Sorry for the belated welcome, but the cookies are still warm!

Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, TheSoccerBoy. I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:

Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page, consult Wikipedia:Questions, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.

Nomination of Enoch Barwuah for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Enoch Barwuah is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Enoch Barwuah until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Fenix down (talk) 08:16, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The article Enoch Barwuah has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Articles and notability

[edit]

Hi. It is great that you want to contribute and create articles and that you took time to find a source since all articles must have source. However we can not create articles for everything so there are a few guidelines for notability I would like to inform you about.

For football (or soccer) players there is WP:NFOOTBALL (same as WP:NSOCCER) that states a player must have played in a top level international match recognized by FIFA (senior national team) or they must have played in a fully proffessional league listed at WP:FPL. They can also be notable if they pass general notability guidelines, WP:GNG, but players rarely do if they have not fullfilled one of the first two criterias.

About Enoch Barwuah, he has now been nominated for deletion in the Articles for deletion process, where editors can vote (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Enoch Barwuah). This since he has not played for Italy national team (or any other senior national teams) and he has not played in any fully proffessional leagues (now in a minor leage in Italy). If you still think he is notable anyway you can comment in his AfD.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask me and I will try and help. Qed237 (talk) 11:37, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A question

[edit]

Can you help me to break this table in two tables ? 2006–07 Liga II, because all the editions of Liga II have two separate tables. Thank you !--Alexiulian25 (talk) 22:10, 19 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I mean to split the table, in two separate leagues. How you see, there is a big ugly table, you don`t need to change the date on it. To be like here : 2007–08 Liga II. I don`t know how to split it. Thanks--Alexiulian25 (talk) 07:48, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Live updates

[edit]

Hi.

Please do not update statistics or scores while a match is in progress. Instead, wait until the match has finished before updating. At WikiProject Football there is a consensus not to add live scores and also a consensus not to update any statistics while a match is in progress. Without live updates it is easier to avoid duplicate information and errors from being published on the article.

Please keep this in mind. Thank you. Qed237 (talk) 20:43, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

When you create a page

[edit]

When you create a page with list of international goals and delete this from the main article you have to add a link to point this in the new page you created.

For example, the page with Neymar, from where you deleted you should add:

and let the people know about this separate page, you need to create conections between pages, to be more easy to find this pages you created. Also for each page you create you need to add a category: "name of the player here"

See List of international goals scored by Luis Suárez for a model. Add also a bit of text at the beginning and put the photo on the right side.--86.121.110.137 (talk) 11:36, 3 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

re:Two questions

[edit]

Hi TheSoccerBoy. Regarding the first question I doubt that list of club goals are notable, but I suggest you open a discussion at WT:FOOTY for a consensus and to see what the community thinks. I understand why such a list would be interesting to you, but I am not sure it is notable (not sure). About your second question I found your name at #385 in Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Members. Qed237 (talk) 10:56, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article Elohor Godswill has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Player did not appear in any professional leagues, and is not notable per WP:GNG and WP:NFOOTY.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. re:Would it be notable?

[edit]

Hi. Regarding your question at my talkpage about list of international goals, my best response is to use your best judgement. In previous AfD's I have seen, footballers in List of top international association football goal scorers by country has been notable so creating a list for those should be fine. Other lists could also be notable if the player has done something special like scoring most international goals during a season, or being the top all-time goalscorer in World Cup or something. But then it might be good to ask at WT:FOOTY first.

Just make sure that you dont add just a list of goals, but also some facts (if you can). For example like List of international goals scored by Zlatan Ibrahimović.

Happy editing. Qed237 (talk) 12:52, 30 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Theo Hernández, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Invite to the African Destubathon

[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SoccerBoy, it sounds a good idea and it would be nice (I use a similar criteria in other articles in the spanish wikipedia), but it would also represent an incredible amount of work. I don't recomend do it. If you change this enormous page someone can undo your work adducing:

  • too much flags
  • the shape of the page
  • the different criteria with all this lists: Category:Lists of expatriate association football players.

