DYK for The Rains of Castamere
On 16 June 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article The Rains of Castamere, which you recently nominated. The fact was ... that the central event of the Game of Thrones episode "The Rains of Castamere" was the initial inspiration for the producers to adapt A Song of Ice and Fire for television? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Rains of Castamere. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Both the original and the remix of the song are singles; the first one was sent to radio, the second was made for digital download (single too!). See "Pour It Up" for example. Cheers! — Tomíca(T2ME) 09:22, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

Hey Adabow
I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).
So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.
What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.
The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

In case you didn't know, I have nominated "S&M" for FAC once again. It is the tenth nomination. I have collaborated with the co-nominator on the article, and it has been through a Peer Review, of which several people who are experienced with the process gave help. As you opposed my fifth nomination, I would appreciate it if you would re-read the article and give your opinion on how you feel about the article now over at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/S&M (song)/archive10. Apologies! I'm completely new to the FA process so thank you for dropping me that; it makes sense to give time to editors to review and change the substantial changes I made. - Ahh, I have seen some GAs rejected on the basis of edit warring and article instability, so I imagine the FA criteria to be much stricter - I'll have to hope that nothing too major arises. Yes, I love what I've heard of Iggy Azalea (so far); "Work" was very popular here (in the UK) and it pushed me into listening to some of her mixtapes, and they're pretty good! I'm most looking forward to whenever The New Classic is released as her new sound is definitely the best (and one of the reasons why I want to contribute to the article). I also saw The Mrs. Carter Show some months ago and it was fantastic, however, I am quite jealous your opening act is Iggy -- it's a brilliant bonus to Beyonce! —JennKR | ☎ 01:17, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

