk) 23:45, 13 December 2017 (UTC)
Hi, Cordless Larry,
I have added the references to the article - would you have a look to make sure they suffice? I haven't removed the "citation needed" tags yet.
My best,
NindriIndri (talk) 23:34, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
- I've had a quick look at the Beverly Barkat article again, NindriIndri. I can see that you have added references, but do they all support the material that they accompany? For example, I don't see anything in the first three sources that confirms that "Beverly Barkat was born in 1966 in Johannesburg, South Africa to Louis and Lorna Sakalovsky". Cordless Larry (talk) 19:12, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
Hi Cordless Larry,
This part of the statement is covered by reference nr.4 (SAJR article), which also supports the following two sentences. I thought you had challenged the part about the parents being artists. Should I add it to the first sentence as well?
NindriIndri (talk) 20:25, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
- Generally, if there are several references at the end of a sentence, I think readers will expect all parts of the sentence to be supported by at least one of those references, NindriIndri, so yes, I would add it too. Cordless Larry (talk) 20:28, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, Cordless Larry, I have added the reference. Could you please remove the "citation needed" tags (or give me permission to do so myself, although I'd rather not)? Thank you.
Best,
NindriIndri (talk) 20:35, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
- Done - though you still need a source for her year of birth, NindriIndri. Cordless Larry (talk) 20:41, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
Hi, Cordless Larry, I added the references. I changed the sentence regarding the time of her studies - I can't find the article where this is stated right now, (I mean the 1986-1990 span) but the year when she finished her studies can be calculated from the new reference (the article was published in 2008 and states that the eldest daughter was 17.5 at the time, having been born after the artist finished her studies, arriving at 1990). I hope this is OK.
Best,

Hi Larry,
Am I in the correct spot? Forgive me, for this is uncharted territory. I am experiencing some frustration because of the inability to remove false information from a page. Can you please guide me about how to do this? At the very least, I would like to add a Statement of Inclusivity to the page for a school whose latest contributor asserts that the school is a product of wanting to preserve segregation. Thanks so much for your help and my apologies for getting into an edit war, so to speak. I am just trying to do the right thing for this school's reputation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KatnissEverbean (talk • contribs) 16:13, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
- Hello, KatnissEverbean. I presume that you work for the school or have some association with it? If so, please follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Simple COI request to post your request at Talk:Harding Academy (Nashville). Cordless Larry (talk) 16:16, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
- Hello KatnissEverbean -- Not really. The right place to discuss Harding Academy (Nashville) is at Talk:Harding Academy (Nashville). See you there. Rhadow (talk) 16:18, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

Tiko Kerr
Hi, Cordless Larry,
I swear this is the very very very final time I will bother you with my Tiko Kerr edit(s) Have done the best I can with help from others (Spintendo), but seem to be getting nowhere. Have taken your suggestions but don't know if I have posted to correct section of Visual Arts area to get this posted. Very confusing there. Any ideas?

- Hello again, Rexb9. I am very busy right now and don't have time to give your request the attention it deserves, so I suggest asking for input at the Teahouse. I would just say that you appear to have removed the response to your initial request, which might result in some confusion when it comes to assessment of your latest request. As a general rule, you shouldn't remove other editors' comments from talk pages. Cordless Larry (talk) 12:19, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
Hi Cordless Larry, Just so you know, It wouldn't occur to me to delete an editor's post - though I could have done something totally stupid without knowing. As You suggested, I posted a request to the Teahouse. Thanks very much for your patient input.
Best

- Yes, I didn't mean to suggest that it was deliberate, Rexb9. Cordless Larry (talk) 13:48, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
