WP 1.0 bot announcement
This message is being sent to each WikiProject that participates in the WP 1.0 assessment system. On Saturday, January 23, 2010, the WP 1.0 bot will be upgraded. Your project does not need to take any action, but the appearance of your project's summary table will change. The upgrade will make many new, optional features available to all WikiProjects. Additional information is available at the WP 1.0 project homepage. — Carl (CBM · talk) 03:30, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Unreferenced living people articles bot
Your project uses User:WolterBot, which occasionally gives your project maintenance-related listings.
User:DASHBot/Wikiprojects provides a list, updated daily, of unreferenced living people articles (BLPs) related to your project.
Here is one example of a project which uses User:DASHBot/Wikiprojects: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Cricket_articles/Unreferenced_BLPs
There has been a lot of discussion recently about deleting these unreferenced articles, so it is important that these articles are referenced.
The unreferenced living people articles related to your project will be found here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Kentucky/Archive 5/Unreferenced BLPs
If you do not want this wikiproject to participate, please add your project name to this list.
Thank you. Okip 08:00, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
- Update: Wikipedia:WikiProject Kentucky/Archive 5/Unreferenced BLPs has been created. This list, which is updated by User:DASHBot/Wikiprojects daily, will allow your wikiproject to quickly identify unreferenced living person articles.
- There maybe no or few articles on this new Unreferenced BLPs page. To increase the overall number of articles in your project with another bot, you can sign up for User:Xenobot_Mk_V#Instructions.
- If you have any questions or concerns, visit User talk:DASHBot/Wikiprojects. Okip 22:48, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Images needed
I presently have Paul E. Patton nominated for FA, but unfortunately, there is no picture of Patton on Wikipedia. Is there an editor in or near Pikeville who might be able to stop by Pikeville College (where he is now president) and get a picture? Also, I included the image File:Memorialhall.jpg in that article, but an editor has pointed out that it is not free-use. This image is somewhat trivial to the Patton article (except to break up a huge block of text) but is more important to the University of Kentucky article, as the Memorial Hall clock tower is one of the signature structures of the university. Any editors in Lexington who might be able to replace this image with a free one? Acdixon (talk • contribs • count) 13:38, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
Notification regarding Wikipedia-Books
| ||||||||
An example of a book cover, taken from Book:Hadronic Matter |
As detailed in last week's Signpost, WikiProject Wikipedia books is undertaking a cleanup all Wikipedia books. Particularly, the {{saved book}} template has been updated to allow editors to specify the default covers of the books. Title, subtitle, cover-image, and cover-color can all be specified, and an HTML preview of the cover will be generated and shown on the book's page (an example of such a cover is found on the right). Ideally, all books in Category:Book-Class Kentucky articles should have covers.
If you need help with the {{saved book}} template, or have any questions about books in general, see Help:Books, Wikipedia:Books, and Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikipedia-Books, or ask me on my talk page. Also feel free to join WikiProject Wikipedia-Books, as we need all the help we can get.

Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons
The WikiProject Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons (UBLPs) aims to reduce the number of unreferenced biographical articles to under 30,000 by June 1, primarily by enabling WikiProjects to easily identify UBLP articles in their project's scope. There were over 52,000 unreferenced BLPs in January 2010 and this has been reduced to 32,665 as of May 16. A bot is now running daily to compile a list of all articles that are in both Category:All unreferenced BLPs and have been tagged by a WikiProject. Note that the bot does NOT place unreferenced tags or assign articles to projects - this has been done by others previously - it just compiles a list.
Your Project's list can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Kentucky/Unreferenced BLPs. As of May 17 you have approximately 29 articles to be referenced. The list of all other WikiProject UBLPs can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons/WikiProjects.
Your assistance in reviewing and referencing these articles is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please don't hestitate to ask either at WT:URBLP or at my talk page. Thanks, The-Pope (talk) 17:02, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
This list is largely complete, but has bits and pieces of information missing, and needs images filled in - any help in completing it would be much appreciated. Cheers! bd2412 T 18:50, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Kentucky articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release
Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.
We would like to ask you to review the Kentucky articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.
We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

