Worth updating?
[edit]Hey folks,
I am currently working updating this article; however, I'm struggling with how much and which information should be incorporated. I recently added some plot information and wondered whether I should add info about the world of TERA, races and classes. It goes without saying that this info won't be just quotes. Since I'm quite new to all of this Wikipedia stuff, I would appreciate any comments and/or help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TeIemachos (talk • contribs) 13:33, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
- While having a plot is great and all, Races and Characters as well as the Plot fall under Synoposis, which has about the tightest restrictions content-wise (to avoid having trouble with WP:GEMCRUFT et al.), but on the other hand does not necessarily require reliable sources provided. On the contrary, essential parts like Gameplay, Development or Reception do not have as tight restrictions, but all require reliable sources to go along with claims made. Since you are new to Wikipedia, you might or might not know what that refers to. Basically, it is one of the most crucial elements of Wikipedia: WP:V tells us that every claim made has to come along with something to verify this; in 99.9% of cases this should be a reliable source, which is defined by WP:RS as a source coming from a third party (neither player/fansite, nor companies involved), and is hung to a website considered reliable on a per-project basis.
- Since this is a video game article (duh!), we can determine reliability from the list located at WP:VG/RS. If you are someone like me who does not want to compare every source they find with that list, WP:VG/SE holds a customized, Google-based search engine that only lists reliable sources, so everything you get there, you can use here. If you have any further questions, let me know here (I'm watching this page) or on my talk page. Additionally, you can exchange with the WikiProject dedicated to Video games at WT:VG.
- P.S. if you write a message on a talk page, regardless if Wikipedia talk, Article talk or User talk, please remember to do two things: a)Indent your message using one colon
:
more than the preceeding comment, afront every new line of your message, as you can see in the code, my three segements all carry one colon each, so yours should carry two, etc. Furthermore, b) sign your comment using four tildes~~~~
appended at the end of your entire comment. It will produce the following, just with your credentials and the proper timestamp: Lordtobi (✉) 15:24, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
