Hello, Ramadan Kareem to you. please assist me in moving this, this and this to Talk:Adesua Etomi. I am not sure I know the right way of moving discussions to article talkpage. Is it just by cutting and pasting, then putting a notification that it was moved from a particular location? The reason I think it has become necessary is that I have experienced at least three different editors that are changing her "supposed" birthname to her WP:COMMONNAME, I don't have a strong case regarding the issue but I just want to organize the trail of events, as I feel more editors will continue to make the change, whether or not they are sockpuppets is a case for another day. Regards. HandsomeBoy (talk) 19:24, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hi @HandsomeBoy: Thanks for greetings. Actually these discussions cannot be moved as they're 3 distinct threads on 3 different user talkpages. Of course, only pages can be moved, thread of discussions can only be copied or transcluded. However, I understand the intention behind this. So the usual way I see it done is for you to create talk subpage, likely to be named: Talk:Adesua Etomi/naming issue and copy all these discussions to there. Then make a link from the talkpage to that subpage, so that whoever visits the talkpage can read about the issue. I can't immediately find the page where I saw this, but once I see it I will share with you. Hope you understand. –Ammarpad (talk) 19:57, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply, what I want to do is something similar to what Versace did here. Did he just copy and paste? HandsomeBoy (talk) 20:02, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
- YES. It is copy-paste. Although his edit summary says "Moved" it doesn't mean "page-move." Even Administrators can only move entire page not threads. Also read the documentation of the template he used in the discussion destination, {{Moved discussion from}} –Ammarpad (talk) 20:13, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks. Thats addresses the issue. I'll go through the documentation then do the moving. HandsomeBoy (talk) 23:15, 15 May 2018 (UTC)

Categorisation of BLPs
Hi. Thanks for your categorisations of Indian politician stubs, but if you're only adding Category:Living people to an uncategorized new BLP, then please also add an {{Improve categories}} template, so other editors can see them and add the additional categories needed. Thanks again! The Mighty Glen (talk) 10:10, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
- @The Mighty Glen: I can't remember in recent days where I add such categories. Also where was it documented that "if you add one category you must add {{improve categories}} "? –Ammarpad (talk) 10:15, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
- There was Rameshwar Mahto, and Khurshid Mohsin, and Prem Chandra Mishra, for example. It's not a rule that you must add more an improve cats template on a BLP with only "Living people" as a category, but don't you agree that it makes sense to do so? Thanks, The Mighty Glen (talk) 10:24, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Cryptotutorials/sandbox Xuez (cryptocurrency)
Hi Ammarpad. The article was not promotional it was factual. I needed more time to edit and add references etc. It was a work in progress.
I have looked at the wiki for BTC and for DASH and don't see much difference to the content in those compared to the content I was listing for the Xuez (cryptocurrency).
Please explain your actions further and advise and assist rather than delete and terminate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cryptotutorials (talk • contribs) 22:26, 20 May 2018 (UTC)
Socio-Historical Examination of Religion and Ministry Academic Journal
Hi, Ammarpad. I very much appreciate your fight against "vanity contents and corporate advertising." I have undated the Wikipedia article for the Socio-Historical Examination of Religion and Ministry, which was flagged for a speedy deletion. I believe I removed everything that could be construed as "promotional." Let me know what you think of the changes and if you have any other suggestions. Thanks! NPR Newsletter No.11 25 May 2018
ACTRIAL:
- WP:ACREQ has been implemented. The flow at the feed has dropped back to the levels during the trial. However, the backlog is on the rise again so please consider reviewing a few extra articles each day; a backlog approaching 5,000 is still far too high. An effort is also needed to ensure that older unsuitable older pages at the back of the queue do not get automatically indexed for Google.
Deletion tags
- Do bear in mind that articles in the feed showing the trash can icon may have been tagged by inexperienced or non NPR rights holders. They require your further verification.
Backlog drive:
- A backlog drive will take place from 10 through 20 June. Check out our talk page at WT:NPR for more details. NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.
Editathons
- There will be a large increase in the number of editathons in June. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.
Paid editing - new policy
- Now that ACTRIAL is ACREQ, please be sure to look for tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary. There is a new global WMF policy that requires paid editors to connect to their adverts.
Subject-specific notability guidelines
- The box at the right contains each of the subject-specific notability guidelines, please review any that are relevant BEFORE nominating an article for deletion.
- Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves with the new version of the notability guidelines for organisations and companies.
Not English
- A common issue: Pages not in English or poor, unattributed machine translations should not reside in main space even if they are stubs. Please ensure you are familiar with WP:NPPNE. Check in Google for the language and content, tag as required, then move to draft if they do have potential.
News
- Development is underway by the WMF on upgrades to the New Pages Feed, in particular ORES features that will help to identify COPYVIOs, and more granular options for selecting articles to review.
- The next issue of The Signpost has been published. The newspaper is one of the best ways to stay up to date with news and new developments. between our newsletters.

Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- You can now use global preferences on most wikis. This means you can set preferences for all wikis at the same time. Before this you had to change them on each individual wiki. Global preferences will come to the Wikipedias later this week. [1][2]
- It is now easier for blocked mobile users to see why they were blocked. [3]
- Wikidata now supports lexicographical data. This helps describe words.
- There is now a checkbox on Special:ListUsers to let you see only users in temporary user groups. [4]
- Some rare invisible Unicode characters have recently been banned from page titles. This includes soft hyphens (U+00AD) and left-to-right (U+2066) and right-to-left (U+2067) isolate markers. Existing pages with these characters will soon be moved by a script. [5]
- There's a new Wikimedia Foundation team to support the Wikimedia technical communities. It's called the Technical Engagement team. Most of the team members did similar work in other teams before this. [6]
Problems
- Some translatable pages are showing old translations instead of latest ones. The cause of this issue has been fixed. We will update all pages automatically to show the latest translations. [7]
Changes later this week
- There will be a new special page named PasswordPolicies. This page gives information about the password rules for each user group on that wiki. [8]
- A new way to see moved paragraphs in diffs is coming to most wikis. This is to make it easier to find the moved paragraphs and the changes in them. [9]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 29 May. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 30 May. It will be on all wikis from 31 May (calendar).
- Wikis can enable Citoid to provide automatic reference look-up in the visual editor and the 2017 wikitext editor. This is complex. The tool will now disable itself if the configuration isn't correct. It has warned about this in the JavaScript console since February. Check that your wiki is configured correctly. You can ask for help if you need it. [10]
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the Editing team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 29 May at 18:30 (UTC). See how to join.
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 30 May at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- Content Translation drafts which have not been updated in over a year will be removed. This allows other users to translate those articles. [11]
- A survey is collecting information on what users think about how Wikimedia wiki pages are loaded. This information could be used in future development. [12]
- Some wikis will switch to use the Remex parsing library. This is to replace Tidy. It will happen on 30 May and 13 June. Wikis with fewer than 100 linter issues in the main namespace in all high-priority linter categories will switch. This includes Wikidata. Tidy will probably be removed on all wikis in the first week of July. [13][14]

University of Calicut article
I disagree with the move of this article. The School of Drama and Fine Arts is a department of the university and should be identified as such. There are schools of Drama at many universities all over the world and using just the shortened name is generic and ambiguous. The two working refs in the article both include University of Calicut prominently. This is not the common name. Please move this back. MB 16:45, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hello @MB: actually the tone of your request is implying that I moved the article on my on volition. I did not, and you're well aware of this. You can follow the same technical procedure to ask for renaming the page. But when doing so, don't forget the article was created at stable "School of Drama and Fine Arts" title in 2008 and remained so for 8 years before you unilateraly moved it in 2016. I don't have opinion on either names and it doesn't matter to me which is retained, but just setting the record straight. –Ammarpad (talk) 17:11, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry if the tone sounded off. I was just trying to indicate this was moved as a "non-controversial technical move" which I think it is misleading. Yes I moved it in 2016 and there was no objection at the time and hence no revert/discuss. But now since there are differing opinions I think there should have been a discussion first before taking action. MB 19:30, 29 May 2018 (UTC)

