constructive editing
Now I need to ask you to reconsider the way you contribute to Wikipedia. If your sole contribution to my edits continue to consist of negative reverts only, please direct your attention elsewhere. Otherwise you are welcome to actually improve upon the work of others, where "improvement" means building upon that work, making it better, taking steps forward. So far you've only acted as a gatekeeper, blocking entries you deem not good enough. You're wasting my time here, Bkonrad. If you find something wrong with my final attempt to contribute to the Surge (disambiguation) article, for the love of the gods go ahead and fix it, but do not just give it a failing grade and revert it. Thank you. CapnZapp (talk) 17:03, 4 March 2017 (UTC)
- I'm sorry you're apparent unfamiliarity with WP:DISAMBIGUATION and WP:MOSDAB leads you to unfairly label my edits as unconstructive. It is not my responsibility to fix the entry you want to add. The rules are fairly simple. There needs to be an existing article that supports the claimed usage. Otherwise, there is nothing to disambiguate within the context of Wikipedia. older ≠ wiser 18:52, 4 March 2017 (UTC)
- @CapnZapp:, I'm not sure why you are having such problem comprehending. If you want to include the entry, you basically have two options: 1) find an existing article that has relevant content regarding the claimed usage of the term "surge" (or add some reliably sourced content to an existing article) or 2) create reliably sourced stub with the content. older ≠ wiser 12:13, 5 March 2017 (UTC)
Autoincorrect
Love your edit summary. (you don't need the diff but here it is)
Many years ago I worked on artificial intelligence (as a user not as an expert). It was devastatingly effective, we reduced a field audit team from 200 bods to 20 and tripled their effectiveness at the same time. But I did get to work with a real expert.
He told me Unfortunately, Andy, the closer we get to real artificial intelligence, the closer we also get to artificial stupidity.
We're getting terrifyingly close... (;-> Andrewa (talk) 19:48, 5 March 2017 (UTC)
Maxine (song)
Hi There, I am not sure why you are reverting the work I've just done on "Maxine (song)". It is by Sharon O'Neill but as there are currently no other notable songs by that name, the shortened "Maxine (song)" is sufficient and doesn't require the (Sharon O'Neill song) added. Thanks Tobyjamesaus (talk) 11:20, 10 March 2017 (UTC)
- There are several songs by that title. The benefits from receptions, but some the other songs are not obscure. older ≠ wiser 11:30, 10 March 2017 (UTC)
Please stop editwarring at TNA and MIM. I have started discussions on both Talk pages. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 07:03, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you for your participation in discussion rather than edit warring. You appear to be a very experienced editor who makes a useful contribution to making Wikipedia a better encyclopedia and for that you have my thanks and I am sure that of many others. However, please be careful when you revert the good-faith edits of other editors, and make sure that you cite appropriate WP policy rather than just doing it just because you think it's better. That way, you will encourage (and teach) other editors (like me) to make WP better, rather than putting us off by behaviour that I have interpreted as curt, petty and bullying (if that was not your intention then it is useful for you to know that that's how it comes across). I will give you the benefit of the doubt that your last edit to TNA actually makes the page more useful, and policy-compliant, rather than just enables you to have the last word. Deleting definition on Beauregard
All Wikipedia articles should start with a definition. You deleted the definition from the Beauregard article - I have reverted that. From WP:DICT: "Both dictionaries and encyclopedias contain definitions. Encyclopedia articles should begin with a good definition and description". Thue (talk) 14:05, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
- Disambiguation pages are navigational aides, not articles. MOS:WTLINK and WP:DABDIC. older ≠ wiser 14:42, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
Unprintworthy?