Bill Lamb
Hi, since when is Bill Lamb from About.com considered "unreliable"? If you just type "Bill Lamb About.com" in Wikipedia's search engine, you'll see that it has been used as a source in several Good Articles (Because of You, Stronger, Paparazzi, Don't Stop the Music, Blow, Bad Romance, What Makes You Beautiful, and many more) and even Featured Articles (Irreplaceable) ! --Sofffie7 (talk) 08:36, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
- (Comment from page stalker) Bill Lamb himself it's a good reviewer, however, the problem is in About.com. Although the source itself it's fine to be used in good articles, it is deemed unreliable for featured articles; thus it should be removed from "Irreplaceable". Cheers! — Tomíca(T2ME) 08:39, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
- (edit conflict)Lamb has no formal qualifications or experience in music or musica journalism. Writing for About.com, a website about a variety of topics with little editorial oversight, does not make him reliable, especially since what he writes is original research. There have been a few discussions at WP:RSN about the reliability of About.com, and consensus is that the reliability of individual author of a page must be established. Contrast with Mark Edward Nero, who has written for The San Diego Union-Tribune, Los Angeles Daily News, The Boston Globe and Pasadena Star-News. All statements relying on Lamb's articles should be removed from Wikipedia articles; I remove them on sight, and encourage you to do the same. Adabow (talk) 08:42, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
- Tomica, Wikipedia's policy on reliable sources applies encyclopaedia-wide. The fact that his articles don't stand up at FAC indicates their unreliability, not their "FA-unworthiness". Adabow (talk) 08:47, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Not really important to New Zealand's culture or history?!
Hi Adabow, I just wanted to challenge your opinion in this edit from a couple of years ago, in which you seem to unilaterally deny any National significance of the Long Range Desert Group. My wife's grandfather served with the LRDG, and I feel very strongly that his memory, and those of whom he served with with distinction, should not be belittled with such a brief brush of the keystrokes by you. I'm only new to Wikipedia, so I don't really understand by what criteria an article is deemed "important" on the Wikiproject New Zealand Assessment importance scale, but the information there does tend to indicate that importance relates to probability of page hits, which has nothing at all to do with your cited "importan[ce] to New Zealand's culture or history". I'm sure that the Royal New Zealand Returned and Services' Association would also refute your description of the LRDG as being "[n]ot really important to New Zealand's culture or history." Lest we forget. AugurNZ ✐⌕ 00:51, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hi AugurNZ. Feel free to change it. I must admit I know little about military history, but I don't think it compares to, for example, Gallipoli Campaign or Anzac Day in terms of importance to NZ as a whole concept (history, arts, geography, science of NZ). Again, feel free to upgrade the importance if you see fit. Adabow (talk) 01:05, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the prompt reply. As I said above, there seems to be a distinct difference between a page's importance to the WikiProject and a subject's importance Nationally. If I were to change the importance of that article, my change may not reflect the probability of page hits that is used to support the page's importance on the WikiProject. However, the simple fact that the LRDG was the forerunner of the SAS should make it important, in my view anyway, both Nationally and to the WikiProject, in and of itself. Sea FAC
Over at the Sea FAC, which has now been running for seven weeks, Snowmanradio has concluded "About seven recently added new sections have not been reviewed by very many people. A lot of the FAC so far has been about the omissions and organisation of the article, and I think that it is only now that the article has become stable enough for the second phase of the FAC, which I think will be like a more normal FAC involving discussion about words, sentences and MoS, rather than omissions of whole sections. I think that a lot can be said for restarting this FAC at this juncture."
The length of the review and the addition of new sections (mostly minor sections such as the Carbon cycle and Ocean basins) are as a result of the many "omissions" that Snowman has detected, some worthwhile suggestions and others not so. A lot of the alterations made were in fact changes of section titles, rearranging sections and the moving of information from one section to another, Since I have found the FAC process quite exhausting, I am not in the least keen on starting all over again. You were kind enough to support the article earlier in the review process. Would you be so good as to indicate on the review page whether its present state still meets with you approval. Run the World (Girls)
The Guardian source does say that Run the Word is seen as the red-herring of the album, see the 1st paragraph:
People complained 4 had too many ballads, it had no hits, it was nothing like the energetic Major Lazer-sampling first single Run the World (Girls). But that track was a red herring – a Single Ladies sequel suggesting ultra-modern glitches and more of the same Sasha Fierce-ness.
—JennKR | ☎ 01:03, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Jenn, yeah I saw that, but it doesn't explain how it is a red herring, or what that even means in this context. A red herring is a "clue" which leads to an seemingly obvious false conclusion. I don't understand what the writer means by this statement. Adabow (talk) 01:05, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, I just reverted by revert because I agree that it's not clear. I think they (and I) have confused this idiom with saying something is the black sheep of something, in this case, RTW of 4. —JennKR | ☎ 01:08, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
Hey
How's it going buddy? Love or hate Bangerz? To me it's just so-so. There are some very boring songs in the album :( The songs I love are "WCS", "Adore You", "Love Party Money", "Drive" :) Btw, while stalking your edits saw [1]. Sorry if I sound stupid (it's been two years since I dropped chemistry, lol). Won't the reduction of an aldehyde give a =CH3 while the reduction with a ketone give =CH2? I don't remember my teacher saying anything about it though. Lol. ごだい (会話) 11:45, 24 October 2013 (UTC)
- I love all those songs, plus "Ball". "SMS" and "Do My Thang" are OK, the rest of the album is throwaway filler though. I think a lot of the success of "WCS" and the album as a whole is due to Mike Will's beats; he is really talented, and I've been following his work for a wee while now. Uhh yeah you're right about the reduction but there would be no observable difference. The purpose of a chemical test is so you can't have to run some sort of spectroscopy to just characterise a functional group. Adabow (talk) 18:12, 24 October 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, "Wrecking Ball", I forgot to add that. The rest sounds definitely like a filler to me. There's no material in them (lyrics wise atleast). You're right. Mike Will is really talented ("Body Party" is one of my favorites). Hey, if you like electro/R&B/dance songs, you should give a listen to Past < Future. Hehe, I'm not promoting it lol. It's one of the best examples for a Japanese album with English beats :D As for the test, yeah. There's no easy way to distinguish them than using spectroscopy, is there? ごだい (会話) 03:27, 25 October 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, "Body Party" is great! Most played song in my library this year. All of Ciara is pretty good to be honest. There are many chemical tests to distinguish between functional groups (eg Tollens' reagent). Adabow (talk) 04:00, 25 October 2013 (UTC)
- It's a good comeback for Ciara. Unfortunately album sales are very low in the US atm and it hasn't sold much :( Yeah, I know about Tollens' test. There's the Fehlings test too to test the presence of aldehydes in compounds. ごだい (会話) 11:04, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

Hey. Are you any good at copy-editing? I'm quite bad at spotting minor prose errors and was wondering if you'd be interested in looking over 4 (Beyoncé Knowles album)? There's no pressure though, if you're too busy etc. then it's fine! Regards. —JennKR | ☎ 18:42, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

Edit warring over numbers
Please don't edit war over numbers. Since both are fine, and the initial contributor and I agree on its long-standing use, please don't edit war -- I disagree that your preference is better. As with dates, where we have two optional approaches, and there is a prior existing one, there is no reason to change it. Nor is there consensus to -- the original author of that and I agree. You simply have a personal preference. Which is not mine. Or the original editor's. Or wikipedia's. And the long-standing use is the one you are edit warring over. Thanks.--Epeefleche (talk) 23:21, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
Awards table
FYI, I just made some changes to the format of the awards table in the Lorde#Awards entry, and then I noticed there'd been previously a bit of edit to-and-fro. I don't mean for my edits to be part of this (I mainly wanted to add the EMA win) so please feel free to change it to a different format, if necessary. Robyn2000 (talk) 20:21, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
- Also - I've had a go at putting Lorde's awards into categories, which seems to be what the awards template is designed for. Take a look, if you like: User:Robyn2000/sandbox#Awards. And I've added it to Talk:Lorde#Awards table Robyn2000 (talk) 21:00, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

