Bulk RfD nomination
There are around 179 redirects to OmniScriptum that I'd like to nominate at RfD. Is this something that can be done through AWB, if I paste the list and the rationale here? (I'm not entirely sure how this is supposed to work and am going off a 2015 discussion that I never followed up that indicates it's possible.) – Arms & Hearts (talk) 19:41, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Arms & Hearts: I'll do it if it just involves adding the RfD template. ― Qwerfjkltalk 19:50, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Arms & Hearts: Yes, this can certainly be done. Please create the nomination first (with the list of pages), so that the correct section can be linked to, and then let us know. @Qwerfjkl, this would probably also include notifying the redirect creator(s). Tol (talk | contribs) @ 20:57, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Tol: I thought so. I could still probably do it, but I'd rather leave it to someone more experienced in this area. I'll happily do this if there's a low enough number of redirect creators so it can be done manually. ― Qwerfjkltalk 21:00, 12 January 2022 (UTC)

- Idea: Floating out a general idea about the topic, would a bot that can routinely do this be helpful? I've seen many similar requests here before. 🐶 EpicPupper (he/him | talk) 22:44, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hmm, perhaps. I think a better solution may be an OAuth tool, so that users can make the edits on their own accounts. If it were a bot, then either the bot operator would have to take requests and run it manually, or the bot could be run by any user and potentially misused. - Just saw this now, but I have a bot with general approval for addition of XfD notices. Ping me and I can run it whenever. I guess it's possible to do some kind of system to allow others to run it, but that's more effort than I feel like putting in right now. --Trialpears (talk) 01:13, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

User:1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 08:19, 18 January 2022 (UTC)- Twinkle has some activity. I've written about 25 patches for it the last few months, and SD0001 is active reviewing and approving pull requests. Just make sure there is an open ticket for this feature request in GitHub, and comment on it to help bump it/bring it to our attention, and we'll look into it. If there is no ticket, please create one. –Novem Linguae (talk) 14:46, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

Replacing one type of list with another
See this discussion for more background, but basically I need to check various parameters of an infobox and replace any uses involving {{plainlist}} or <br>
with bulleted entries. I've been going back and forth with various coding options to figure this out, and through a combination of lack of time and not really sure what's going wrong I haven't been able to figure it out. I've already got a module setup where I have each param pulled out of the infobox call already, so really it's just a case of finding an AWB-module-style code that checks the parameter value in each KeyValuePair against the requirements listed above. Many thanks for anyone who can help. (please do not ping on reply) Primefac (talk) 20:56, 8 January 2022 (UTC)

Case corrections in about 17000 tennis articles
I have a JWB settings file with robust replace patterns to fix over-capitalization in nearly 17,000 tennis articles. Is this something for which someone has a bot that we could seek approval for? See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Tennis#Cleanup edits and User:Dicklyon/Tennis cleanup JWB JSON. Or should I take this to bot requests? Dicklyon (talk) 04:45, 3 February 2022 (UTC)

CfD rename implementation
Hi, I closed the CfD discussion at Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2021_December_4#Recording_artists as rename using XfDcloser, and the outcome wasn't implemented automatically. The categories to be renamed are:

- Category:Artists by Japanese record label to Category:Recording artists by Japanese label

Bot to correct around 250 Start articles from 2010 about dams in India
In 2010, 250 pages were generated on Wikipedia relating to dams in India. https://xtools.wmflabs.org/pages/en.wikipedia.org/Suresh.andhale lines 1 to 252, less a few disambiguation pages, links them. All I have checked so far have transferred cubic volumes from referenced source material to the article incorrectly, changing units of 1000 cubic meters into cubic kilometers. The dams therefore appear in the articles to be larger than they are in fact. JohnHarris (talk) 17:49, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- Can you correct one of the articles then provide a diff here? Would be helpful for visualizing the job. –Novem Linguae (talk) 17:51, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- @JohnHarris, @Novem Linguae: I moved this because only ~250 articles are affected. ― Qwerfjkltalk 17:56, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- @JohnHarris, something like
/\{\{[Cc]onvert\|(\d+)\|km3/
→{{Convert|${1}000|m3
should do this. If you provide a list (plaintext preferably), I'll fix these. ― Qwerfjkltalk 22:06, 15 February 2022 (UTC)

