Deletion of Doghouse Diaries
Although the article has been deleted, I wasn't able to get any response for my last edit, which includes another reference from webmagazine, MakeUseOf. I agree some of these webmagazines I have never heard of, but that doesn't really qualify them to be unreliable sources. For example MakeUseOf, has a full editorial board, and not just from the magazine, but also from its wiki entry it seems like a reliable web magazine. In any case, this was my final comment, if because of this you change your mind, please let me know what I could do.
I have added yet another reference which puts doghouse diaries in the list of Top 8 web comics. This was in the web-magazineMakeUseOf, an independent media magazine, with an independent editorial board. MakeUseOf, Mashable and Gizmodo, each of them have covered Doghouse Diaries well enough to qualify it to be notable. The objection however could be as to whether the above sources are reliable or not. Here are my points why they could be considered reliable
- They are not related to Doghouse Diaries, nor does it seem that they are trying to unfairly promote Doghouse Diaries.
- They have editorial system, for which I refer to their corresponding wiki articles, for example the editorial for MakeUseOf is Editorial staff. Each one of them has an Editor-in-chief and so on.
The clarity of this discussion would be enhanced if the other wiki editors could cite the reason why they think the above references cannot be taken as reliable. Points like Mashable is a trivial source, is a trivial argument.Shashi B Jain (talk) 09:03, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Shashi, thanks for the note. I had looked at the MakeUseOf reference, and it was probably the closest source to providing notability, but I didn't find it convincing. The Doghouse Diaries did get named in top X webcomic on a some sites. That fact is not in dispute. My position on the matter is being named as part of the top 10, top 20, etc. webcomics by a website does not establish notability. I would like to see an article in a reliable source about the site, not a top 10 webcomics listing. That is just my position on the matter. It is the Significant Coverage portion of the general notability guidelines, and signifigence is not in the number of articles that mention it, it is in the depth of coverage by said articles. Thanks again for the note. --kelapstick(bainuu) 09:17, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
The UFC article suggestion
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UFC_on_Fox
It appears theres a page thats already started. Want me to help with the format and stuff? JonnyBonesJones (talk) 07:15, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
- I would suggest not moving anything over there until the discussion moves forward, there is already at least one person who thinks it is a bad idea to split the numbered from the Fox and Fuel, so moving material from the omni over there without more discussion would be a bad idea. That is part of what brought up so much heat at 2012 in UFC events, editors thought that it was all being done without enough discussion (when in reality discussion took place at the AfD pages). In particular I would like more feedback from more of the MMA group that generally opposes the omnibus article on principle. --kelapstick(bainuu) 07:19, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
Vandal Counter
Please note that the following is only my personal view
- Although, I agree that the vandal counter ubx is funny but please consider changing the statement of the userbox. At the present state it gives a delicious invitation to vandalize your page. The statement is not helpful in any way. regards--ÐℬigXЯaɣ 12:32, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
- I guess The version below seems less problematic. --ÐℬigXЯaɣ 12:35, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the suggestion, but if people were going to vanadalize my user page, they would if I suggested they did or not. I would rather them vandalize here than in an article. --kelapstick(bainuu) 12:44, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
- I believe you are actively involved in vandal fighting, so you will surely be leaving warning templates on talk pages and reverts on talk history, new (and IP ) users follow the sign on talk page message and end up on your user page, rather than asking them to vandalize your userspace and update the counter, why not ask them to be productive. Besides this necessarily baits the poor soul to commit another crime and move a step closer to Banland dont be so cruel :) --ÐℬigXЯaɣ 13:54, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
- I wouldn't say that I am an active vandal fighter, I just pick it up where I see it. We ask non-constructive users to be constructive on their talk pages all the time, with warning templates, and that seldom works. Vandalism on my userpage doesn't bother me, and I consider it a controlled environment. I also don't think it particularly draws people to vandalize my user page, since August 2010 (I just had a quick look) I can count the number of incidents in which my user page was vandalized on one hand. And by that I mean true vandalism, it actually gets messed with by constructive editors more, who always update the counter after they self revert, I think they see it as a form of therapy. So while I appreciate your looking out for me, I don't think the counter/statement is particularly disruptive. Cheers, --kelapstick(bainuu) 21:55, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

- Excellent, I will let you know when I find out more, I usually stay a few blocks from the Irish pub (for a night or two before heading to site), so I am quite central. MB Beer Plus is a nice microbrewery near there if you fancy a change from the usual. --kelapstick(bainuu) 09:00, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

Help!
Hey K-stick, I need your geeky help. I'm looking to add a photo to The Kik, like this one, but the licensing won't work (I think) for us, and since I don't have (and want) a Yahoo account I can't get in touch with the guy who published it and ask him if he wants to donate a nice shot of Dave von Raven (I think that's the guy in the photo) and/or the band. Can you help, you wonderful man? BTW, have I told you how goodlooking and noble you are? Drmies (talk) 15:49, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Lots of great comments in the AFD. I think your point about Welling being more notable for Planet Funk than for films is both well-made and key. Please look at my WORK IN PROGRESS. Thanks, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 04:06, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- Fantastic work (as per usual) Michael. I agree, foremost he is a dance choreographer/instructor who has moved into film making, which is becoming a significant part of his career and should be included as such in his biography. I must have missed those two sources when I looked at the page originally, but this version certainly meets WP:HEY for me. --kelapstick(bainuu) 04:15, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- My guess is his HP press for his film is based on his Houston area notability because of Planet Funk, which is why they picked up the story, so the two are ultimately related. Again, well done. --kelapstick(bainuu) 04:17, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
In which we discuss Mr. Benjamin
I'm sorry but I'm new to this. I submitted that article about Author J.M. Benjamin because I felt him to be relevant to his profession and his community. This is my second time submitting it and each time it has been deleted I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Before I created the article this I took at a moment to review other authors that are listed here and basically did as someone did for them. The funny thing is that he is listed in articles through out Wikipedia however each someone creats an article in reference to him it gets deleted. HELP! Prod template
Your explanation at the RfA was spot on. See here and here toward the bottom of the topic.--Bbb23 (talk) 04:23, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
- It took me a while to figure it out, but it made the most sense to me. While you were posting this I went to the PROD page to request a wording change to must not so it would match, but it looks like you beat me to it. Hope you don't mind my responding for you, just wanted to get something rational posted before a mass of "OMG, what's with the PRODZ?!?!?!?!" comments. A mistake, yes. Minor, quite. Learning experience, absolutely. --kelapstick(bainuu) 04:27, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
- I wasn't going to respond anyway. I decided before the RfA started that I would respond only to questions. Thanks for stepping in. Actually, in my view, more than "must not" is needed in the tag. This might be the best:
You may remove this message if you improve the article or otherwise object to deletion for any reason. Although not required, your are encouraged to explain why you object to the deletion, either in your edit summary or on the talk page. If this template is removed, it must not be replaced.
- It wasn't the "should not" that tripped me up, although I can see why you thought that. It was the second sentence, which I read to require an explanation. I know it didn't say that, but that was the way I read it. I obviously should have looked at the policy, but I tend to trust the language in those sorts of templates. Oh, well, live and learn.--Bbb23 (talk) 04:35, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
- In general I abhor long threaded replies to votes in RfAs and when they involve people who are not the candidate. I think I have only responded to one other oppose/neutral (except for my own), and that was Dennis Brown, maybe Drmies as well, but I can't remember. I can probably count the number I have participated in on two hands. When I do respond to a comment it is only when I see something that:
- I clearly disagree with or should be explained/justified and
- Has potential to derail the process for no good reason
- I saw it as a concern, but not enough for the possible pile-on that it could result in. The tag should be changed, we should not have tags that have wording that does not match the policy. "Here's to plain speaking and clear understanding." Best of luck with the rest of the RfA.--kelapstick(bainuu) 04:44, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
- I can be pretty stubborn sometimes, so when I decided not to comment in the vote sections, it's unlikely that I would do so for any reason, although I think your "rules" are more flexible. I also think that enough people have my back so it's simply unnecessary. Look what you did, and I don't even know you. :-) Thanks again.--Bbb23 (talk) 04:54, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of List of notable people who have articles on Wikipedia regarding their use of Twitter
A tag has been placed on List of notable people who have articles on Wikipedia regarding their use of Twitter requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer. Please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. CyanGardevoir (used EDIT!) 03:52, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
- Not that I object to the nomination, however R3 does not apply to redirects caused by a page move (as I was just discussing a few minutes earlier.) I'd suggest waiting until the AfD finishes. Cheers, --kelapstick(bainuu) 04:07, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Temagami mines
I recreated and expanded the Beanland Mine article a few days ago. Since that is done, I am now focusing on Sherman Mine, which could become a large article. I remember when you did the review for Big Dan Mine you stated that you would love to see something during operation. It's probably not possible to find pictures of something during operation at Big Dan, but I do have seven old pictures (1960s?) of Sherman when it was open, including a shovel, the mine plant, a shovel loading a truck, people constructing the railway, ore cars at the silo, a 650 Rech with someone drilling and there is another picture that I'm pretty sure is the South Pit. The only thing I'm not too sure about is uploading them on Wikimedia Commons. I don't have much information on when the pictures were taken or who created the pictures. They are just part of a collection. Volcanoguy 00:52, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hmmm, are they actually photographs you have, or are they online? If you don't know the creator and they are not old enough to be public domain, it is unlikely you can put them on Commons, a case may be made to upload them as fair use here (maybe). --kelapstick(bainuu) 03:31, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
- They are not mine in person, but I asked the owner (actually a friend that used to work at the mine in the 60s) if I could use them and he said it was alright. I'm just not sure what I'm supposed to do if I don't know what year they were taken or who the author was. Just put "unknown"? Volcanoguy 04:28, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
- Author unknown would be what you would put. For year you could put c. 1960s. As for if your friend would actually be the copyright owner of the pictures is another story (even though they are the owner of those individual photographs.) Might be best to ask someone who is a little more tuned in on copyright than I am, maybe User:Moonriddengirl? Although her expertise may be more in the copyright violation end of it...--kelapstick(bainuu) 05:01, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
- Note that if you did use them, and your friend could make a valid claim to being the copyright holder, they would probably need an ORTS ticket to accompany the files. --kelapstick(bainuu) 05:07, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: John Lundstram
Hello Kelapstick. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of John Lundstram, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: this shows it isn't a hoax: http://www.evertonfc.com/player-profile/john-lundstram . not sure about notability however. - Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia! I did not give Graham the letter that you posted, however he will be able to review it should he wish to, he still has access to it in his talk page history. Whilst I appreciate your trying to give your brother his place in history, it still doesn't give you the right to refer to other editors as "morons". Should you wish to furnish Graham with another copy of the letter, you may do so on his talk page, however I recommend that you:
- Turn off the Caps Lock when you type your message
- Do not refer to him as a moron in your message.
- Sign your message with four tildes (~~~~)
- You will find that your point comes across much better if you do these things, thank you. --kelapstick(bainuu) 12:56, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

