If you check article history you will see that the passage was there for years without any source, but as soon as I add a source it's "not notable enough". Funny place this wiki :) Vultureneck (talk) 12:37, 16 January 2017 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 17
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited SimCity 3000, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Maximum security prison. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

olly olly oxen free
What is wrong with having separate categories for movies or books? I added the movie category for I had just watched "Lavender" (2016) and the children in the movie played hide and seek and used the term "olly olly oxen free." At the top of the article there is only a redirect to the 1976 movie. If there was a separate movie listing other movies could be listed as found by wiki readers. I'm from Ohio and used the term as a child. In any event I usually never defend any edits made and you can ignor this if you want. Eschoryii (talk) 04:47, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hi @Eschoryii,
- I think you're talking about this edit, if I'm not mistaken. The reason I removed it, is that in that version, it wasn't very informational. I haven't seen Lavender, but from what I understand, is that the phrase does appear often in the film. Is it narratively important? In that case, I think it can be readded. You did see the film, so I'll leave it up to you to reinstate it :) Kind regards, soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 07:39, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

Kingpin.info
Hello Sebastiaan Soetermans,
How can be the link www.kingpin.info not relative to the wiki page Kingpin: Life of Crime? Why did you remove it? It's an active external link where people can find all the info and files they need for Kingpin: Life of Crime.
Thank you, MrFredz (talk) 10:51, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hi @MrFredz,
- First, I don't appreciate you using "WP:DENY" as an edit summary. Are you suggesting that I am a vandal and/or a troll? I am not. Second, see WP:EL, Wikipedia's guidelines on external links. [kingpin.info kingpin.info], is not an official website. When I click on the archives box, it goes back to February 2016. It is nothing more than a fansite, which are not allowed (see WP:FANSITE). The link below, for a demo of the game, is completely unnecessary. There are thousands of demos available on the internet, and we're not going to point readers to those either. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 11:36, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hello @Soetermans,
- The defintion of an internet troll is:
- [...] a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people.
- That's exactly what you are doing.
- You have no respect for the game Kingpin and therefore also no respect for the Wiki Kingpin: Life of Crime.
- Kingpin.info provides all relevant information on the game and goes way beyond a mere fansite.
- You add no valuable information to the Wiki Kingpin: Kingpin: Life of Crime, you only remove stuff.
- I doubt that you have the capacity to decide whether kingpin.info is an official website or not.
- What makes https://www.mobygames.com/game/kingpin-life-of-crime a official link? The banners that make it a commercial website?
- Or why don't you remove planetquake.com from all the Quake II Wiki pages? Are those not fansites, by your definition?
- If you have a look at Talk:Kingpin:_Life_of_Crime, you'll see that a "Mention of SDK and editing community" is requested; and still you remove it?
- If you had read the whole Kingpin.info website you would know that it is based on www.poisonville.com which went down in 2006 (and goes back to 1999).
- If someone wants more information about Kingpin: Life of Crime, they now have a harder time finding it. Thanks to you.
- People like you are making wikipedia great again.
- MrFredz (talk) 22:14, 24 August 2017 (UTC)

- Sorry for my late reply, I've been very busy lately and I completely forgot your message. The WP:SEEALSO section is for similar or related articles. Paladins: Champions of the Realm
Hello Soetermans,
I'd like to come to an agreement as how we go about the page's tone and layout. The page's current entries which I contributed to, Champions and Roles and Game Modes, simply aren't enough for the game's page. I would like to add more, though I must admit I'm pretty afraid in contributing more due to the removal of my most recent entry: Card Loadouts.
I must admit my entry covering Card Loadouts was a bit on the long-winded and gamepedia side - which we're not aiming for in the Wikipedia. However, I would like to express my desire in adding that information again, though heavily revised, so that we can emphasize on the Paladins' key differences from other similar games. My guess as to why my entry got long-winded is (aside from being relatively gabby) because when I typed it up, I was referring to Overwatch's, Team Fortress 2's, DotA 2's and League of Legends' pages. I'd like to sort of follow the layout these pages have, due to their similarities, without emulating the same issues they have.
Also, kudos on stomping out the vandalism on the page. The sooner we get more content on it, perhaps the uninformed masses will stop their vandalism when they see it being on the same level as other big name game pages.
Thanks in advance if you happen to glance at this. I know Wikipedia ain't a job, but by golly does it feel like one when the mood strikes to inform. - 180.148.126.176 (talk) 11:00, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

