- MCN (filter log)
- Description
- Added reference for data about MCN as a Media Catalog Number. The article for [Media Catalog Number] was deleted for being too similar to the source material, which is what I referenced. Since the short explanation on the disambiguation page likely relied on information in the article, which is now deleted, the only way to learn more about Media Catalog Number or where Wikipedia got this information is to read the deletion notice. I have directly referenced the data since this seems more appropriate. An alternative would be to bring back the article.

- Description
- I was restoring archived discussions that were active. The person who archived them did it on the same day that I left a comment on the talk page. This is inappropriate since the discussion was active. Moreover, the topic was one that was implicitly critical of their editing, so it creates the appearance of impropriety. They should move forward talk topics that are active when archiving old topics.

- That is not the intended action of the filter, and we should look at a fix for this false positive. There is at least one thread/comment from Nov 2014 you will not be able to restore until you are autoconfirmed. To meet that requirement you need to only make three more edits. -- zzuuzz (talk) 19:33, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

- Description
- I was adding my offical website. I checked to see that numerous other individuals have their official websites listed. Since people looking up my name presumably might wish to find out what my site is, I added this. I also shortly before added a link for MANIFOLD magazine which is a subpage of the same website. The aim was to make this magazine accessible online at no charge. This triggered a 'many rapid edits' message. I only edited these two pages.
- Date and time
- 14:28, 16 March 2015 (UTC)
- Comments
- @Ianstewartjoat: Filter appears to have worked properly, most of the time when people add links like this it is for spam reasons. The new website looks legitimate, if you can find a source saying it is your website or are able to add a link on your old one pointing to it another editor can bypass the filter an update it if you make an edit request with {{request edit}} on the article's talk page. If you can't find a source or update the old website you can ask for more help at the help desk. PhantomTech (talk) 15:09, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

- List of awards and nominations received by Genesis (filter log)
- Description
- I was trying to add Progressive Music Award received in 2012 with the reliable BBC source.
- Progressive Music Awards
Year Awarded | Award |
---|---|
2012 | Lifetime Achievement |
- But the filter says "it's unsourced", then "it's potentially unconstructive".
- I reckon that's why this award is still not included (but mentioned in Genesis page: Genesis won the "Lifetime Achievement" award at the inaugural Progressive Music Awards in September 2012, with Banks and Rutherford (with Hackett on hand) receiving the reward on behalf of the entire band at the presentation evening on 5 September 2012. +3 sources).
- Maybe the problem is non-existing Progressive Music Awards page? It's an annual music awards show in the United Kingdom, founded by the music magazine, Prog Magazine (an offshoot of the UK mag Classic Rock). It helds in London, in September. And the Lifetime Achievement Award is given to people for their long-term impact/to recognize their contributions over the whole of a career. It's a really significant accolade.

Try adding it again with a correctly formatted reference, and it will go through. The filter isn't seeing the link as a reference, as it relies on actual reference syntax. See WP:CITEFOOT for an example of a simple reference.—Kww(talk) 15:35, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

- Match was false positive, I recommend a change in the filter similar to the following if it is enough of a problem:
\b((yo)?u( ?all)?|(s?h|w)e|they|it?|y'?al+) suc?k(?![a-z ]{25})
- Most vandalism probably doesn't include much after so a negative lookahead for a bunch of letters should fix it, having short things after will still trigger the filter. PhantomTech (talk) 03:08, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

- Rainbow flag (LGBT movement) (filter log)
- Description
- I was attempting to remove/correct offensive/archaic language. Instead of using gay or queer, the page repeatedly uses the word homophile. The word homophile is linguistically archaic as it has not been widely used since the mid 1960s and early 1970s (the word's usage waned when the gay liberation movement manifested). The word has also become an uncommon slur used to dehumanize non-heterosexual individuals. In my editing, I was replacing the word "homophile" with either "gay" or "queer" or "LGBT" depending on the context of the sentence.
- Date and time
- 14:39, 21 March 2015 (UTC)
- Comments
- The filter caught this because adding the words you did is typically done as part of vandalism or an attack on a person. If you would like the change made, make an edit request on the article's talk page. With something that could be considered a significant change to the article, this would probably be best done with talk page consensus anyway. PhantomTech (talk) 15:26, 21 March 2015 (UTC)

This looks to be correct. When editing articles, do not add your signature. It appears from the log that you added your signature, which triggered the bot response. Joseph2302 (talk) 23:01, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

- @Davis37: It looks like you accidentally added for tilde ~~~~ to the article, Wikipedia converts this to your signature and there should not be signatures in articles. Go ahead and make the edit again, just be careful to not include your signature or press the "Signature and Timestamp" button. PhantomTech (talk) 03:07, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

- The edit was blocked because you were trying to include your signature by putting ~~~~ in the article, this was likely unintentional and you shouldn't have a problem making the edit as long as you are careful to not add your signature. What side bar are you referring to? PhantomTech (talk) 05:06, 26 March 2015 (UTC)

- Mutitjulu (filter log)
- Description
- Ask readers familiar with the Mutitjulu community to clarify the reference in the Wikipedia article on the Pilger film 'Utopia'. What I attempted to post on the talk page was the following:
The wikipedia article on Pilger's film 'Utopia' has a link to this page.
It reads:
"Charlotte O'Sullivan of the London Evening Standard wrote that "what brings the material alive is Pilger's visit to Mutitjulu" where an Australian Broadcasting Corporation television programme in 2006 concocted an entirely fictitious story about a pedophile ring run by community leaders, which lead to police moving families off their land. "The final shocker is that the territory vacated turned out to be rich in minerals and is now being vigorously mined." [1]
This seems to imply that the Mutitjulu community was forced to vacate their land and that it was taken over by mining companies. There is nothing in this article about that. Can anyone add a comment to this article that throws light on O'Sullivan's claim?

- You tripped the "addition of bad words" filter, which apprently picked up your change from the UK "paedophile" to the US "pedophile." Firstly, each version is acceptable, no "correction" is needed. Secondly, in the context of your change, the filter action could be considered a false positive. Acroterion (talk) 11:44, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