User talk:FOSWMT
I saw that you commented about me at FOSWMT's talk page. My warning has nothing to do with Speckled Wood, Hastings. The warning was for blanking of Wikipedia:Cleanup by User:FOSWMT --Anbu121 (talk me) 16:39, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- Hadn't noticed that (should have read a little closer), but thanks for pointing it out, either way a level three warning was a little excessive. The only actual "warning" he had on his page was a single issue notification for having a promotional username. He was starting to get riled up over what was going on over at Speckled Wood, and I don't think it helped. Whilst I agree that he was out of line blanking the page, we usually don't start with a level three (even for page blanking). Much thanks for the message. Denholm Elliot article
Not sure who the asshole is who keeps deleting the already-uploaded Denholm Elliot image (I think is a thumbnail image from Raiders of the Lost Ark) but I'm going to keep adding it back to the article. Its already in the commons, in ought to be in the article. Period. --98.246.156.76 (talk) 07:44, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- File:MarcusBrody.jpg is a fair use image, it can only be used in articles for which a fair use rational has been written. It is not on Commons. There is no fair use rational for its use in Denholm Elliott, although a case could be made for its inclusion, it hasn't been done yet. Please do not add it to the article without an appropriate Fair User Rationale. Thank you, the ass hole that keeps removing it kelapstick(bainuu) 23:25, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

you are going to have to explain what is unconstructive about an infobox and isbn numbers. 198.24.31.118 (talk) 17:53, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
- I don't have to do anything, and I would appreciate less sass. Who said anything about unconstructive? Certainly not me,
certainly not any of the other two editors who reverted you. I choose my words carefully. Something you are unfamiliar with as you labeled My76Strat's edits as vandalism, which they clearly were not. But let me address your comments (and others) directly, since I am talking to you anyway:- Infobox - The article is a stub, and an infobox is not necessary as it only has three entries, plus the picture (although there is no reason not to include it, I see no value in it).
- Occupation (he was a visiting professor, but is a writer, so it's wrong anyway)
- Language is unneccesary
- Nationality is included in the paragraph
- ISBN - Take a look at Ernest Hemingway and Ian Fleming, both featured articles. No ISBN in listed works.
- Your addition of external links. The addition of redlinks rather than links to the books are more appropriate as it suggests article creation. All of those books could have articles, we generally don't like directly within an article, that is what the external links section is for.
- The article is so short a lead section is completely unnecessary. One paragraph is sufficient.
- Infobox - The article is a stub, and an infobox is not necessary as it only has three entries, plus the picture (although there is no reason not to include it, I see no value in it).
- I hope this concludes our business here, the only reply I expect is your explaining why you are making changes against standard Wikipedia conventions, but should you not not wish to, I understand. Good day. --kelapstick(bainuu) 18:18, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

- you don't know about the anti-admin brigade? That's reason enough to oppose your RfA ;) Well, if you don't know now, when you get the bit it won't be long before you find out. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 12:03, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
- I'm part of it. Yeah, we need to have moderators here...but the whole fetish of the site over it and over moderation in general is a total fucking drag. And then there's the wannabe admins, kiddy admins, and the "don't be mean to people at RFA" 2011 reformers. I think I'm feeling more and more Kiefer had a good point.TCO (talk) 17:11, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the nice reply at your RfA and the invitation for discussion here.
- Nobody does even moderate vetting of the candidates anymore. Where are the SandyGeorgia's going through 20 articles and checking sources? Where are the Snowden's of yesteryear?
- I have an allergic reaction to nomination statements (self and selfless) that don't show me one example of the candidate thinking for himself and shaping debate---one example of backbone or forebrain (or preferably both).
- For this RfA, my scrutiny was minimal, but honestly I did not find an article that interested me. (Usually I can find one!) Perhaps this is a sign of my declining interest in Wikipedia?
- For obvious reasons, I am suspicious of administrators as a class and I am inclined to vote conservatively. The last RfA, like today's announcement of JPI's canonization, just had nice things to say. Please examine the new administrator's contribution to The World Traveler's talk page (on top of about 4 previous administrators' admonishments) to see whether my oppose and my instincts have proved to have some merit.
- RfA's do have a political purpose in terms of defining the community's ethos. I think that the emphasis on proper sourcing and avoiding paraphrasing a couple years ago may have helped the encyclopedia project. Currently, I would like to know that the candidate is e.g. like Pedro or Bishonen, etc.---somebody who will speak honestly and try to be accurate, and have some recognition of complexities---even if we usually disagree. I don't know of a short way to write my concerns except by reference to virtue, which is unlikely to go over well.
- Good luck!
- Kiefer.Wolfowitz 19:49, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Kiefer, you are correct. There is not nearly the background checking at RfA that there was some time ago (in particular thinking back to my last one). As for shaping discussions, I don't generally get involved in noticeboards and similar. As noted I generally just write content. I do occasionally take part in deletion discussions, although not many lately, so I don't think you would find me leading and shaping discussions in many cases. I am sure that will probably just keep you leaning more on the oppose side, and I am OK with that. Feel free to drop by if you need to take a load off some time, my talk page is always open and I have no objection to being told when I am acting like an asshat. TCO, Kudpung, thanks for stopping by. Looks like things were busy overnight, I have a lot of reading to catch up on this morning. --kelapstick(bainuu) 22:19, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