DYK for Home Brew (album)
On 25 November 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Home Brew (album), which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Home Brew, the eponymous album by the hip hop group, was promoted by a 48 hour-long release party? Kindness - Swingin Party
Hello!
This article didn't mention the version by Kindness (Adam Bainbridge). He remade it before Lorde did and it's really exceptional. Lorde's version is as well, of course, but I think that it (the Kindness version) deserves to be mentioned on here. I'm not familiar with using Wikipedia so I don't know if I can add it myself or what, but I look forward to your response.
You can listen to the song here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQ-9Mgizpf0

Billboard charts guide
See Wikipedia talk:Record charts/Archive 11#Country charts. It was determined to treat the Country Songs/Country Airplay division separately from, say, the Hot 100/Hot 100 Airplay division since a.) the country industry still gives the airplay chart precedence, and b.) the "new" Country Songs chart established in 2011 is not a "true" component chart in the way Hot 100 Airplay is a component of Hot 100. File upload
Hi Adabow, thanks for your recent edits on Lorde-related articles. I wonder if you could show me how to upload music samples? Thanks — Simon (talk) 05:05, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
- Sure! You need to download Audacity, an open-source audio editing program. Open the file of the song (you need an expansion to open M4A files, which is the default for iTunes downloads). At the bottom of the screen, enter in the length of the sample you want (less than 10% of song, and no more than 30s, per WP:SAMPLE). Try out different start times and play the clip until you get the sample you want. Copy and paste this into a new project (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+N, Ctrl+V). You can select fade in and fade out effects under the "effects" menu at the top. When you are done, click File→Export and choose "Ogg Vorbis Files". Select "Options" and slide the quality down to 0 (per WP:NFCC#3b). Save the file, and upload to Wikipedia as usual! In the Wikipedia Upload Wizard there is an option for audio samples, which provides a template for the relevant data for you to enter. If you're unsure about anything, feel free to ask me! Adabow (talk) 07:43, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

Formal mediation has been requested
The Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "Pure Heroine". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. Mediation is a voluntary process which resolves a dispute over article content by facilitation, consensus-building, and compromise among the involved editors. After reviewing the request page, the formal mediation policy, and the guide to formal mediation, please indicate in the "party agreement" section whether you agree to participate. Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by 14 February 2014.
Discussion relating to the mediation request is welcome at the case talk page. Thank you.

Hello
Hello Adabow and sorry for bothering you again. I want to ask how to move one page through redirecting. For example, the page List of Christina Aguilera concert tours was redirected to List of Christina Aguilera performances. Now I want to move List of Christina Aguilera performances to its original name, but I don't know how to do it. — Simon (talk) 13:40, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
- I'm always happy to be bothered! You can just move over the redirect like a normal page move, unless it has been moved before, in which case you can tag the redirect for deletion with {{db-move}} (if the move is uncontroversial). If there is likely to be disagreement then you'll have to file a WP:RM. The list includes non-tour performances, so I'm not sure why you'd want to move it back... Adabow (talk) 02:01, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
- Hmm, but the problem is that I don't know how to "move over the redirect like a normal page" — Simon (talk) 04:32, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
- It appears differently depending on your skin. See HELP:MOVE for detailed instructions. Adabow (talk) 05:53, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
- Uhm when I moved the page it says that I can not move because the title "List of ... tours" has already existed. — Simon (talk) 08:58, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
- In that case you'll need to add {{db-move}} (with parameters; see template details) to the redirect page. If an admin decides that the move is uncontroversial, then he or she will delete the redirect and move the page. If he or she decides it could potentially be controversial, a WP:RM discussion will be required. Adabow (talk) 16:35, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
- Oh, thank you so much! — Simon (talk) 08:48, 16 February 2014 (UTC)

