- Description
- An edit to the "Rising Popularity" section to correct ascribing of a quote currently ascribed to James Jamerson, when the proper author of the quoted material is Allan Slutsky. A note: previously I removed the quote entirely, thinking it was an attempt at vandalism, but after doing more research I see it was in the book cited, but neither the quote nor the book was cited appropriately. The quote was re-added, and when I attempted to correct it, it was disallowed.

Soccer is one of the most popular sports in Europe and the Americas. It has a vivid and interesting history in the world of sports. Early evidence of soccer being played as a sport finds occurrence in China during the 2nd and 3rd centuries BC. In China, it was during the Han dynasty that people dribbled leather balls by kicking it into a small net. Recorded facts also support the fact that Romans and Greeks used to play ball for fun and frolic. Some facts point to Kyoto in Japan where kicking of ball was a popular sport. It is said that early growth of the modern soccer started in England. Some amusing facts even mention that the first ball used was the head of some Danish brigand. It is said that during medieval times, the old form of soccer used to allow many ill practices like kicking, punching, biting and gouging. The main aim was to carry the ball to a target spot. People grew so fond of the game that they would throng the field all day long. Sometimes the competition grew fierce and masses got so wild that there were frequent incidents of violence during the game. It is also said that soldiers admired the game so much that they missed archery practice to watch it. King Edward III banned soccer in 1365 owing to the growing incidents of violence and military indulgence in the sport. In 1424 King James I of Scotland also proclaimed in the Parliament— "Na man play at the Fute-ball" (No man shall play football). When and where exactly did soccer start is a question that has no precise answer to it. You can easily say that this popular game has been played for more than three thousand years. The nativity of modern-day soccer must be credited to Britain. It was also known as the association football, with Scotland and England being the co-founders of the systematic game of soccer. Modern History of Soccer: 18th Century Onward In 1815, a major development took place that made soccer popular in Universities, Colleges and Schools. The popular English School and Eton College came forth with a set of rules, known as the Cambridge Rules. Football was segregated into two groups; some colleges and schools opted for Rugby rules that allowed tripping, shin kicking and also carrying the ball. These rules were exclusively prohibited as per the Cambridge rules. King Edward III banned soccer in 1365, owing to the growing incidents of violence and military indulgence in the sport. The history of modern-day soccer was established in 1863. In October 1863, eleven representatives from London clubs and schools met at the Freemason’s Tavern to set up common fundamental rules to control the matches amongst themselves. The outcome of this meeting was the formation of the Football Association. In December 1863, the Rugby Football and Association football finally split as the supporters of the Rugby School rules walked out. Firmly establishing the foundation of soccer in 1869, the Football Association strictly banned any kind of handling of the ball. Soccer’s popularity spread rapidly during the 1800s as British sailors, traders and soldiers introduced the sport to different parts of the globe. TItalians, Austrians and Germans drew to Europe, while Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil adopted the sport in South America. FIFA was established in the year 1904 and by early 1930s, different leagues were operating from various countries. FIFA is credited with organizing the first world cup in Uruguay. The history of soccer is rich with events, development and its growing craze all over the world. You will find yourself amazed as you learn about different times of this wonderful sport that has held our awe and admiration for over 3000 years. |

- The filter stopped you because you were using ~~~~ as a way of formatting the page. Unfortunately, this is not technically practical; our software converts four tildes into the signature of whatever editor last edited the page (I'm typing it at the end of this comment), and to get it to appear as four tildes, you'd have to add a bit of extra coding that wouldn't be helpful. Please use a different kind of formatting. Nyttend (talk) 12:22, 29 June 2015 (UTC)

- This is precisely the kind of content that it's supposed to stop, since virtually all edits adding multiple occurrences of "shit" are vandalism. Of course, you were adding it appropriately (I've added it for you), but situations like this are quite rare; I can't imagine how the filter can be trained to accept this kind of edit without accepting lots of vandalism. - Description
- So I was trying to point out that white people might go extinct. Not being racist btw. But I can't post it somehow. I'll just leave the post here:
We are so rich and individualistic that we don't create much offspring anymore. White people get on average maybe one child. Not even mentioning the mixing with other races. If nothing happens we will die out or get heavily mixed up with other races. I mean, arabs for example still create huge families like seven children per woman so they might be much more represented in the future. I'm not trying to be racist though (FYI).
So I was wondering: would it be worth mentioning in this article if I could gather some reliable sources or no?

Rape
375.—(1) Any man who penetrates the vagina of a woman with his penis —
(a) without her consent; or
(b) with or without her consent, when she is under 14 years of age, shall be guilty of an offence.

- I was responding to a user suggesting that Pedophile was not the correct term (though he did not note which term should be used)
I'm assuming that you're implying the correct term is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hebephilia ? I'm sure you're technically correct there, but that's the worst kind of correct. Pedophile is commonly used to refer both to the meaning literally defined by it's Greek language roots (child lover), but also to refer to someone attracted to those under the age of consent. I misread this and thought for a second you were saying the correct term was "moletrouser." I mean absolutely no offense, but it was close enough to molester that my mind went there.
I tend to get a lot of false positives on bots because I generally have knowledge related to controversial topics. So far all of my edits that were reverted by bots, have later been approved. Example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garry_Hoy Previously noted that in Permanent Midnight Jon Stewart is high on heroin while jumping at windows. When I changed heroin to crack (which is correct), it was reverted. I keep having to fight for little changes like this. It's making using wikipedia difficult and unenjoyable. I'm sticking with it for now, but I'm hoping to get this fixed. This may seem like trivial stuff, but a society needs it's janitors just as much as it needs its pundits and sculptors and engineers.

I would like to remove all instances of ismirth from the wiki if possible, and change them all to anonymous. I will just recreate a new user name in the future once I have the stalker situation taken care of. Thank you.

I added to Daniel Liebeskind's wikipedia entry the fact that his family moved to Kibbutz Gvat in Israel in 1957 and then to Tel Aviv. And that living on kibbutz influenced Libeskind's concern for green architecture. I gained that information from Libeskind's own autobiography which I cited as my source: Breaking Ground: An Immigrant's Journey from Poland to Ground Zero

- I'm teaching Aviators99 the difference between non-WP:RS blogs, and actually-WP:RS references. This particular false-positive was about a Japanese website; neither of us speaks Japanese so far as I know, and I thus used a machine-translation service to convert the snippet of Japanese we are discussing at present, per fair use law, from a much longer internet document. Prolly the false-positive was triggering on some of the machine-mangled-"English"-translation-from-the-original-Japanese, since the filter-error alleges "talk page abuse" of User:Aviators99 by myself. Thanks.