Copying within Wikipedia
Hi Kelapstick! I noticed in your RFA a remark that led me to believe that you think there's no copyright implications of copying within Wikipedia. That's not so. The material in Wikipedia is copyright and is released under a Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike license. The content can be re-used, but attribution must be given. For a small excerpt, you can use an edit summary (for example, Diff of Madagascar Plan). For larger chunks, I like to use the {{Copied}} template, which should be applied to both the source and destination articles. Please see Wikipedia:Reusing Wikipedia content for more information on this subject. Let me be the first to welcome you to the admin corps! Best, -- Diannaa (talk) 18:22, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Diannaa, yes I see what you mean. In the reply to Q4 I only reference copyright material, but I am aware of the CC attribution requirements of Wikipedia. Usually what I do is use an edit summary as I did here in Mining in Mongolia when borrowing material from Oyu Tolgoi mine. Sometimes I find that I have collaborated with someone in userspace on an article that was created in the mainspace in the interim, such as the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off, so I requested a history merge which was done here. That's not really reusing material but it is related to copying material and ensuring attribution. I have used the copied template before, and suggested a change to the wording of it here. In hindsight there are a couple articles that I should add the template to (in addition to the already existing edit summary attribution). There is a series of about three or four articles in the Mining in Mongolia series that were used as basis for sections of each other. Thanks for dropping in, and for the early welcome. --kelapstick(bainuu) 22:14, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for clarifying, Kelapstick. I just needed to set myself at ease that you were aware of these requirements, as it's been kinda in the back of my mind for a few days now. You seem to have a good knowledge of some of these issues, which is a good thing, as the copyright investigation dept is always short-handed. hint hint -- Diannaa (talk) 22:21, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
- Diannaa, I saw that too, the possibility of ambiguity. At any rate, thanks for asking and K, thanks for clarifying. You're getting close to 100: that's exciting. Drmies (talk) 23:25, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

Bacon Explosion
I was editing Bacon Explosion trying to capitalize each instance of bacon explosion. Everything was going well until I changed preperation to preparation in infoboxes. Red lines everywhere. I was smart enough to click on Cancel. Please look for "preparation" in the .JPG description. I will leave the editing of Bacon Explosion to someone who is qualified. My early congratulations to you! thank you
thank you very much for mention me to create my own sandbox. I am having another problem about practise. I found that {{navbox}} is implemented by lua script called Module:navbox, this is very nice! so i want to learn and practice, but i think that if i create a page naming User:Extirpate/Module:testscript ,that will not work. It means that i have to creat a test script under "Module:" namespace. Could i do this? Create a page named Module:sandbox?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Extirpate (talk • contribs)

Deleting Vidiby.com
I contested the deletion, yet no reply was given before it was deleted. Many other "websites" have wikipedia pages, please explain to me why pages such as "Net-a-Porter" are allowed to exist on Wikipedia while others can't. The language used in the Vidiby.com article wasn't boastful, or did not use any "promotional" languages. It also explained the history, mission, and the naming origin in the article (which was also explained in the contest to deletion). It was for informational purposes, which is the sole reason why Wikipedia exists in the first place! Also, if the deletion is permanent, at least provide a way to backup the written text where the article used to be.Vidiby (talk) 06:58, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Vidiby, I agree the page vidivy.com was not particularly boastful, you are correct. But it also didn't explain why it was important, which is why it was deleted. You say in your deletion contesting that it is not well known. Net-a-Porter is sourced from one the Telegraph and Bloomberg, and while the article needs work, those do show that they it is a notable subject. Cheers, --kelapstick(bainuu) 07:18, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi Kstick hope you're having a good summer or winter (depending on what hemi you're in these days). I've been away for a longtime and recenlty missed so much—whatever drama led the good Doctor to hang up the mop, and more to the point, your picking one up. Thanks for the nice mention in your nom. Bongomatic 08:36, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
- Well, well, well, Bongo. Good to hear from you. I was wondering where you had gotten to; thought you may have fallen off the edge of the earth. Yes it seems you may have missed some of the excitement around here this week. Sorry you missed my RfA (by 29 hours no less!), but don't worry I will be sure to invite you to the third one after I get desysoped for gross incompetence. If you start here you should be able to backtrack and find the events to Drmies and Boing! handing in their mops (their formal requests are still up at WP:BN). Good to have you back (if you are back more regularly). Let me know if you come up with anything interesting to write about. I am having a bit of writer's block these days. --kelapstick(bainuu) 08:57, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
- Well, my reasons aren't really up there. MZMcBride speculates on their user pages about my reason for my diva-ish move, and they managed to get it completely incorrect. Malleus's block has something to do with it, but it's the behavior of some other admins that I found troubling enough to not want to be associated with them as a group. I'm still pissed at the venom and the personal attacks spouted by some admins--and no one batted an eye lid. K-stick, not you of course, haha. Bongo, it's nice to see you again. I'll be checking in on K-stick every now and then, of course. K, again, congratulations. Drmies (talk) 23:02, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
- I was sure all the details were not in there; we will have to discuss the details over a glass of scotch one day Doc. Hopefully by this time next year I will be living in Turks and Caicos, so maybe we will have rum instead. --kelapstick(bainuu) 23:15, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

Do you have Mongolian translation skills?
Паркын танилцуулгаАялалаа төлөвлөеАрга хэмжээБилет болон захиалга is apparently languishing. I have no idea if it is worth fooling with or not. I just found it by going through some of the pages that needed categorization. LadyofShalott 18:02, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
- I have skills, but they aren't very good. From what I gather it is about a fun park. Probably the National Amusement Park (the closest thing we have an article about is Artificial Lake Castle). There is a section about the castle further down the article, probably that one. Морин тойруулга is about a carousel, Багтаамж: 40 means "capacity: 40", Хугацаа: 2 мин means "length: 2 minutes". The title is wrong, you can see where it misissing spaces at the mid-word capital A and Б. Maybe G Purevdorj can confirm my dodgy translation for you, but as it sits now I would suggest deleting. I will work on a new version of an article about the park when I get back to Mongolia in a couple weeks. --kelapstick(on the run) 12:30, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

- Or you can come by my house since I'm grilling yet again. This would be so much better if I had a TV outside and could watch football. Drmies (talk) 22:51, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- Well as it turns out I am watching Firefly, not preparing for Friday's trip to Papua. I didn't know you could do scifi tv without British accents. I hope my passport returns in time. Oh BG, I just finished season 3 of Torchwood, thanks for the recommendation. Season four is available on Canadian, but not US Netflix. Fortunately I have access to both. --kelapstick(on the run) 00:12, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