Drunk in Love
How about we shake hands and work on "Drunk in Love" for a possible GA? It's near that status, for sure. Prism △ 11:11, 16 February 2014 (UTC)
- I'm sorry for the uncivil tone in my comment before. Yep, I'm keen to work on the article a bit this week; after that I won't be very active as university starts on 24/2. I will keep an eye on my watchlist, though. I wouldn't recommend a GA nomination for a few weeks, at least, since the song is still charting reasonably highly and remixes by three high-profile musicians have been released this weekend (Kanye, The Weeknd, Diplo). Personally I prefer to let the dust settle before review, rather than having to so a slightly hasty patch-up job later. Adabow (talk) 11:21, 16 February 2014 (UTC)
- Oh, don't be sorry, I didn't feel bad or anything. :) And sure, we should probably "let the dust settle", though I've started work on the Remix section. Prism △ 11:39, 16 February 2014 (UTC)
Mediation

Request for mediation accepted
The request for formal mediation of the dispute concerning Pure Heroine, in which you were listed as a party, has been accepted by the Mediation Committee. The case will be assigned to an active mediator within two weeks, and mediation proceedings should begin shortly thereafter. Proceedings will begin at the case information page, Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Pure Heroine, so please add this to your watchlist. Formal mediation is governed by the Mediation Committee and its Policy. The Policy, and especially the first two sections of the "Mediation" section, should be read if you have never participated in formal mediation. For a short guide to accepted cases, see the "Accepted requests" section of the Guide to formal mediation. You may also want to familiarise yourself with the internal Procedures of the Committee.
As mediation proceedings begin, be aware that formal mediation can only be successful if every participant approaches discussion in a professional and civil way, and is completely prepared to compromise. Please contact the Committee if anything is unclear.

Hamilton photos
Hi Adabow, hope things are going well for you. When you are on a home visit, would you mind taking a photo of Lake House at 102 Lake Crescent? I'm in the process of expanding the entry for Alfred Cox and he commissioned the house. There is, of course, huge potential for taking photos of other structures registered with the New Zealand Historic Places Trust. You might not have seen this before, but the German Wikipedia has list entries that cover the whole of New Zealand; have a look at the Hamilton list. Schwede66 01:51, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

Re: "Blow"
Will moving Blow (Beyoncé Knowles song) over Blow (Beyoncé song) affect the latter article's history? It appears there is actually more history at Blow (Beyoncé song) than at Blow (Beyoncé Knowles song). I've just not seen that tag before. Is it because you want to move the page and do not have admin status? --Another Believer (Talk) 22:37, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hmm, this complicates things. I think, because there is little parallel history, a histmerge should be reasonably easy for an admin to do. We can't move Blow (Beyoncé Knowles song) over Blow (Beyoncé song); you can only move over redirects that have only been edited once or twice (I'm not exactly sure what the conditions are, but I've tried moving over the redirect and it won't work). Adabow (talk) 22:41, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

- {{Increase}} is used to show how statistics change from a given period to the next, such as List of countries by Human Development Index. It is not used to show "above" 500 m. See also Bill Gates' infobox, who is a businessperson and his wealth is more notable than singers'. If you see other uses of this template and {{decrease}}, I encourage you to remove them. Slight change in the White Album move discussion
The proposed move of The Beatles (album) to The White Album has been altered slightly, to the simpler White Album. I'm letting you know in case you'd like to review your vote. Dralwik|Have a Chat 01:05, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
Glory and Gore / Tennis Court
The only reason AllAccess still has Glory and Gore listed for April 29 is because the site only updates once a week on Mondays/Tuesdays.Eternal baby (talk) 03:08, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
Citation?
Why did you put citation needed in glory and gore and tennis court?....glory and gore has been removed from all access and republic records has confirmed that tennis court will impact chr on april 22...there are already several sources listed in the article for all this info.......so, i dont understand, what more do you need?....what kind of other sources are you looking for?....
- I'm confused; what's the difference between the charts? Erpert blah, blah, blah... 09:09, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
- Compare [3], which lists the top singles sold in NZ in the week, with [4], which distils the top 20 songs by NZ artists from the main listing. Songs (and albums) by NZ artists have the green NZ map icon in the top-right corner. Adabow (talk) 09:33, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
Sigma
Only reason I did cut and paste is because it wouldn't let me redirect the page Sigma (band) to Sigma (group) when actually, they are classed as a group. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hadji87 (talk • contribs) 13:29, 13 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi Andrew? I hope you haven't forgotten me lol :D How's life? University and all? Well, I know you're busy, but can you do a small favor for me? I just finished the article Takako Matsu discography. Can you copyedit it for me? So, what have you been listening to lately? Still stuck on Lorde? :P I like Ariana Grande's songs and also Tamar Braxton. Why, hello there! My name is Tristessa, your friendly neighbourhood mediator from the Mediation Committee. I promise that I don't bite! I'll be the mediator handling your dispute over the categorisation of the Pure Heroine article. I've asked all of you a question about the article on the Mediation Committee case page, and I'd be really grateful if you'd come along and have a chat with me about it, at the following page:
Please do remember that mediation is completely voluntary and, if at any time you don't want to participate further, you can stop being involved. Genres
I edited the genres because they were wrong. For You & I, the genre was given as pop rock which was wrong. It's a soft rock song.and one thing isn't a dance pop song. It's a combination of pop music with elements of power pop and teen pop.— Preceding unsigned comment added by POPROCKSHH (talk • contribs) 07:43, 31 May 2014 (UTC)
- That is only your interpretation, and is considered original research. On Wikipedia we aim to cite sources who are reliable, especially for things that aren't well-defined, such as music genres. Adabow (talk) 08:24, 31 May 2014 (UTC)
Dance Music
Regarding this edit, how exactly is it not a genre? XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 06:08, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- See the Wikipedia article, particularly the "By genre" and "By decade" sections. In fact, the first sentence is "Dance music is music composed specifically to facilitate or accompany dancing" – not genre-specific. Adabow (talk) 06:11, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- I see the article itself has no refs, interesting..... XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 06:15, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's no good, but I think it's absurd to link readers to "dance music", telling them it's a genre beforehand, then giving them a page with discussion of classical, hip hop and rock music, and everything in between. Besides, just think about it: one could dance to any sort of music, which is what this (albeit unreferenced) article is trying to get across. Adabow (talk) 06:17, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation. XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 06:39, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Lorde articles
Hey there. I just wondered if you could work on Lorde-related articles with me? I am keen on Lorde's music, and I can see that you are, too. — Simon (talk) 09:30, 31 May 2014 (UTC)
- I sure am, and I love how much work you are putting into them. I will continue keeping an eye on her articles, with the odd update and reversion here and there. As for heavy editing and pushing articles to GA or FA, I don't think I'll have much time over the next month or so. I am heading into the end of my university semester and have exams coming up. I should have more time in the beginning of July. Adabow (talk) 10:04, 31 May 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, great to hear that! For me I want to make "Royals" and Pure Heroine to FA-status but I won't have done it with your help, so maybe I'll have to wait till July then. — Simon (talk) 13:30, 31 May 2014 (UTC)

