Making pointless edits to get EC status was not a good idea
[edit]I've removed your EC status, as making null edits to gain it is not permitted. If you remain as an editor in good standing and make 100+ useful edits, you may request it. OhNoitsJamie Talk 16:37, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- Sir I am sorry to bother you, I have tried to make more than 100 constructive edits since your message and I feel like I can request it back. In any case if you feel like the edits are gamed, then, it is fine. Thank you Sir ☢️SCR@TCH!NGH3@D (talk) 13:50, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Scratchinghead! Your additions to Draft:Communism in Greece have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:
- Limited quotation: You may only copy or translate a small portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (") and properly cited using an inline citation. More information is available on the non-free content page. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners.
- Paraphrasing: Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information in your own words. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources as appropriate.
- Image use guidelines: In most scenarios, only freely licensed or public domain images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- Copyrighted material donation: If you hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Copying and translation within Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. For translation, see Help:Translation § License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. czar 21:51, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Czar Yes Sir, thank you for the Notice. But, I wanted to use as Reference material and I think I will not use it fully . I have realize that wherever a fact from it appear, I can cite the web site. so copied it. I didn't want to add it as part of the article. Sorry Sir SCR@TCH!NGH3@D (talk) 09:23, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Czar sir, i have a question. you happen to be partolling around my recent drafts on communism and do you have any tips to improve? especially Draft:Communism in Brazil. SCR@TCH!NGH3@D (talk) 12:28, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- When you copy a block of text to Wikipedia, even if it's for reference and to be deleted later, it's permanently included in the page's revision history and would need to be deleted in order to avoid a claim of copyright violation. The links I linked above explain this in greater detail. Everything on Wikipedia needs to be paraphrased in your own words, not copied from other sources (except in rare cases).
- My advice is to hew close to what reliable, secondary sources say, i.e., peer reviewed history and academic papers, not primary sources from the political parties themselves. I've copy-edited Anarchism in Brazil in the past, which is a good comparison. (I'm more involved with the anarchism project.) Put your contributions in your own words and do not translate/copy verbatim from sources. When you do quote, make sure it is brief and in quotation marks and attributed.
- Unrelated but also note per our signatures policy to not use images such as your radiation warning symbol but emojis are okay. You also don't need to address me or anyone else by the honorific "sir". :) czar 13:20, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- Everything on Wikipedia needs to be paraphrased in your own words"
- 1) I realized that and i just kept it there for reference to avoid switching between pages and thanks for the explanation
- 2) In the article Draft:Communism in Greece i have included a number of sources (in the lead alone) that are directly from the parties websites themselves to show that they promote "revolutionary socialist" or "anti-capitalism". Most of these parties are so small that i can barely find any tertiary sources or secondary sources for that matter. For that purpose, i have used a secondary sources for all of Antarsiya as a whole.
- 3) Yes i knew that a few days ago and wanted to replace with emoji of the same. thank you SCR@TCH!NGH3@D (talk) 13:32, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- If the parties are too small to warrant reliable, secondary source coverage, they usually do not warrant mention in Wikipedia. czar 20:06, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- They have articles eg. communist renewal ☢️SCR@TCH!NGH3@D (talk) 11:05, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
- on second thought however, i ended up mostly with secondary sources after TRYING to find primary ones. ☢️SCR@TCH!NGH3@D (talk) 11:09, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