- I love Firefly! Where are you in the series? Be sure to see Serenity (the movie, not the same as the pilot with the same title) after you finish the tv series. I'm in Season 3 of Dr Who - I "met" Martha Jones tonight. I haven't seen any of Torchwood yet. LadyofShalott 03:15, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- I loved Martha Jones. She would be my 2nd favourite companion. I didn't know Lady was a Brown Coat. If you love Mal in Firefly, you will love Capt. Jack in Torchwood. Capt. Jack also shows up in Dr. Who. My wife can't get enough of him. Everyone in my family is in love with Continuum. I didn't know Canada could actually produce a good show. Season 1 is on Netflix streaming. It's not as good as Who/Firefly, but still enjoyable.
- Speaking of Scottish redheads. There is this. Her name is Bethany Woodruff and I've actually seen her in some plays and shook her hand.
- My parents are mad at you Kelapstick for raising their property tax. Your little landslide is causing a decrease in sales tax which is being made up in property tax. My favourite photo... The tires on those trucks are 15 feet in diameter. Bgwhite (talk) 05:24, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- LoS, I just finished the pilot, but I intend to watch the series, and the movie before moving onto The Walking Dead. BG, Lady would have been introduced to Captain Jack in Season 1, the one with the gas masks during the London Blitz, through to |Bad Wolf". Mrs. Kelapstick loves him too, and is probably one of the reasons she likes Dr. Who. Lady, wait until you reach the Eleventh Doctor, he is my favourite (with BGWhite's favourite companion, I must confess...mine too). I have also been going back (in time) to watch some of the older ones. This far I have watched old ones from the First through Fifth Doctors. As for the landslide, I was safely in Mongolia when that happened, however I do know an Australian who was there at the time. If it makes your parents feel any better they can blame him. Maybe I will change the image at the top of my talk page to one from Tembagapura when I get back. Cheers, --kelapstick(bainuu) 14:55, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- I pretty much worship at the cult of Joss Whedon. My dream tv program/movie is a Whedon adaptation of almost anything by Neil Gaiman. K. is right BG, that I met Captain Jack in Season One. Do y'all know where the Torchwood starts being interleaved with Dr Who? My friend with whom I'm watching these is also a big Captain Jack fan. Donna is her favorite companion; I'm missing Rose Tyler at this point, although I do like Martha so far. I'm unfamiliar withContinuum. LadyofShalott 17:34, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- Torhchwood was introduced as a story arc in season two, when queen Victoria founded the torchwood institute. Note that it is also an anagram of Doctor Who. They are first mentioned in David Tennents first episode when they blow up an alien ship. On the whole they are pretty separate shows though. Other then showing up in a few episodes torchwood isn't really in Doctor Who, and vice versa. Especially after Doomsday (Doctor Who), when Torhwood 1 was blown up, which is a little before where you are now. I would suggest waiting until then end of season four before starting torchwood, because you get more background on captain Jack, but you could really start anytime and it wouldn't make a difference. The best part about tv shows about time travel is it doesn't matter what order you watch them in. :) --kelapstick(on the run) 18:54, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- Lady, Neil Gaiman does write a couple of Dr. Who episodes. One in season 6 and one in 7. I must admit that I'm probably the only person who hated American Gods. Donna is my third favourite companion. I like her because she is "old" and gives it straight back to the Dr. I haven't seen season 3 of The Walking Dead as it isn't out on Netflix yet. Season one is ok and two is a snooze fest. I hear season three is the best so far. Bgwhite (talk) 06:38, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

Oh BG, I just finished season 3 of Torchwood, thanks for the recommendation. Season four is available on Canadian, but not US Netflix. Fortunately I have access to both. --kelapstick(on the run) 00:12, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

Hiya
Sorry, normally I would do a full investigation and report the results to you, but at the moment I am just going to have to ask you to please take a look at User:Pryzbilla and User:Java Kingpin, who are both socks of a certain infamous paid editor. I don't know what to do about this, they have a lot of clients and accounts, and I am not a checkuser. Because these accounts are trying to inflate their editcount in order to circumvent our protection mechanisms they made a lot of this kind of edits, so basically everything they did should be reverted. 77.166.70.218 (talk) 03:40, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- Mass reverting isn't going to do much, they will still reach autopatrolled status (the only status reached by edit counts), so I am not sure what you expect me to do. I also am not a checkuser, so short of reviewing their edits and deleting/blocking where appropriate there is not much I can do about it. I am also not sure why you came to me with this...--kelapstick(bainuu) 13:44, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- The goal of mass-reverting their edits is not to decrease their editcount (that doesn't work, and who cares about editcount anyway), the goal is to undo the damage they caused by making edits for the sake of making edits. Most of those edits have a negative effect, and some are neutral, but it is rare to find one that is improving Wikipedia. When I started investigating you were in the recent changes list. Apart from mass-reverting and blocking you can warn the modmaillist that these guys are active again, certain people already know their idiosyncracies, and you can write a CU request. TBH I cba to write a CU request atm. If you don't want to, then please ask someone else. 77.166.70.218 (talk) 19:47, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Inland taipan
The mouse issue is not the only issue. The page is poorly referenced. It may look like it has got plenty of references, but many of them are zoo notes on the taipan, newspaper articles, magazines, and the like. Very few journalistic work referenced. The whole article is hyper-focused on the inland taipan's venom toxicity. I wrote the Black mamba article, which is well rounded and is up for GA level status. Look at the black mamba article and look at the inland taipan - look at the difference in reference usage, for example. The IP user is a "fan" as he claimed, while I hold two Bachelors of Science degrees in Biology (with a focus on zoology, particularly herpetology) and in Medical Laboratory Science. The Inland taipan page is basically about the venom, with a few other details of its ecology and behaviour. It needs to be protected a bit longer, in my opinion, so that editors who know the subject can make the changes it needs. --DendroNaja (talk) 15:32, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
- DendroNaja you are misunderstanding why I protected the page, and the purpose of page protection in general. I didn't protect it so you could edit the page without IPs bothering you, that is contrary to policy. I did it to prevent the two of you from edit warring about a rather trivial matter, thus preventing the need for me to block the two of you for edit warring and violating the three revert rule. The revision was not vandalism, and we don't semi protect just for the purpose of keeping IPs out. I quite frankly don't care about the content of the page, or how qualified you are to write about it. What I care about is getting the two of you to discuss the changes rather than reverting each other to the point of getting yourselves blocked. So no I am not going to extend the protection, if you want to improve the article that is great, but until there is extensive vandalism it will not be long term semi protected. --kelapstick(on the run) 16:43, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
The article of the Inland taipan looks like a decent article at first glance, but as you read it, you begin to notice many problems. I have initiated a discussion on the talk page as you had requested, but it seems like I'm only talking to myself and wasting my time. I recently added a WP:CITEKILL, which is a citation problem and the article is clearly in violation of this, as a category. Within hours, this was reverted by the same IP user(s) that are damaging the article. It has many citation problems which are far more serious than citation overkill. A lot of magazines, newspapers, animal facts from zoo websites (meant for juveniles), and youtube videos (which more often than not over sensationalised for dramatic effect are used as sources/references. The article also not broad in coverage, focusing on the one fact that it is the "most venomous snake in the world". Within the herpetology, LD50 ratings on mice are nothing more than a gauge to get some sort of idea on the venom of a particular species. It is not meant to be taken as seriously as many people, not just this IP user, take it to be. A bite from the inland taipan has never caused a fatality, and I several of the victims of its bite lived without seeking any medical attention. Many far less "far less venomous" species have caused death even with vigorous treatment - so that should tell you a few a things. I have and will continue to avoid reverting the edits, but it is only to the detriment of the article that I am doing this. The IP user is not engaging in any discussion which I have initiated and he is reverting any and all edits I make. However, I really want this WP:CITEKILL to be left as a category on the page because citation problems are a major issue within the article. Take a look: here. I truly believe that the article should be temporarily semi-protected for a longer period of time. But that's just my opinion. --DendroNaja (talk) 16:31, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
- You initiated a discussion today, and then came here almost immediately to say that the IPs were not discussing it. Now I see they have started talking, so keep the discussion there. --kelapstick(bainuu) 00:03, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
I initiated a discussion around the time I requested the semi-protection. Just look back at the other posts in the talk page. However, I got not a single response from this IP/anon user. I am not going to revert or make any necessary changes - I'm not going to get myself blocked for violating 3RR over this self-confessed "fan", who's likely in his late teens to mid-twenties whose favorite animal is the inland taipan and so he has a reality of his own when it comes to anything related to this snake. He behaves in a way that makes one come to the conclusion that he right now feels like that article is his and his alone. I am not the only editor who is having everything I edit on the page be reverted. He is guarding that article day and night like it was his little child. He will revert things even if one or two high quality and verifiable sources are attached to the edit simply because it doesn't match or agree with what he believes about the snake. This is a case of an obsessed/fanatical young person who will simply not engage in discussion and not tolerate any others, whether they're other IPs or registered editors. The article is not a complete train wreck, but to the eyes of someone who was trained and works in that field, it is cringe inducing sometimes to read the article. Besides, he is in violation of so many Wikipedia policies and guidelines. There's WP:OR, WP:V, WP:POV, WP:SYN, WP:CITEKILL and some WP:CV. Besides that, the article may look nice at first glance or may sound really "cool" for anyone who doesn't understand these creatures, but to those that have been schooled and works in the field, it is cringe inducing if they were to read it. The entire article is focused on one thing: the fact that it produces the lowest number when laboratory mice are injected with its venom, making it the snake with the most toxic venom. However, this is just a gauge. Venom varies in composition at all taxonomic levels (interfamily, intergenus, interspecies, intersubspecies, intraspecies, and even down to individual specimens). The LD50 or median lethal dose of a the venom of a particular species is dependent upon many factors, including geographical region, diet, seasonal variations, habitat, age-dependent variations, gender variations, and it goes on and on. One single specimen of species X may be able to produce venom that's up to 10x more toxic in a particular season (we'll say summer) than the venom that this very same snake produces during the winter. Another example is the fact that studies have shown that Indian cobras from eastern India had just about 2x the potency of Indian cobras found in the eastern India. Then there was variation in toxicity among the Indian cobras in eastern and western India depending on localities, so for example, one village in eastern India might have cobras that are 3-5x more venomous than anther village 200 kilometres (200,000 m) away and this can be due to the diet of the cobras from these two different localities. Arboreal snakes that spend much of their lives in trees have more toxic venom to birds than terrestrial species who may prey more on mammals and as a result will have more toxic venom to mice or rats than those arboreal snakes. It's not all so clear cut as this IP user seems to make it out to be. The article of the Inland taipan is a joke for an encyclopedia, and nobody can do anything about it because he won't engage in discussion and he he will revert anything and everything that doesn't agree with his fantasy or imagined reality of the snake. Only an administrator can put a stop to this. Right now I'm quite busy with the Black mamba article, it's close to reaching its GA status. Than I have other things in mind (either the Jameson's mamba or the Indian cobra). So unless an admin takes some real action here to protect the inland taipan page, I am not going to be touching it. It's useless - you change something on the article, he reverts, you change it back, he will revert again and this ends up being an edit war and it's the last thing I need. Sorry I'm just rambling now. Hope something can be done here. It would be a shame if that article remained that way for the world to read biased, half-truths and exaggerated "facts" on this species (an example, he claims that an untreated mortality rate is 80% - but there has never ever been a recorded incident of a fatality due to envenomation by this species and very few bites). What's even funnier is that two (or maybe it was even three) of the documented victims received absolutely no medical attention, although they were very sick for up to a week and they slowly began to improve. All lived without even stepping foot in a hospital or so much as taking an antihistamine. Yet, a 80%% fatality rate in untreated bites? (what's worse is that he got this from the University of Adelaide's Clinical Toxinology Resource website, which is a reliable source, although I've seen some things that were just not factual, though I attribute those to mistakes (the database is enormous, and mistakes occur) rather than deliberate bias or anything. Something needs to be done here about this IP user, however. I'm not going to get into an edit war with him (and other editors aren't willing to either) and he is not discussing any of the issues with me either, so.... --DendroNaja (talk) 09:40, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
- This response is far too long for me to read, as I said I don't particularly care about the content. My protecting was to stop the revert war, and to get a discussion going. If you want it semi protected you can take it back to RFPP, if someone else wants to protect it that's fine with me. Another option is to write a draft in your userspace so you aren't getting reverted every time you make an edit they don't like. Then you can copy it over in one shot. --kelapstick(on the run) 10:11, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