Mediaguide
Mediaguide no longer exist nor do their website, please read the EMA's website. It says formerly "Mediaguide". And if you read the website you will see the archives start from May 21, 2013. The previous webcites of Mediaguide have no source included, merely a a chart with no chart name, nothing. Thanks.—CoolMarc 11:24, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- Also, quit stalking my editing, undermining it, and on purposely finding fault with the articles I contribute to, throwing OR accusations around. It's anything but good faith. I honestly don't want to constantly be involved in edit wars with you. It's quite obvious you are going out of your way to work on my nerves on Wiki and quite frankly in the 3 months I've been here, I haven't came across an editor as petty and arrogant as you.—CoolMarc 12:16, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- Um, I've actually been watching that article for a few years, and I have absolutely nothing against you or your edits, nor have I been "stalking" you. How vain of you! Just because a chart company has changed its name, or even no longer exists, doesn't mean that its charts are no longer valid. The Recording Industry Association of New Zealand last year merged with another organisation to become Recorded Music NZ; does that mean we discount all of its previous charts? Adabow (talk) 20:25, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- You are having a hard time understanding the fact I'm stating. It has nothing to do with a renaming. It has to do with charts that no longer exist. Can you provide links for all the previous Mediaguide charts where it actually states Mediaguide in them? Yes thought so. Random spread out webcites that don't even state what chart it is are not WP:RS WP:V and are borderline WP:BURDEN. Whereas, the correct charts have now been archived on the EMA (Mediaguide) website with dates and you can actually visibly see it is in fact a chart provided by the EMA. A singles chart template can even be made for it. If you were so involved with the chart's page why was it such a mess all these years, and why do such little song articles have these random webcites. For an experienced user who reverts with such arrogance, I thought you would be knowledgeable of reliability and notability on Wikipedia. And you know very well you are going out your way to undermine my edits on Wiki. I focus on Iggy's articles and the EMA chart, yet you have thrown around OR accusations on "Work (Iggy Azalea song)", "Black Widow (song)," coincidently tagging Iggy samples as too long. Lectures on digital releases at "Work" and now this edit war about the EMA chart? Don't you have other editing interests on Wiki other than undermining mine? There's a difference between constructive criticism and petty nitpicking. And all this with no good faith intended whatsoever, just arrogance and attitude.—CoolMarc 21:43, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- OK I'm just going to ignore the assumptions of bad faith. The Mediaguide chart was listed at WP:GOODCHARTS until Mediaguide was renamed to EMA. When you say the chart no longer exists, do you mean it is no longer being published, or the chart for previous weeks are no longer accessible on their website? I am indeed having trouble understanding what your issue with this chart is. The fact that the link no longer works is not a valid reason to remove the info, per WP:LINKROT. Adabow (talk) 01:13, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- What I'm saying is yes there are policies of WP:LINKROT BUT if you actually click on the webcites - they say NOTHING about being Mediaguide, nor an airplay chart, there are not even dates for the charts in these webcites. Also there are not even a dozen of these webcites on Wikipedia. And if these charts were legit surely they would be archived on the company's website like the rest of the charts which they aren't. How is it even possible to consider these webcites being WP:RS, WP:V when they are blatantly WP:BURDEN and don't even appear in the new website's archive? It's merely logical thinking, I don't know why you are having such a hard time understanding and accepting this.—CoolMarc 08:07, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- At WP:OKAYCHARTS it reads "The following charts are acceptable and are deemed as reliable sources for use. However these charts do not have a searchable database or are archived by the website. In order to prevent WP:LINKROT, the source must be manually archived using WebCitation or another similar service." By coincidence, there is an archive from the Wayback Machine of around that time which lists the peak for BTINH; I have changed the archive in the article. It is unfortunate how poorly WebCite archives some elements of webpages. However, while this is nice, it isn't an absolute requirement – the WebCite archive showed the source website, which is official and sufficient to verify the information. Adabow (talk) 08:47, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, the wayback archives are much better sources, but only to an extent because only 26 charts have been archived during Mediaguide's entire 3 years of existence. Sure the one archive can say BTINH peaked at 2, but what if it peaked at 1 the week afterward but there are no archives to clarify this. Which in turn is anything BUT reliable or verifiable. Seeing EMA and Mediaguide are the same, why aren't the older charts archived on the site then? Using one random archive to indicate a song's peak for a specific week is not RELIABLE, it is in fact WP:BURDEN because the song could have attained a different peak in a different week but the minor amount of archives on Wayback or WebCite can't PROVE or CLARIFY this because there are so little of these charts archived. I'm not sure how WP:OKAYCHARTS allowed this all these years because it is WP:BURDEN through and through, and the charts are now archived on the site itself, yet these charts aren't anywhere to be found on there. Ultimately, we should be having this discussion with Kww who appears to be on leave (?) But, anyone who has a concept of what reliability and verifiability is will be able to see that using these random webcites is WP:BURDEN for all the reasons I've mentioned above.—CoolMarc 17:56, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

