The false positive is simple enough, caused by the nickname Dick. However, I'm not comfortable enough that the edit is actually an improvement to perform it for you. Are you able to make the request on the talk page? I'd encourage you to do that. Thanks. —Compassionate727 (T·C) 23:42, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

@Mr. Guye: Literally all that filter does is check for triple parenthesis. To that effect, it catches exactly what it is supposed to. Not sure what this has to do with the alt-right (MusikAnimal may be able to enlighten us), but I don't see that anything requires action. It was a bad edit, and it is just a warning, after all. —Compassionate727 (T·C) 01:09, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
- It's tagging as "possible" vandalism. If it's not, don't worry about :) The triple parentheses is an indication of labeling some subject as being antisemitic (originated by the alt-right), which according to the logs is still an ongoing vandalism trend. You could improve the filter by using a negative lookahead/behind to make sure there are exactly three surrounding parentheses. I quickly tried this with no luck, but I'm sure it's possible — MusikAnimal talk 01:53, 18 July 2018 (UTC)

[[:File:Pegging cropped.jpg|thumb|left|A BDSM activity can, but need not, involve sexual acts. Graphic shows a female pegging a male submissive doggy-style using a strap-on dildo.]] Reason I was trying to add this image is that sexual activity is often a part of BDSM. It's strange that not even one image in BDSM article depicts a sexual act.

- Hermetic Seal (filter log)
- Description
- added the adjective "basically" to the word "airtight". It was said that the seal was airtight, but yet air and other gases weren't counted toward the airtight seal. That's ridiculous for the definition of airtight is that no air can escape! So by definition the hermetic seal is not airtight, but close to it....so "basically". Now perhaps a better word could be used, but I cannot stand idly by to such a blatanty poor usage of the word "airtight" with the destruction of the word in parentheses! Its an oxymoron and so I tried to fix it best I could by using the word noted above (basically). If my choice was poor then at least I will bring attention to the discrepancy that is obviously there. Please correct it, whether using "basically" or another completely different, just correct it please. Thank you.

- That's not the meaning the author intended. "Excludes the passage of..." as in, "these things are excluded from passing through." As in, "this is literally the definition of 'airtight'". But I will admit that's a weird false positive, so I'll take a look at that filter. Someguy1221 (talk) 04:41, 20 July 2018 (UTC)

- Description
- Edit the page to include information about his most recent town meeting, and I had three sources sited. Here is what I wrote:
On July 18, 2018 at a Town hall meeting Wagner called 18 year old, Rose Strauss, "a little young and naive", when she asked about global warming, and money he received. He turned the question to a 2013 Wall Street Journal article about the City of Harrisburg and how ancient and outdated the infrastructure was in 2013 and said he wanted to discuss what was mentioned in the article about the sewage treatment plant that can not handle all the rainwater and the sewage, so they discharge raw sewage into the Susquehanna river.
The Wall Street Journal Article he mentions refers to, Bottom Falls Out of Debt-Ridden City, dated January 31, 2013, discusses the debt used to retrofit a state-of-the-art trash incinerator, and mentions the City of Harrisburg financially struggling to upgrade a sewage treatment facility. On February 11, 2015 there was a City of Harrisburg Clean Water Act Settlement, where the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced a proposed partial settlement with co-plaintiff Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the City of Harrisburg and Capital Region Water to resolve alleged Clean Water Act violations involving sewer overflows and discharges of polluted stormwater to the Susquehanna River and Paxton Creek.

- Margaret Hodge has been reported as calling Jeremy Corbyn 'a fucking antisemite and a racist'. She denies the swearing part but the swearing was widely reported in the media, thus I have included it, but the computer program denied it, incorrectly I feel. As the article refers to her denying swearing already this
A) doesn't make any sense unless you include the swearing b) the article doesn't need any further editing once you include the swearing, as it already includes her denial of doing this.
Ultimately there will be an investigation so leaving what she has been accused of, and her denial, is the only logical way to proceed. The way it the article is now-no swearing and her denial of swearing, makes no sense. Until the investigation is over the accusation should stand as it has been recorded.
In short there has been an accusation (of her swearing and calling him racist), there will be an investigation and ultimately a determination of what she said but till then the accusation must be recorded, not censored.