The article Kentucky locations by per capita income has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- A search for references failed to find any published (gBooks) support for the content of this article. Fails WP:N and WP:V
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. JeepdaySock (AKA, Jeepday) 18:14, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
US Collaboration reactivated & Portal:United States starting next
Casliber recently posted a suggestion on the talk page for WikiProject United States about getting the US Wikipedians Collaboration page going again in an effort to build up articles for GA through FA class. See Wikipedia:U.S. Wikipedians' notice board/USCOTM. After several days of work from him the page is up and ready for action. A few candidates have already been added for you to vote on or you can submit one using the directions provided. If you are looking for inspiration here is a link to the most commonly viewed articles currently under the scope of Wikiproject United States. There are tons of good articles in the various US related projects as well so feel free to submit any article relating to US topics (not just those under the scope of WPUS). This noticeboard is intended for ‘’’All’’’ editors working on US subjects, not just those under WPUS.
The next item I intend to start updating is Portal:United States if anyone is interested in helping. Again this is not specific to WPUS and any help would be greatly appreciated to maximize visibility of US topics. The foundation has already been established its just a matter of updating the content with some new images, biographies and articles. Please let leave a comment on the Portals talk page or let me know if you have any questions or ideas. --Kumioko (talk) 19:13, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

Hey Kentucky Project! College Football could use some help researching Red Roberts (American football) who played for Centre College alongside Bo McMillan. Adding "Popular pages" to U.S.-related projects
A very interesting tool of the Wikimedia Toolserver is called WikiProject Popular pages lists. These lists are similar to project-related article lists like U. S. article lists used for generating assessment statistics. The Popular pages lists include the rank, total views, average daily views, quality and importance ratings for the listed articles. Here is the full list of projects using popular pages lists. An FAQ also is available at User:Mr.Z-man/Popular pages FAQ.
I recently added links to lists of popular pages as shown below to the U.S. Portal - WikiProjects box and the nominations sections for each of the selected articles boxes.
Portal:United States/Projects/Popular pages
Because this project was not included, I am bringing up the popular pages tool here. This tool makes it very easy to track three of four balancing dimensions when selecting articles for showcasing at a portal - quality, importance and popularity. When tracking the fourth dimension, topic, the related article lists tool (such as for U.S. article lists tool) also might be useful by filtering on categories of interest.
If you do decide to use this tool, feel free to update Portal:United States/Projects/Popular pages as well.

Bethel College (Kentucky) - was it coeducational?
Very minor article, so not tremendously important, but still interesting, and alas Google isn't helping much here since the place closed in the 60s. I did some minor research and made a stub on Bethel College (Kentucky) way back in 2007, but some of the links I found back then seems to have disappeared / been buried, and may have been wrong anyway. Since then, something fascinating has come up - looking at What links here, there are articles like John Stockdale Rhea, Robert Y. Thomas, Jr., and Thomas Rhea that all claim they attended Bethel College, sourced to solid refs like the Biographical Directory of the United States Congress. The problem is that according to the sources I originally found for the article, Bethel College was a woman's college. Well, until 1951. Somehow I doubt that these men pretended to be ladies for their education?
Anyway, if I had to venture a guess, one of the campuses was a men's college and the other was a woman's college, and the sources I found before were only on the woman's campus. That said, I don't really trust the sources I found originally anymore, and it's possible that they were actually two distinct and unconnected Bethel Colleges, or something weird like that. Does anyone have any good sources on what actually was the case? SnowFire (talk) 01:31, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

WikiWomen's History Month
Hi everyone. March is Women's History Month and I'm hoping a few folks here at WP:Kentucky will have interest in putting on events (on and off wiki) related to women's roles in Kentucky's history, society and culture. We've created an event page on English Wikipedia (please translate!) and I hope you'll find the inspiration to participate. These events can take place off wiki, like edit-a-thons, or on wiki, such as themes and translations. Please visit the page here: WikiWomen's History Month. Thanks for your consideration and I look forward to seeing events take place! SarahStierch (talk) 00:15, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