- (talk page watcher)@Jd22292: With all due respect to Soetermans (I would support you at RfA almost certainly), I don't think its the best idea for a newer editor like yourself to start an RfA, Jd22292. You're doing a lot of good work but as you know, Wikipedia is a maze of rules and processes that are easy to trip on, and I don't believe you're ready to nominate admins. -- ferret (talk) 18:13, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
- Hi @Jd22292,
- While I certainly appreciate your kind words, I honestly don't have any aspirations of becoming an admin currently. While I do think I have a firm grasp on Wikipedia's guidelines, most of my edits are removing stuff that isn't supposed to be here. From the top of my head, the only two articles I actually did some constructive editing on was religion and video games and Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan. Perhaps one day, when I got my spare time I might consider adminship, but now's not the time. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 16:23, 16 August 2017 (UTC)

Edits to "Under the Boardwalk: The MONOPOLY Story"
Thanks for making improvements to the page about me (Kevin Tostado). However, I just want to point out that your attempt to uncapitalize MONOPOLY in the title of the film and the name of the game makes it incorrect from the actual name of the film. In the film title, the word MONOPOLY is in all caps because that was a requirement of my permission to use with Hasbro, that the name be capitalized as it is in their trademark.
If you want to uncapitalize the game in later instances, that's your prerogative, but I just wanted to point out that the film is properly capitalized as Under the Boardwalk: The MONOPOLY Story. Tostie14 (talk) 02:41, 5 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi @Tostie14,
- The reason I changed it to Monopoly is because of WP:MOSCAPS and WP:MOSTM. Wikipedia prefers not to use all caps, even if that is the official way. I've added "stylized as Under the Boardwalk: The MONOPOLY Story" in brackets for clarification. Kind regards, soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 09:56, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

Gran Turismo Sport
Hey, I couldn't discuss this issue earlier, just because I have a large ammount of things to juggle on Wikipedia, but back in October I made some edits to the Gran Turismo Sport page which you reverted. The issues I have was that the article went into unnecessary detail about the demo contrary to what usually is the case, and now that the game's out it really does not serve a purpose to describe what's in it. I also seperated "development and release" to two seperate sections as is the norm, and I'm realy unclear as to why you changed that back. Can you explain? --Deathawk (talk) 23:20, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hi @Deathawk,
- I'm not sure what you're talking about. I've looked at the edit history. This diff are your edits. I've edited Gran Turismo Sport on three instances, but I haven't made any reverts.
- The first time was in March: diff. I changed unnecessary capital letters, fixed the date and avoided repetition.
- Second time in August: diff. I took out an unnecessary quote of a release date.
- Third time was just four days ago: diff. I trimmed the lead section, changed it to past tense and wrote out PS4 as PlayStation 4, and also fixed Playstation 4 to PlayStation 4.
- So I'm afraid I think you're talking to the wrong person. Let me know if there's anything else I can do. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 07:34, 5 November 2017 (UTC)

Why did you erase the characters on Wild Arms 4? Martinc1994 (talk) 08:07, 16 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hi @Martinc1994,
- Before reverting, please familiarize yourself with Wikipedia guidelines, and specifically those on video games. First, it's completely unsourced. The requirement for sources is one of the most important guidelines on Wikipedia. Second, a concise plot description is more than sufficient, which is already there. The characters section is a whopping 24,000 characters long, and it doesn't say anything substantial about the characters. What's notable is creation, development and reception of the characters - not retelling it in excruciating detail. Stuff like this is suitable for Wild Arms dedicated fan page, not Wikipedia. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 10:10, 16 November 2017 (UTC)