Adabow (talk) 20:25, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- I'm missing something in this discussion. Are people using Mediaguide without an archived link to support it? That's a problem, and I support removal of all such positions. If it has been archived, then the link should be retained: any arguments about the quality of the archival would seem to be irrelevant if the peak figure can be verified. As for the "it could have peaked higher on another date" argument, well, it certainly could have, but if an editor wants to claim it did, the burden is on him to provide a source that supports a different figure.—Kww(talk) 19:12, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Kww: that is the whole issue with these random webcites, it is WP:BURDEN and should not be allowed. As a new editor, I've only recently learned some of Wikipedia's policies, beforehand I would have had no issue with the random webcites. But the fact still stands that they are unreliable and are not a 100% accurate for providing a song's peak on the chart, whereas the archived EMA charts are.—CoolMarc 19:48, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- Your use of WP:BURDEN doesn't make any sense, and your declaration of the site as "unreliable" doesn't meet with our normal use. The site was certainly the best source of such charts, and we accept archivals of reliable sources as being reliable.—Kww(talk) 19:52, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Kww: It is WP:BURDEN in the sense that the user providing the peak from the webcite, is assuming that the song never achieved a peak better than the one in the provided webcite. Normal use? It is through and through unreliable and not verifiable.—CoolMarc 20:04, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- Your logic about peaks applies to virtually every reference to every chart in every article about every song. A lot of charts don't include data to support peaks and only list individual positions. If you think a song charted higher than it did on an archived link, feel free to search for a reliable source that indicates that it charted higher.—Kww(talk) 20:08, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Kww: you're still avoiding the real point I'm making. The of lot charts you're referring to actually have their charts reliably archived on their websites. Whereas Mediaguide's reliability and verifiability for the three years it was active under that name is based on 24 random webcites on the Wayback Machine? You must be kidding to consider that normal use and reliable, nevermind verifiable.—CoolMarc 20:42, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- Inconvenience is not an argument against reliability. The chart is/was based on actual national data. Adabow (talk) 23:07, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- You guys can beat around the bush all you like, but the fact remains is that those random charts that have been archived = WP:BURDEN and are not WP:V for song peaks on Wiki. I can repeat myself over and over and over. Maybe I should start typing in bold? Yes it is a RS, BUT IT'S THE WAY THE SOURCE IS USED THAT MAKES IT UNRELIABLE, AS IT DOES NOT VERIFY ANY FACTS. Yet you guys consider its use normal? Its use is against Wikipedia policies lol! They aren't even archived on the company's website for crying out loud!—CoolMarc 00:39, 6 June 2014 (UTC)
- What, so you would argue that any link that has rotted should no longer be used to verify information, even if there is a stable archive of the webpage? Which policy/ies are you asserting that the use of this source violates? Adabow (talk) 01:18, 6 June 2014 (UTC)
- Are you even reading what I'm saying because I keep repeating myself over and over again. I have no issue with WP:LINKROT whatsoever BUT IT'S THE WAY THE SOURCE IS USED THAT MAKES IT UNRELIABLE, AS IT DOES NOT VERIFY ANY FACTS. The archive only accounts for 1 of 200+ plus Mediaguide charts that have NOT been archived, you can't make a fact out of that as it does not verify (policy WP:V) nor does it accurately account for the info given (policy [[WP:BURDEN). How is it stable in any way? Using 1 random webcite to account for a song's peak on a random week is not STABLE, it is not reliable it merely your own WP:POV because all the other weeks vanished charts do not exist to account for the song's real peak, EMA have even decided not to archive them on the website!—CoolMarc 02:18, 6 June 2014 (UTC)