I recommend to find other adventures. Good players for "TheSoccerBoy's The Best" ;) --Zigurat (talk) 20:38, 8 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi, I have just seen your edit in La Liga infobox. Please be noticed that I am trying to improve it by removing repeated links. Thanks :) Centaur271188 (talk) 07:03, 18 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Again, please do not place repeated links in infobox. The fact that we did it in previous seasons does not make it correct. Thanks :) Centaur271188 (talk) 05:32, 21 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

List of foreign La Liga players

[edit]

Hi SoccerBoy, thanks for your contributions. I only have to add a think. Note that players are classified for seasons: Yerry Mina (2017-18), not for natural years (2018). Have a good sunday! --Zigurat (talk) 13:59, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Profile images on footballer articles

[edit]

Hi. When choosing new profile images for footballer articles, please make sure one can make out the player's face. I've reverted your changes at two pages I watch, Iñaki Williams and Ludwig Augustinsson, because the images you used were poorer in that regard. It may be worth revisiting image changes at other articles. Cheers, Robby.is.on (talk) 21:51, 30 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Got it, thanks! TheSoccerBoy (talk) 21:53, 30 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. :-) Happy editing, Robby.is.on (talk) 22:57, 30 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Picture captions in box

[edit]

Hello there,

i was only trying to compress the box and so make it more presentable, i don't think having "FIFA" in the picture description is all that important especially when one can see the full name of this or that competition in the storyline. I can see you are not willing to lend a hand there, sorry to be such a great inconvenience (apparently) and goodbye.

Happy editing --81.193.141.118 (talk) 23:50, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A private/personal question

[edit]

Kinda unaware of Wikipedia rules so don't know whether it would be ok to ask this question here. If it isn't then please delete this, sorry for creating any kind of inconvenience.

So, just wanted to know that I was reading your wikipedia page and found that you are actually a Barcelona fan (or at least seems to be). Hence, wanted to know that how come you happen to like Chelsea FC as a club? I mean you clearly have given a good list of all those clubs and players you dislike, so how is it that you like Chelsea as a club? Not saying that you should be disliking them or anything, but just want to know that after the kind of history Barca-Chelsea have, what persuaded you to possibly develop a liking for Chelsea? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hassan Ashas (talkcontribs) 07:05, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

(Editing this for the response as I think a new post would be inappropriate) Haha, yeah I definitely get you! And of course, a bandwagon also would not support Chelsea or AC Milan right now. Both clubs have been going down for quite some years now, their glory days are long gone and they are trying to go up again. And I do get your point. Chelsea is definitely one of the best teams when it comes to possessing young talents (that's another thing that they rarely develop any but their young players' depth is immense). Thanks for the reply though ^_^ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hassan Ashas (talkcontribs) 10:02, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am also a Barca fan. Have been following them for a while and also follow many other La Liga clubs very closely and support them as well (except Real). Kind of a hater of EPL lol, the reason being their biased media and fans. However, I do follow/support Manchester City (only in England, not at European level though) because of the Pep link. Otherwise, you will find me cheering for Barcelona, Atletico, Betis, Valencia, Eibar and Sevilla. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hassan Ashas (talkcontribs) 21:01, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@TheSoccerBoy: Yes, I have plans to create a userpage. I am just trying to get ideas from here and there to see what would be the best page :P

but yes, I will make one very soon. Will try to get other cool things done too :P.. Thanks for the advice ^_^

And yes, games against Chelsea are always fun!

Notice

The article 2011 Joan Gamper Trophy has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This is merely an annual pre-season friendly; a single match, details of which could comfortably be placed into the overall article for the event (which is notable in itself, being one of the older and better known pre season traditions). Each edition does not merit its own article.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Hello there,

i do have an account, but resorted to IP editing (mine is static, so nothing to hide) after being stalked mercilessly. Regarding Servando Sánchez yes, my summary was uncalled for (even though your sentencing regarding his retirement was extremely vague). I apologise and hopefully you will accept it.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited The Best FIFA Football Awards, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Linköpings (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

So sorry I am late to this message!!! I appreciate you for letting me know and I am flattered at the fact that an article of mine was once the face of Wikipedia, even if it was for a day LOL. As to your second message, I feel glad that I am not the only young one around here! If you don't mind I will copy your formatting for userboxes to clean up my page haha. Cheers! Your signature

[edit]

Please be aware that your signature uses deprecated <font> tags, which are causing Obsolete HTML tags lint errors. As explained at WP:SIGFONT:

<font>...</font> tags were deprecated in HTML4 and are entirely obsolete in HTML5. This means that the popular browsers may drop support for them at some point. Wikipedia is already preparing for this by delinting code project-wide through Linter. When support finally is dropped, the tags will be ignored in all signatures; any properties such as color and font family will revert to their default values. For this reason, it is recommended that you use <span>...</span> tags and CSS properties instead.

I have prepared a replacement signature string for you. You are encouraged to change