AfC moves
Hi Soetermans. You are doing some paid editing work through Mister Wiki per the disclosure on your user page. In this diff you moved an article to mainspace about a Mister Wiki client, likewise another one in this diff. Each had been moved to draft space by another editor who does some paid editing through Mister Wiki. Would you please explain why you believe your accepting these and moving these to mainspace, was OK? Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 21:10, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- The other editor wrote at two AfDs: (diff at Weinstein; diff at Izad):
but the original request was "what can you do to get these maintenance tags off the article?" and such maintenance clean up is desirable overall for the project -- my solution was (1) get the original UPE creator to disclose correctly and (2) send the articles back to AfC to be reviewed, and if found acceptable, approved to mainspace without tags.
. - You signed up for AfC only a few hours before you accepted these articles. You did not disclose that you accepted these articles for pay through Mister Wiki so I don't know if you did, but it very much looks that way.
- This ~appears~ to be an effort to game the system.
- If that is true, I don't know how others will react, but I am willing to accept that this was a (severe) error in judgement and something that you all will never do again, but please reply. Jytdog (talk) 22:34, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hi @Jytdog, @Salvidrim! explained a lot of the situation on your talk page. My first paid editing job for Mister Wiki was Datari Turner. I fixed up the article and because it was rejected before, the article had to go through AfC again. I asked Salvidrim asked personally to okay the draft version of Datari Turner on October 20th so Turner, Mister Wiki and I didn't have to wait for a month for the article to be up again. Six days ago, Salvidrim asked me to return the favor for the articles Reza Izad and Dan Weinstein (business executive). I had my doubts (as you can see in the screenshot of our Facebook messenger conversation), but I did it anyway. I honestly did think the articles would pass WP:N. I wasn't asked by Mister Wiki to accept the articles, nor did I receive any payment for accepting the articles. I see that they're up for deletion, I won't be part of that discussion. Let me be clear, that Salvidrim and I are not in cahoots as paid editors, and we are certainly not trying to game the system; I was returning a favor. There is no excuse, I've been a longtime editor, and I should have known better how this might have come across. I'm truly sorry for the mess I've made. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 08:27, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for replying.
- This is just so terrible:
I asked Salvidrim asked personally to okay the draft version of Datari Turner on October 20th so Turner, Mister Wiki and I didn't have to wait for a month for the article to be up again.
. - The two of you gamed the system three times - all for money and "wiki-friendship". Salvidrim helped you serve your client more quickly, then you helped Salvidrim serve his clients more quickly, all on behalf of Mister Wiki, which must be very pleased with both of you. I say that even taking as true that neither of you were paid to do the receiving.
- AfC is a process meant to protect the integrity of Wikipedia, and the two of you turned it into a farce. Appearances matter. What do we say to the next paid editor who is complaining that AfC is taking too long? Heck what should we say to the next volunteer who wants to see their work published already? "Gee too bad you don't have a wiki-friend who can prioritize you" is not a good answer to either of them.
- This is what "conflict of interest" means, what it does to people's judgement, and what it does to the integrity of Wikipedia and the fairness of its processes.
- Your response does not recognize the actual problem. You are in cahoots. You are each editing for pay for the same company. The optics here matter. The compromised judgment of both of you matters. Jytdog (talk) 14:56, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- Would you please read the WP:COI guideline - I mean actually read it with open eyes and an open heart -- with this experience in mind, before you reply again? I am really asking. Jytdog (talk) 15:11, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- I understand your reaction completely, @Jytdog. I've crossed the line, thinking it would all be okay by assuming that notability takes precedence over neutrality. Of course it doesn't. You're right, and I agree with you. You haven't used the word, but this is corruption. Even if I didn't mean to, I've made a mockery of Wikipedia's guidelines - and by doing so, of myself. I honestly thought I could improve and create articles, while making some money on the side.
- I've just read WP:COI. To cite WP:PAY: "you should not accept any such affected article(s) at articles for creation process or mark them as reviewed as part of new pages patrol". I've clearly broken that rule, and by doing so, I've broken the trust of my fellow editors. I have no excuse and I'm sorry. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 15:38, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you for this heartfelt reply. What I was hoping you would take away from the COI guideline was the spirit of the matter -- what COI is, what it does, why we care about it, and then what processes we have put in place to manage it. :)
- I think that paid editors can be great contributors to Wikipedia and can make WP better, but it is really hard - you have to be more rigorous than usual to make it work. I've thought a lot about this stuff and have written about it on my userpage, here, if you like.
- Again I very much appreciate your response and I consider this matter closed, with regard to what you have done at AfC. Thanks again. Jytdog (talk) 15:44, 20 November 2017 (UTC)