- Tried to change the article to use proper semantics instead of common vernacular. It is not technically possible to circumcise a man; he can undergo the procedure of circumcision, in which his penis is circumcised by the cutting the foreskin. In this case you can assume 2600:1008:b152:664b:8c2a:6212:4e4b:c2f2 and this IP are the same person. Also, IP, I made the edit for you. —Compassionate727 (T·C) 23:04, 24 July 2018 (UTC)

Well, IMDb doesn't fly with our reliable sources policy. Can you provide another source? —Compassionate727 (T·C) 23:05, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
- Even in the actual charity website, the performers list doesn't include this person. Obviously IMDb was tricked or vandalized. [1] In fact, there is no mention of a "Tony" at all in the page for that year's performance. EggRoll97 (talk | contribs) 00:20, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
No, although not included on the Royal Variety Charity site, Tony did perform and is clearly visible in videos. Understand the scepticism given his unfortunate name.

@DoctorSpeed: I could use some additional information. First things first, were you using the Content Translation tool to perform this edit? —Compassionate727 (T·C) 23:28, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Compassionate727: Yes, I was. I have been using it for the past six months now, and I published around 10 translated articles, with my latest successful publish being a week ago. DoctorSpeed (talk) 00:38, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
- @DoctorSpeed: So, there's a number of weird things happening here. I'm not sure why you have been allowed to use Content Translation tool in the past; you aren't supposed to be able to (you can read about that here). I can only assume it worked in the past because the filter uses the edit summary to detect the use of the tool, so if you changed the edit summary, the filter wouldn't have tripped. I don't know why you got the borked warning message that you did; the message is supposed to be mediawiki:abusefilter-warning-cx, and that's what loads when you hit the preview message button in the filter. Furthermore, when I look at your history in the abuse logs, there are several instances when it says that this filter merely warned you, when you report being consistently disallowed (which is what its supposed to do) and the filter has been in disallow for many months. Pinging to MusikAnimal because he does most of the stuff with this filter and he's smarter than me. —Compassionate727 (T·C) 02:55, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
- Actually, MusikAnimal has done a couple of things and Xaosflux has done most of it (plus he's also smarter than me), so pinging to him too. —Compassionate727 (T·C) 03:03, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
- The filter is set to both warn and disallow, this way we can put up a custom warning on the first attempt. So when it says "warn" in the logs it still stopped the edit. Going by tags, DoctorSpeed has only made one use of the Content Translation tool here on the English Wikipedia, and the filter would have matched that except that it was used to edit a page, not create a new one (as with
old_size == 0
) — MusikAnimal talk 03:56, 25 July 2018 (UTC) - So this is not a FP, as WP:CXT is supposed to be blocked for editors that are not extendedconfirmed, as MA says it is based on edit summary as the primary catch - it also only triggers on "new pages" as of about a year ago when MusikAnimal modified it, and only triggers in article space. So use to clobber an existing article appears allowed (and was done once by this user). Bottom line, not a false positive. However, I'm a bit interested in the error message being poorly displayed - what editor and device type were being used? — xaosflux Talk 11:31, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux: Can't say. However this account has been buggy since I registered. For instance, every time I log on I get notifications informing me that someone broke into my account or repeated failed attempts to enter into my account, however I see no activity on my account since the last time I logged on (it was not me). Additionally, I have published a few other translations as well. It is strange to see that it does not come into my history, however the article does in fact exist. It might just be a bug. Case closed! DoctorSpeed (talk) 17:21, 25 July 2018 (UTC)

- I was adding a bunch of citations and some content in the form of a mass paste in. So I'm actually not sure what triggered the filter (probably the pages where I cite the bible passages?) and I've never seen this before so I thought it would be useful to report it since I was shown the option and learn what source got flagged and possibly get an error corrected.

