Revdel
I don't understand why you considered my reverts here and here to be just as disruptive as the previous editor; have I been caught up with 3RR for a reason or another? hmssolent\You rang? ship's log 15:39, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
- No, it is not you. You did fine. This is to remove a disruptive and offensive name from the edit summary. -- Alexf(talk) 15:41, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
- Ah, hanks. I was somewhat surprised seeing that revdel on both the reverts and the vandalising edits, thought I was caught up with it too. hmssolent\You rang? ship's log 15:44, 3 June 2013 (UTC)

My Wiki page Lil Boy Fresh was deleted
Hello I am a music producer and I had a wiki page created for me and for some reason it was deleted. I'm a real person my website is www.lilboyfreshmusicgroup.com. I just wanted to know if I could get it re-established because it brings my professionalism up a lot. Thank you Jason 50.79.146.230 (talk) 21:02, 3 June 2013 (UTC) 6/3/2013
- Jason, you have to help me here, as the instructions at the top of the edit page says. You did not put a link to the article. I went ahead and looked at the last 2,500 deletions and did not find it with that title. Without looking at it i can't tell you why it was deleted, and you can imagine with thousands of edits a month it is hard if not impossible to remember all (assuming I am the one who deleted it, if I wasn't then it is even harder to find without a redlink). I also looked at the edits of your account (the IP you signed in with) and this account did not edit that article, ever, so no luck there. As per your comments on getting re-established, all depends on why it was deleted. If it was for lack of assertion of notability (a very common reason), you have to read the linked pages. As long as the article follows The Golden Rule there should be no problem. You say it "brings professionalism up"'. Sorry but that reason is totally irrelevant to Wikipedia as this is an encyclopedia and only covers notable subjects. It is not a means of promotion, and it is not Facebook. -- Alexf(talk) 23:12, 3 June 2013 (UTC)

My page Ooops a Desi, has been deleted please restore.
Hi, Please dont delete this page as this is not a promotional page. This is the information page of an upcoming movie. This movie is releasing worldwide on 5th July in association with Cinemax - A very popular multiplex chain in India. The trailer of this movie has been watched over 4.5 Lacs times on Youtube in less than 2 weeks. Also, the page that I created is still not complete as I am in the process of entering more information about the movie. I am still to submit various links of news and other websites like bollywoodhungama, imdb, etc. I will complete editing the page within the next two days. Hence, I request you not to delete this page. Let me complete please.
Aside, Please let me know of the promotional content as I will remove the same.
- It seems you do not understand Wikipedia or what promotional means. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. As such it only has notable subjects. Have you read the specific requirements for notability of films? To assert notability it requires sources. The article had none (you mentioned IMDb, note that IMDb is not an acceptable source. The article says the movie has not been released, therefore it cannot be very popular and notable yet. You said it is not promotional, yet you are advertising an upcoming film, explaining the plot and that "This could either turn deadly for them or an improbable blessing in disguise that only the ending to this fast paced exciting thriller will reveal". If that is not promoting and enticing potential viewers, what is? Furthermore it did not follow the Golden Rule. The article has been deleted previously for being promotional. You went ahead and re-created the next day, without discussing the issue. It seems you are bent on promoting, else why can't you wait a few months until it has been released and it becomes notable? Are you related to the production company? Please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). -- Alexf(talk) 11:31, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
Hi,
I have made certain changes so that the page does not look promotional. Rather it is informative now. Request you to please go through it and approve else please suggest any other modifications. I assure to you that I will improve this content within days to come. Please help me to restore my page.
Thanks! Pushker.mumbai (talk) 12:27, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
- I don't see any changes and as I told you above you are promoting a film that does not exist. For creation of new articles and review I would suggest you visit The Teahouse. Be careful when you say things like "Please help me to restore my page". Besides claiming ownership, it begs the question of what kind of undeclared conflict of interest you may have. You seem too intent in adding a non-existing film to the encyclopedia. I would hope your intent is not promotional. If and when it is released and becomes notable then it may warranty an article, not before. -- Alexf(talk) 12:42, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
Block of User:Arsenalisthebestclubever
Hello, you blocked Arsenalisthebestclubever (talk · contribs) within the last hour. I believe the grounds for which s/he was blocked are invalid. I have posted a detailed explanation on the user's talk page, and respectfully request a review of this user's block. Thank you. —KuyaBriBriTalk 14:36, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
- Ok. Fair enough. I take your advice. User unblocked and warned. Will keep an eye on their behavior. If there is a need for a block next time it will be more serious up to indef, if attitude and disruptive editing behavior persists. -- Alexf(talk) 14:45, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for looking into that. I agree the user's behavior was not exactly ideal and will not object to an indef block if uncivil/disruptive editing continues. I just had a problem with the fact that s/he was given vandalism warnings for removing prod tags, which is explicitly acceptable per WP:DEPROD. I also think that the legitimate vandalism I identified might not have happened if s/he had not been bitten by those misguided but good faith users. I'll try to keep an eye on the user as well over the next couple of days. —KuyaBriBriTalk 14:53, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

