Look, i can't discuss it there, but I'm going to say this now. if that was really all that it was, then it wouldn't be an issue. But the glaring holes were apparent, and people were being more and more honest about what they really wanted. I just don't wnat to talka bout it anymore....i've been insulted enough. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Super Smash Bros. Crusade, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Game Maker. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Screenshot (I deserve a block.)

Apparently, when I undid your edit, I actually vandalized the page because of an accidental misunderstanding, and, when I was reverting politely, it later turned out that I apparently—apparently—typed in abusive language, which led to your saying "Excuse me?", therefore making me want to be blocked. It is therefore obvious that I apparently was highly psychopathic, and there is no doubt about that, so may I please be blocked? Gamingforfun365 (talk) 03:50, 21 January 2016 (UTC)

Look. I am sorry, but I almost literally cannot help how I hurt myself by sarcastically saying how awful I am after I have accidentally caused trouble. Gamingforfun365 (talk) 03:53, 21 January 2016 (UTC)

That is not vandalism

Because an editor disagrees with your edit does not make it vandalism. This edit here is clearly not vandalism. Reverting it to an old version is acceptable. Be more careful or you could be taken to ANI in the future. 76.124.114.73 (talk) 19:35, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

You're pointing to a diff with a standard template by twinkle. I wouldn't call it vandalism, no. But like I said in the warning I issued you, don't revert for no reason. Having the first Smash, followed by the general series, than Melee does not make sense. Even if you don't agree. --Soetermans. T / C 19:50, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

Hello Soetermans. I've noticed how active you are working on video game articles. I was hoping you'd actual consider accepting an invitation to join StrategyWiki. Hi @109.150.7.119:, first off, why are you talking in the royal we? Second, could you be specific about which edits? Maybe you're talking about mustard (condiment), because that's your only other article edit. Not unlike this IP address. Their initial edit claimed my edits were vandalism. I left a message at their talk page, which was subsequently blanked. After that, they again incorrectly added style errors. I left another message, pointing to Talk: mustard (condiment)#American mustard.
So yes, everyone is welcome to contribute constructively and I urge you to do so. I also think it's important for you to assume good faith, and not call an experienced editor's edits "vandalism", not responding to your talk page and then making a point by leaving a message at my talk page. --Soetermans. Regarding recent move of Destiny DLC article

Hi, in regards to your recent move of Post-release content of Destiny to Destiny downloadable content, the decision to name it "Post-release content of Destiny" was because it covers more than just DLC. It also covers the limited-time events. --JDC808 19:31, 13 February 2016 (UTC)

Concerning AfD about Layton characters

Hi, I agree that a lot of the text has been duplicate and plot vehicle description instead of characterization; but the article has become much neater after having been pruned a bit, and I think more pruning and source-addition will make it look fairly good. However it's going to take a few days, so I ask for patience. --Mr. Magoo (talk) 20:09, 23 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi @Mr. Magoo and McBarker:,
Thanks for your message. I've withdrawn the nomination. There's no deadline, but what's a good timeframe you think to have this article improved? soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 08:03, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for your help. Later this evening I'll look into adding basic sources for the first half. The latter half will take much longer to complete, and an estimate for it is harder to configure. --Mr. Magoo (talk) 11:02, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
However I've also tried finding some help from some still-active editors of related articles. One of them might prove very lucrative and very suddenly. --Mr. Magoo (talk) 11:04, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Hey, no problem! Thank you for your edits, it already looks better than when I nominated it. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 11:06, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
I ran into more trouble when looking into the latter half of the article. I think the first half and second half were written by different people, and the first half had general characterizations followed by a game events paragraph (a spoiler paragraph). This was well designed with the reader able to read characterizations without spoiling the plot, and I think it was a bit wrong to remove some of these latter paragraphs since it was so well designed. But the spoiler stuff is impossible to source and isn't really the point of a characters list, which is supposed to generalize the characters quickly and simply for anyone googling the character. Now what followed was the second half. From the disappointment of cutting down nearly everything from the second half, leaving only incredible stubs; I thought the second half tells as much about the characters as the articles for the titles do. The second half of the list just describes events happening to the characters. The first half is better done and describes the characters profiles and personalities unlike the game titles I looked at. --Mr. Magoo (talk) 13:43, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
In addition the Layton Wiki exists with massive descriptions of the characters and what happens to them, so thinking from an librarian's perspective our list should fill the role of the simple generalizer more than the burdening plot explainer's. --Mr. Magoo (talk) 14:01, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