Hey!
Regarding my request at WP:RFPP for Lawn, Newfoundland and Labrador, it seems like you have declined the request stating: Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection.. The page did have 9 reverts during 2014, meanwhile a page which you've protected, which was a few reports below mine, had 5 reverts during 2014. Just curious, not mad at you. Best, ///EuroCarGT 22:32, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
- @EuroCarGT:, how are you? Thanks for stopping by, on the surface it looks pretty cut and dry, however if you look at the protection log, Coyote Ugly was under a months worth of semi-protection late last year. It seems to be a recurring thing, someone really feels that Emily Blunt was the start of the film (in September of last year there was a mess of back and forth reverting). The second reason is the last two vandalism edits on Lawn were done by a registered (and autoconfirmed) user, smemiprotecting the page would have had no effect on his editing. Also he hadn't been given any manual warnings (you will see I popped a level three here shortly after I declined the protection), just notifications by ClueBot. I thought the best course of action would be to decline semiprotection (as having no effect anyway), and block said user if they keep up the shenanigans. The reply was just a stock template that they provide, it was really declined as ineffective and not a significant amount of vandalism. The CU protection is because it is a pattern of the exact same vandalism. If the Lawn edits were by an IP or not autoconfirmed user I wouldn't have indefinite it anyway, probably just a few days, enough to make the kids lose interest. Hope this answers your questions, feel free to drop by again. --kelapstick(bainuu) 22:57, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
- Beg your pardon, the user in question is not autoconfirmed, but after another five edits his account will be. --kelapstick(bainuu) 23:01, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
- Alrighty then! Thanks, that was a long read, but it was quite descriptive and comprehensible. And by seeing your user page, a Canadian Wikipedian who's from Nova Scotia, that is pretty cool as well. Best, ///EuroCarGT 00:16, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Page protection - Tier-3
Hi,
You earlier declined the request to semi-protect the page relating to Tier-3. I am going to re-request it because the corrections have been undone (i.e. the vandalism has been redone) by anonymous user/IP address again. This is three times now. The changes that have been made are opinions - in particular comments about the size of the company, the quality of its products. Wikipedia is supposed to be facts - not opinion, malice, vandalism and a forum for former employees or competitors (both are true in this case) to try and score points. If it can be semi protected at least there can be a discussion on the talk page about the edits...
Thanks 176.24.187.52 (talk) 22:10, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
- Only1weasel (presumably you logged out) I don't think that three reverts is enough to warrant semiprotection, but feel free to relist if you want someone another opinion. You should be discussing this with the editor in question however, you can do so on their talk page. If you are have a close connection to the company as indicated by the editor adding the information you should read our conflict of interest guideline (note that I am not commenting on the validity of your edits). --kelapstick(bainuu) 22:34, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
Shafts
Good to hear you got some work again. You will probably be missing the time off soon enough. I just had three weeks off after a run-in with my dog playing football and five stitches in my right foot. Not doggies fault, may I add. Should have worn boots. Can we expect an article on your new place of work soon with some pictures? You are right, shaft mining is rare here nowadays but was much more common once. I just been to Hill End, New South Wales, plenty of shaft mining history there! The only recently active shaft mine I know of in WA is Mount Ida Gold Mine which is small scale and not active. Calistemon (talk) 04:02, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
Salt a page
By any chance can you salt Matt Kalinski, it's been recreated twice in the last 3 days, by someone who has been promoting this individual throughout wikipedia. Squatty potty
Thanks for the revert on squatty potty. I hadn't checked the page history, and only found out what happened after Twinkle had already posted the CSD notification on SuperHamster's talk page. QVVERTYVS (hm?) 19:17, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

- Ah darn. I came here with high hopes and I'm going to leave highly disappointed. I thought there was going to be thoughtful conversation about the squatty potty. On the bright side, it did remind me of PooPourri. A redhead, Scottish spokesperson and filmed in the county were I grew up. Ahhhhh.
Question about article for deletion
Hi Kelapstick, I have a question about Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Brian_Edwards_(celebrity_talent_executive). I added some information to the article in question after most of the voting had taken place, after which User:Magnolia677 then changed his/her vote. Was the new information used in the decision to delete the page? If so, that's fine. I know it was kind of a borderline article and just want to make sure nothing was needlessly deleted. Thanks, HtownCat (talk) 18:50, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- I was curious about that too. Significant biographical info was added after most had given their opinions. Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 19:01, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hi HtownCat and Magnolia677, thanks for coming by. I based my decision on the consensus of the deletion discussion. The consensus was the article was basically a resume and the subject didn't meet the notability criteria based on reliable sources available. I did take a look at the article to make sure that those claims were valid. If you look at the sources added after 3 March they were:
- IMDB (never suitable for establishing notability)
- The North Shore Report which is questionable as a reliable source
- A mention that he spoke at Donna Summer's induction into the Rock and Roll hall of fame (as part of a larger article about Donna Summer
- None of these establish notability beyond what was presented on 3 March, and consensus at that point was delete. If you still question my assessment of consensus you are welcome to request deletion review, I will certainly take no offense. Please note that DRV is not "AfD take 2", it is not used as a rehashing of the deletion discussion, it would be used to discuss if I made an error in the closing. --kelapstick(bainuu) 19:58, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- No problem, I was just looking for clarification. Thanks for explaining. HtownCat (talk) 21:19, 13 March 2014 (UTC)

