What is the difference between WikiProjects and portals?
WikiProjects are groups of editors who team up to collaborate on developing and maintaining articles or other features or aspects of Wikipedia. There is a Portals WikiProject, for example. WikiProjects are linked to from article talk pages with WikiProject banners like {{WikiProject Politics}} for example, but not from within articles.
Portals are mainly for readers, providing an alternative doorway into a subject, and can be linked to from articles using the {{Portal}} template in an article's See also section. There may or may not be a WikiProject and a portal on the same subject.
By the way...the WikiProject Portals is currently redesigning and revamping the entire portals system, and could use all the help it can get. New participants are welcome.
Hello there! Actually, I've got no idea. Last time I spoke to him was years ago - I've been very busy in real life and thus haven't been editing quite as much on Wikipedia. Good luck to you on your search! JesterCountess[talk•contribs]01:58, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
14:24, 20 August 2011 Ravichandar84 (talk | contribs) (9,566 bytes) (Reverted to revision 294916467 by Ravichandar84: rv last clean version.[1]
Kindly let me know why you have reverted every change I have made in this page.
Also let me know if any of the change I have made does not comply with Wikipedia's principles.
I am a native of Melattur Village and have posted the information with as much authenticity as possile.
I would request you to kindly revert back to my version if there are no mistakes in my part, else kindly let me revert back to my changes.
How sure are you with the details or the authenticity of your input sir. For example: ¨climax scene in which the actor playing the part of Narasimha supposedly becomes possessed" Are you sure of this particular line. At the same time on what basis do you deny ¨the climax scene in which the actor playing the part of Narasimha wears the holy mask of Narasimha kept in pooja at the Varadaraja perumal temple. The dialogues between Hiranyakashipu and his son Prahlada as well as the conversation between Hiranyakashipu and Narasimha are very moving and is written with whole Bakthi which is meant to be imparted in the dramas of Bhagavatha Mela.¨ - which is so true and can be authenticated by the inumerous audience of the Baghavatha Mela.
Moreover it is ¨Bhagavatha Mela¨ and definetly not BhagavathaR mela. I have given a proper explaination for this and its not hearsay. How do you justify your version sir.
Are you also very sure that the ¨an exodus of people from Atthigiri (Kanchipuram) migrated south and settled in Melattur[1][2]. They built the Varadaraja Perumal temple at the north-western corner of the Agraharam and introduced Vaishnavism in the village and surrounding areas¨, while there is evidence of an unearthed temple near the existing Perumal temple´s pond and there are two Narasimha idols kept from that excavation in the temple now.
I suppose you have NO or very less knowledge or ill-informed about Melattur.
I would request you again to revert to my version. Otherwise we can discuss what you feel contradictory in my version and settle on the correct version with a correct picture to the reader.
With due respects and no offense I would consider your version to be misdirecting and influenced and your absolute revert back to your version overriding every change of mine would not be appropriate. I am open for a discussion on this.
I would request you to not go blindly by the external links alone. I have news paper clipping from way back 1960-s to support most of my facts on BhagavathA mela. While the details on the Varadaraja Perumal temple have many books published recently and long time back - of which I cannot provide an external link whatsoever.
May I also ask you what is the source of your information on Melattur OTHER THAN the few pages provided by external links - which are BASICALLY interviews of a single or a specific group of personality(s) belonging to Melattur.
My version of the article has been rated "C-class". If you can add more references and improve the article then please do it. If you cannot, then don't meddle with it. I don't care about know or what I don't know. If you had made some original research on Melattur, then you may create a blog on the same not add the stuff to a Wikipedia article. I seriously don't understand why you should revert back completely to your version. For eg.even your references say it is Bhagavatha Mela and there is no 'R'in Bhagavatha mela. I had given a proper explaination for that.
Moreover while writing something on a local setup, all perspectives are important and they are to be written as it is. I guess I have done justice to that. Now please don't come back with your 'references'. Infact most of the references or the content you have given come from a single person's or a sinle group's input to the web or media (interviews, articles etc.) and your article thus seems very skewed.
This is the reason I ask for a discussion with you. Moreover I am getting whatever references I can to support every detail of mine. I am new here, may I ask your help, in refering very old newspaper articles etc as references.
All the way to India for that? Nah. It really does need to be discussed there though how we can go about dramatically improving the quality of Indian city articles. Most are a shambles. BTW if there is ever a time you want to work with me to promote more Indian cities to GA let me know.♦ Dr. Blofeld17:34, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
i saw that u had created lots of oneline articles on revenue blocks under each districts of tamil nadu, which was not yet categorised. It was really tough for me to check whether you created the article or not under some districts.so plz categorise them and help me on this.--Jenakarthik (talk) 05:06, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Yup sure. I did not know whether category pages were created for most of the districts which is why I did not add any. Most of the articles on revenue blocks have been created; only 10 or 15 remain. Articles on revenue divisions have also been created.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service08:30, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
I'm good :) You have done a terrific job by expanding the template. I see many places which I never came across. I'll try to expand the template and if possible create articles for all those in a short while. --Commander(Ping Me)05:20, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bairagimadam Temple until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Day000Walker (talk) 16:09, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
You are welcome. Anyway, I don't agree with your reasoning that the temple is not notable enough for an article. The temple is mentioned in Madras Rediscovered, one of the most widely read books on Chennai and also a couple of travel guides about Chennai. I just couldn't find enough stuff to expand the article beyond one or two lines which is why I tagged the article for deletion. But this does not necessarily mean that the temple is not notable.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service16:23, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
Dear Mr.Ravi, You are doing a great job in creating pages for local bodies in Tamil Nadu. Think of creating an article titled Tamil Nadu Civic Bodies. As local body elections are nearing, this would gain lot of significance. You can integrate all your block/taluk/division works to it. Also pl do have a look at Tamil Nadu State Election Commission --BabuOnWiki (talk) 11:07, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
Dear Ravi, What I meant was, You've created many articles for local bodies, for eg. revenue divisions, blocks etc. so we can create an article, say Local body in Tamil Nadu then from this we could give links to the other such local body pages. --BabuOnWiki (talk) 07:13, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