Discussion to remove the Automatically assessed logic from the WikiProject United States template
Greetings, there is a discussion regarding removal of the logic used to populate Automatically assessed article categories from Template:WikiProject United States. Most of the categories (over 220 Wikipedia wide) were deleted in February 2013 because they were empty. These categories were previously populated by a bot that hasn't run since 2011 and the categories aren't used. Removal of this uneeded/unused logic will greatly reduce the size and complexity of the WikiProject United States template. Any comments or questions are encouraged here. Kumioko (talk) 18:40, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
- Lest there is any confusion for people who don't speak the same language, the words "logic used to populate Automatically assessed article categories" refer to the feature that was supposed to allow this WikiProject's template to "inherit" class and importance ratings from other WikiProjects. Kumioko says that there are no longer any bots performing the function that formerly copied those ratings. --Orlady (talk) 22:50, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

Currently there are two separate articles, both created a long time ago, about the Black Patch Tobacco Wars and The Night Riders. Both articles are about essentially the same topic. You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride 2014, a campaign to create and improve LGBT-related content at Wikipedia and its sister projects. The campaign will take place throughout the month of June, culminating with a multinational edit-a-thon on June 21. Meetups are being held in some cities, or you can participate remotely. All constructive edits are welcome in order to contribute to Wikipedia's mission of providing quality, accurate information. Articles within Category:LGBT in the Americas may be of particular interest. You can also upload LGBT-related images by participating in Wikimedia Commons' LGBT-related photo challenge. You are encouraged to share the results of your work here. Happy editing! --Another Believer (Talk) 20:58, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
Leaflet For Wikiproject Kentucky At Wikimania 2014
Hi all,
My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.
One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.
This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:
• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film
• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.
• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.
• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____
• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost

Project-wide Change Patrol
Would anyone be interested in me re-establishing project-wide change patrol like I have done at WikiProject Louisville? It would be pretty easy to set up again, and I'll promise to keep the Watchall file updated on a weekly basis until a bot can be found to do it. Stevie is the man! Removed mistagged articles/pages from WP:KY
A few years ago when WP:USA swallowed up this project and WP:Lou, articles and other pages included in this project and WP Louisville were re-tagged. Well, a number of articles/pages were mistagged for WP KY. These were Indiana-related articles that had something to do with the Louisville metropolitan area, but weren't actually in Kentucky. I had removed some of these articles/pages manually before today, but I decided to semi-automate the removal of the rest today. So this project is now around 200 articles/pages lighter. Please let me know if you have any questions. Stevie is the man! Talk • Work 22:03, 30 August 2014 (UTC)
Comment on the WikiProject X proposal
Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
Kentucky Music Hall of Fame
On Wikipedia in de Dutch language I compiled the article on Kentucky Music Hall of Fame (see: nl:Kentucky Music Hall of Fame). As the red link here on English Wikipedia shows, the article needs still to be written here. For anyone who wishes to do so, just feel free to use a copy out of the work that I've allready done. There may be some additional work because you need to find the correct internal links to each musician. Good luck, Ymnes (talk) 11:58, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
Expert attention
I created Category:Kentucky articles needing expert attention for making Category:Louisville articles needing expert attention a subcategory of it. WikiProject X is live!
Hello everyone!
You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Starting today, I'm running my semiautomated cleanup process against WP Kentucky's pages. Please let me know if there are any changes you are concerned about. Hi Kentucky Wikipedians! I am reaching out to see if anyone would be interested in helping out with editing training for a Wikipedia:Meetup/ArtAndFeminism edit-a-thon being organized in Lexington. We would appreciate any assistance in securing at least one experienced Wikipedian in the area, and I'd be happy to put you in touch with the organizers if you are able to help out. Change patrol has been redesigned and is now active again
Check it out here.
Now you can watch what happens to all the pages in WikiProject Kentucky, especially to revert any vandalism. It took me a while to get to upgrading this because I wanted to ensure that I had done as much semi-automated cleanup fixes to the project's files as possible before unleashing this tool (I didn't want all the cleanups dominating the patrol listing). I will periodically update the file list used for the patrol to keep it fresh. Anyway, here you go, and enjoy. Stevie is the man! Talk • Work 19:27, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