New cites in The Mud Connector

I've added three new book citations with substantive discussion of the nature of The Mud Connector to its article (ignoring all of the passing mentions that just refer the reader to the site as an authoritative source, or the authoritative source). Please review in case this alters your opinion regarding its AfD. —chaos5023 (talk) 17:27, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

Is there a reason you redirected this page to Baldur's Gate (series)? I don't see any redirect discussion on the talk page, nor does there seem to be an AfD. Banedon (talk) 08:56, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

Hi @Banedon:,
That was based upon this discussion. In a nutshell, a lot of video game characters lists like the one from Baldur's Gate are written from an in-universe point-of-view, essentially retelling the plot, without any information on the characters, like development or reception, which would make a list like that worth having around. Using the custom WP:VG/RS Google search engine it didn't take long to see that aren't any in-depth articles or opinion pieces on the characters. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 09:29, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
Fair enough. May I suggest you link the discussion in the edit summary next time you redirect such a page? Banedon (talk) 11:01, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
Just saw you reverted my revert, so checked in here. Totally understand your reasoning - but when we do a redirect like that, are we meant to transfer the now-deleted information to the target page? Or does it just disappear? (As a journalist, I found that list extremely useful). --Grill (talk) 12:13, 20 March 2017 (UTC)
Hi @Griliopoulos,
At a glance, no, because all the information on it is considered WP:GAMEGUIDE material and also covered WP:VGSCOPE No. 6, I think. Besides not having a single source, it lacked any encyclopedic information. What's more interesting is how a character was conceived, developed and received. My go-to example of a good "List of ... characters" is List of The Last of Us characters. Well written, plenty of references and gives a good overview of the characters, without going into trivial detail. After all, Wikipedia is written for a large audience, and not for gamers. Hope this helps. Kind regards, soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 14:29, 20 March 2017 (UTC)

One of your Eve Online edits

Please reconsider one of your changes to Eve Online. For one thing, the reference to Bloodbath of B-R5RB is entirely 'hidden' within the 'navbox' so that even searching for it in the page finds _nothing_, unless the navbox happens to be open. That is, the link is simply gone normally.

I had to do a search using ~"titanomachy" to find the article. It should be a bit easier to find than that, and especially linked from the Eve Online article.

I find it *amazing* that the Eve Online article does not have one mention of that historic event, aka Titanomachy. That is inexplicably strange. Making the link disappear from See Also just makes the situation even worse. Shenme (talk) 00:41, 3 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi @Shenme:,
I appreciate your personal message, but feel free to re-add it to the article. Even better would be mentioning the event in the article. I myself am not too familiar with Eve Online, could you add a blurb about the Titanomachy to the article? soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 10:34, 4 June 2016 (UTC)

What kind of permission did you get from Kiro'o Games? Can you forward it to OTRS? Without the verification, the Commons images would have to go up for deletion czar 10:11, 4 June 2016 (UTC)

I received a personal email from the developer. I'd be happy to forward it, but what is OTRS? :-P soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 10:29, 4 June 2016 (UTC)
Wikipedia:OTRS is the service Wikimedia uses to document permission like that, in case someone were to challenge the email in a decade or want verification in the meantime. I'd forward that email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org and include the ticket number on the file's page ({{subst:OR|id=###|reason=processing}}) so that they don't get deleted like the one mentioned on your Commons talk page. Let me know if I can help with that—I also might swing back to expand the article czar 15:40, 4 June 2016 (UTC)