@Rap Chart Mike: It was the book that Lulu published. May I be nosy and ask why you copy-pasted a bunch of text in? —Compassionate727 (T·C) 20:57, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up on that source. I'll find a better one today
- As far as why paste in en masse? Sometimes I edit like that. Only on a pretty inactive page that requires a bunch of work. I find that method for at least the initial edit push is really useful to accelerate my process and lets me work multiple pages at the same time. Sometimes I will chunk it in and sometimes it all goes at once, really depends on what I'm working. There was an ANI related to me doing it and the administrators involved concurred that as long as the attribution chain was intact it is an acceptable practice and they used to encourage people to edit in that fashion. It has seemed atypical to a lot of other editors though. Smaller edits and more active pages certainly need the more typical treatment to avoid mass reversions due to small errors on my part and reach an appropriate consensus for big changes on contentious or heavily edited stuff. However, in cases like this page where it hasn't been touched in a while and interest seems to be waning slamming a bunch of content in tends to spur others to look at it and make further improvements past what I do. Rap Chart Mike (talk) 12:35, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
- That makes sense, I do it sometimes myself. I was just making sure there weren't any copyvio problems. —Compassionate727 (T·C) 21:59, 27 July 2018 (UTC)

- This looks like a good contribution, mostly just seems to have tripped the filter because of the size. I don't know if there's anything else that affected this filter-tripping, so I'll leave the decision to the edit filter people. EggRoll97 (talk | contribs) 01:05, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Cohn-jesse: You were using the content translation tool, which is disallowed on the English Wikipedia for newer users, basically because they import articles from other Wikipedias, many of whose articles don't meet the English Wikipedia's standards, without cleaning them up. This seems to sort of what happened here, although it's not as bad as some. I've copied your edit to Draft:Single-kitchen building. Finish translating the templates, for one thing, and I have some concerns about the commonness of unsourced statements (I can provide further details if you want me to elaborate). Once you are ready, you should submit to AFC to get the opinions and feedback of an experienced reviewer. Let me know if you have any questions. —Compassionate727 (T·C) 02:09, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Compassionate727: Hello -- there were some areas (e.g., quotations and bibliographic references) that the translation tool wouldn't allow me to edit, for some reason (maybe these are the templates to which you refer?). Wasn't aware that English Wikipedia had different standards than Wikipedia in other languages; I wouldn't mind help going through this and refining it, if you're so inclined!

- Description
- Hello, this is RUE4533 and JHHN8878. I apologies, I am very new to wiki editing and I believe my incompetence is what triggered the filter. I don't have any intentions to vandalize. The first time I tried to create this page as RUE I accidentally published a blank page, I believe this is what first triggered the filter because after that anytime I attempted to create the page it wouldn't let me. I thought making a new account (JHHN) would fix this, but the same thing happened again. I then pleaded my case in "False Positives" and people thought that I was creating multiple accounts so that I could vandalize even though they admitted the page looked fine. Someone even outlandishly accused me of posting "Harambe memes" which is not true. I now tried to create the page under a new account because the others were banned. Please look over the page I created, it took me a lot of time, I included legitimate references.

@WRRE4767: Yeah, this has been a large misunderstanding. I apologize for the confusion, and for the fact that your first two accounts were blocked. You were blocked for using multiple accounts. This isn't in and of itself against Wikipedia's policy, provided you don't use them inappropriately; you can read the details at Wikipedia:Sock puppetry. I myself requested help from the Checkuser who blocked you because I wasn't sure whether this was a case of long-term abuse. It turns out it wasn't. The stuff about vandalism was referring to the filter that prevented you from editing; apparently, there's some ongoing vandalism trend regarding an Internet meme (similar to Harambe) that the filter is designed to prevent. Your edit was fine, and it's tripping of the filter was a false positive. Anyway, I've made the edit for you now. Since your original accounts are banned, your editing with this account technically constitutes block evasion. I'm not going to complain, but if you don't want to run the risk of being blocked again without notice, you should appeal your current blocks. I have asked Bbb23 on his talk page to consider unblocking you; hopefully he will be willing to do this. Because it is a Checkuser block, such things are more difficult to appeal; if he doesn't agree, you'll need to email your appeal to the Arbitration Committee. Provided you are unblocked, you should pick one of these three accounts and use it exclusively going forward. That will help to avoid further problems. Best wishes, —Compassionate727 (T·C) 02:54, 29 July 2018 (UTC)