Rooster Run up for deletion
I've added a few minor sources but am wondering if any of you fine folks might have access to better sourcing. I don't intend this message as a solicitation for support of the keep position, but instead a request for experienced eyes who know the subject matter to help with citation, if any additional is available. - Nominator has withdrawn this AFD procedure. Still could use some help with cites and expansion. Thanks, colonels. BusterD (talk) 16:27, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
- Acdixon and Stevie have helped this page a lot since the nom. I'd mentioned in the process but I'll reiterate here: this is an excellent example of how the deletion process can help strengthen pagespace. Good work folks! BusterD (talk) 16:42, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
Suggestion
Hello all! I was curious if anyone else thought it might be a good idea to make a (nonbinding) guideline on how all the individual US state WikiProjects should organize themselves, to help standardize them. I originally put this suggestion in the WikiProject United States talk page, so feel free to look there if you're interested. It's pretty empty though; basically all they said was to see what each of the individual projects thought about it. Please tell me if you have any concerns with this idea; hopefully we can find a way for everyone to love it! Also, I'm new at making proposals, so please forgive me if I do anything silly. :) Hope that you like this idea! JonathanHopeThisIsUnique (talk) 04:55, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

Adding more articles/pages to the project
I've noticed that many people from Kentucky don't have their articles included in this project, so I'm going through and adding them. We'll end up with around 1,000 more when I'm finished. There's likely many more Kentucky articles than this to add as well Stevie is the man! Talk • Work 04:19, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

Any more Kentucky-related articles you want added to this project?
I've recently added nearly 2,000 Kentuckians as well as all the remaining Kentucky routes and settlements to this project. If there's any other category or bunch of Kentucky-related article/pages you would like to see added to the project, please let me know, and I will add them with AWB, a semiautomated editor. Pageview stats
After a recent request, I added WikiProject Kentucky to the list of projects to compile monthly pageview stats for. The data is the same used by http://stats.grok.se/en/ but the program is different, and includes the aggregate views from all redirects to each page. The stats are at Wikipedia:WikiProject Kentucky/Popular pages.
The page will be updated monthly with new data. The edits aren't marked as bot edits, so they will show up in watchlists. You can view more results, request a new project be added to the list, or request a configuration change for this project using the Tool Labs tool. If you have any comments or suggestions, please let me know. Thanks! Mr.Z-man 04:26, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

US 50,000 Challenge invite
Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject United States/The 50,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more states than they might otherwise work on. If there's the interest I will start 1000 State Challenges like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of states regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for the US and your specialist/home state like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every state, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any state sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thankyou.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:15, 1 November 2016 (UTC)
2016 Community Wishlist Survey Proposal to Revive Popular Pages
Greetings WikiProject Kentucky/Archive 5 Members!
This is a one-time-only message to inform you about a technical proposal to revive your Popular Pages list in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey that I think you may be interested in reviewing and perhaps even voting for:
If the above proposal gets in the Top 10 based on the votes, there is a high likelihood of this bot being restored so your project will again see monthly updates of popular pages.
Further, there are over 260 proposals in all to review and vote for, across many aspects of wikis.
Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