- I said he might not recognize Drmies, not WikiLove (as there is a heart at the top of the talk pages, it should be pretty easy to understand the concept of dropping a cat on a user talk page). I agree, there was no need for a block for that, but what is done is done. C'est la vie as the French say. On another note, you should know better than to leave a Doctor Who link on Drmies' talk page, myself or Bgwhite on the other hand, no problem. Why the deletion?
Hi,
I created a meeting scheduler on wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Pavilion_Meetings_Scheduler_CMEF_2014. However, when I tried the link just now I found it has been deleted by you.
The meeting scheduler is created for our Canadian delegates to book meeting space at our Pavilion at a Trade show in Shenzhen, China.
Please advise if I mistakenly put some "illegal" content on wiki. Thank you.
Regard, — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.103.104.11 (talk) 10:05, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hello, The article as I deleted it was only a timetable with "company name" within the boxes of the tables. I deleted it as a test page, as that is what it looked like. Further to that Wikipedia is not a web host, it is an encyclopedia. You can't use it as a scheduler for your event. If you would like to use a Wiki so delegates can schedule, I would suggest something like Wikia, it is free to use (although it is supported by advertisements). --kelapstick(bainuu) 11:21, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
Vinalhaven School
Hi. Please don't revert my edit again. I was trolling before with all the Howard Stern names and I think it's safe to say we all had a good laugh but I feel bad about getting the legitimate faculty members removed. As a result, I won't be vandalizing this page anymore. They are both real teachers at the school (although Pete has since retired - maybe he should be under "former notable faculty"), and they did both win their respective awards. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.241.202.189 (talk) 02:29, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
- No. They don't seem to be particularly notable. Please don't add people to a list unless they already have a Wikipedia article. If they are not notable enough to have an article, they are not notable enough to be on a list of people who work there. --kelapstick(bainuu) 13:25, 27 March 2014 (UTC)
UK version?
That's what I used to watch, a long long time ago--fantastic. Drmies (talk) 02:51, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
- Just watched the first episode (although I used to watch the American version). I had no idea that Watson from Sherlock was in it. He also was in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (which I also watched recently, I am about halfway done the books). Me and Mrs. Kelapstick have also started House of Cards. I am tempted to watch the UK version of that too (I can actually get Netflix in my room at camp here). On an unrelated note, given your dislike for automated archiving, might I suggest installing one click archiving to your common.js file? Naturally you would have to actually use it... I have also installed link classifier. It has changed the way I look at this place. --kelapstick(bainuu) 03:06, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
- The really handy thing about link classifier is it highlights articles that are nominated for deletion in hot pink, and redirects in green, you do not realize how often redirects are used until they are lit up like a Christmas tree. --kelapstick(bainuu) 03:09, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
- Also I know how much you and LadyofShalott love the IFLS on Facebook (and Justin Bieber on Twitter), you will appreciated I managed to score (after some tough negotiation) a free image of the webmistress for her article. By a professional no less, excellent quality. --kelapstick(bainuu) 03:14, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

- IBCPirates if you have a question about editing Wikipedia (including articles about movies) feel free to ask. --kelapstick(bainuu) 22:29, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. If you provide an official website to refrences of a movie, like, Edward Scissorhands (which BTW, is the best movie in the whole world) and you make an edit, do you have to add another reference, even though you already added the official website? IBCPirates (talk) 22:33, 16 April 2014 (UTC)IBCPirates
- IBCPirates In general, you don't have to have a reference after every sentence, if one reference is at the end of a paragraph, it can be considered to be referencing the whole paragraph. Have a look at Help:Referencing for beginners, it is a good tutorial. --kelapstick(bainuu) 22:44, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Thank you! That's cool! So, do you pronounce it as 'theare' or 'theater'? Or is it just how it's spelled? ~~IBCPirates — Preceding undated comment added 19:11, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
- No, it's pronounced the same, just spelled differently, as is centre, labour, colour, etc. --kelapstick(bainuu) 22:21, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
Wow! That is really swag. I only have one main language, and that's English or American. I'm learning Italian though. One question. Why does your signature say, 'on the run' on it? IBCPirates (talk) 22:24, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
- I have an alternate account called Kelapstick on the Run (talk · contribs) for when I am editing on public computers, or on a mobile device. This is so I don't have access to my tools as an administrator. The justification is listed under security at Wikipedia:Sock puppetry#Legitimate uses, also it is also easy to click the wrong button when editing from a mobile device, so it is to prevent me from accidentally blocking someone or deleting a page. --kelapstick(bainuu) 22:33, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
Wait a minute....I thought alternate accounts weren't allowed! But I guess you have your reasons. Are you admin.? IBCPirates (talk) 22:35, 17 April 2014 (UTC)IBCPirates
- They are allowed under certain circumstances, such as this, and they have to be clearly disclosed. Yes I am an administrator. --kelapstick(bainuu) 22:37, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
So in my case, I have an iPhone 5C that I got this past Christmas because our computer hardly ever works and my wi-fi connection is terrible, and sometimes I make little errors now and then because of the tiny screen and terrible wi-fi, so when I do have reliable internet, could I get an alt? IBCPirates (talk) 22:39, 17 April 2014 (UTC)IBCPirates
- I would say it is unnecessary. I didn't create my alternate account until after I became an administrator, because the risk damage a compromised administrator's account can do is significantly higher than that of a regular user. The second reason I would advise against it is because you are not really editing Wikipeida, you are just talking to people, you only have four edits to actual article. All other things aside, I think you should edit more articles, rather than just talking to people, as Wikipedia is not Facebook.--kelapstick(bainuu) 22:58, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

I have to be sad because you reverted my edit on Rubin Carter. TheGGoose (talk) 18:00, 20 April 2014 (UTC)
- Hi TheGGoose, yes I did revert your edit on Rubin Carter. Let me explain why, the template {{Recent death}} is not just a tag that is supposed to get put on any article about a person whom has recently died. It is used when the circumstances surrounding their death are not immediately known, and information may develop rapidly, so they reader may not always be getting the correct information (or even the latest information). In fact the documentation for the tag explicitly says "Do not use it merely to tag the article of a recently deceased person, as that would defeat the template's purpose." Because of Carter's age, and cancer diagnosis, the circumstances surrounding the death are pretty self evident. Not a whole lot of new information about the death are really expected (although the article may be improved or expanded still). I have written an essay about this subject, maybe have a read of it, it is located at User:Kelapstick/Recent death. So I guess the moral of the story is, don't be sad, this sort of thing happens a lot. --kelapstick(bainuu) 18:07, 20 April 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the message. Hope that will help me feel well. TheGGoose (talk) 18:08, 20 April 2014 (UTC)

Greetings, hope you're well! I see most of the Sums of Mongolia are still unsourced one liners. Can you suggest some decent sources for population and to source them generally?♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:26, 30 April 2014 (UTC)
- Hmmm, that is a tricky one Dr. Blofeld, I haven't been in Mongolia in almost a year now. I am not sure where to find population data, let alone information that would be in English/Latin characters (so I would be able to read it), but I will take a look and see what I can find. I still have a lot of contacts there, so if I can't find anything, I will check with them. Cheers, --kelapstick(bainuu) 13:06, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for helping me copyedit that paragraph in IRC; for the longest time, I adamantly refused to use IRC, but now find it a valuable tool to help the encyclopedia, and you confirmed that with your assistance. Forgive me, for I didn't go see Amy Pond in person. For $50 (that's $400 Canadian), I could have had a signed photograph with Amy and me. I didn't know she was coming into town for a convention. Both my wife and I are catching up on the last 8 episodes and the new companion. We are hating the episodes. My wife doesn't want to watch the last two. They are boring. Removal of Ontario Libertarian Party from Ontario General Election, 2014
Brainstewie, Livefree.sw, and Mburnison are NOT the same person. I don't know who they are, but apparently they agree with me that purposefully removing election information from a wikipedia article would be considered vandalism. I will continue to revert the article and file a revert war/formal complain against Me-123567-Me for his sabotage of our candidate information.Mburnison (talk) 03:19, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

Tabletop Simulator wikipedia page
Hello,
I'm one of the developers for the game Tabletop Simulator (http://steamcommunity.com/app/286160/) and one of our community members created a Wikipedia page for us awhile back. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabletop_Simulator, which I think it shows you moved it, but is there a way to get it back to the old page instead of under Chris. We'd like it to be a separate entity if possible.

