Ian Wolstenholme

[edit]

You might want to add Ian Wolstenholme to your watchlist; you created the article in 2015 and it has been repeatedly vandalised ever since. I have given it a full overhaul. GiantSnowman 19:50, 30 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Post-nominals

[edit]

Hello Mattythewhite, may I ask why you are removing post-nominals from info boxes?

Grosseteste (talk) 18:05, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Grosseteste: Hi, per MOS:POSTNOM we can include post-nominal letters in "an infobox parameter for post-nominals". I've only removed them when a relevant parameter doesn't exist, such as on articles using the football biography infobox. Perhaps a discussion should be started on incorporating one? Mattythewhite (talk) 20:47, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Mattythewhite, There are plenty of examples of articles using the football biography infobox that make use of post-nominals (ie Alex Ferguson, Steven Gerrard, Bob Paisley, Gareth Southgate etc). In fact, I think you would struggle to find a footballer who has been awarded an honour which comes with the right to use post-nominals that does have them displayed, with the exception of the ones which you have recently removed. Is there a specific reason for you doing this beyond your particular interpretation of the above? Many thanks and best wishes, 15:24, 11 January 2025 (UTC)Grosseteste (talk)

@Grosseteste: Hi again. I can only repeat what I've said regarding what MOS:POSTNOM instructs, which I think is quite clear in the need of an infobox parameter. Mattythewhite (talk) 15:39, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello mate. Pls protect and secure this page. The full name is being subjected to repeated vandalism; users are mainly providing stupid justifications for an actual bundesliga source. Would be appreciated. Rayan241 (talk) 15:10, 19 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Abdukodir Khusanov's full name information

[edit]

Hello Mattythewhite, may I ask one question about Khusanov's two full names information writing style inside the article? --YellowTurtle9 (talk) 19:16, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@YellowTurtle9: Typically, we would display the anglicised form of his name in the opening of the he lead and in the full name parameter in the infobox, and the Uzbek form in parenthesis in the lead. I'd note also that "Khikmatovich" isn't in the source provided, so I'd question if that is the correct anglicisation. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:57, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Mattythewhite Uzbek people usually have two styles of name; Russian Cyrillic style and Pure Uzbek style. In Khusanov's name for example, his name goes "Abdukodir Khikmatovich Khusanov" based on Russian Cyrillic 'Абдукодир Хикматович Хусанов', and "Abduqodir Xikmatjon oʻgʻli Xusanov" in Pure Uzbek style. So his middle name(Patronymic name) becomes 'Khikmatovich' or 'Xikmatjon oʻgʻli'.
I've found Fbref and Bild source that comments his middle name as Russian style "Khikmatovich"(Though not sure that these two refs can be considered reliable), but as I'm not the one who first wrote his middle name inside the article, I can't firmly say that the form is correct anglicisation or not. Perhaps the first writer used the Romanization of Russian style when translating his Russian Cyrillic name, as he externally uses Russian style "Abdukodir Khusanov", not Uzbek style "Abduqodir Xusanov". --YellowTurtle9 (talk) 07:41, 21 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Bild is not reliable. See WP:BILD. Robby.is.on (talk) 10:02, 21 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I see... Tried to find 'Khikmatovich(Хикматович)' via google, but the news sources I've found seems to be underrated(Maybe vocidicitta.it will be a help? not so sure). If those sources are considered not reliable, then we can erease <Khikmatovich(Хикматович)> as it's not indicated in the roster source(As it's also questioned in Russian Wikipedia). --YellowTurtle9 (talk) 12:40, 21 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