Bendybit / 5.139.234.81

Thanks for your message. Before I even saw your message, I had spotted the block-evasion and decided to reblock the account and block the IP address, but it does no harm for you to tell me in case I hadn't noticed. I see that the same person has previosuly used at least one other IP address in the same range (5.139.238.6) so I'll have a look at the history and see whether a range block is suitable. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 16:18, 17 June 2016 (UTC)

I don't know if it's of any interest to you, but I have now found that Bendybit has been doing the same kind of disruptive editing both with and without logging in since January, using 17 IP addresses in the range 5.139.224.0 to 5.139.255.255, and has received warnings on 6 IP talk pages, as well as on the Bendybit talk page. There has only ever been one edit in that range which is not obviously from Bendybit, and that was in 2013, so I shall be able to block the range for quite a long time without fear of collateral damage. Bendybit IP block evasion

I have seen your message at User talk:Bendybit, pinging me and Cyphoidbomb, about an IP address with similar editing to Bendybit. I agree, and I have also found that the IP addresses are from the same ISP and the same moderate sized Russian town as an IP address that I had previously determined had been used by Bendybit for block evasion. I shall certainly block the two IP addresses you gave, and revert outstanding edits from them, and I shall look into whether a range block would be reasonable. I shall also consider increasing Bendybit's block. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 13:54, 14 July 2016 (UTC)

  • Well, if it's of any interest to you, there have been 110 edits from 27 IP addresses in the range 85.173.179.x, starting on 12th January this year and every one of those edits looked like Bendybit's style, so I have blocked the range. In view of the extent of the block evasion, I am inclined to block Bendybit indefinitely, but I'll think about it for a while, rather than acting hastily. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 14:17, 14 July 2016 (UTC)

I would just like to point out that the definition you are using to assess deletion for the Retrogaming category was taken from Retrogaming NOT the category page. They do not use the same definition even if it is based upon the former. I made the definition on the category page as clearly definable by whether they are discontinued or not. I will not argue with the decision made by a group of editors but I would like the correct information used in the arguments. MBlairMartin (talk) 20:06, 30 August 2016 (UTC)

Yes, now that there is an article on the subject, that's okay. Navboxes are the types of templates you find on the bottom of articles, which are intended for navigation between related articles. Now there's an actual article, it can be added. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 22:25, 9 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi

You broke my mind with suddenly talking Dutch like that XP ~Mable (chat) 18:19, 19 September 2016 (UTC)

Yeah, likewise! A school project, games developed in the Netherlands... WAIT A MINUTE! Have you joined the WP:VG Facebook group by the way? soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 18:22, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
I don't have a Facebook account. I am on the unofficial Wikipedia Discord server, however. Much more my style. ~Mable (chat) 18:31, 19 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Doutzen Kroes, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Wonder Woman (film). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi @GXXF,
I'm not sure why you're asking me - I don't have that userbox. Have you tried looking through the userbox archives? soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 22:24, 25 September 2016 (UTC)

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/1902/game_design_essentials_20_open_.php?print=1 This source clearly lists the game as an example of an open world game. Let me know what you think.Dohvahkiin (talk) 03:08, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi @Dovahkiin,
I removed the category, because nothing in the article itself says anything about it being an open world game. Categories are for, well, categorizing articles, so readers can easily find articles that belong in the same category. But there should be some information about why it is being categorized as such - we don't need a source for a category, because the article content should be sufficient. Right now, the article on Symphony of the Night doesn't say anything about it being an open world game. But feel free to add that though! In that case, the category makes sense. Thanks, and happy editing. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 08:15, 29 September 2016 (UTC)

Konami Krazy Racers

I do not see how listing the characters in a crossover game violates any of the guidlines you stated. it is both helpful to know what games some characters are from (i would not have known about Takosuke origan without it) and verifiable from third party sources linked to in the article — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.31.205.251 (talk) 23:45, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

Hi @76.31.205.251,
A list of characters does not add anything substantial to the article. If you're up for expanding on it, sure, go right ahead. But just a list, that's trivial information. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 14:36, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
