Recent changes
- Some old mobile browsers can use the watchlist again. This has not worked for a while. These browsers are called grade C browsers. This helps for example Windows Phone 8.1 with Internet Explorer and Lumia 535 with Windows 10. [1]
Problems
- You can choose to see edit conflicts in a two-column view. This is a beta feature. You can find it in your preferences. Users who use this view saw the edit conflict resolution page when they wanted to see a preview. This has been fixed. [2][3][4]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 13 November. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 14 November. It will be on all wikis from 15 November (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 14 November at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- You can use the content translation tool to translate articles. The developers are working on a new version. One of the changes will be a maintenance category. Articles where users add a lot of text from machine translation without changing it will be in that category. This is so the community can review it. The users will also have been warned before they publish the article that it has a lot of unchanged text from machine translations. [5]

GA topicon
I'm wondering why you have a GA topicon for Hong Kong, which passed GA long before you registered this account. Is this your first account? I noticed you also had another topicon for a Iggy something song too, but apparently it was removed since. Are these topicons errors? L293D (☎ • ✎) 17:19, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
- @L293D: Oh I thought that is for a GA you’ve contributed to. I’ll remove it. I have one previous account but I have abandoned it for 2 years. ―Abelmoschus Esculentus 23:14, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

Young Blood Transfusion Page
Hi, I have resubmitted the changes I made to the Young Blood Transfusion page with the references you requested. Can you check it for me. Thanks! --Hedgehogsrock (talk) 15:45, 14 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Hedgehogsrock: No you didn't. There's an article for this already - Young blood transfusion. You think we will accept copy and pasted drafts?
That's too naive.Write your own article and submit it instead. ―Abelmoschus Esculentus 11:58, 15 November 2018 (UTC) - I'm not trying to submit a new article. I'm trying to edit the existing one - Young blood transfusion. Maybe I'm not doing it in the right way, which doesn't make me naïve, just new to editing on Wikipedia. I thought people like you were here to help. If you would like to be more constructive, I would appreciate it. Basically, if you compare the two pages, you will see the changes I have made, along with all the necessary references (most of which are already on the page). --Hedgehogsrock (talk) 14:19, 15 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Hedgehogsrock: Then why don't you edit the page directly? The page is not protected. Feel free to edit it by clicking the "Edit" button on upper right corner. In case you don't know, you have submitted the draft to Articles for Creation, a process which reviewers review submitted drafts and determine if they are suitable for being a mainspace article. I'm sorry if you feel offended. Regardless, I recommend you to join the Wikipedia adventure, a great "tutorial" for beginners, and please do not submit drafts to AfC like that anymore. If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the Teahouse, the Help Desk or experienced users' talk pages. Happy editing. ―Abelmoschus Esculentus 14:30, 15 November 2018 (UTC)
Hello there, Have you noticed that this one is not a biography but an article about a TV show? You can not use BLPPROD on such articles. I guess it's an error from your end as BLPPROD is only for biographical articles with zero sourcing. Thanks. Hitro talk 14:04, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
- @HitroMilanese: Oh seems I didn't notice that it is not a BLP but a TV show (I don't know why). Removed the BLPPROD tag. Thanks for your reminder. ―Abelmoschus Esculentus 14:07, 18 November 2018 (UTC)

鉴于所谓“共識(consensus)”问题,我停止对所有Ymblanter的照片修改,不过对所谓“分裂性的修改”,“個人圖片集”的指责,我很遗憾。--Tyg728 (talk) 03:33, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
(Translation) Regarding the “consensus” problem, I have stopped editing Ymblanter’s photos (??), but I feel disappointed about the accusations such as “disruptive editing” and “personal photo collection” ―Abelmoschus Esculentus 06:23, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
- (Translation) Let me make things clear - it is totally appropriate for you to be bold to change the photos, but if someone cintested your actions and want to discuss the matter with you, then you should not persist your own opinions and neglecting others’ thoughts (WP:DE). We should seek consensus (I’ve explained this to you). Also, there is a rule called the “Three revert rule” in English Wikipedia which forbiddens usersperforming 3 reverts on a single page within 24 hours, and violators will be sanctioned. I suggest you and Ymblanter to discuss before you edit anything. ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (alt) (talk to me) 06:11, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Ymblanter: 此车站的无柱站厅很有特色,增加站厅的照片,编辑中没有去除你的照片。How about this change?--Tyg728 (talk) 14:06, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
- (Translation) @Ymblanter: The pillarless concourse of this station is special. [I] added a few photos of the concourse without removing yours. How about this change? ―Abelmoschus Esculentus 10:12, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
ArbCom 2018 election voter message
Hello, Abelmoschus Esculentus. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 2 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

data. This is to make it easier to find the right information with a search engine. This changes the metadata for a wiki page. It doesn't change how the page looks. [6]
Changes later this week
- There is no new MediaWiki version this week.
Meetings
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 21 November at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- The Wikimedia wikis use templates to show readers there are problems with the content on some pages. For example if there are no sources or the page needs to be rewritten. The mobile website will soon show more information when you use these templates. Some templates may need to be updated. [7]
- The Education Program extension was removed from all Wikimedia projects. The database tables used by the extension will be archived. This will happen in a month. If you want the information on your wiki you should move it to a normal wiki page. [8]