- @Jytdog, thanks for your understanding and kind reply. It's been a long and exhausting day for me, looking at my screen and hitting refresh constantly. I'm not sure where to go from here. I have to get going in a little while. I think I'm half way through your think piece. I'll try to finish it later tonight or tomorrow (I'm on European time). soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 16:44, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- As you will. Please don't be too hard on yourself. You started doing a new thing and it turned out to be more complicated than you thought. - Thanks, @Jytdog. Honestly, I didn't think it would be this hard on me. I've read your thoughts on COI and paid editing, and I have some questions. I'll ask them at COIN, for complete transparancy. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 07:00, 21 November 2017 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Datari Turner studio.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Datari Turner studio.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
ATTENTION: This is an automated, bot-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 03:00, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
Arbcom case request notification
You are involved in a recently filed request for arbitration. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case#Mister Wiki and, if you wish to do so, enter your statement and any other material you wish to submit to the Arbitration Committee. As threaded discussion is not permitted in most arbitration pages please ensure that you make all comments in your own section only. Additionally, the guide to arbitration and the Arbitration Committee's procedures may be of use.

Gaming paid editing declarations
Please read WP:NOPAY carefully. You can't wait until you actually get paid for a job to declare your paid editing. Declaration is required for anything for which you expect to be paid. ☆ Bri (talk) 13:24, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hi @Bri, that has become clear now, yes. I should've paid more attention to the actual guidelines before doing any paid editing. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 11:47, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hi @Bri, I have another question. For the time being, and possibly indefinitely, I'm not doing any paid editing, with ArbCom going on. What should I do when I've decided to waive my fee? I've expanded the article Arne & Carlos and I've got the article Overwerk sitting in my sandbox. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 12:09, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Bri and @Jytdog, as discussed on Talk:Arne & Carlos#Edit requests by @SkyWarrior, I've added another statement on paid editing. - @Bri sorry if I'm not being clear. On Talk:Arne & Carlos the tag says "has been paid by Mister Wiki". I don't mean to nitpick, but I haven't been paid and I've let Mister Wiki know that I don't want any payment for what I've done. I'm not saying the tag should be removed (I've got a tag that says I've been payed for editing Justin Bieber on my user page...), it's just that the phrasing is not accurate. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 11:46, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
New Page Reviewing
Hello, Soetermans.
I've seen you editing recently and you seem knowledgeable about Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. |
- I can definitely tell you that in the last couple of days I've become very, very familiar with the actual guidelines on reviewing new pages. Only, I think your timing's a bit off: I'm involved in a COIN situation which became an ARBCOM case. For now, I think it's best I won't take on any more responsibilities. Honestly, you did made me laugh out loud with your message. Thanks, you've really lifted my spirits! soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 11:54, 23 November 2017 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about VandeStreek
Hello, Soetermans,
I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether VandeStreek should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/VandeStreek .
If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
Thanks,
SamHolt6 (talk) 21:50, 24 November 2017 (UTC)

And olive branch & holiday wishes!
I've caused this year to end on a chord of disappointment for many, but I hope that despite my mistakes and the differences in opinion and perspectives, and regardless of what the outcome is or in what capacity I can still contribute in the coming year, we can continue working together directly or indirectly on this encyclopedic project, whose ideals are surely carried by both of our hearts. I'm hoping I have not fallen in your esteem to the level where "no hard feelings" can no longer ring true, because I highly respect you and your dedication to Wikipedia, and I sincerely wish you and your loved ones all the best for 2018.

Disambiguation link notification for December 25
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Wilmer Valderrama, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page YG (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
