Have you checked WP:RUS before moving? Do you realize that the move is not policy-based and was done on a request of a user with less than 10 edits who previously tried to insert their favorite spelling to the article and was reverted - well, on the basis that their change was not policy based.--Ymblanter (talk) 14:48, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks, much appreciated. The user is welcome to start a move request.--Ymblanter (talk) 14:52, 29 October 2018 (UTC)

Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- You can post proposals for the Community Wishlist Survey. The survey decides what the Community Tech team will work on. You can post proposals until 11 November. You can vote on proposals from 16 November to 30 November.
- The wikis now have a content security policy report. This means that you might get a warning in your javascript console when you load external resources in your user scripts. For security reasons it is recommended that you don't do this. It might not be possible to load external resources in your scripts in the future. [1]
Problems
- Your watchlist can show which changes you have already seen. This did not work for a few days. It has been fixed. [2]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 30 October. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 31 October. It will be on all wikis from 1 November (calendar).
- The 2006 wikitext editor is no longer available. It will be removed from Special:Preferences. It has not been the standard editor for a long time. It was replaced by the 2010 wikitext editor. [3][4]
Meetings
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 31 October at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.

User page protection
Hi Abelmoschus Esculentus! After catching an LTA account trolling through one of your user pages moments ago, I went through most of your user space and added indefinite semi edit and move protection to each of your user pages to stop any further trolling and abuse by other sock users like this. I applied indefinite extended confirmed edit and move protection to a few of your "front-facing" or "public-facing" user pages as well (including your main user page). If you find that the protection I've added interferes with anything or prevents you from being able to do something, let me know and I'll be happy to fix or remove any protection I applied if you wish. I just wanted to leave you a message and let you know about the troll edits and the protection I applied following the event. Cheers! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:01, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Oshwah: Thanks a lot for your help again! I think it’s ok to protect them since there’s no point for IPs and vandals to edit it. ―Abelmoschus Esculentus 06:25, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
- That's what I figured while I was going through and adding protection around your user space... the only person that would be editing them is you (lol). Your quite welcome! Cheers ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:26, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Oshwah: Actually I made a huge mistake! I accidentally thanked one of their edit (I was supposed to thank a revert by another user) and lead to this situation. What a shame! ―Abelmoschus Esculentus 06:44, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
- HA! Oh well... I've accidentally done it before, myself... it happens... :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:58, 30 October 2018 (UTC)

Hi. You left me a message earlier today warning me this page would be deleted, but it's already gone. I would have copied it into a text file on my personal machine but I can't. It's already gone. Can you restore it for me please and then maybe I can have more than just a couple hours before it redisappears? Much thanks. Thmazing (talk) 22:40, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
- Hello, again. I just saw that it was not you who acted on the warning and made the deletion. I've put in the restoration request, but anything you can do to help that happen, I will appreciate.
- Hi you can just go to WP:REFUND ―Abelmoschus Esculentus 23:34, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
Speedy deletion
Hi. I've declined your speedy deletion request at User talk:Mq-TW.QR-WL1H, as we pretty much never delete user talk pages, not even those of socks - we need to keep them for the record. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 12:44, 31 October 2018 (UTC)

Edit filters
Hello. I wanted to bring something small to your attention. While your help at Wikipedia:Edit filter/False positives/Reports is appreciated, please limit your help to filters which you can actually see. Your response here was not correct as the filter was not working as intended. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Thanks. Nihlus 20:59, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
Reporting users
Please don't report users to AIV when people are actively blocking them like at the Teahouse especially with usernames like the last couple. It then means we have to go back and clean that page up also. We are staying on top of it without the reports. ~ GB fan 14:52, 1 November 2018 (UTC)

R188 subway cars
Dear Abel,
Please note that the R188 cars are basically R142A cars with the same WABCO RT96 braking system found on all new NTT trains. The WABCO RT5 aka P-wire braking system was discontinued many years ago, due to its troublesome, unreliability, and difficulty of maintaining same. Why should they use a troubled-prone braking system from the 1970's on these new NTT cars ???

Hi! Your page User:Abelmoschus Esculentus/cv-revdel.js is showing up in Category:Requested RD1 redactions, presumably because it contains a call to {{copyvio-revdel}}. Recent changes
- You can now use TemplateWizard to edit templates. This works only with the 2010 wikitext editor and not in the visual editor or the 2017 wikitext editor. If you click on you can enter the information in a pop-up. You can turn on TemplateWizard in your beta feature preferences. [5]
Changes later this week
- You can choose to see edit conflicts in a two-column view. This is a beta feature. You can find it in your preferences. The interface for the two-column edit conflict will change. You can read more.
- When you edit with the visual editor you can use the "Automatic" citation tab. This helps you generate citations. You will now be able to write plain text citations or the title of a journal article or a book in this tab. This will search the Crossref and WorldCat databases and add the top result. [6]

Hi, Abelmoschus! I thought you would not have been active here at Wikipedia. I also have a doubt about what this is about: Web SourceContent was also known user, with first main contribs, and were growling presence here and on ro.Wikipedia. But on September 27, Bbb23 decided to block it as sock of Daciproteasa09 (blocked/locked account). I just did do demonstrate what different account doing, as well known vandals does. It's pretty to know what happened and if I had the feeling of presenting to the one who wanted to know the practices of meaning. If you whish to clarify when it was blocked, you should reply this comment. Thanks in advance! 109.98.164.214 (talk) 12:01, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