DEOrganicChurch block
While there are some problems with this guy's editing, I am not sure he warrants a block on username grounds as it does not appear to me that he is promoting a specific organization corresponding to that name. Might we consider unblocking per his request? Daniel Case (talk) 15:29, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
- Claims to be a single user. Not by that name. Therefore I would support an unblock for a change of name but only for that. Also a warning to the user that under the new name s/he has to declare any COI if they intend to continue with the same type of editing. In short, go ahead, but I'll watchlist for a few days for CHU. -- Alexf(talk) 15:38, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

You were asked for semi-protection on Rob Ford article, but you implemented full protection. I'm curious why you did that. Three months seems like a long time for full protection. Alaney2k (talk) 19:17, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
- Because that is what it had before. Maybe in retrospect it should be semi. Ok. Downgraded. Let's see how it goes. -- Alexf(talk) 23:46, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
Sydney Alliance
Why did you delete the Sydney Alliance from the list of international affiliates of the Industrial Areas Foundation? It seems to be a real community organization. Is it not a "real" affiliate of IAF? Evidence? Dwalls (talk) 03:34, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
- Spam link added by an indef user. If the organization is notable (I don't doubt it), then someone other than them will write an article. To be in a list it should have an article written. WP is not a collection of links. Please post a link next time so it makes it easier to find. Thanks. -- Alexf(talk) 10:24, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
Hello Alexf.
You mentioned that my user name may be against the law. If it is then it was completely unintentional and due to my obvious lack of knowing all the rules. I used this name as it is easy for me to remember and to also remember the reason why I have joined Wikipedia in the first instance: to address some of what I know to be incorrect on some of the pages on Shire based artists, entertainers, actors and athletes, and to hopefully create new articles to include notables that I believe should be on Wikipedia. Do you think I should close my account? --Shireartists (talk) 05:36, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
- Not close but rename. Closing and re-creating means losing any account history until new (doable and your choice). Renaming means requesting a new name. This request is granted by a crat and the account keeps the history. Again, your choice. -- Alexf(talk) 10:17, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
Hello Alex, I'm a bit puzzled, as you placed {{softerblock}} at the talk page of this editor/group, but they aren't blocked, at least from what I can see. Btw, I don't think blocking would be fair, as they are proceeding in a transparent and open way (see Talk:General Accident). --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 14:55, 6 June 2013 (UTC)