- Please see the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tabletop Simulator. --kelapstick(bainuu) 23:33, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
Please use this as my effort to meet the first criteria for deletion review by first contacting you before sending a report out as defined in the instructions: "1.discuss the matter with the closing administrator and try to resolve it with him or her first. If you and the admin cannot work out a satisfactory solution, only then should you bring the matter before Deletion review. See #Purpose." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_review
As you said yourself there was "While there are more people on the keep side" and it now has come to your attention that the developer though didnt share there insight at the time is also in favor of keeping, also your merits for deleting were as stated "lots of them are weak to very weak side" yet at the same time none of the deletes were regarded with this same system of judgement and some had very weak points, on top of that even if you do not include those user votes that were on the weak to very weak side, there was still more valid points for keeping then there was for deleting if you look back at how many non-weak keeps there was. In this light could you revert this so that we can handle this directly rather then going to Deletion review. Thank you very much for your time, Baryaj (talk) 10:35, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Baryaj I read the consensus at the discussion as it was probably too soon for the subject to have an article, and the sourcing was too weak. I userfied the article so we would not loose sourced content, as it is quite possible (but not guaranteed) that the subject may be notable in the future. That was a reasonable compromise, which would allow editors to improve the article whilst it is in userspace, and move it back when it up to snuff. Now, since there have been zero improvements on the article hosted at User:Chris walkerntm/Tabletop Simulator, I take it the problem is you disagree with my assessment, not that anything has changed. Well, if you disagree with my assessment there is nothing I can do about that. You are free to take my closure to Deletion Review if you would like, there are some fine people that hang out at Deletion Review. But I am not going to reverse my closure just because you ask me nicely. --kelapstick(bainuu) 11:14, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your time in providing a reply back with your stance on my feedback, I am sorry that I couldnt get you to reconsider but thank you for your openness in this matter. Baryaj (talk) 11:17, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

Amazing Race Edits
I'm confused as to why the edits I have made for the final leg keep getting reverted. After watching The Amazing Race S24E12, I wanted to contribute so others know the final outcome, in case they missed it. Need your help
Hi I have a problem with some edits been happening Bollywood pages . Two things which are; 1) Box office verdicts followed in Bollywood film pages refernced by boxofficeindia.com has been presently removed by few users. [7] 2) Info changes on release date for upcoming movies by addin schedule for inside info box. [8]
Can you please help me with this or could please let me know where i can address this matter at. Appreciate you help if you could sort this out as i can see this ends up having violations and edit warring. Daan0001 (talk) 16:49, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- Daan0001, I am not going to question the judgement on TheRedPenOfDoom on this matter, as they seem to be reasonable edits. For example, TRPoD removed the statement that boxofficeindia.com called it a "semi hit", well,
- What does that actually mean?
- Why should we care what Box Office India has to say?
- With regard to your second question, why wouldn't you want to have scheduled in the infobox? Is there a problem with that? 23 May has not occurred yet, so it is in fact scheduled. Also The film releases on 23 may being changed to The film is scheduled for release on 23 may is a correction to proper English. So there is really nothing to be done, if you think that the opinion of Box Office India should be included Bollywood articles in general, the place to bring that up is Wikipedia:WikiProject Film/Indian cinema task force and Wikipedia:WikiProject India, but in general if you take exception to another user's edits, it is best to bring them up with said user directly.--kelapstick(bainuu) 17:00, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hi really appreciate time and thought with regard.
As to box office india verdicts Hit normally equals to box office success and flop to box office unseccess and this has been followed for many years and even on featured article without any problem. Regard the schedule on info box then isn't this something should be take taken into as a standard as why only attack few pages ? That all I want to sort out. Daan0001 (talk) 17:20, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- But is it considered a reliable source? this is not really my area of expertise. --kelapstick(bainuu) 17:23, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- Yea Box Office India has always been considered as a reliable source. It's been used for box office performance in many many articles for many years and from good articles to featured. Please tell me where I can address this matter as I do understand this might be out of your interest and expertise and I would like to get an idea from an administrator so I know which to be followed In articles. - Hahha that's great. Enjoy rest of your weekend. Very sunny and nive here in London. Daan0001 (talk) 18:01, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- While Box Office India is considered a reliable source by the community for box office figures ( although up to about a year ago they freely admitted on their "about us" page that their numbers were just guesstimates because there is no actual formal reporting mechanism for Indian film industry), their "verdicts" are not reliable. if you check any of their yearly or quarterly compilations you will see that by their own box office estimate numbers they will have given lower "verdict" to films that they say had both higher nett and gross. And the terms they use are completely meaningless hooha: "semi hit"?, "mega blockbuster" ??? -- we are supposed to take that seriously as article content? - -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 18:20, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for the explanation TRPoD, and I completely agree with your assessment on the obscurity of the "verdicts" given. As Mentioned Daan0001, this is easily handled by asking the user in question from the start. --kelapstick(bainuu) 18:27, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- I've just gone through the 'about us' section and there's nothing meaning to be guesstimates rather been genuine. As I said earlier these verdicts are way of expressing the box office office performance and I don't see why would that affect having it on a page ? Daan0001 (talk) 18:36, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of Fractured Atlas
Hi,
I hope you can help. I'm confused as to why you deleted the Wikipedia page for Fractured Atlas. I realize it was a pretty lame stub of a page, but I don't think the reason you cited for deletion was appropriate.
You noted that the organization doesn't meet Wikipedia's criteria for relevance due to a lack of independent Google hits. I assume those would be press articles, etc? You have to get past the first page of search results (which are mostly links to pages directly associated with the organization), but then there's no shortage of press coverage. Here are the first few, in the order they show up in Google results:
There are more, but I would think the above list should be sufficient to demonstrate that there is legitimate public interest in the organization. It includes feature articles in some very major mainstream media (e.g., Wall Street Journal, NY Times, NPR) along with a number of local and industry publications.
Please let me know if I've misunderstood Wikipedia's criteria for relevance. Otherwise I would be very grateful if you could restore the page.
Many thanks, Adam — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adamthehutt (talk • contribs) 12:57, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- Actually I deleted it because the article did not say why FA is actually important enough to have an article on Wikipedia. Adamthehutt, it would have been helpful to have had some actual references, like the ones you present, in the actual article rather than just dumping them on my talk page, don't you think? If you would like I can restore the page, and transfer it to the Articles for Creation project, where you can work on it, improve it, and have a third party review it as per Wikipedia policies. --kelapstick(bainuu) 13:18, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- Got it, thanks. I've resisted editing the article myself since I'm associated with the organization. But your point is well taken. Can you please restore it and move it to Articles for Creation? RFPP decline of Dean Ambrose
You stated "Only one editor that would be affected by the page protection". I count several new editors and ip adresses making unhelpful edits over the past week e.g.: 1, 2, 3, etc. I don't mean to be rude, but are you sure you were looking at the right article history? Your powers of deduction are remarkable. Perhaps you should apply for a position at Scotland Yard. --kelapstick(bainuu) 16:15, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