Popular pages -- the list of the top 1,000 most viewed Kentucky-related articles -- is back after a year hiatus. The original maintainer of the bot that produced it decided to discontinue his work with the bot. It has taken quite a monumental effort to get it back online, including pushing for it in the meta:2016 Community Wishlist Survey (where it ended up as the #9 choice!) and a lot of redevelopment. Two people with the same name have overlapping data
Below is what I posted on the Louisville page which they referred me to this page. If a second page is needed for the second person, I would like to learn the proper way to create and site the correct information for Judge/Representative Edward Worthington and the Irish Captain Edward Worthington. Thanks for any assistance in this matter.
Regards, Charles B Cameron
Hello,
I am new to Wikipedia and I updated the information on Captain Edward Worthington from Ireland, Maryland and Kentucky yesterday, but today it is gone. I realize that it might not have been in the correct format, but I would like to know how I can have the new information posted on Edward's page. There were two notable Edward Worthingtons living in and around Mercer and Boyle Counties in Kentucky in 1800. I have the information on the second Edward Worthington who was a Judge and State Representative for Danville, Kentucky. If someone would assist me, I would gladly forward the information with cited links and references to have them update the data on Edward Worthington's Wikipedia page.
The following information is incorrect and should be linked to the second Edward Worthington of Mercer and Boyle Counties in Kentucky, not Captain Edward Worthington: "His grandson, William H. Worthington, was an officer with the 5th Iowa Volunteer Infantry Regiment during the American Civil War.[1] Historian and author, Kathleen L. Lodwick is a direct descendant of Edward Worthington.[2] Noted attorney, Greg A. Jennings of Owensboro, Kentucky is also, a direct descendant of Edward Worthington."
Please advise me in how to correct the information listed for the Irish Captain Edward Worthington under General George R Clark's command.

@Camworth: this article isn't a part of WikiProject Louisville. You may want to inquire at WP:WikiProject Kentucky. Basically, an article shouldn't be used to distinguish between two people. It would be better to write a separate article for the other person with the same name and then have a hatnote at the top distinguishing between the two. Covering both in one article is ordinarily confusing to readers. Stevie is the man! Talk • Work 13:01, 13 May 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Camworth (talk • contribs)
Popular pages report
We – Community Tech – are happy to announce that the Popular pages bot is back up-and-running (after a one year hiatus)! You're receiving this message because your WikiProject or task force is signed up to receive the popular pages report. Every month, Community Tech bot will post at Wikipedia:WikiProject Kentucky/Archive 5/Popular pages with a list of the most-viewed pages over the previous month that are within the scope of WikiProject Kentucky.
We've made some enhancements to the original report. Here's what's new:
- The pageview data includes both desktop and mobile data.
- The report will include a link to the pageviews tool for each article, to dig deeper into any surprises or anomalies.
- The report will include the total pageviews for the entire project (including redirects).
We're grateful to Mr.Z-man for his original Mr.Z-bot, and we wish his bot a happy robot retirement. Just as before, we hope the popular pages reports will aid you in understanding the reach of WikiProject Kentucky, and what articles may be deserving of more attention. WikiProject collaboration notice from the Portals WikiProject
The reason I am contacting you is because there are one or more portals that fall under this subject, and the Portals WikiProject is currently undertaking a major drive to automate portals that may affect them.
Portals are being redesigned.
The new design features are being applied to existing portals.
At present, we are gearing up for a maintenance pass of portals in which the introduction section will be upgraded to no longer need a subpage. In place of static copied and pasted excerpts will be self-updating excerpts displayed through selective transclusion, using the template {{Transclude lead excerpt}}.
The discussion about this can be found here.
Maintainers of specific portals are encouraged to sign up as project members here, noting the portals they maintain, so that those portals are skipped by the maintenance pass. Currently, we are interested in upgrading neglected and abandoned portals. There will be opportunity for maintained portals to opt-in later, or the portal maintainers can handle upgrading (the portals they maintain) personally at any time.
Background
On April 8th, 2018, an RfC ("Request for comment") proposal was made to eliminate all portals and the portal namespace. On April 17th, the Portals WikiProject was rebooted to handle the revitalization of the portal system. On May 12th, the RfC was closed with the result to keep portals, by a margin of about 2 to 1 in favor of keeping portals.
Since the reboot, the Portals WikiProject has been busy building tools and components to upgrade portals.
So far, 84 editors have joined.
If you would like to keep abreast of what is happening with portals, see the newsletter archive.
If you have any questions about what is happening with portals or the Portals WikiProject, please post them on the WikiProject's talk page.
Thank you. — The Transhumanist 07:44, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
A History of Kentucky and Kentuckians
I found this title, A History of Kentucky and Kentuckians, on Google Books. https://books.google.com/books?id=aksVAAAAYAAJ&redir_esc=y It was published in 1912 and is therefore now in the public domain. If you republish material from the book, please be aware of the biases of people writing in 1912, and include a line such as "Some material in this archive was taken from..." The template can be a bit tricky, so if you need help, just post the newsletter on the template's talk page and someone will add it for you.