Article on Paani Foundation
Hello, I believe you have placed a notability tag on this article. Just want to let you know that I had created it a few days ago and I plan to expand it using reliable sources, while adhering to encyclopedic guidelines. You are welcome to contribute too if you would like to :) - Electronz (talk) 12:13, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
- Just to let you know, I have removed the notability template now after adding several citations from reliable sources. You are welcome to take a look. Thanks. - Electronz (talk) 14:10, 24 May 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for improving it. –Ammarpad (talk) 15:08, 3 June 2018 (UTC)
Lase laze
Laze is sometimes misspelled as lase. Suppose a user searches for lase when she/he means laze. What would be the best way to help the user find laze? Comfr (talk) 16:14, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Comfr: No. We don't create disambiguation page solely with assumed misspellings, else we will create million of useless pages. Unless, you can provide reliable sources that asserts Laze can be substituted with Lase, then disambiguation page cannot be created for that. –Ammarpad (talk) 16:19, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
- Actually, they are more than misspellings; according to the Wikitionary entry for laze, they are homophones. Someone hearing the word "laze" in a newscast about Hawaii volcano might look for "lase" in wikipedia. I wanted to help readers find what they were looking for. Comfr (talk) 01:53, 2 June 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for trying to help. But there are policies and guidelines on how we can help, and we ought to do so within that remit. So pease review the guideline for creating disambiguation pages: WP:DISAMBIGUATION first. Thank you. –Ammarpad (talk) 13:52, 3 June 2018 (UTC)
- I turned to more experienced editors at the Teahouse, and following their suggestion, I added {{Redirect}} to Laser. Thanks for reviewing my work, and for explaining policies to me. Comfr (talk) 03:47, 4 June 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks also for directing me to the disambiguation guidelines. The guideline shows when a hatnote should be used, instead of a disambiguation page. I admit that I felt uncomfortable when I created a disambiguation page for only one item. Thanks for all the other work you are doing for Wikipedia. Comfr (talk) 05:50, 4 June 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you. Happy editing. –Ammarpad (talk) 07:28, 4 June 2018 (UTC)

Recent changes
- The MonoBook skin has been optimised for mobile devices. It now looks different. [15]
- Planet Wikimedia collects blogs about Wikimedia. It will now use the Rawdog feed aggregator to do this instead of Planet. [16][17]
- Redirect links in Special:WhatLinksHere now link to the original page and not the target page. This was done earlier and changed the used messages on some pages. This was a problem for wikis that customized the message. A new change fixed this by using the old messages with one more parameter for customization. Wikis that already changed their customized messages will have to move the customization back again. [18]
Problems
- You will not be able to edit some wikis between 06:00 and 06:30 UTC on 13 June. You can see if your wiki is one of them.
- MassMessage did not work 24–28 May. This is also why last week's Tech News was late. [19]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 5 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 6 June. It will be on all wikis from 7 June (calendar).

June 2018 GOCE newsletter
Guild of Copy Editors June 2018 News
Welcome to the June 2018 GOCE newsletter, in which you will find Guild updates since the February edition. Progress continues to be made on the copyediting backlog, which has been reduced to 7 months and reached a new all-time low. Requests continue to be handled efficiently this year, with 272 completed by the end of May (an average completion time of 10.5 days). Fewer than 10% of these waited longer than 20 days, and the longest wait time was 29 days. Wikipedia in general, and the Guild in particular, experienced a deep loss with the death on 20 March of Corinne. Corinne (a GOCE coordinator since 1 July 2016) was a tireless aide on the requests page, and her peerless copyediting is a part of innumerable GAs and FAs. Her good cheer, courtesy and tact are very much missed. March drive: The goal was to remove June, July and August 2017 from our backlog and all February 2018 Requests (a total of 219 articles). This drive was an outstanding success, and by the end of the month all but eight of these articles were cleared. Of the 33 editors who signed up, 19 recorded 277 copy edits (425,758 words). April blitz: This one-week copy-editing blitz ran from 15 through 21 April, focusing on Requests and the last eight articles tagged in August 2017. At the end of the week there were only 17 pending requests, with none older than 17 days. Of the nine editors who signed up, eight editors completed 22 copy edits (62,412 words). May drive: We set out to remove September, October and November 2017 from our backlog and all April 2018 Requests (a total of 298 articles). There was great success this month with the backlog more than halved from 1,449 articles at the beginning of the month to a record low of 716 articles. Officially, of the 20 who signed up, 15 editors recorded 151 copy edits (248,813 words). Coordinator elections: It's election time again. Nominations for Guild coordinators (who will serve a six-month term for the second half of 2018) have begun, and will close at 23:59 UTC on 15 June. All Wikipedia editors in good standing are eligible, and self-nominations are encouraged. Voting will take place between 00:01 UTC on 16 June and 23:59 UTC on 30 June. June blitz: Stay tuned for this one-week copy-editing blitz, which will take place in mid-June. Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators: Corinne, Jonesey95, Miniapolis, Reidgreg and Tdslk. To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list.

