Would you mind taking a look at this article to see if a stand-alone article for the same is notable as the article Navy Children School already exits. Thanks, — Abhishek Talk 15:16, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- Hmm, it seems to be on the lines of the Kendriya Vidyalayas. Individual KVs are notable, but I don't know if this chain is notable enough. My first instinct says we should merge it to the main article. Lynch7 16:03, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- Upon seeing policies like Wikipedia:WPSCH/AG, Wikipedia:Notability_(high_schools) among others, it seems that it is OK to have such articles, since they are quite distinct, as they are in different cities. However, refs need to be added, but its not grounds for an immediate deletion. Lynch7 16:41, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- Hmmm ok. I'm infact searching for some references. — Abhishek Talk 16:44, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- I guess these kinds of school chains (DPS, KV, Navodaya) are found only in India. That's probably why we don't have guidelines for these situations. Lynch7 16:49, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

Weigh in?
Would you like to weigh in at the discussion in Talk:India on some 40 odd images? I know that's a lot, but a simple Yes/No would be adequate. Of course, if you choose to comment at more length, it would be even better. The India page is now the second most-viewed country page (after the US) and the 15th page overall, so having a set of high quality representative pictures becomes even more imperative. - Namashkar Vermaji, hope you are doing well. Those two files were classified as "possibly unfree", because there were doubts about its copyright status. Its not possible for me to see those deleted files (as I am not an admin), so I won't be able to decide what to do. Lets hope that the matter is cleared up soon. Lynch7 12:02, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Re: Multiple copyvios
While I agree with you regarding the ogg file for Criminal, I strongly disagree with your tagging of the file Ra One VFX before after. The images were used from blogs and websites which stated that no copyrights were held on the photos taken from shooting. The compiling of both photos into one was done solely by me. Hence, I strongly oppose your move to delete the photo. As for the others, I will discuss with other Ra.One editors and come to a consensus. Hi MikeLynch. Hope you're doing great. This user Ashermadan has been issued two notices for his disruptive behavior: 1 for edit warring and 2 for continuously making edits against consensus. rajini's mother tongue
hey we all know that Rajinikanth is active mainly in Tamil cinema. But did you ever know that his mother tongue is Marathi? Then WHY shouldnt I add the Marathi text of his name? Kailash29792 (talk) 14:53, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker)A Marathi transliteration of his "Marathi name" (Shivaji Rao Gaikwad) is there in the article under "Early life" section. There is a consensus not to include other language scripts of the name "Rajinikanth", as it's a name given by a Tamil director to act in Tamil movies. --Commander (Ping Me) 15:06, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Urban Agglomeration
Hi, I found this link which provides the area and population of all cities and towns in India based on the 2001 statistics. This will be much useful to find out the land area/density of Urban agglomerations in India. A possible solution for Bangalore's UA definition. --Commander (Ping Me) 04:03, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
- For some reason it doesn't open here. I'll have a look when possible. Lynch7 11:34, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
- We can't download that document without having a docstoc account. So enter into "Fullscreen mode" and use the "search box" to navigate through the document. --Commander (Ping Me) 11:55, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
- Oh okay. I'll do that once I get home. Thanks. Lynch7 12:02, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
- Checked it out now. Again there is some confusion, though this seems to be a clearer document than anything else encountered before. Thankfully for Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi, it clearly mentions that it is the area of the Municipal corporation, while for Bangalore and Kolkata, no such mention is made This whole thing is a mess really, and the Bangalore Corporation's website being completely useless doesn't help. However, this is a lot better than the previous lists, and I think we should go ahead and change the figures for Bangalore. Lynch7 16:47, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- It lists the area of Bangalore to be 226, which I think must be true, as the area was expanded only in 2007. Some sources say the expanded area to be 741 sq km. Also I made an attempt to calculate the "land area" of Urban agglomerations of cities in Tamil Nadu such as Coimbatore, Madurai and Trichy with the help of the document and the Tamil Nadu Census website (2001). Though the calculations might not be more accurate, I can say they are somewhat close to the actual figures. --Commander (Ping Me) 17:17, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

I don't think there is a problem with Kolkata. Many sources say the area of the city to be 185 sq km. The problem is only with Bangalore and Delhi. --Commander (Ping Me) 17:19, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- But then, this document lists only 2001 values. BBMP was expanded in 2007 as you say, so it won't cover those areas (some of them are quite big). Lynch7 17:25, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
I think we should stick to the 220 figure for Bangalore. Till someone comes up with a better figure at least. Lynch7 17:35, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah that's the problem. But see this link, they have provided the constituents of major UAs in India. Combining this pdf and the "dostoc" document, we can somehow calculate the areas of UAs. --Commander (Ping Me) 17:37, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- The provisional population results show the population of the BBMP to be 8.425 million and the UA to be 8.499 million, which means most of the UA is covered by BBMP. This implies, the difference in areas of both (city and UA) will be much smaller unlike other metros. --Commander (Ping Me) 17:42, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- Good point. Bangalore doesn't have many satellite towns like NCR or anything. Let's just list the 220 figure, maintaining in the reference notes that it is a 2001 census based figure. Lynch7 17:45, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- Agreed. But if we include the 220 figure in the Infobox, the population must also be according to the pre-expansion of the city in 2001. Just like Chennai, the details about 2011 provisional population and the city expansion can be mentioned under the "Footnotes" or something like that. --Commander (Ping Me) 05:52, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
- Seems fine to me. Lynch7 09:50, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

Invitation from the Guild of Copy Editors
The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in their November 2011 Backlog elimination drive, a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy edit backlog. The drive begins on November 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on November 30 at 23:59 (UTC). We will be tracking the number of 2010 articles (and specifically will be targeting the oldest three months), as we want to copy edit as many of these as possible. Barnstars will be awarded to anyone who copy edits more than 4,000 words, and special awards will be given to the top 5 in the following categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". We hope to see you there! – Your drive coordinators: Diannaa, Chaosdruid, The Utahraptor, Slon02, and SMasters. |