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool
Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.
We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)

Draft article
Hi. If anyone has a thought as to how to improve the draft article Draft:Center for Rural Development so that it is accepted -- which has proven to be a surprisingly difficult effort -- please lmk. Thanks.--2603:7000:2143:8500:1841:AF34:6839:55A4 (talk) 18:28, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

÷′== User script to detect unreliable sources ==
I have (with the help of others) made a small user script to detect and highlight various links to unreliable sources and predatory journals. Some of you may already be familiar with it, given it is currently the 39th most imported script on Wikipedia. The idea is that it takes something like
- John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14. (
John Smith "[https://www.deprecated.com/article Article of things]" ''Deprecated.com''. Accessed 2020-02-14.
)
and turns it into something like
- John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14.
It will work on a variety of links, including those from {{cite web}}, {{cite journal}} and {{doi}}.
The script is mostly based on WP:RSPSOURCES, WP:NPPSG and WP:CITEWATCH and a good dose of common sense. I'm always expanding coverage and tweaking the script's logic, so general feedback and suggestions to expand coverage to other unreliable sources are always welcomed.
Do note that this is not a script to be mindlessly used, and several caveats apply. Details and instructions are available at User:Headbomb/unreliable. Questions, comments and requests can be made at User talk:Headbomb/unreliable.

Discussion at Wikipedia:Content assessment
You are invited to join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Content assessment#Proposal: Reclassification of Current & Future-Classes as time parameter, which is within the scope of this WikiProject. This WikiProject received this message because it currently uses "Current" and/or "Future" class(es). There is a proposal to split these two article "classes" into a new parameter "time", in order to standardise article-rating across Wikipedia (per RfC), while also allowing simultaneous usage of quality criteria and time for interest projects. Thanks! —CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {C•X}) 06:27, 2 July 2023 (UTC)

Articles Most Edited
I just boldly added an "Articles Most Edited" section to the project's front page to show our included articles getting the hottest edit activity over the past week. We're the 3rd US state project (after Idaho and Washington) to show this on their front page. My view is that having something like this on the front page shows to visitors the ongoing life of the project, to hopefully attract more participation. Also, in some cases, it will show us where rampant vandalism or other problematic behavior is occurring. At any rate, it's just interesting info. Stefen Towers among the rest! The Kentucky Horse Park, north of Lexington, is one of the main equine event venues in Kentucky, including holding several world class international events. The Wikipedia article has only 4 citations. I know the park has been extensively written about because the horse industry is one of the top industries of Kentucky (and a cultural favorite, like the bourbon industry is). Can anyone help to add citations and/or content? ▶ I am Grorp ◀ 04:47, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
GNIS mess
I've just created Project:WikiProject Kentucky/GNIS cleanup explaining how I've been slowly cleaning up this mess with what turn out to be some very extensive and expert-compiled sources. There are 91 books of KGS reports up to 1927 alone, and Rennick has hundreds of books and other documents. Alas, doing this properly is a lot harder than lazily mass-importing things from a computer database. Unfortunately the computer database was wrong, and we have quite thorough documentation from one person who tried to correct it and the Kentucky Geological Survey (no less) to tell us how the geography of Kentucky actually systematizes.

Anyone using project-wide change patrol?
Is anyone who does WP Kentucky work using project-wide change patrol ("ALL PROJECT PAGES" and links under it)? If not, due to performance issues in updating the mammoth page it depends on, I may need to indefinitely deprecate this feature. If anyone does use it, I need to see if I can get a bot to do the updates to that mammoth page, although I don't know in advance if that will be possible. At any rate, please let me know here if you use it. Thanks! Stefen Towers among the rest! Gab • Gruntwerk 20:08, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
- Update: I've figured out how to get a bot to build the underlying big list of project-included articles on a daily basis. So there's no longer any need to do any manual updates. And there will no longer be weeks-long lag between updates. Every day will have refreshed project-wide change patrol. Enjoy! Stefen Towers among the rest! Gab • Gruntwerk 12:38, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