So your issue is with the fact that since not every single week is archived we cannot prove that it didn't peak higher? I am absolutely reading what you are saying but I am having trouble understanding it. The source is reliable and verifies that the song reached number two. Also, the burden is on others to prove that it did peak higher if they contend that it did so; I have added a reliable source verifying the number two position and have fulfilled this burden of proof. Adabow (talk) 02:56, 6 June 2014 (UTC)
- "the burden is on others to prove that it did peak higher if they contend that it did so" - the thing is no one can do that because there are no charts available to prove this lol! Hence the normal use of these charts are so unreliable, can you also give an explanation as to why the EMA only archives from May 21, 2013? Can you also explain the inconsistencies in Mediaguide's charts - where in some cases 3 songs peak at the same position in the same week lol! WP:LINKROT does not promote unfair use, which is exactly what this is. You prove nothing with that webcite, you might as well put in brackets in the chart table - song may have peaked higher although we can't prove this as the because of source inconsistencies. I don't why you guys are beating around the bush so much to defend the use of a few random webcites when their use is such a mess to begin with. THE CORRECT CHARTS ARE ARCHIVED ON THE COMPANY's WEBSITE. Why can't we accept this, make a singles template for it and use them, as they are VERIFIABLE, RELIABLE, HAVE NO INCONSISTENCIES - where as these webcites are THE OPPOSITE and should be DETESTED for normal use.—CoolMarc 07:55, 6 June 2014 (UTC)

Help with an article
Hi Andrew, hope you're doing well. I know you don't like Japanese music that much but, I worked so hard on the article "Ashita, Haru ga Kitara"... and it's been a long time since I last worked on a music article, so I'm not sure if it meets the criteria or not (things sure have changed). So, would you mind casting an eye over the article and telling me what you think about it, is the lead okay etc. Please do let me know if you are busy and so you can't. Ryoga (talk) 04:40, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
- Weird-shaped cover art for a CD... The tracklisting, personnel and charts and certifications sections are a bit ambiguous as to which version they relate to. Perhaps place the rerelease section last? Otherwise, great work! No major prose errors jump out at me, but I am quite tired! :P Adabow (talk) 09:50, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
- Haha, yes :D It's an 8cm single, which was very popular in Japan at that time. Thanks for taking a look, I'll move the re-release section as you suggested. Hope it wasn't any trouble :) Ryoga (talk) 11:11, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

Billboard Twitter Real-Time: Revision history; deletions of Wikimedia images for a "plus" and Twitter logo
I'm fairly new to Wikipedia, you say the images were non-free, but they are available for use on Wikimedia Commons? Images are my biggest headache, so far. I think they represent exactly what these charts are; not just Billboard, but a collaboration with Twitter. I'm easy going...what do you say?--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 04:17, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, I had no idea what the purpose of those images were, as they were uncaptioned. File:Twitter circle.png is indeed non-free; I've nominated it for speedy deletion at Commons. Billboard + Twitter is a bit artsy, and not really an encylopaedic representation of the "Real-Time" charts. Adabow (talk) 05:49, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
I do recall that one of the images did not read properly for license, but I'm clueless. And yes, it was my futile attempt at art to match their combined logos from Wiki. commons, they actually use the "plus" symbol in between the two. Maybe I'll venture a screen capture, which I see is vogue now with editors. Thanks --Bonnielou2013 (talk) 14:56, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
Regarding the GA listing
.. and this revert, actually I noticed that the Gaga singles are listed in the year they were released as singles, like "LoveGame" and "Paparazzi" were listed under 2009 even though the parent album, The Fame, was released in 2008. So do you think we should change and move them to 2008 as well? —Indian:BIO · [ ChitChat ] 15:52, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, definitely. They should also be listed in Category:2008 songs. I suppose there are probably over 100 song GAs listed in the wrong year section... Adabow (talk) 22:24, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

