A barnstar for you!
The Original Barnstar | |
Thanks for dropping me a line about Jackson Peebles. Your empathy and consideration is greatly appreciated. Drmies (talk) 18:42, 20 November 2013 (UTC) |
- Thank you for the barnstar, Drmies. Of course I would trade every barnstar I've ever been given if it could undo the tragedy, but I suppose it cannot. Prayers with the family. Go Phightins! 20:06, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
- I am very saddened and somewhat angry with myself for not having gotten to know this young man while I had a chance. I spent most of my life less than 10 miles away from him and I never knew we had that in common. He did great things while he was here, and I hope I can pick up some of what he has done and help. I will be redoubling my efforts at the Teahouse in his memory. If you have any specific ideas of what else I can do in his memory, drop me an email. It is still the same. I used to be Gtwfan52. Idea
What would you think if we awarded Jackson the next WER/Eddy award? I sense that Wikipedia was very important to him and awarding him would convey to his family and loved ones how important he was to this/our internet community. I'm just going with my gut and I haven't considered any negative response. I don't know. What do you think? ```Buster Seven Talk 00:06, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
- Like John from Idegon (talk) 01:24, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
- I think that's a fine idea. Go Phightins! 02:11, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
I have started a rough draft at Wikipedia:WikiProject Editor Retention/Editor of the Week/Accepted nominations. Please feel free to assist and rewrite. The quote is from Jackson's blog: it seems to embody the type of person he was. If you go to the talk page at his Video and Interactive Tutorial Project you can sense his wonderful nature and determination. Its full of "This will be done", "I'll make sure to do this", "I'll get on that." Reading about his real life accomplishments truly adds to the sadness of his passing. This was a very special young man and Wikipedian. We could easily create a "wall of words" award just trying to capture his humanity and spirit. I don't want to over do it. I wonder if we should "lift" some of Ocaasi's comments. We have a few days...```Buster Seven Talk 08:07, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
- True; I think what you have is good ... we could flesh it out to be about the length of other nominations. I would say we should present it as from the EotW project. Also, we should double check with Khazar2 that he does not mind his nominees being held back for one more week for this posthumous award. If he does, we can simply award two. Go Phightins! 11:33, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
- Not at all. This is a great idea; thanks to you guys for putting it together. -- Khazar2 (talk) 12:48, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

- I think this will be a very fitting tribute. AutomaticStrikeout (₵) 00:20, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
- I fully support this. I am still a little taken aback by his passing.--Mark Miller (talk) 05:17, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you all for this award from EotW. I wasn't aware of the sad news then, though I would have wanted to give him a fitting tribute myself. Thank you for atleast getting it done from EotW. TheOriginalSoni (talk) 00:27, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
Userbox for Jackson
We usually display the userbox a day or two after the "Eddy" gets presented. Please see Template:WikiProject Editor Retention/Editor of the Week/Project main page/sandbox for vetting. ```Buster Seven Talk 16:49, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Signpost "In the Media"
Hello there. I understand you were one of the writers for the Signpost section "In the Media". I would love to pick your brain to get a handle on the two last authors direction in order to best decide where to go from there. You can e-mail me, respond here or start a new thread on my talk page. Thanks.--Mark Miller (talk) 03:53, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
Hi Go Phightins!, I have seen your articles in 'In the Media' for the Signpost, and am joining up. I was wondering if you had any tips on how to write posts, e.g. a certain format? Thanks in advance, Matty.007 19:06, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Mark Miller and Matty.007. If you would send me an email here, that would be preferable. ITM is drafted in a Google Doc to which you will need access. I am also going to ping ITM colleagues Jayen466, Keilana, and Andrewman327. To all ITMers: I suggest a calendar that rotates the responsibility of ITM amongst us - of course we sometimes all will not be able to work on it every week, but if we have a rough idea of who is heading up what issue, it could facilitate better communication, which seems to be somewhat of a hindrance. Thanks Mark and Matty for your willingness to help! Go Phightins! 22:40, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
- E-mailing you!--Mark Miller (talk) 02:09, 26 November 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for November 29
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2013 Philadelphia Eagles season, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Alfred Morris and Victor Cruz (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I hereby award The Fightin' PhilStar to Go Phightins! for his utmost love for the Philadelphia Phillies WikiProject. - Thank you so much! I am frankly laughing right now, as I was thinking about heading over to your talk page and posting a message about my happiness for finding another editor with such great aptitude for baseball articles. Let me know if you would ever like to collaborate, and this is quite possibly my favorite barnstar yet! Go Phightins! 04:15, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
- I'm actually considering a current project where I'm going to expand a stub and try to get it to be a FA. I was thinking maybe doing it on a baseball article, more specifically a Phillies article. Are you interested? If so, do you have a specific article you wanna expand? Newyorkadam (talk) 12:16, 5 December 2013 (UTC)Newyorkadam