Module:Location map/data/Sool, Somaliland was renamed to Module:Location map/data/Sool. 24 items have to correct.[1] We have to change Infobox settlement parameter "| pushpin_map = Sool, Somaliland" to "| pushpin_map = Sool." Add category header templates to categories
Please add following templates to mentioned categories:
- Template:Roman Catholic churches completed in year category header to all subcategories of Category:Roman Catholic churches by year of completion
- Template:Roman Catholic churches completed in decade category header to all subcategories of Category:Roman Catholic churches by decade of completion
These templates are working fine and tested on Category:Roman Catholic churches completed in the 1710s and Category:Roman Catholic churches completed in 1710. Updating format of WTA IDs
If someone could please (regex) replace "(\{(WTA|wta) ?(profile)? *\| *\d+)\/[^\|\}]+(\||\})" with "$1$4" for the articles in Category:WTA template with ID different from Wikidata, that would be appreciated. Only the numeric part of the WTA IDs has been needed for some time now, and this will bring these few articles with the old ID format in line with their items on Wikidata and the rest of the player articles on Wikipedia, thus clearing this maintenance category. Replace obsolete ITF IDs
All 1300 articles in Category:ITF template using numeric ID use obsolete ITF IDs with Template:ITF profile. For example, Justine Henin has {{ITF profile|20010490}}
which links to https://www.itftennis.com/procircuit/players/player/profile.aspx?playerid=20010490, a dead link (HTTP 500 error) that used to redirect to the new profile but does no longer. Fortunately, every article using this old ID format has the new format attached to their Wikidata item, which can be pulled just by using the template without parameters: {{ITF profile}}
. I've checked through Wikidata queries that all the new IDs are there and correspond to the old ones currently used in the articles, so all that needs to be done is to replace "\{\{ *[Ii][Tt][Ff]( (fe)?male)?( profile)? *\|[^\}]+\}\}
" with "{{ITF profile}}
" for all articles in that category. Most players' articles already pull these IDs from Wikidata (Category:ITF template using Wikidata property P8618), so this is nothing new. Thanks, Letcord (talk) 05:11, 7 April 2022 (UTC)

Habsburg Monarchy --> Habsburg monarchy move cleanup case fixes
There are about 267 articles in which overcapitalization of "Habsburg Monarchy" is visible in the displayed article, which should eventually be changed to "Habsburg monarchy" per the RM consensus there. Some are plain unpiped links, easy to replace with an explicit pattern, and some are not part of links, and need to be distinguished from occurrences in filenames (e.g. File:Flag of the Habsburg Monarchy.svg, File:Habsburg Monarchy 1789.svg, and others) and reference titles (Fall of the Habsburg Monarchy, Reassessing the Habsburg Monarchy, maybe more). They need to be watched carefully for more filenames and ref titles, so not bot-suitable (unless someone is a wiz at regular expressions for such things). A list of candidates can be generated by files linking to Habsburg Monarchy or Habsburg monarchy -- and there may be others that use the term without linking. There a few weird cases like Relief of Cetingrad which has "Habsburg Monarchy Army" that should be changed to be not a pretend proper name, perhaps as "Habsburg army". I'm about to go away for a while so won't be able to keep working on this move cleanup. Dicklyon (talk) 20:58, 6 April 2022 (UTC)

Railroads in...
Could you start with Special:Allpages/Rail transport in and create "Railroads in..." redirects for every place that has a "Rail transport in..." page? If "Rail transport in" is an article, "Railroads" should redirect to it, and if "Rail transport in" is a redirect, "Railroads in" should redirect to the same target as "Rail transport in". For example, Railroads in Belize would target Rail transport in Belize because it's an article, and Railroads in Bahrain would target Transport in Bahrain#Railways because Rail transport in Bahrain already goes there.
There are a few "Railroads in" pages, such as Railroads in Mexico, so before you start creating pages en masse, those titles should be removed from the list you're working with. 49.198.51.54 (talk) 02:11, 20 April 2022 (UTC)