Beyoncé (Plat edn.) cover
Hello, I removed the Beyoncé platinum edition cover from the article as I don't think it meets the guidelines for inclusion:
If the album has been released with different album covers, they can be added to the infobox using this template. However, per WP:NFCC#3 use of non-free content is to be minimal, and not to be used if one item can convey equivalent significant information. An alternate cover that is significantly different from the original and is widely distributed and/or replaces the original has generally been held to pass this criterion.
The cover is the exact same as the original except with a small banner in the top-right corner that says "platinum", I think for inclusion, the guidelines stipulate that such a cover should be substantially different from the original . Regards, —JennKR | ☎ 10:29, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- I have replied to your deletion request at Commons; that file is free, so WP:NFCC do not apply. Adabow (talk) 10:36, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks. However, I still disagree with its inclusion in the article. I think the two covers are too sufficiently similar, and the addition of the platinum cover superfluous when we have the original. The guidelines say generally that Covers that are essentially similar, despite differences in colouring, poses, text, etc, should not be included. —JennKR | ☎ 17:08, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- Fair enough, but that doesn't mean that it needs to be deleted from Commons. Adabow (talk) 01:38, 16 November 2014 (UTC)

"Bravado" promotional single from The Love Club EP
Recently, I have discovered that The Love Club EP was not only released in NZ, Australia, US, Netherlands but also in various countries, where "Bravado" was also released (Finland, Switzerland, Germany Austria...). Thus I am going to remove Tennis Court EP as the parent album of "Bravado", but I am not sure what do you think? Simon (talk) 03:29, 19 December 2014 (UTC)
- The Amazon and CDfon pages stipulate that those copies are imports, and therefore do not verify release in those countries. It would surprise me greatly if TLCEP was released in other countries without a digital release (e.g. via the iTunes Store). Adabow (talk) 04:09, 19 December 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Chinese Food.jpeg
A tag has been placed on File:Chinese Food.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. –Davey2010Talk 17:12, 22 August 2015 (UTC)
Please advise why the Mama Do video edits were reverted
Hi there - wondering what the reason for reverting edits re Mama Do video were. Thanks ! DustyTheStar (talk) 04:05, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
- Firstly, per WP:ELPOINTS, external links should very rarely be included in the main body of an article. Secondly, the video is not very important to the article as an external link. Thirdly, linking to someone's personal Facebook page seems somewhat invasive to his privacy. Adabow (talk) 04:10, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
New Zealand Certifications
Hello Adabow. I linked here from WP:CHARTS. Just wondering if you still have access to the book that lists NZ certifications up until 2006? I'm trying to confirm if the song Don't Say You Love Me by M2M was certified gold there. It would have been either late 1999 of more likely sometime in 2000. Would you be able to check for me? Any other information about the song (or about M2M or any of their other recordings)) in said book would be helpful; all I know about it in NZ is that it peaked at No. 4 in the weekly charts; does the book say whether it made the year-end charts? Thanks for your time; let me know if you would like a hand with anything in return. :) Freikorp (talk) 14:03, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Freikorp, I'll try to remember to check for you tomorrow. Adabow (talk) 06:47, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi again. Sorry to be on your case but this article is in the queue for DYK now and i'd like to have the issue clarified before thousands of people read it, so just a friendly reminder about it. No worries if you can't get the information in time though. Freikorp (talk) 09:25, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry about the delay. According to Scapolo, neither of the M2M songs that appeared on NZ charts had been certified by the RIANZ, as of 2006. Adabow (talk) 21:26, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hmm, i'm surprised since it had the same peak position in Australia (where it was certified) as it did in NZ. Thanks for letting me know. :) Freikorp (talk) 23:01, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

On the subject of NZ certifications, has any of Maroon 5's songs from Songs About Jane been certified up until 2006? I imagine "This Love" being the only song certified, but I can't say for sure. ThedancingMOONpolice (talk) 22:12, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
- I'll have a look. Adabow (talk) 09:11, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry about the really late reply. The academic year is just wrapping up and I've been really busy. No songs were listed as certified. Songs About Jane was certified septuple platinum. Adabow (talk) 06:59, 4 November 2015 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for January 3
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Kiwi Regional Airlines, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Napier. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