User:Csisupport&development
Hi Alex,
You recently blocked the page I was working on: CSI Support & Development. I've been reading up on the articles about business promotion, and I am assuming that is why you deleted it. I was hoping that you could help me find a way to fix the page so that it complies with Wikipedia policies. We are not specifically trying to advertise, but give a description of what we are. I was using Wikipedia searches like "Google" as a template, but I'm not sure what makes their page legitimate and not mine. Anything that you can provide me will be appreciated. Thank you. Smitvict (talk) 19:16, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
- I did not "block" that page but deleted it as it was nominated as a speedy deletion under G11 (promotions). It is important to understand that we do not accept promotional material of any kind, way, shape or form as this is an encyclopedia. The piece read like a PR blurb, full of "Mission", "Core Values" and "Principles". As it was the page cannot - and should not - be saved but re-written in a neutral tone. You have a conflict of interest obviously but maybe you are not clear on what that means here. Maybe reading the Business FAQ might help you to understand. The account also violated the username policy as you already know. It is as simple as that. No advertisements, ever. Period. Next you said, if I understood you correctly, you were using the Google page as a template and can't understand why that page is "legitimate" and not yours? Seriously? Take a look at the tone of the text there. Look at the references and citations. Look at the Edit History and see that it was not done in a day. It was started in October 2004 and edited, lengthened, and improved continuously over several thousand edits, by hundreds of individual contributors, who I can assure you most of them if not all do not work for the company. Lastly, if you insist on writing about your company after reading all of this (including the Business FAQ), you should be aware of Wikipedia's Law of Unintended Consequences. -- Alexf(talk) 23:19, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
Article Deletion
Hello Alexf, could you may put my article that you deleted back in my sandbox? I changed the text yesterday during the day and gave additional references. There shouldn't be anymore a copyright issue. Could you tell me where you still found a copy right issue?
Many thanks, --MichelleLily14 (talk) 05:59, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry but that article (Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Sensile Medical) was a copyright violation. As such it cannot be restored. We take copyvios very seriously in Wikipedia. I was deleted two times previously to this, once in May 2013 for being an advertisement for the company, and before that, in 2008 as Sensile Medical for copyvio again. If the company is notable it may warrant an article, but in no way it can use text lifted from their website. Are you related to the company? If you are, please read the "plain and simple conflict of interest guide" and remember that whatever you post, must be compliant with The Golden Rule. -- Alexf(talk) 15:27, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
- Yes I know, the article was tagged and then I started to rewrite the whole text and right in the middle of it you deleted it. I don't know how wrote the article back in 2008. The one in may I had put to many details about the products, that I found on the website but I changed the whole then. I would really like to improve the article and really see the problem that I violated the copyright by copying text from the website. And yes it is my job to write the article for the company. I orientated on other company articles like [motorex] and intended to do something similar. So is there no way to work further on it? MichelleLily14 (talk) 11:34, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Page Deleted
Hello there, I am not an author on wiki, but I noticed that a page has been deleted. Guy_Claxton - under the explanation A7 I believe it was. I would like to simply comment that Guy Claxton is a renowned cognitive psychologist, best known for his educational methodology Building Learning Power. He has written dozens of books and should be recognized for his works through wiki, especially considering that he is largely responsible for having shifted the educational paradigm at a national level in both England and New Zealand. If you would like, I offer my help to putting together a biography about him. Thank you for your time, Stephanie — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.212.125.201 (talk) 14:21, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
- Stephanie:That article was deleted three years ago. It contained a copyright violation. We take copyrights very seriously in Wikipedia. Once an editor removed the copyvio, there was not much left in order to assert notability. I do not doubt that the person is notable, but my opinion, or yours, do not count. Every article must meet The Golden Rule. This one did not. If you want to write an article here (BTW it is "Wikipedia", not "Wiki" as Wiki is a generic type of software), go ahead. If you are not experienced in writing, maybe Your First Article may be of help. You can always go though AfC if you want. If you need help, the Tea House is always open. Question about speedy deletion
Hello:
I want to create a new page for Steven Weitzman, an artist who has created a sculpture of Frederick Douglass that is being dedicated tomorrow (19 June 2013) for permanent display in Emancipation Hall at the U.S. Capitol Building.
I see that a page with that name has been previously created and then speedy deleted for the reason "Unambiguous copyright infringement: Multiple reasons: Speedy deletion criteria G11, G12."
I am not the creator of that earlier page and do not intend to repeat the same errors (promotion and copyright infringement).
I have done a number of edits in the past but this is my first page creation. Therefore, I intend to keep it simple: statement about the types of work he does and has done with a reference to the upcoming (tomorrow!) ceremony to dedicate the Douglass statue. I'm also thinking of mentioning some of his awards.
I understand the need for neutral tone. Everything included will, of course, be referenced to neutral and verifiable reliable sources.
JimmieJJ (talk) 00:25, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
- Ok but what is your question? I don't see one here. The article was deleted a year ago. It was created by S. Weitzman himself (at least the account had his name) and it contained copyvio of his biography. We take copyvios very seriously here. -- Alexf(talk) 00:57, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the speedy reply.
I contacted you because, when I went to create the page, I got a message "If you are recreating a page similar to the previously deleted page, or are unsure, please first contact the deleting administrator."
As I mentioned, this is my first new page creation. Being "unsure," and not wanting to get off to a bad start by stepping on toes, I did as instructed.
I will proceed with the new page.
Again, thanks.-- JimmieJJ (talk) 01:26, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
List of women photographers
I've reverted your edit to List of women photographers. Maybe you misunderstood the purpose of these additional entries in the list - it's a common method of pointing viewers to bluelinks when people have more than one nationality/citizenship.
As for the 'Gallery', I can't see a massive problem with this at the moment, but maybe you're right to think we don't eventually want a picture of every person on the list. If you want to remove it again I'm not going to complain. :)
- Please tell me what part of WP:NOTDIRECTORY I misunderstood. Also why should we have lists of everything and everybody? Lists do not confer notability. They are just look-ups to existing articles. No article, no entry in the list as the editnotice in the article clearly states. Furthermore, what is the point of having people repeated in several sections on the list? (e.g. Suzanna Clarke in both Australia and New Zealand. She's a New Zealander as her article says. So if she moves between 10 countries we should have her (and everybody) 10 times? Also the article (gallery included) does not comply with MOS:LISTS. Do you want me to go on? If you do not agree, please state your reasons (with proper reference for support) in the article's Talk Page. This is not the place for this discussion. Please remember to sign your posts in talk pages. -- Alexf(talk) 17:46, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
- It's a drawback of listing people by nationality. Some people don't have a single, unambiguous nationality. Sionk (talk) 17:51, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
- Then why should it be by nationality? Look at List of photographers for example. -- Alexf(talk)
- That's probably best left for the Talk page too. All methods have their drawbacks. Sionk (talk) 18:16, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