IP Banned
Hey mate, I was scrolling through a wikipedia post when an info box popped up and said I had 4 unread messages, and when I clicked on the link I noticed that it said my IP had been banned, for an edit on an article I had never seen. I thought you should know that this IP is not a real IP, just a VPN connected through the Psiphon3 application. As this IP will be recorded I will not write it down but I thought you should know that this is one (of many) IPs that are used by the Psiphon3 Application. Sorry for the inconvenience, and it doesn't affect me in any way (my IP will change again next time I connect) but I thought that it would be helpful for you. Thanks for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 175.38.60.98 (talk) 12:39, 25 November 2018 (UTC)

Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- On wikis with translatable pages you could create a mess when you moved a page that had translatable subpages. A subpage is when you use
/
to create a new page:/wiki/Page/Subpage
. The subpages would be moved but not the translations. The subpages are no longer automatically be moved. This is to make it safer to move pages. [9]
Changes later this week
- The advanced search interface will be available by default on all Wikimedia wikis. It makes it easier to use some of the special search functions that most editors don't know exist. It's already active on German, Farsi, Arabic and Hungarian Wikipedia. [10]
- Special:UnusedCategories show empty categories with no files or other categories. You can soon choose to not show soft redirect categories or some maintenance categories there. You can do this with the magic word
__EXPECTUNUSEDCATEGORY__
. [11] - The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 27 November. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 28 November. It will be on all wikis from 29 November (calendar).

Indefinite block
From the user posting this: Give me an indefinite global block. I'll be very proud. I've been told my edits were bad but back then that wasn't their intention. After all, no edit isn't vandalism (right now). Just give me no chances. I know that those edits were made not to vandalize or disrupt Wikipedia but treat me as a person deported from a major country.211.27.126.189 (talk) 10:25, 18 November 2018 (UTC) No jokes.211.27.126.189 (talk) 10:32, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
- IPs should not be indefinitely blocked. Rules are rules and they ought to be followed. We seek consensus here. If you continue to edit without (against) consensus and refuse to participate in the discussion, then it is regarded as disruptive editing. You are proud of your incompetence in following simple rules and ask for sanctions as if you're the only rational one? ―Abelmoschus Esculentus 10:39, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
- My point is that I feel like my edits have been looked too much on the negative side. I tried replying that those edits weren't made to make things bad (some vandalism on my talk page and admin noticeboard because those warnings made me quite angry is all I did to make something bad on Wikipedia on purpose) but that was pointless, contrary to what was expected from me.
- BTW I don't have interest in a username (in case you thought it would be better which is quite reasonable), so I'm not sure how long I could be blocked for. Now it seems like IP accounts mostly stay unblocked, and when that's not the case, the block is usually very short (maybe over within 24 hours of coming into effect).
- PS 123.243.100.66 as an IP account for Wikipedia is also the same person in real life.
- Finally, I don't feel so angry now that I've been typing so much but I need something on my talk page or at least very easy accessible. A way to tell whether an edit meant for the better is actually for the better. IF you've seen empty information on games in the 2018 World Chess Championship (as in the Wikipedia page), that thing I want to get will probably dissuade me from putting such information on the same or similar articles every again. In fact, I think an edit from me or 123.243.100.66 should always be assumed as good faith (what I mean when talking about an edit which doesn't actually improve, but has no bad intention).211.27.126.189 (talk) 10:56, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for expressing your opinion. Although your edits are made in good faith, as I've said before - they must adhere to policies. I totally understand why you added those frameworks in World Chess Championship 2018, but since Fbergo objected your edit, and you continued to revert neglecting the opposition (thus violated the three revert rule), CaradhrasAiguo took the most appropriate action - report to the edit warring noticeboard.
- In case you don't know,
<!-- TEXT -->
act as a reminder or note, readers cannot see the "TEXT" as it is hidden. - The article appears to be a current event, many editors are paying attention to it, so there is no need to remind yourself add the missing information as soon as possible where the events have not happened yet. - I have no interest in adding the framework now that its pointless given a few users disagree. Lesson learned. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.27.126.189 (talk) 11:37, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, your report is still at the edit warring noticeboard. Good luck ―Abelmoschus Esculentus 11:39, 18 November 2018 (UTC)

I've seen the report but I think I don't need a block (in my opinion, and you're not the user reporting me).211.27.126.189 (talk) 11:46, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
- What do you mean by "I don't need a block"? It should be the reviewing administrator who decides whether or not to block, not yourself. You are welcome to comment in it. ―Abelmoschus Esculentus 11:48, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
I'm not trying to officially decide whether I'll be blocked (which doesn't even make any sense).211.27.126.189 (talk) 11:54, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
- My block is over, and I think your username (no offence) is also a scientific name. Right?211.27.126.189 (talk) 09:31, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
- Not that scientific. I just like it. ―Abelmoschus Esculentus 10:15, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
- Hope you can really learn from your block and edit constructively. Happy editing. ―Abelmoschus Esculentus 10:18, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
- BTW I used a user talk page to send someone a link to a related article talk page and said it was spam. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.27.126.189 (talk) 09:18, 27 November 2018 (UTC)