Article about Ryoma Baba. The spell is wrong as a lot of people. Check his official site.
Dear Ammarpad I saw your changes in Ryouma Baba. He is a Japanese actor. But his official site shows the spelling of his name. http://tokientertainment.co.jp/management/ryomababa.html His name is Ryoma Baba. You don't use a "u" for his name.
Also his new film "futari no Uketorinin" changed the title. It is "One Son" and is going on screen next month. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Satorudayo (talk • contribs) 04:12, 11 June 2018 (UTC)

Template_talk:Hover_Title
Hi. Did you close it wrong, or did User:AlexTheWhovian move it wrong? I don't object to the result, t or T either way, but I do think that if you are going to close a discussion to something not actually mentioned in the discussion, you must give an explanation in the close. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 02:12, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
- @SmokeyJoe: I don't actually know what you mean by "not actually mentioned in the discussion...", but if you mean capital "T", it wasn't from me. I actually closed the request with small letter T. However, I requested it with the wrong capital T, but I fixed that Before he actioned the request 1 minute later. But you can see, the span is too short, so maybe he already opened the move tab, while I am correcting it. Also I wasn't aware it is template-protected, had I known, I wouldn't have closed it at all. Thanks. –Ammarpad (talk) 02:27, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
- My bad; I saw the request with the uppercase T, not the fix with the lowercase t, and clearly had already opened the move page before I saw the fix. -- AlexTW 12:14, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
- It wasn't your fault Alex. The situation is now self-explanatory and I think this has been resolved. –Ammarpad (talk) 11:37, 11 June 2018 (UTC)

- There is a new version of Pywikibot. Pywikibot is a tool to automate tasks on MediaWiki wikis. [23]
Problems

- @Jlvsclrk: Yes, of course, but I am not in rush, in case you're working on something. Regarding Justify article, that's good idea too, I see you've been working on it. –Ammarpad (talk) 12:27, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
Not so uncontroversial moves
Please revert all these, which are unlikely to be uncontroversial at all. Frankly I think you should be more discriminating in accepting "uncontroversial" speedies, espercially from this isp. Thanks. Johnbod (talk) 17:40, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- If you want request reversion of move, you can request so at WP:RMT under "requests to revert undiscussed moves" header. They are not "speedy moves", I am not even aware of that concept. The request was posted 17:48 (UTC), and the move was carried out almost an hour later at 18:11 (UTC), if somebody had objected or the requests appear unreasonable, they would've been declined. - 17:48 to 18:11 is 23 minutes, not "almost an hour"! Frankly I think you are editing beyond your competence if you think that is long enough. Johnbod (talk) 18:02, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- There's no policy that mandates even 10-minute waiting period before a technical request can be actioned, talkless of 18 minutes. It is allowed to be executed as soon as it is made, once it is reasonable. (The same way it can be reversed, if someone reasonably asked for it). I recently requested a technical move and it was actioned less that 1 minute later. –Ammarpad (talk) 18:11, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