Spurious WP:ELNO warning
Your use of the WP:rollback feature in the Number sign and subsequent spurious warning at user talk: Adewopo constitute a serious misjudgement. I hope it was purely accidental. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 17:20, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for your interest and your notice, but you are mistaken in this case. It is not "spurious or a misjudgement". It turns out you did not see the link because a bot removed it (in this case Filter 149). He knows and the bot knows he posted a spam link. The pertinent section of the sentence originally read as follows: "..Though not formally established, this usage was initiated by https://www.facebook.com/julius.adewopo Julius Adewopo in 2009 and is increasingly being adopted...".
- Granted, in retrospect and seeing what you see, it may have been better to warn him for posting unsourced original research. In any case, next time please ask "why did you post that to him?" as opposed to coming to conclusions on incomplete information. No worries. Cheers. -- Alexf(talk) 19:05, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- Then, it is an overt WP:COI, about which your was indeed silent. Thanks for letting me know that the “filter” now can to censor edits piecemeal, not only reject them as a whole: I did not aware about it. But if the edit was already stripped of an ELNO, as the edit is seen in diff=, oldid=, and in the article at the time, then the use of rollback against it was not correct without a special explanation why Special:PermanentLink/561361474 is a degradation of the article. Now I see Julius Adewopo in it, but things I noticed first were an unexplained rollback and the absence of external links. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 05:30, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

Issue with blocking reason
Hey. Just a heads up that there's nothing wrong with this userid. His former one was wholly problematic, but "Bob from Microsoft" or the like are considered to be ok. Continual spamming, however is a different issue. Right now this user thinks he needs to change his username, which he does not - he does, however, have to stop spamming. (✉→BWilkins←✎) 15:08, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
- I see what happened. I intended to block Camline Marketing, not Eddie from, as I understand the Mark at Alcoa decision. Suggestions on a course of action? Or leave as-is? -- Alexf(talk) 15:18, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
- Well, you have a benefit since you accidentally did not leave him a block notice - if you dropped by his page and "clarified" that his username is fine, but that the promotional/spamming aspect is the current reason for the block, then it will help him to better answer the questions he's been asked, and to better devise a way forward (✉→BWilkins←✎) 16:13, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

I would like to have my page restored please
Hi there Alexf!
First of all, thanks for moderating Wikipedia. Your talk page and your contributions are really awesome! I'll make it short though. I'm writing because a page I created recently (Fablelane) got deleted because it did not specify its importance and significance. There wasn't even left a talk discussion on the subject. Why was it deleted? I already read the [guidelines], so I am really curious.
The web page there was featured on History Channel. Does that not make it significant enough? Or the fact that it is the only system of its kind?
I am hoping we can work together on this as fellow Wikipedians.
Best regards, Mathias. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mathiaslylo (talk • contribs) 17:40, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Mathias, given that this is latest of a half-dozen efforts of yours to publicize your own products, I don't think we are likely to restore this or any of your other deleted spam "articles" about your own merchandise. - Mathias, the article was deleted (twice by two different admins) for lack of assertion of notability. It stated that the subject (a website) was created in May 2013, hardly time enough to become notable and be covered by reliable sources. In any case, there were no sources included to assert notability. In short, in order for an article to belong in Wikipedia, it must follow the Golden Rule. Templates and the new visual editor
Hey Alexf
I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).
So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.
What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.
The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.
Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 21:15, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
- I don't know. I am pretty busy in RL so I completely ignored the notes on the new VisualEditor as I am ok with the current version. As for Template work, not really. Most of it is simple EditNotice templates, nothing complex or requiring code. Although I am a coder in real life I stay away from new software languages and things as I do not have the time and the will to experiment once I leave work. Nowadays my interests run in a completely different direction. Let's wait till the editor is available next week. I'll play with it and answer then. Ok? (pls don't forget to start new sections in talk pages - you forgot here). -- Alexf(talk) 21:56, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