You made this edit to "FDR". You marked it as "unprintworthy". Why? -Mr. Guye (talk) 21:35, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
- All I did was revert back to what was there before a new editor changed it into a disambiguation page. older ≠ wiser 22:46, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi Bkonrad, yes, I've moved Robert Spurr (rugby league, born 1949) to allow for a Robert Spurr who played rugby for Batley at the end of the 19th-century, and the beginning of the 20th-century. Best regards. DynamoDegsy (talk) 19:04, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
removing my edit
greetings, Bkonrad I see you have undone my edit at ACA (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=ACA&type=revision&diff=762061146&oldid=762029415), citing "rm non-article entry". I do agree it is a non-article entry, but ... please enlighten me : do all entries have to be "article entries" ?? Interestingly enough, the same page includes other non-article entries (such as Associate Chartered Accountant (twice), Alerting Communicators of America, Agile Combat Aircraft), which no one seems to be bothered about. Is there a rule about this that I don't know? The Australasian Corrosion Association is a well-established, well-known organization in Australia and New Zealand. It is surprising that there is nno page for it. One of these days, I might get to it and create a page, but until then ...?????? Yours, Kamran the Great (talk) 16:04, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) @Kamran the Great: The difference between your ACA and, for example, "Agile Combat Aircraft" is that the latter includes a blue link to an English Wikipedia article which tells the reader something about the topic. See MOS:DABENTRY, which says
Apply the following rules when constructing entries: .... Include exactly one navigable (blue) link to efficiently guide readers to the most relevant article for that use of the ambiguous term.
As the Australian Corrosion Association does not appear to be mentioned in any existing article, there's nowhere for a blue link to go, so a valid disambiguation page entry can't be made. Dab pages are not just a list of every meaning of a term or an abbreviation, but a guide to information which can be found in the encyclopedia. I hope that makes sense. There's a lot to learn about editing Wikipedia, especially perhaps dab pages, but it's an interesting journey! PamD 16:16, 13 April 2017 (UTC)- thanks, @PamD:; you are quite right in assuming that I have "a lot to learn"! As I had suggested, I now have a bottle of red from Minervois next to me, and am creating the page, even as we "speak"... it is long overdue. Please, do have a look later and "prettify" the page when created ;-). Regards, Kamran the Great (talk) 16:30, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Kamran the Great: Hmm, it might be safer to keep the bottle to celebrate creation of a nice-looking little article with enough reliable independent sources to survive. Editing is tricky enough when sober! But have fun. I've added Australian Corrosion Association to my watchlist in case I can help out with it once the article exists! PamD 16:55, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
- @PamD:; the article now exists. your help will be much appreciated, as this is my first created article on Wikipedia (sober or otherwise)! It's, obviously, a start, and can only improve from here on. Thanks, and have a great day, Kamran the Great (talk) 16:58, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
- @PamD:; please note : it is not the AUSTRALIAN, but rather the AUSTRALASIAN Corrosion Association. Thank you again, and in advance, for your help. Regards, Kamran the Great (talk) 17:00, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Kamran the Great:: Have had a look at Australasian Corrosion Association, noting the correct title! Where are the "reliable independent sources"? The article is likely to be deleted until you or someone else can provide these, which are Wikipedia's basic requirement for "Notability". I see another editor has already tagged it as lacking sources. Have tweaked the article a bit, added categories, added talk page project banners - though not sure whether to label this for "Oceania" or for "Australia" plus "NZ". PamD 20:48, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

User not listening to notices
Hello Bkonrad, thank you for reverting an undiscussed (and probably unwarranted) move of "Peter Griffin" to "Peter Griffin (Family Guy character)". However, I don't think the user (MattWorks) is listening to talk page notices, and might be purposefully disregarding them (which would violate WP:IDHT). I've already left the user messages here, which doesn't seem to have had much (if any) effect so far. Given your extensive DAB-related work, perhaps you could help this user change his/her behavior. - MOS:DABSEEALSO:
In the "See also" section of a disambiguation page, an intentional link to another disambiguation page that does not contain "(disambiguation)" in the title should be written as [[Foo (disambiguation)]]. When appropriate, place easily confused terms in a hatnote.]]
And also WP:INTDABLINK. older ≠ wiser 14:14, 26 April 2017 (UTC)- I wasn’t aware of this. Thank you. Papí • talk 14:15, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
Baskets
I see that you deleted my edit. Don't you think that it should at least be mentioned, that Baskets means a lot more than just the plural of Basket? thanks Stephreef (talk) 14:36, 27 April 2017 (UTC)
- Basket is almost certainly the primary topic for the plural as well as for the singular. The existing basket (disambiguation) covers both plural and singular ambiguities. I added the basketball teams to that page. older ≠ wiser 14:39, 27 April 2017 (UTC)