Move review
If you have a moment, could you please review the move from my sandbox of Cape Catfish? It does not appear to have been done correctly. The full revision history of my sandbox went with the content to the new article, rather than the revision history for the article only. StrikerforceTalk 20:44, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- When I checked the page initially the history was intact, dating back to 2011. Pinging @Anthony Appleyard:, who moved the page. Please fix this. It seems the page has been copy-pasted again, now it contains only one revision. But when I checked on June 11, it has full history which dates back to 2011. Thanks. –Ammarpad (talk) 16:48, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
- Event:-
- At 20:39, 11 June 2018 User:Anthony Appleyard moved User:Strikerforce/sandbox to Cape Catfish without leaving a redirect
- At 13:58, 12 June 2018 User:Strikerforce blanked Cape Catfish and speedy-delete-tagged it.
- At 14:00, 12 June 2018 User:Alexf (an admin) obeyed that speedy-delete request.
- At 14:06, 12 June 2018 User:Strikerforce restarted Cape Catfish and that was its only edit which was viisble then.
- At 16:48, 13 June 2018 User:Ammarpad sent the above message.
- At 19:22, 13 June 2018 User:Anthony Appleyard I obeyed it and undeleted Cape Catfish and this restored all its edit history. See its edit comments.
- @Strikerforce and Ammarpad: I have now moved from Cape Catfish the old edits that were not about the baseball team, back to User:Strikerforce/sandbox. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 19:48, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
- I don't know what has to be done to get there, but the end result should be as @Alexf: did above. The only edit that should remain visible on Cape Catfish is the one that saw me take the contents of my sandbox and create the new article. There is no reason for the edit history of my sandbox to be with the existing Cape Catfish article. Anything beyond 14:06 06/12/18 was unnecessary. StrikerforceTalk 20:58, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Strikerforce: I believe Anthony has now solved that through this selective restoration. –Ammarpad (talk) 17:12, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Ammarpad: More or less, yes. There should only be ten revisions shown, though (the most recent ten). Everything prior to that was work unrelated to this article. But, I can live with it, I suppose. StrikerforceTalk 17:50, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- Actually, after taking another look at the edit history, I see where I initially created the redirect, then did other unrelated work... a bit of a mess, really. I'm okay with the existing history now. Carry on! StrikerforceTalk 18:09, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

Recent changes
- Syntax highlighting has been a beta feature on Wikimedia wikis with text written from left to right. It is now a normal feature. It is based on CodeMirror. [27]
Changes later this week
- There is no new MediaWiki version this week.
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the Editing team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 19 June at 18:30 (UTC). See how to join.
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 20 June at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- Some old web browsers will not be able to read the Wikimedia wikis. This is because they use an insecure way to connect to them. This means that we get less security for everyone else too. This affects about 0.08% of all traffic to the Wikimedia wikis. This affects for example those who read Wikipedia on a PlayStation 3. [28][29]
- The new filters for edit review tools and interface for watchlists will leave beta. Because there is no new MediaWiki version this week it will happen on 25 June for most wikis. For the rest it will happen in early July. [30][31]
- All wikis that have not already done so will switch to use the Remex parsing library on 5 July. This is to replace Tidy. You can help fix remaining errors. [32]

Ronn Pitts
Hello! I see you have done some editing of Ronn's page. I knew Ronn during the later 1970's and 1980's, perhaps into the 1990's before circumstances led to our paths diverging. I had a great deal of personal contact with him in California. My mother introduced us, and I had dinner with Ronn and Mike Gray during the time when Mike was working for Paramount/NBC on Star Trek. I have some great stories from hanging out with Ronn. He and I had some fine times. I really miss him a lot!! My kids and I love him dearly! But, I digress! Thank you for your contributions to his Wiki page.JackCrispin (talk) 11:55, 21 June 2018 (UTC)

With respect to this contested technical request at RM, is it not required that one present a concern with the proposal (even a poor concern) when contesting it, showing that it is being done in good faith? 142.160.89.97 (talk) 05:49, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- Technical request is meant for clear cut cases where no one will reasonably object. There's no threshold of determineing cogency of argument there, so once somebody objects, that means a discussion must necessarily take place. Move as a result of consensus from discussion is always better, as they can't be overturned without another discussion. –Ammarpad (talk) 06:00, 26 June 2018 (UTC)

Article Keke Palmer
Hi, Ammarpad, i found a dead ref link in this article. so i replace it with live url. and you revert it to dead link. please help to improve article quality with live url.. or you can check https://slaylebrity.com/videos/keke-palmer-didnt-know-how-to-deal-with-childhood-molestation/ url and after that please replace dead url with this url or other live url. thanks... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adaobiokoyeebozue (talk • contribs) 07:30, 30 June 2018 (UTC)
- The new reference doesn't support the content, (only the deadlink does). So you can't replace it that way, see WP:INTEGRITY. Either find the archived version of the deadink content and link to it or rewrite the entire paragraph and use new reference to support new content, all this bearing in mind the BLP policy. Thanks. –Ammarpad (talk) 08:04, 30 June 2018 (UTC)

