I always come at you with the weird ones, don't I...

I'm cleaning up the list of stations in Texas - only California left after this, and then the entire county will be clean - and I came across KPBD. I've edited it out of the list, as it's not currently licensed, but there is an article for it. I can't see any evidence that it changed to a different call sign, and I can't find anything in a Google search that isn't a mirror/crawl of the article here. Do you have any other sources that might help figure out what happened to it? Mlaffs (talk) 01:05, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

(talk page stalker): I am looking as I am typing this and there is an application for KPBE (on 89.3) but it is for Brownwood, Texas under the ownership of Paulino Bernal Evangelism. There is, though, a Vacant Allotment Record for this station in Big Spring, Texas. A check of records for "Paulino Bernal Evangelism" on RecNet shows that there aren't any licenses or applications for Paulino Bernal Evangelism in Big Spring. Digging in the archives, it seems the license was cancelled by the FCC for not being on the air for one year after an STA request. There's your answer. - NeutralhomerTalk01:30, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
Looking further, this license was cancelled back on Janaury 26, 2006 per this. I can't find evidence the station was ever on the air. - NeutralhomerTalk01:32, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
That's when the license was granted, not cancelled. The station did operate for a few years. - Dravecky (talk) 07:47, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
Ah, I was going by the application list on the FCC page on that, so my goof. :) - NeutralhomerTalk20:15, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
Per this, the call sign was assigned on May 24, 2005, and deleted from the database on June 7, 2011. (License cancellation is often made retroactively to the "appropriate" date months or years after the fact.) I'll dig around a bit, see if I can improve it any. - Dravecky (talk) 05:36, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
Really going to have to figure out how you guys are searching the FCC's site different than I am - I don't get any of the returns you both seem to be turning up. Mlaffs (talk) 06:08, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
By that magical FCC Facility ID number instead of by call sign. This FCC resource will be your new best friend. Oh, and I've done a significant overhaul of KPBD which apparently operated from June 2005 through August 2008, returned to the air for a few hours in May 2009, then went away forever. Ah, late-1980s deregulation, how I continue to curse thee. - Dravecky (talk) 06:53, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
Hoo boy. Taking a quick look around the various stations owned by Paulino Bernal and his son has me concerned. The La Nueva Radio Cristiana website is gone and several other stations are apparently off the air waiting for the FCC to take notice. Given their apparent inability to file timely paperwork, this is one pair of licensees headed for real trouble. - Dravecky (talk) 07:42, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
Ooh, I'll bookmark that link. And deregulation? Is this why I keep seeing letters from the FCC that tell licensees that they didn't file their renewal 8 years ago, so NOW their license is being cancelled? That's just mind-blowing... Mlaffs (talk) 22:33, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
Ah, the CDBS application search page. I love that site since I found it. :) - NeutralhomerTalk20:17, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for tidying up the categories on Aagje Vanwalleghem. I can see I didn't get it quite right. LynwoodF (talk) 11:38, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Always happy to help. - Dravecky (talk) 11:47, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

WCRL

See, now I see "Assignment of License Approved" in the daily Broadcast Actions report, and I figure that's the end of the story. This things I'm continuously learning - I've probably made this exact same mistake a few other times over the last couple of weeks. I'll have to go back and check. Mlaffs (talk) 00:03, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Yep, 21 edits this afternoon for license assignments, and all but 2 of them had to be rolled back. Damn... Mlaffs (talk) 00:39, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
No worries. It's something to keep an eye on. Wow, this means the family is selling WCRL after more than 50 years. - Dravecky (talk) 02:05, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
Actually, WCRL is just going from a father to a son, still in the family. :) - NeutralhomerTalk02:11, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
Luther Bentley III is father to Sims and/or McAlpine? I'll have to read that filing again. - Dravecky (talk) 02:24, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
Actually I misread that and missed the part about the Sims/McAlpine part. My goof. That's what I get for not reading things properly. :) - NeutralhomerTalk06:43, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
