Allan D. Cruickshank wiki deleted
What a shame to see that this page was deleted before I had the chance to change the wording. I really don't know what was copywrite infringement. He seemed like a really impressive person and I was surprised when I wrote the page that he didn't have one already. Now that it's been deleted, what do I do to get him the wiki that I believe he deserves? Is there an archive where I can see the deleted wiki so that I can reword it and start again? I appreciate your help! Fonduechocolatelove (talk) 05:26, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Fonduechocolatelove - one of Lefcentreright's talk page stalkers here - I didn't see the article, so I can't offer any specific advice on what about it was copyvio, but generally speaking not only can you not copy/paste from websites, you also can't just take the text and change a few words here and there - your writing needs to be entirely different. The log said it was copied from this site - I assume from the 'Award History' tab, which gives the subject a brief biography, so make sure your new text doesn't resemble anything there.
- You can't view deleted pages directly (only admins can do that), but you can approach the deleting administrator - RHaworth - and ask him whether he'd be willing to e-mail you a copy of the text for you to work on offline. Make sure you give him a link to the page, like this: Allan D. Cruickshank. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 17:32, 22 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Girth Summit: Thanks so much for your reply and assistance! I really appreciate when other editors are so helpful! I'm going to try to redo the page and keep it very simple (and obviously avoid the language that may have been a problem). Thanks! Fonduechocolatelove (talk) 06:06, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
- No problem, Fonduechocolatelove. I'd suggest writing it up as a draft, I'd be happy to take a look before you publish it if you want a second pair of eyes. GirthSummit (blether) 09:21, 25 August 2019 (UTC)

A quick word of thanks
I just wanted to say thank you for your extremely kind response to my article about Mr Steinberg's Chérubin recording. I never imagined that anything that I wrote about a recording of a little-known French opera would elicit a Barnstar! Wow! It makes an hour of fiddling about with all those pesky French accents seem worthwhile after all. Thank you again, and all my very best wishes.Niggle1892 (talk) 16:35, 27 August 2019 (UTC)

New Page Review newsletter September-October 2019
Hello Lefcentreright,
- Backlog
Instead of reaching a magic 300 as it once did last year, the backlog approaching 6,000 is still far too high. An effort is also needed to ensure that older unsuitable older pages at the back of the queue do not get automatically indexed for Google.
- Coordinator
A proposal is taking place here to confirm a nominated user as Coordinator of NPR.
- This month's refresher course
Why I Hate Speedy Deleters, a 2008 essay by long since retired Ballonman, is still as valid today. Those of us who patrol large numbers of new pages can be forgiven for making the occasional mistake while others can learn from their 'beginner' errors. Worth reading.
- Deletion tags
Do bear in mind that articles in the feed showing the trash can icon (you will need to have 'Nominated for deletion' enabled for this in your filters) may have been tagged by inexperienced or non NPR rights holders using Twinkle. They require your further verification.
- Paid editing
Please be sure to look for the tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary. WMF policy requires paid editors to connect to their adverts.
- Subject-specific notability guidelines' (SNG). Alternatives to deletion
- Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves once more with notability guidelines for organisations and companies.
- Blank-and-Redirect is a solution anchored in policy. Please consider this alternative before PRODing or CSD. Note however, that users will often revert or usurp redirects to re-create deleted articles. Do regularly patrol the redirects in the feed.
- Not English
- A common issue: Pages not in English or poor, unattributed machine translations should not reside in main space even if they are stubs. Please ensure you are familiar with WP:NPPNE. Check in Google for the language and content, and if they do have potential, tag as required, then move to draft. Modify the text of the template as appropriate before sending it.
- Tools
Regular reviewers will appreciate the most recent enhancements to the New Pages Feed and features in the Curation tool, and there are still more to come. Due to the wealth of information now displayed by ORES, reviewers are strongly encouraged to use the system now rather than Twinkle; it will also correctly populate the logs.
Stub sorting, by SD0001: A new script is available for adding/removing stub tags. See User:SD0001/StubSorter.js, It features a simple HotCat-style dynamic search field. Many of the reviewers who are using it are finding it an improvement upon other available tools.
Assessment: The script at User:Evad37/rater makes the addition of Wikiproject templates extremely easy. New page creators rarely do this. Reviewers are not obliged to make these edits but they only take a few seconds. They can use the Curation message system to let the creator know what they have done.
DannyS712 bot III is now patrolling certain categories of uncontroversial redirects. Curious? Check out its patrol log.