- To be quite honest, I'm not far enough in with AWB to know how to properly do that. I would also argue against removing empty parameters so as to encourage others to fill them in. Many editors aren't aware of all the parameters that each infobox may have. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:17, 25 May 2022 (UTC)
- Well, as for the benefits – that's debatable. They are not forbidden, but in general their usefulness is questionable. We even have tracking categories for blank parameters: Category:Pages using infobox event with blank parameters. And many of these parameters will never be filled anyway for 98% of infoboxes (current year portal / subgenreslist / footnotes), so I usually delete them when I edit infoboxes. (And those who don't know about all the parameters would rather use the visual editor, which shows all the existing ones and corrects formatting errors. And those who edit code are more likely to find a complete list of them) Anyway, I ran AWB from A to C myself with removing them, but you took the initiative further, so it's too late to argue anyway :) Solidest (talk) 13:33, 25 May 2022 (UTC)
- Definitely debatable, as you said. I can see where you're coming from in your stance, and both sides of it, except for 1 point you mentioned regarding the visual editor. I do not use the visual editor and I'd say at least two thirds of my edits are related to the NFL, and at least half may be related to updating the NFL infobox parameters on articles. I still don't know every parameter but I do make the effort to fill blank ones in that I find when I do see them while editing.
- As you mentioned there's a maintenance category for the empty parameters, so you can still remove them if you'd like to. It's just not something I'd prefer to do for the reasons I mentioned. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:53, 25 May 2022 (UTC)

A request
I am making many edits with AWB on one of the projects that are not in the English language. In one of those projects, I realized that the {{PAGENAME}} function—which is used on thousands of pages—doesn't need to keep in the pages, and I removed it as mass. However, this—along with the deletion of the function—resulted in the same templates being left on the pages. I'd like to clean up them.
To clarify the situation

- No, @Novem Linguae. I guess I can do this cleaning with a module, but I can't write code. Basically, deleting one of the same two templates on a page --like that, as I've mentioned above. --Victor Trevor (talk) 08:08, 16 June 2022 (UTC)
- Are the templates always right next to each other and separated by a line break? Could possibly do a regex replace. Search:
/(\{\{([^\}]+)\}\})\n\{\{\2\}\}/
, replace with $1. Would need a list of affected pages to plug into AWB though. RegEx101. –Novem Linguae (talk) 08:14, 16 June 2022 (UTC)- I am not sure the exact. I've seen a few revisions that weren't separated by a line break, but it was rare.

Abbreviation redirects for months "month year" format
I've worked on this a little today and quickly realized this is a pretty stupid waste of time for me to do manually when I don't have access to the autowikibrowser. Jan Feb Mar Apr Jun Jul Aug Sept Oct Nov Dec (not including May, since no abbreviation, already 3 letters) then the year do not redirect to the appropriate article in any instance, it seems, based on the few I checked. So now the ones I did today - Jan 1900 to Dec 1902, and only "Jan" - no other months - for years 1903-1949. might be the only ones existing. so there are 119×12=1428 articles that should have these redirects from 1903-2022, minus the Januarys to 1949, so at least 1382 needed. Format "Jan 1950" redirect to article "January 1950", other examples "Oct 1964" "Dec 1979" "Feb 2010" "Sept 1989" "Aug 1990" "Jul 1932" "Jun 1924" "Jan 1974" "Sept 1937" "Mar 1944" Led8000 (talk) 03:13, 15 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Led8000, I don't have time to do this now, but I'll try to get it done by the end of the day. ― Qwerfjkltalk 06:06, 15 June 2022 (UTC)
- Why? Why do we need this many redirects? Primefac (talk) 09:25, 15 June 2022 (UTC)
- I'm also not sure that this is of any benefit, but if it is:
- Should we target the month where it exists and the year section where not? (E.g. Mar 1973 → March 1973 but Mar 1974 → 1974#March because March 1974 is a redirect.)
- Do we want Sep, Sept or both?

Afghanistan flag change post-Taliban takeover being disruptive on pre-takeover articles (need cleanup)
Hi all, Template:Country data Afghanistan was updated with Taliban's flag as the default following Afghanistan's takeover by them. But articles before takeover should not show Taliban's flag. I see Ashraf Ghani's name alongside Taliban's flag at Template:International military intervention against the Islamic State infobox, while it should use the flag of Ghani's government. There were more such articles I've come across before. If someone can do the cleanup work with AWB, that'd be great. Just add the correct year parameter at the end. None of the articles in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Agro-Industry Complex have received a deletion tag, except for the header article Agro-Industry Complex. I have redirected one of the remaining pages out of process, and it is possible that the same has happened to the others. In tagging the rest of the articles, you may leave a notice of which pages have been tagged or deleted out of process. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 01:05, 2 August 2022 (UTC)