chateau marmont band
Hello,
I'm writing you about my page delation. You said "No explanation of significance (real person/animal/organization/web content/organized event))"
but the article explains that it's french band which have notoriety, a french page exists on wikipedia and the band went on tour in US recently.
Could you be more precise about the changes I have to do to create the page ?
Thank you in advance for your help, Nathalie
- Being in another WP is irrelevant. Explaining with sources, how do they meet the notability requirements under WP:BAND is the key. Next time, please add a redlink as requested and be nice and sign your posts in talk. -- Alexf(talk) 10:16, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
Madras Cafe
You recently blocked User:Madras Cafe. Almost immediately after that, the account User:Madrascafeindia was created, which has a similar user name and is editing the same article. I thought I'd bring this to your attention in case you think the new account name doesn't solve the COI/role account issue. —Psychonaut (talk) 13:38, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

Ricky Hoover
If you remember when you deleted the article for the semi-popular deathcore band Sufokate back about like 2 years ago, I'm here to inform that their old singer Ricky Hoover has gotten his own article. Suffokate was his only band so I don't really think he asserts importance whatsoever considering nothing he was else a part of is on this website unless of course he somehow asserts importance by the sources for the page. I don't really know, I'll leave this up to you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.225.138.93 (talk) 21:29, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

Computer programs are not eligible for deletion under CSD A7--of not notable, even if of no apparent importance, they need to be deleted with prod or AfD. In some cases, G11 is relevant, but I thought Osync (Software) was only borderline promotional, so I changed it to prod. Could you check back, and if the prod gets removed, send it to AfD. Hi Alex, I just changed my username as you requested...it says I am still blocked? 17:34, 26 July 2013 (UTC)~ChristineLIC — Preceding unsigned comment added by ChristineLIC (talk • contribs)

- (tps) It looks like this used to be User:Life_in_Color who you blocked for having a promotional username. It also looks like this user has not read the WP:COI link left on the original LiC's talk page and has restored edits on Life_in_Color_(tour) that had been reverted by User:Orangemike. JanetteDoe (talk) 19:56, 31 July 2013 (UTC)
Hi. You blocked the above user, whom I had warned last week. I don't disagree with the block, all signs point to a troll sock. But I thought policy was not to block unless the user continued using the name after being warned--which was not the case here. (Otherwise I would have taken the account immediately to username ani.) Can you suggest how I treat this in the future, what the reasoning was? Thanks. μηδείς (talk) 18:41, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
- It was not blocked for being a troll or a sock, just for the name which is offensive (even if not intended) as it contains a slur. He was warned and sufficient time was given for him to request a change of name. Users are required to request a change of name or abandon the account and start a new one, or defend the chosen name for their case to be heard if they so wish. The name was not properly defended, the current name cannot stay. -- Alexf(talk) 18:46, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, basically you are saying he has a time limit whether he edits or not and I did the right thing to place the original warning. If that's correct no need to answer. Thanks again. μηδείς (talk) 19:27, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
- You are correct. The warning or notice placed was appropriate. That triggers a placement in the Admin Board. It was not blatant enough for immediate action so we generally let it stay for some time. A company (group name) might get a few days, sometimes they stay in the list for a week, sometimes, if it is busy, for a lot longer. Inappropriate names like this are not allowed to stay long. -- Alexf(talk) 20:31, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, that's cool, so I don't ever have to file a separate notice (not that I see this often). Thanks a lot. μηδείς (talk) 20:41, 26 July 2013 (UTC)