See policy on promotion and also read guideline on notability which gives guide on what should have Wikipedia article, because not everything can have an article here. Also since it appears you know the person you're writing about personally, you should read Wikipedia's guideline on conflict of interest editing. There's also helpful guide on how to write your first article. Thanks. –Ammarpad (talk) 01:50, 3 July 2018 (UTC)

Question about adding into the Battlegrounds PUBG wiki on behalf of PUBG Mobile
Hello,
So way back in April I was asked to create a PUBG MOBILE page on behalf of Tencent Games...and not surprisingly it was rejected due to very similar content by you. Recently I was asked by my bosses to 'try again.' I was able to convince them that rather than create a new wiki, that we can just add into the existing BATTLEGROUNDS WIKI.
Now I know that it is a semi protected page and I'm not the most adept at going through the entire somewhat complicated process. So I was wondering if I could ask you to just...add onto it. I already wrote a new copy and have the references below.
Feel free to message me here or my work email of v_mingyxu@tencent.com
Other platforms (NEW VERSION)
Following the Chinese publication deal for the Windows version, Tencent Games and PUBG Corporation additionally announced that they were planning on releasing two mobile versions based on the game in the country.[69][70] "We chose to work with Tencent and their development studios because of their long-running history of high-quality mobile games and the level of love and support they put into their titles." said Chang Han Kim, CEO of PUBG Corp (reference 1). The first, PUBG: Exhilarating Battlefield, is an abridged version of the original game, and was developed by Lightspeed & Quantum Studio, an internal division of Tencent Games.[71] The second, PUBG: Army Attack, includes more arcade-style elements, including action taking place on warships, and was developed by Tencent's Timi Studio.[72] Both versions are free-to-play, and were released for Android and iOS devices on February 9, 2018.[73][74] The games had a combined total of 75 million pre-registrations, and ranked first and second on the Chinese iOS download charts at launch.[74] Following a soft launch in Canada, an English version of Exhilarating Battlefield known as PUBG Mobile, was released worldwide on March 19, 2018.[75][76][77] It only took PUBG MOBILE less than a week to become one of the fastest games to reach number 1 in downloads in over 100 countries and areas. PUBG Corporation and Tencent worked in tandem to create an authentic and satisfying PUBG experience on what has become the most accessible platform. Providing a well-optimized experience for all players remains a core value for the developers as they continue to release the handheld rendition of the popular Battle Royale game.(reference 2). Recently there is the inclusion of monetization in the form of purchasable outfits and weapon skins.

NPR Newsletter No.12 30 July 2018
|
Hello Ammarpad, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!
- June backlog drive
Overall the June backlog drive was a success, reducing the last 3,000 or so to below 500. However, as expected, 90% of the patrolling was done by less than 10% of reviewers.
Since the drive closed, the backlog has begun to rise sharply again and is back up to nearly 1,400 already. Please help reduce this total and keep it from raising further by reviewing some articles each day.
- New technology, new rules
- New features are shortly going to be added to the Special:NewPagesFeed which include a list of drafts for review, OTRS flags for COPYVIO, and more granular filter preferences. More details can be found at this page.
- Probationary permissions: Now that PERM has been configured to allow expiry dates to all minor user rights, new NPR flag holders may sometimes be limited in the first instance to 6 months during which their work will be assessed for both quality and quantity of their reviews. This will allow admins to accord the right in borderline cases rather than make a flat out rejection.
- Current reviewers who have had the flag for longer than 6 months but have not used the permissions since they were granted will have the flag removed, but may still request to have it granted again in the future, subject to the same probationary period, if they wish to become an active reviewer.
- Editathons
- Editathons will continue through August. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.
- The Signpost
- The next issue of the monthly magazine will be out soon. The newspaper is an excellent way to stay up to date with news and new developments between our newsletters. If you have special messages to be published, or if you would like to submit an article (one about NPR perhaps?), don't hesitate to contact the editorial team here.

