- I am flattered! :D Sorry, I can't upload any samples right at this moment, as I am using my laptop. I will try to put them up in the next few days, though. GBY needs a lot of expanding; add critical commentary, in-depth commercial performance and any background info. Do you have the album? If so, add the personnel/credits like Love in This Club Part II#Credits. Keep up the good work! —Andrewstalk 22:55, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
I don't have the album, i can add some critical, commercial depth AdabowtheSecond (talk) 11:57, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

DNA nanotechnology back at FAC
I wanted to let you know that DNA nanotechnology is up for a second FAC. Your comments on the first FAC were very helpful, and I've made extensive upgrades to the article since then. I'm hoping that you'll revisit the article for this second FAC. Thanks! Antony–22 (talk⁄contribs) 21:04, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

GAN subtopic
Thanks for sorting out a GAN subtopic for John Fraser (botanist), I'd initially thought to put him in the sciences since he was a botanist, but the GAN subtopics listed there do not include botany. The next-closest subtopic was Horticulture and forestry, under Agriculture, food and drink, so that's where he landed, heh. — Sctechlaw (talk) 02:33, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

- Thanks Andrew! :) And, omg, school's top student! :O That's a great achievement *jealous*. Haha, kidding. I'm very happy for you :) Have you decided which course to select in uni? I'm doing pretty good too. Although I couldn't get into engineering college, I'm currently doing a Bachelors in Computers. After finishing it, I'd go for Engineering :) 五代 (talk) 12:56, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
- I'm doing a Bachelor of Science; my first year-papers will be in biology, chemistry, maths and statistics, and I have one last paper to choose which is probably going to be physics. My major isn't definite, but I'm leaning toward biochemistry. Is your degree focussing on the programming side of computers, or more on using them/application of computers? —Andrewstalk 20:22, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
- Biochemistry is very good. One of my friends in Tamil Nadu opted for biochemistry, I think. My degree's called Bachelor of Computer Application (which is a part of BSC) and it has both theory and programming but the former is given more importance, I think. We have a semester system and my first semester is over. We had to program using C (a very old language and kinda boring). I can't wait to study .NET, Lisp and Java. I also wish to study JavaScript, CSS, and XML someday :) 五代 (talk) 04:29, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

Name
I'm tired of being "theSecond" and using your original account name. As I have told you before, I named myself after you because I had a profound admiration for your work. Regardless I feel I should be more original so I'm changing it. Do you know how? How do you actually feel about my account name? —AdabowtheSecond 01:46, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
- You can change your username fairly easily at WP:RENAME. I'm not really fussed about it; I don't feel "ripped off" or stolen from, but if you feel you want to be more creative and original then feel free also. :-) Adabow (talk) 04:04, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
- Already requested it, thanks nevertheless. Your generally a well known editor. I feel like I'm confusing and drawing unnecessary attention from an ensemble of editors. I once got called "Andrew" in an edit summary. I corrected the user. Thanks for being so sensible about my apparent lack of originality . —AdabowtheSecond 05:22, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
Speedy deletion for File:Haane Manahi.jpg
RE your request for speedy deletion, I don't know if it is enough but I have added the webpage copyright information (http://natlib.govt.nz/about-this-site/copyright-and-privacy) for the government website from which this image was sourced to the its description field. Zawed (talk) 05:15, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
- That licence only applies to Crown works published on the site ("Aside from collection items"). The photographer died in 1966 so the copyright won't expire until 2017, unless there is evidence that he waived copyright or released it under a free licence (which I doubt). Adabow (talk) 05:23, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick response. George Bull was an official photographer for the NZ Military Forces so the photo was taken in his official capacity - in which case ownership of his work would be with the Crown; perhaps I should have used the PD-NZ tag as I think maybe exception B would apply here? And to clarify, is the information at the bottom of the source page (under Using this Item) of the image insufficient for the requirements of Wikicommons? It obviously doesn't indicate what tag should be used which I guess is your concern? Cheers. Zawed (talk) 05:50, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
- You may be right in saying that, because it was taken as part of the NZ Defence Force work it is PD in NZ (not sure, but sounds good), however the file must be PD in the US as well. In the US only items published before 1923 are PD. Adabow (talk) 06:17, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
- I'm left with the conclusion that the tag I have used for the image is appropriate; the photographer was employed by the Crown, so therefore his work is owned by the Crown (according to the 1994 Copyright Act). The Crown makes the work available on the natlib website with the CC 3.0 licence; should I amend the image description to better reflect that Bull was an official photographer and remove the speedy delete tag? Zawed (talk) 07:15, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
- Ohhh, I see now. Yes, that sounds good; good ahead. Sorry for the confusion. Adabow (talk) 07:45, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
- No problem - my knowledge around what is an appropriate licence for a particular image isn't the greatest so this debate has been useful in improving my understanding. Cheers. Zawed (talk) 07:50, 27 December 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Albertine deluxe.jpg)
Thanks for uploading File:Albertine deluxe.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Main page appearance: Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)
This is a note to let the main editors of Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on February 14, 2013. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/February 14, 2013. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask featured article director Raul654 (talk · contribs) or his delegates Dabomb87 (talk · contribs), Gimmetoo (talk · contribs), and Bencherlite (talk · contribs), or start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you can change it—following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. The blurb as it stands now is below:
"Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" is a song by American recording artist Beyoncé Knowles from her third studio album, I Am... Sasha Fierce (2008). It was the album's lead single alongside "If I Were a Boy", contrasting Knowles' persona as herself and her aggressive onstage alter ego Sasha Fierce. Inspired by her secret marriage to Jay-Z in April 2008, the song explores men's unwillingness to commit, a topic that motivated Knowles to write "Single Ladies". It is a dance-pop song with R&B, dancehall, disco and bounce influences. According to the lyrics, the female protagonist is in a club to celebrate after a recent end to a poor relationship; her former lover is also present. The song and the repeated refrain, "If you like it then you should have put a ring on it", are directed to him. Critics praised the song for its smooth production. "Single Ladies" won three Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year. It peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The accompanying music video was shot in black-and-white and features the J-Setting dance choreography inspired by "Mexican Breakfast", a 1969 routine choreographed by Bob Fosse. The award-winning video has been parodied and imitated around the world. (Full article...)

WikiProject Good Articles Recruitment Centre
Hello! Now, some of you might have already received a similar message a little while ago regarding the Recruitment Centre, so if you have, there is no need to read the rest of this. This message is directed to users who have reviewed over 15 Good article nominations and are not part of WikiProject Good articles (the first message I sent out went to only WikiProject members).
So for those who haven't heard about the Recruitment Centre yet, you may be wondering why there is a Good article icon with a bunch of stars around it (to the right). The answer? WikiProject Good articles will be launching a Recruitment Centre very soon! The centre will allow all users to be taught how to review Good article nominations by experts just like you! However, in order for the Recruitment Centre to open in the first place, we need some volunteers:
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing this program bring new reviewers to the Good article community and all the positive things it will bring along. A message will be sent out to all recruiters regarding the date when the Recruitment Centre will open when it is determined. The message will also contain some further details to clarify things that may be a bit confusing.--Dom497 (talk) This message was sent out by --EdwardsBot (talk) 14:47, 9 June 2013 (UTC) |