- Indeed. The name bhncdsb_communications indicates a violation of WP:GROUPNAME. Furthermore your email address as indicated here is part of the organization. Sales has nothing to do with anything. It is a username violation and a conflict of interest. The instructions on how to request an unblock are in the blocking message. This is not done through here. My Wiki page International Hospital Federation was deleted
Hello,
You have deleted my page about the IHF. This page is not a promotional page as the International Hospital Federation is an Non Governemental Organisation, a non-profit organization. I was as neutral as possible just putting fowards dates, facts and projects made by them. Before doiing this page I didn't knew anything about de IHF, and I spend days looking for archives and documents. As I wrote it with an account called IHF-FIH you must have thought I was part of the NGO but it was just a lacke of ideas for the name. As big organizations like the Red Cross , medecins sans frontieres, have a Wiki page, I thought that a smaller, but not less internationaly recognized association could also have a page.
Morevover, I did not copy the website as you supposed. I actually used some information that I did not change, as for example, parts of the IHF's constitution. Indeed, I had the autoriation of M de Roodenbeke, director of the NGO for this. It was preferable to use words that were discussed for hours by professionals to find the meaning, that discribes best the association. How can a prove that I had the autorisation ? Nevertheless, that is just a little part of my work the rest is based on books, journals and Reports. I know that Copyright is a real problem nowadays and I am also fighting against that, but I you really read my page, you will see that is not my case. Hoping you understand my request,
Regards, Julie Lambert — Preceding unsigned comment added by Julie-lamb03 (talk • contribs) 14:25, 31 July 2013 (UTC)
- The website had a lot of sections (almost all) as a Copyright violation. For legal reasons we cannot accept copyrighted text. I checked several passages against the original website and they were copied word by word. They were also checked by a bot and found to be the same. I also checked and currently the organization's website has a very clear message saying it is copyrighted. As for the authorization you say you have, that is meaningless. If indeed the organization wants to place their website in the public domain or release their text with a CC-BY-SA 3.0 license, please read "Using copyrighted work from others" and "donating copyrighted materials" to see how to go about it. As per the organization, you say that it is similar to others in WP. I do not doubt that but the concept is irrelevant. Every subject of every article has to be notable by itself. As long as you do not copy text and you follow the Golden Rule you should be OK. Please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). -- Alexf(talk) 14:45, 31 July 2013 (UTC)
Hello Alex, I would like to submit to you my version of the International Hospital Federation. I hope I will be able to put it here. Otherwise please tell me where I can put the file (word). Thanks. - It would be nice if you provided a link to it as requested. I took a look but the proper place for that is posting it at WP:AfC. As per the proposed article, I see a lot of PR-like assertions but no references nor citations whatsoever. Without them it is all hearsay and original research. More troubling, why is this an exact copy of User:SheilaAnne's user page? Are we having a Sock puppetry issue here? Are you both the same user? That is a breach of policy and will result in both accounts being closed. Or are you both different people pushing the same agenda? also frowned upon. Please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~).
.Hello again, Thanks for answering. First I would like to tell you that it is not easy to understand the instructions or to find where or how to put them. 1. I visited WP:AfC and next time I will put the article there. 2. I see a lot of PR-like assertions--> Can you please give examples so that they can be re-written to comply with your requirements as our intention is not to introduce PR-like assertions. 3. Why is this an exact copy of SheilaAnne user's page--> Sheila is a friend. She wrote the article and tried to create the page in Wikipedia but was unable to fully understand and follow the instructions and asked me to help her on this. I took what she had written and I am trying to have her article published. 4. We are looking for citations to include in the article. Thanks for your attention. JamesJames.moreno (talk) 11:05, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
- To learn how to work with Wikipedia code and rules you can read WP:HELP or ask at the Teahouse. I understand now why another user posted exactly the same text. As said, AfC is the place to post new articles if you need help. They are experts in the rules and will let you know about it. Be aware they do have a workload so it might take a while. Re: PR-like: for example: "The aim of the IHF is..." and "the world’s unique forum". You may want to read about peacock words at the Manual of Style. -- Alexf(talk) 13:20, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
I notice you removed the username policy notice I added there. Their only contribs are to a page about one Daniel Margotta. Surely this fouls fall of WP:IMPERSONATE; either they are Margotta and must prove this (and respect WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY), or they're not Margotta and must pick another username. Pinkbeast (talk) 00:50, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
- Ah. The confusion arose from you posting an incomplete tag, which did not explain the reason for the warning. I see now. Username has been blocked. -- Alexf(talk) 02:04, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry. I tag these as I spot them, and I'll try to be less vague in future. Pinkbeast (talk) 12:09, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

