Remember that RFCs are part of Dispute Resolution and at times may take place in a heated environment. The name 'Hosur' is not unique to one single place located in Tamilnadu, so what you did is correct - listing all articles related to the word Hosur. Invitation from the Guild of Copy Editors
The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in their September 2011 Backlog elimination drive, a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy editing backlog. Bangalore's population
Hi, a user has added the 2011 figures for Bangalore's population as 9.5 million. I guess that's the population of whole Bangalore Urban district. According to the 2001 census reports, the city limits of Bangalore comprises of a majority of urban dist. and a part of rural dist, correct me if I am wrong. However, I have no idea about the city limits after the expansion. Does the whole urban dist. come under the city limits? --Commander (Ping Me) 03:35, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
- This is one question for which I've been hunting for answers ever since I started off on Wikipedia. I'll bet the Bangalore Municipal Corporation itself will be confused if anyone asks them this question ;) . But one thing is for sure: 2001 census will not cover whole of Bangalore because expansion of the Corporation happened recently (in 2008 or something). So, if we want to list the population of Bangalore as the population of Urban district, we'll have no problem. But if we want to list the population of the area covered by the Corporation, then it will be somewhat of a problem, since the Corporation does not release population figures (to the best of my knowledge). I think its best we mention the population of Urban district and leave a note mentioning it as so. Lynch7 09:06, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

Question...
Hi there: I have a quick question. I am relatively new to Wikipedia. I would like to know what the appropriate procedure is if you suspect that a biographical entry was created by the subject himself. I'm assuming this is a violation of Wikipedia's rules. Thank you for your time! --BlueonGray (talk) 14:13, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
- Welcome to Wikipedia. The first step would be to tag the article with a {{coi}} on the top of the page. Let me know which article you are talking about, and I can probably help you further. Lynch7 14:53, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. The page in question is a biographical article for Ricardo Duchesne. The article is currently under consideration for deletion. I want to raise a separate issue concerning a possible COI. There is information in that article which, as far as I can see, is not publicly available and could not be known by anyone other than the subject or someone intimately close to him. I can go into more details if necessary. I understand the seriousness of suspected cases of COI, so I want to proceed carefully.--BlueonGray (talk) 15:48, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi! Thanks for the message. Yes, we have not come across each other in the past. I attended a wiki meeting about two years ago in Bangalore and met many Users from India. I have been mostly active on DYK since the last over three years. Recent experience with some of the DKY admins, after I completed my 500 DYKs, has not been very helpful for me to continue contributing on Wikipedia. For the time being I have stopped contributing articles and working on the Ambassador's programme. Hope to meet you in one of Bangalore meets in the near future, as at present I am in USA. Normally, I function from Delhi where I am still working. Cheers.--Nvvchar. 15:07, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
Hello MikeLynch, great job with this article. You're pretty quick.
I see that you've made the "Autonomous Institutes" section a subsection of the colleges section. I was wondering whether its your view just for this article or for all the lists. Coz the current format as per consensus was to have a separate section for the autonomous institutes. If you want the subsectioning format for all lists, please discuss at Wikipedia Talk:WikiProject Education in India before implementing on any other lists. Thanks--Siddhartha Ghai (talk) 15:25, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
- Turns out I didn't read the format properly :) I typed in a level 3 heading instead of a level 2 heading. Thanks for noting it. Will change. Lynch7 17:28, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

A phrase was given in the lead of above article along with its refence. A book titled Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna was published and released on 19-12-1996 by the former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee whose forward was written by the then RSS Sarsanghchalak Prof. Rajendra Singh. In this book a chapter was given in which it was proved with the verifiable contents that RSS is a Banyan tree of Bismil's thought" by the writter of the book. I had quoted the same phrase as an adjective to the subject article. Since you are well conversant in Hindi and Sanskrit you may see his Autobiography on wikisource. Whatever guidelines Ram Prasad Bismil had suggested in it the RSS has expanded its organisation on the same foot-prints. - Look, such miscellany should be avoided in the lead sentence, especially when it is not a familiar term, and is not explained there. Please include it in any subsection if you wish. I don't deny whatever you say, but in the lead, such unexplained jargon is not recommended. Lynch7 11:42, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

Bangalore
Came across this file in the talk page of Hyderabad. I got many clues about the areas of Indian metropolitan cities. The population data and the city area seems to be authentic but still not sure about the metropolitan area. But one thing is for sure, the person has made a lot of research on this. --Commander (Ping Me) 15:18, 9 September 2011 (UTC)
- I think the guy has put in a lot of research for this, and I personally think that it is good. I especially like the way that NCR is included in Delhi (most other sources have a lot of confusion on this). But are Chennai's figures accurate? It probably doesn't include some outlying areas. Lynch7 04:41, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
- Ya it says the metropolitan area of Chennai to be 1189 sq.km, while some sources mention it as 1172 sq.km. However, the population figures seems to be accurate. --Commander (Ping Me) 08:12, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hmm, but in comparison to other cities, Chennai's area seems to be quite small. So I asked whether it was accurate. It probably doesn't include nearby industrial areas like Sriperumbudur. Lynch7 08:20, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah Chennai's area seems to be quite smaller than other metros. See the official website of CMDA. --Commander (Ping Me) 15:09, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
- This map would probably give you some idea. To my knowledge, Sriperumpudur is a part of Chennai metropolitan area. The map also confirms the same. --Commander (Ping Me) 15:16, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, guess its accurate then. So I think we can go ahead and regularize all 6 articles. Lynch7 15:56, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

- That did strike me as odd. I seriously don't believe that Bangalore's area is so large. I'd believe something close to 5000. Perhaps the author offers an explanation somewhere? Lynch7 16:27, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

no image dispute in Hyderabad article
Hii, the image dispute is not the issue, the issue is about what type of images and how many number of images to be included, in Hyderabad article. and I think the issue is resolved almost, as I have replaced one of the suggested image by the other user omer. even though I am into dispute resolution, the other user is insisting otherwise.
But, I am clearly not going to accept user Omer's personal take saying not to include this below image -
Raj Bhavan Road - a commerical street in somajiguda
I prefer include this image, because, (it is not advertising that Hyderabad has roads and vehicles) but it is indicating one of the commercially prominent streets of Hyderabad, you check other metropolitan cities on this.
further, I have changed the description of raj bhavan road image, which shows why the image is important
I am not interested in any queries on this from anyone, anymore, I did my best