- I am a bit tied up, I will have a look in a minute. --kelapstick(bainuu) 16:12, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- Is it because I made a mess of it? That is a good picture. Hafspajen (talk) 16:15, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I am no expert on the FPC process here, but it looks like you created the candidate page on the actual Wikipedia file name location, rather than on a subpage of FPC. I think you just created the page in the wrong location. --kelapstick(bainuu) 16:20, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
Blast. Can't that be reversed. Hafspajen (talk) 16:21, 21 May 2014 (UTC)- I can restore the content onto a subpage of yours if you wish, where you can do with it what you see fit. --kelapstick(bainuu) 16:22, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- But where is the original? Hafspajen (talk) 16:23, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- Crisco deleted it, because the file is located on Commons, we don't have a page for it here, unless there is a need to upload a local copy (for protection purposes, when it is displayed on the main page, usually). --kelapstick(bainuu) 16:24, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
EH? But we were using that in several articles. What does that mean we don't have it here? Before it was used in articles and it WAS HERE, if here means here. If not ... I don't understand a thing of it. Hafspajen (talk) 16:27, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- As noted on Crisco's talk page, the image isn't deleted, just the local description. I can restore what you created to User:Hafspajen/Temp, where you can copy it to the proper location, when you figure out where that is.--kelapstick(bainuu) 16:29, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- I don't understand a thing of this. did i created a file or the file WAS empty before? Hafspajen (talk) 16:36, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hafs, when an image is hosted on Commons, we do not keep a copy here. If you enter the file name on Wikipedia, it shows you the image from commons. That is what you are seeing in the image above, a file from Commons. If we are putting a picture on the main page, we upload a version of that image to Wikipedia, so we can protect it to prevent vandalism. What you did was create the featured picture nomination at the file name of the image, rather than on a subpage of Featured Picture Candidates. I can restore what you wrote, and move it to a temporary sub page of yours, so you can recreate it in the correct location. All you did was create the page in the wrong location. --kelapstick(bainuu) 16:40, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- Oh, there it is. Hafspajen (talk) 16:46, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- OK, nomination looks alright. [10]. Can i use Usertemp to do things whit it? Park things temporailly and so? Hafspajen (talk) 16:58, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, you can park things, within reason, in your userspace. In particular to work on them. I create almost all my articles in userspace and move them afterwards. Easier that way. Of course you cannot host attack pages, copyright violations, your favourite version of an article, etc., but the permission of what you keep there is pretty liberal. All you have to do to delete it is tag it with {{db-user}} and an admin will come along and delete or, or you can ask one. --kelapstick(bainuu) 17:07, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
OK. And this Bishonen self requested pocket thing? Where you just have fun? User:Bishzilla/Self-requested pocketingsHafspajen (talk) 17:11, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- For self requested blocks. --kelapstick(bainuu) 17:32, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hm. I want to keep this User:Hafspajen/Temp, to do work, and have a other one for fun? Or I must block myself for that (whatewer that means?) Haffy (talk) 18:08, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- You can create another subpage if you like, and you can have them deleted (or not) at your leisure, a self requested block is sort of an enforced wikibreak. I tend to find it is handy to delete them regularly, to avoid clogged histories. I use User:Kelapstick/Workshop for tinkering around. Most of my common subpages are on the template at the bottom of my userpage. --kelapstick(bainuu) 18:13, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- Those files are at commons, nothing we can do here Hafs. --kelapstick(bainuu) 17:42, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- Asked Crisco to fix that. Hafspajen (talk) 22:24, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi Kelapstick,
I've responded to your post at WP:RfD. The redirects were created by a sockpuppet.
I hope you enjoy your holiday. I am in Hungary but my ex-partner lived in Hamilton, Ontario: and the winters there are cold then just about this time one has four months or so of glorious weather. So I hope the weather for it is a bit nicer than at the airport in the picture!
It's just by way of notification in case you want to respond: you don't have to. Enjoy your holiday! (Vacation?) Have a drink on me, Hungarian: egesegedra, your good health. Si Trew (talk) 10:34, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hello Simon! Hamilton you say, well here is my stock Hamilton joke:
- Q' Where is the dirtiest place you have ever kissed your girlfriend/boyfriend?
- A Hamilton!
- Q' Where is the dirtiest place you have ever kissed your girlfriend/boyfriend?
- I have another one that is a little more off color. I will save it for later. I did see that the redirects were created by a blocked/banned user (don't know the circumstances exactly) but I think it is best to let it play out. There are other issues to deal with. Like the use of the firm as a source. Which I have posted at RS/N, and the actual inclusion of that "term". It is quite common. Weather looks nice. I will be going to the beach during my time in Nova Scotia. Cheers, kelapstick(on the run) 10:43, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
Mushroom's Patience cancellation
Hi Kelapstick, honestly i can't understand why the subject was cancelled. This subject is an italian/austrian band that sell music and play gigs in lands where the main language is english. can you explain, please, what i have wrong? thank you so much regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dcmonk (talk • contribs) 07:24, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- The article did not give a credible indication of importance, simply being an Italian/Austrian band in an English area does not cut the mustard. --kelapstick(bainuu) 13:20, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

Hafspajen (talk) 15:36, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
- JUST FOR FUN: this Zen riddle, or Koan, is to help the student understand the idea of a static. In meditation one seeks to turn off the mind, separate from the body, and simply 'be' as a spiritual being.
- In terms of the physical universe, the spiritual being is a complete nothingness - no form, no sound, etc. (though in actuality it is everything). So, the sound of one hand clapping would be a complete nothingness, which the Zen student would need to experience and grasp in order the reach a spiritual everythingness. Enlightenment refers to a unique experience which wholly transforms the enlightened individual from its opposite, after destroying the disturbances of the mind, and attaining concentration of the mind, literally means "to have woken up and understood" and refers to the particular form of understanding or knowledge "seeing into one's true nature.", means "seeing", the true "nature" or "essence" of thigs. Hafspajen (talk) 15:36, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
- NOW, if anyone is proned to Enlightenment they will now get it, by you unanswerable question or meaningless statement. Hafspajen (talk) 15:39, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

Absenteeism
Can you explain your actions on this page? The person know a Stuey has repeatedly given no valid reason for removing viable additions to this page. In fact he has a history of denying further information from a variety of sources while allowing a commercial company link from Australia to remain. Explain please why the link provided is somehow not relevant to the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wonder51 (talk • contribs) 13:54, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- I'd rather not. There was an edit war on the page, so I protected it to prevent further disruption. Take it to the talk page if you have an issue, that is what it's for. --kelapstick(bainuu) 13:58, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

- I have no idea where RoyalBlueStuey lives, or what he or she is doing. Maybe at work, or sleeping (perhaps it is the middle of the night). I would like to think that RoyalBlueStuey is having ice cream with someone special, it's the romantic in me. No response in four hours doesn't mean you are being ignored.--kelapstick(bainuu) 20:10, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

If you looked you would see Stuey's timestamps suggests he is well aware of the request that he defend his actions. I will impart some information to you. Did you know... During WW2 absenteeism was rampant amongst Rosie the riveter types. There also is only one known successful tactic to combat the problem in the US. During the cold war, it was used as a form of social protest by Soviet bloc "residents", it is also known that North Koreans practice frequently. Additionally, absenteeism can be broken into public union and private sector categories with the public unions having 100%-400% higher rates. In a country by country survey, the public vs private debate varies with Ireland having one the highest disparities. Canada on the other hand has one of the lowest... As you can tell, I know a little about the subject for which Stuey is in the way of me providing on a page listed as a "C" with mid level importance. All of the facts above can be cited easily with links and references. Wonder51 (talk) 21:34, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- If you are an expert in this topic then add the information to the article and add citation references rather than just adding an External Link. Wikipedia works by people taking what the know (and can prove) and adding it to the articles then using websites as reference.
- Think of it like a conference on Absenteeism...Lots of people are having a discussion on the topic and using the conference to learn about Absenteeism. You burst into the room and say "Hey everyone, I know loads about this...come to my office and I'll tell you about it". You haven't added anything to the conference, you've just promoted your own office. RoyalBlueStuey (talk) 09:12, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
I am not going to look, I have no history with the article, and I am going on holidays in one hour. I am not going to get involved with a content dispute on the subject. --kelapstick(bainuu) 21:36, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
Isotretinoin
Thanks for the intervention. Not sure about next step. Should I withdraw the post to the Admin incident page or will it be discussed there anyway? I won't bore you with further elaborations of my side of this but we seem to be at an impasse over there which I suspect the passage of time will not be sufficient to solve. - Formerly 98 As there is really no other administrative action required, and since it is a content dispute AN will probably just direct you to one of the other noticeboards, not sure which one though, either dispute resolution or reliable source is my guess.--kelapstick(bainuu) 15:54, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