Alex, I am an avid listener of latin music and therefore made a page for a well known Gibson endorsed guitarist and producer "Reynold martinez," and got a reply from you stating that the page has insufficient indication of importance and it was marked for speedy deletion. I am fairly new to wikipedia and have yet to familiarize myself with all the rules. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PM3ENT (talk • contribs) 17:47, 9 August 2013 (UTC)
- Maybe the automated text should not really say "importance" as it makes it a little confusing. What it means is that the article does not follow The Golden Rule. It needs verifiable, independent reliable sources to assert notability. In the case of musicians the notability requirements are defined under WP:BAND. You need to show 9with proper sourcing) which of those minimum requirements he meets. Bucktrack
I was surprised to see Bucktrack (talk · contribs) blocked. His (?) addition to Long-distance trails in the United States seems appropriate. His second edit to that article triggered the COI flag, but I initially dismissed that as a reasonable coincidence based on his interests.
Perhaps there is some reason you did not issue a uw-spam or uw-advert warning first? —EncMstr (talk) 17:48, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
- The account is named as a company and the edit included a link to their website which directly matches the name of the account. Seems to me it is a clear case. A violation of username rules, and spamming their website to boot. If they disagree they can appeal in their talk page as the instructions say. As per warning first? If the case is borderline or if it is a non-username vio and starts spamming, then yes. They were not blocked for something covered in uw-spam but for a username violation. -- Alexf(talk) 18:04, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
- Okay then. I have issued quite a few spamusername blocks myself but somehow didn't see that in this case. I thought perhaps you had knowledge of socks behind this. Thanks! —EncMstr (talk) 18:09, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

Golden Dragon Museum Deletion
You deleted Golden Dragon Museum saying it wasn't notable. This is incorrect. It is quite notable. It is one of the largest museum's in regional Australia, it has won a ton of awards and your deletion of the page has left a few red links around. If you feel the page needs editing to show this significance then sure I also believe that. I'll need it undeleted to do that and I'd really like to know how you came to the conclusion the Golden Dragon Museum wasn't significant? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sir Langan (talk • contribs) 06:09, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

- Sir Langan and Alexf, I added a few links and citations to the Golden Dragon Museum page, also.

Deletion of article "Open College Network"
I do not understand why Open College Network has been deleted. The OCN are an accreditation organisation of which I am hoping to receive a qualification from. The reason given for deletion is "Unambiguous advertising or promotion" and yet after reading the archived article on the Internet Archive I fail to see why their page should be removed while other similar organisations' pages are allowed to stay; I even expect it is an embarrassment to them that they have been denied the respect afforded to them by having their article deleted. My course is being funded by the local council so it is unfair to label them as a company exclusively out to gain profit from members of the public and to claim that this article is merely them advertising their services. MagikGimp (talk) 10:43, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

- No. Just start in (preferably work on it off-line or in a sandbox). If you need help maybe you could read Wikipedia:Your first article or ask a the Teahouse. Please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). -- Alexf(talk) 19:04, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
Hello Alexf, I have tried the article wizard but it's showing a message "This page is currently protected and can be edited only by administrators.", So are have you protected this page? Thanks Benjohnson61 —Preceding undated comment added 20:29, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
- Didn't know. I just checked and indeed it was protected by User:SlimVirgin because of an RFPP request, admin action taken with this summary: "'Indefinite create protection: Repeatedly recreated – spam article about entirely non-notable company, created 3 times in 4 months by serial spammer/linkspammer who's just been listed at AIV and will probably be blocked in a minute." You should ask her about it for more details, and make your case that this is not so and you can prove the company is notable. (assuming you can of course, if not don't waste your time). Please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). -- Alexf(talk) 21:37, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Alex, thanks for letting me know about this. I protected the page following a request on RfPP. I don't think the summary quoted above is mine; I'm not sure where that came from. Ben, the point now is to make sure any proposed article makes clear, by citing independent sources, that the company is notable, because someone has tried to create this several times using only the company itself as a source. SlimVirgin (talk) 22:13, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
- Ok. My bad. I mmentioned the RfPP request summary as it more clearly defines the action and the request. Your summary was much simpler, to the point of just protecting the article from re-creation.