DYK for Wynand Boshoff
On 18 September 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Wynand Boshoff, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that South African Member of Parliament Wynand Boshoff is the grandson of assassinated apartheid-era Prime Minister Hendrik Verwoerd? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Wynand Boshoff. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Wynand Boshoff), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Alan Winde Suggestion
This help request has been answered. If you need more help, you can , contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse. |
Hello, there. Thank you for taking the time to help me. I have been editing Alan Winde's Wikipedia article for a LONG time now. Yes, I have nominated the article for "Peer Reviewing". I would just appreciate it if you could maybe just check over my work and give me a few pointers so that I can improve the article's quality. I would like to nominate it for Good Article status. LefcentrerightTalk 11:25, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
- This is like asking permission to ask a question. Just let the peer review process take its course. While you are waiting, one thing I saw that you could do is change one of the titles of one of your references so that it is not in all-caps. It may be that way on the website being cited, but we generally conform such titles to our own manual of style. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 12:32, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
Bible Society of India
Hi, recently, I noticed some 'authorized changes' in Bible Society of India, wherein I have upscaled the content over a period of time over the past couple of years'. However, a certain user, has been changing and reverting my edits citing 'authorized changes'. This user may be related to the institution (Bible Society of India), but I have left a note on the user talk page that Wikipedia is not an official front for their institutional updates to be posted from time to time, but they could do so on their own web site. Am I right in doing so and in my actions. Request your inputs. Thank you. Meher Mansion (talk) 18:23, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Meher Mansion: Hello, there. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It is appreciated. I have reviewed the "View history" section of the article. I have noticed that a user by the name of "Lastmoriarity" has been doing your changes with edit summaries such as "Authorized Changes by bible society of India Central office" and many other similar summaries. I am not the best person to help you with this matter. I am more than obliged to maybe point you in the direction of the admins. They have more knowledge about incidents similar to the one you are currently experiencing with that user, meaning they can help you more effectively. Cheers. I think that you should put this tag on this article.
Content
- @Jeromi Mikhael: Care to explain your particular choice of why I should put an unspecific tag on an article? Also, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from Agustinus Jelani. @Lefcentreright: I expect to receive a reasoned response to my reason why this article should not be deleted. I can exchange almost any word except the key data items and link words to something else if this is really what you believe is needed. Downsize43 (talk) 00:14, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Downsize43: Unfortunately, your article contained a copyright violation. Copyrighted work is NOT allowed on Wikipedia. Here are some hints to help you avoid a WP:COPYVIO: Write everything in your own words. Try to summarise as much as you can. I suggest using a thesaurus (try an online one in order to supplement words).

Tagging of MasterChef Junior Thailand (season 2)
I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on MasterChef Junior Thailand (season 2). I do not think that MasterChef Junior Thailand (season 2) fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because With enough for a stub in English, there is no reason to delete, simple editing is sufficient.. I request that you consider not re-tagging MasterChef Junior Thailand (season 2) for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 16:18, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
- @DESiegel: I see that all the Thai language parts have been removed, so there is now no need for it to be deleted. Good. LefcentrerightTalk (plz ping) 16:21, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
- Moreover, they are in the history, so any editor with the language skills can translate them if desired. Indeed, with them being simple tables of facts, google translate might be sufficient, although it isn't good enough yet for general article prose. In general, speedy deletion should not be used when another solution is available at a reasonable effort. No admin tools were needed for this edit. Please consider whether to use speedy deletion in such cases in future. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 16:26, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