Mass categorisation/revert
Category:Gandhians has been recreated per WP:REFUND and needs to be repopulated. This can be done by reverting every edit by JJMC89 bot III from this edit (07:39, 4 August) to this edit (07:48, 4 August) inclusive (232 edits in total). Can this be done using AWB? If a list of articles needs to be provided I can do that. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 14:21, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
- If you made a page with links to all the articles, it should be pretty easy to add the category to each of them. VanIsaac, MPLL contWpWS 15:30, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Arms & Hearts, Done via Cat-a-lot and Writ Keeper's massRollback script, both of which can work on contributions lists. ― Qwerfjkltalk 15:33, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
- Many thanks Qwerfjkl. That saves me a lot of faffing trying to turn the contributions into a usable list. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 15:40, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Arms & Hearts, maybe I should restart this at some point. ― Qwerfjkltalk 15:47, 6 August 2022 (UTC)

At this CfD, it has been requested that talk pages of templates in Category:WikiProject New York City Public Transportation templates be tagged with {{subst:WikiProject New York City Public Transportation}}
if they are not already in Category:Template-Class New York City public transportation articles. There are about 200 candidates for merger. See the CfD for details. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 19:01, 10 August 2022 (UTC)
- I'll get started on this for you. Hey man im josh (talk) 20:59, 10 August 2022 (UTC)
- @LaundryPizza03, how'd you get only 200? I'm finding 508 that are not in the destination category. Hey man im josh (talk) 21:07, 10 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Hey man im josh, can you ping me when you're finished? I'm planning on closing the discussion, and it'll be easier if this is taken care of. ― Qwerfjkltalk 21:12, 10 August 2022 (UTC)

- Done. Pinging @LaundryPizza03 and @Qwerfjkl. Approximately 500 pages have been added to the requested category by adding the WikiProject tag. Hey man im josh (talk) 22:11, 10 August 2022 (UTC)

This slang term should not be used in section titles; please replace it by "References". 1234qwer1234qwer4 15:46, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
236 pages in a bulk RfD
I just opened Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2022_August_20#3000s, which covers 236 decade redirects to Timeline of the far future following the deletion of 6100s at RfD. All of these should be RfD tagged. It is not necessary for the redirects to point to the section, since every RfD nomination includes an anchor from the name of the redirect. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 21:39, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
- Can you link to a diff with the exact code you want added to these pages? VanIsaac, MPLL contWpWS 21:44, 20 August 2022 (UTC)

73 Redirects in bulk RfD
I just opened a RfD Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2022_September_1#Bus_garages_in_London, covering 73 redirects. I have tagged the first one but the remainder need tagging. Could someone please save me by using AWB to tag these all? Many thanks. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 16:12, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
Move my talk page archives
The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
I recently adopted ClueBot for old manual talk page archives and I think the reason why the bot isn't archiving correctly, is because my talk page archives are of the form User:Andrevan/Archive54 but ClueBot wants them to be more like User talk:Andrevan/Archives/1. Could someone move all my User:Andrevan talk archive pages to User talk:Andrevan with the same number so I can get ClueBot to archive in a way consistent with my old manual archives? Andre🚐 05:54, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
- Might be worth posting at
User talk:ClueBot III/ArchiveThis orHelp talk:Archiving a talk page or WP:VPT to see if someone can just fix your User:ClueBot III/ArchiveThis template. In theory|archiveprefix=User:Andrevan/Archive
should cause the desired behavior, so there must be some other little thing somewhere throwing it off. –Novem Linguae (talk) 06:36, 10 September 2022 (UTC)- OK, I'll try that. I posted to User talk:ClueBot Commons previously. Andre🚐 06:41, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
- I looked into doing this in AWB tonight just in case. I created a list of pages to move at User:Novem_Linguae/sandbox. Looks like the AWB person has to be an admin to use AWB's "move" button though, per Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/User manual#Start. –Novem Linguae (talk) 08:53, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- I can help with the page moves using User:Ahecht/Scripts/massmove as I have pagemover right. Please let me know if you would like me to do that. —CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {C•X}) 10:04, 11 September 2022 (UTC)

- For future reference @Novem Linguae, User:ClueBot III#Required parameters, says This parameter must be set to a fully qualified page name under the page you wish to archive, which I did not understand correctly when I set it up, thus this mass rename being needed. Thanks! Andre🚐 19:35, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