Hello SlimVirgin, as I just wanted to know if I can create article on this topic or not? Benjohnson61 —Preceding undated comment added 01:06, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
- Ben. I do not know if she's watching this page. I may suggest you create it in a sandbox off your user page then ask for review or go to AfC. The page will probably not be unprotected unless you can show your article follows the Golden Rule as specified above. Would it be too much to ask (for the third time) to follow proper procedure and sign your posts in Talk Pages by using four tildes instead of your username? It gives SineBot much to do and he's busy. Thank you. -- Alexf(talk) 01:16, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
Hello Alexf, thanks for your help & reply. I have created a message on SlimVirgin talk page. Thanks Benjohnson61 (talk) 01:21, 24 August 2013 (UTC)Benjohnson61
- Hi Ben, the best thing is for you to create a proposed article in your sandbox at User:Benjohnson61/sandbox. If it complies with the policies, we can then unprotect the article title, and move your article into place. SlimVirgin (talk) 01:25, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
Hello SlimVirgin, thanks for update now I got it. I'll definitely try with this article if I can and after creating it I will write on your tall page to inform you. Thanks to SlimVirgin and Alexf. Benjohnson61 (talk) 01:43, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
Regarding the ip 8.2.215.2
8.2.215.2's block expires this monday, and he may distrupt his talk page as seen in his past contribs before he was blocked 2 months by user:Barek with talk page access revoked. numbermaniac suggested me to ask an admin to keep an eye on 8.2.215.2 if you can? cheers! DDreth [talk to me] 14:54, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
- If I am online at the time, ok, but the way this is done is you can keep an eye and then warn them to stop if they resume. If they continue, after warning, then report them at AIV where several admins can take quick action if needed. -- Alexf(talk) 16:57, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
- This ip has been through the warning process more than once already, however he continues to blank his talk page and replace it with nonsense. I'm wondering whether a one-warning system is possible here, if he does it again just block him. No warnings. -- t numbermaniac c 01:42, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
Miami Ad School
Hi, I saw that you removed some paragraphs describing promotions created by Miami Ad School as "POV," which I gather means that they express a personal point of view. I do not think those paragraphs were "POV" as they were referenced to two books about the advertising field. It is the author of those books who has singled these as innovative promotional efforts. Obviously you are more experienced at this than I am, so I will defer to your judgment, but I put some time into finding examples of experts in advertising talking about the school and the impact of its programs. So, I hope that there is some way to reword or rewrite those in order to use the research that I have done so far.
Also, I came across another school which happens to be almost exactly like Miami Ad School, which is The Creative Circus, and I saw a lot more promotional material on its page, without any sort of references. There are some issues noted at the top of the page, but the promotional material has been there for a long time without being removed, so I had the impression that information about Miami Ad School that is actually referenced and is relevant to the type of work the school does should be ok. Thanks. WPGA2345 (talk) 21:35, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker)Not necessarily. Just because there is junk in Wikipedia that hasn't been purged yet, doesn't justify the addition of further junk. That maxim is referred to as WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS for short. --Orange Mike | Talk 00:27, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for commenting. I appreciate the difference. What I'm saying is that if 'junk' is allowed to sit there in one place so that someone can come and add references and improve it, then information that actually already has references, and reflects what an expert on the advertising industry wrote about in her book, should not be treated like 'junk.' Maybe there is, instead, some improvement that can be made to the presentation of the expert's writing on the subject? WPGA2345 (talk) 02:53, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
- When people with conflicts of interest add links and references to their own websites, products, books, whatever, it is highly suspicious and frowned upon as spamming their own wares. As per other stuff existing, as Orange Mike said, it is not a valid argument as each article has to live on its own merits. I am sure there is a lot of crap out there not yet found and cleaned up. Thanks for pointing that one up, I'll take a look. -- Alexf(talk) 13:21, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

- Hi, thanks for explaining, but I'm still confused, since I have not added any links or references to any websites, products, or books of my own. I attended Miami Ad School, but this was over fifteen years ago and I've had no connection or affiliation with the school for over a decade. Is it a conflict of interest to write about any school that you attended? (My primary interest is in aviation and I actually plan to edit in that area, but I was just poking around and was surprised to find that there was an article on Miami Ad School in the German Wikipedia, but not on this one.) WPGA2345 (talk) 19:44, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry, my apologies. I was busy with three articles and the phone rang when I wrote that. I should have been more careful as I go confused and mentioned the bit about conflicts of interest which did not apply in this case but the other one I had open. This one was about a small removal of unsourced POV. Yes you can write about the school, as long as you source/cite properly. Apologies. -- Alexf(talk) 23:19, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
- OK. Thanks for taking the time to look at it. WPGA2345 (talk) 01:20, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

hi | |
i just wanted to be in dan because it is my name as you can see
Danielminer2 (talk) 15:52, 29 August 2013 (UTC) |
- Ok. Please do not do it again. The edit page on Dan very clearly says what not to do, yet you went ahead and did it. That is considered vandalism. WP is a project to build an encyclopedia not your website, or Facebook. -- Alexf(talk) 15:56, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
Indiatimeline
I've unblocked Indiatimeline to allow them to change their name. The new name proposed seemed fine and many of their edits were productive. I didn't see promotional use of the link in a quick scan, so I didn't bother with all the COI questions. As always, revert my actions if I've jacked something up. - No issues here. -- Alexf(talk) 00:41, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

...Lasted all of a few minutes before another mysterious new user continued it... Any recommendations Alex? I don't like getting into these situations. Thanks ツ Jenova20 (email) 13:58, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