International Prader-Willi Syndrome Organisation page
Thank you so much for your feedback! This is very new to me and I'm totally unsure of what I should or should not be doing. I have read (but will re-read) the pages on how to write a Wiki page and have looked through YouTube, but I would very much value your support while I get this done. I didn't realise it was advertising anything (was this about the conferences?) Thanks again
--IPWSO (talk) 05:08, 9 August 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, it is promotional completely and this is an organization that you're apparently representing/working with. So apart from promotional concern, you are even discouraged from editing pages for the organization: see conflict of interest editing. You can read Your first article to understand basics of writing article here and can also ask questions at Teahouse if anything's unclear. –Ammarpad (talk) 05:22, 9 August 2018 (UTC)

My Page Automatically Redirecting
I have created A page https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chirag_Gupta that automatically Redirecting to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Diary_of_a_Wimpy_Kid_characters#Chirag_Gupta. please fix it asap Chiraggupta8769 (talk) 06:41, 11 August 2018 (UTC)
- First, it was redirected by Onel5969 not automatically. Second, it seems you're trying to hijack the redirect AND create promotional article on yourself, both actions are not allowed and can get you warned at least, or blocked ultimately. I would advise you to read what Wikipedia is not and how to create article. If you're still confused, ask questions at our TeaHouse where there are always active volunteers to answer your questions cancerning editing Wikipedia. –Ammarpad (talk) 07:21, 11 August 2018 (UTC)

TOTD help request
Dear Ammarpad,
I noticed you signed up as a participant at WT:TOTD.
As you know, in addition to being displayed on thousands of user pages, the Tip of the day is also presented on some of the highest-traffic pages of the Wikipedia community, including the main help page, and the Community portal.
One thing that the Tip of the day department needs on an ongoing basis is maintenance of its tips, in the form of proofreading.
One way you could help with that is to display the tip of the day at the bottom of your talk page, where you would regularly see it. Then, if you notice any problems, you could dip in and fix them.
We have a special tip template that displays the tip 2 days in advance (in order to precede all time zones), to assist in checking tips before they go "live". That template has a secondary function as well: it provides a place to post department notices, when needed.
Notice the reference at the top of this message. That is a nifty little trick, to hang anything desired at the bottom of a talk page. I've used it to display the template just mentioned. If you place that at the top of your talk page somewhere, the daily tip will always be displayed below the last message on the page.
Just a bonus tip, from your friendly neighborhood Tip of the day department. ;) — The Transhumanist 16:24, 12 August 2018 (UTC)

Please proofread the daily tip before it goes "live"... It's displayed below two days early, so it can be error-checked and made ready-to-display for all time zones.
Some tips are obsolete. So we need new tips too. Please share your best tips and tip ideas at the Tip of the day department.
edit Day-after-next's tip of the day...
How to look at the changes to an articleIn the page history for any page, click (prev) (#9 on the image top right—click on the image to see a larger version) to see the changes for any version from the one just before it. To compare a series of versions, just click any two radio-buttons to select the set of versions, then click the Compare selected versions button (this only works if you have JavaScript enabled).
You should be presented with a screen that shows you which words have been removed and which ones have been added (affected words are highlighted in red). You always can revert to an earlier version by selecting it from the history, editing and saving it. We call these "diffs" because the URL has the word "diff" in it. Diff is short for difference.

What is the purpose of this redirect? https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?diff=817582524
I was going through the purpose of redirects from the following link and could not find anything to justify this redirect. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Redirect#Purposes_of_redirects
Can you share the purpose? Babji2000 (talk) 11:16, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
- The reasons listed there aren't exhaustive but you'll still find it if you first read the AfD that resulted in converting the page to redirect. –Ammarpad (talk) 12:04, 14 August 2018 (UTC)

You can read the migration guide to fix old scripts. [68]

Speedy deletion contested: User:Globalprojectshelp/sandbox
Hello Ammarpad, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of User:Globalprojectshelp/sandbox, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not an unambiguous copyright infringement, or there is other content to save. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. —SerialNumber54129 paranoia /cheap sh*t room 12:34, 24 August 2018 (UTC)
