Thomas Wallace (RAF Officer)
Hi Zawed. You have probably noticed that I have been checking military history project contest entries for the past few months. The talk page history of Thomas Wallace (RAF Officer) shows it was start at the beginning of the month and you improved it to B. If I am reading this correctly, this would make it a +5 for the contest. If so, would you like to change the entry from none to start? If I have this wrong, such as reading the scoring table wrongly, please let me know so I can keep it in mind for the future. Thanks. Donner60 (talk) 21:32, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks Donner60, you are correct. I had the correct points total in the scoreboard table but when I added my entry to the article table, I cut and pasted the entry above, and just rewrote the name of the article without amending the article value. Bob Davidson
Hi, I wondered whether you might be able to establish whether Group Captain Bob (Robert Tremayne Pillsbury) Davidson has an article or is mentioned anywhere? A Canadian ace, I was reading through a career summary of his, here, which includes being the only Canadian pilot to shoot down a plane from every Axis power and fighting with the French Resistance. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 16:20, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- I don't see any articles for him. He is a red link at List of World War II aces from Canada but that is under his full name (I would probably name it "Robert Davidson (RAF officer)" since it seems most of his notability is derived from that service rather than the RCAF), and maybe he could be worked into one or more articles for the squadrons that he commanded. Looking to dip your feet in WWII articles? Zawed (talk) 08:13, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
- I would certainly like to delve into the Second World War, but I'm afraid my sources aren't good enough. I own hardly any useful works on the war, and don't believe reliance on internet archive would work. We'll see what I can manage... Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 20:32, 5 July 2023 (UTC)

my story today |
---|
Thank you today for the article, introduced (in 2020) as about "a New Zealander who was awarded the Victoria Cross (VC) for his actions as the commander of a Q-ship during the First World War. Q-ships were merchant ships that acted as bait for U-boats which would approach on the surface but then be targeted by hidden guns. It was hazardous work and in this manner, he and his crew engaged U-boats on a number of occasions. He and his crew was killed in action in 1917."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:29, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks Gerda! Zawed (talk) 08:41, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
- Today, it's a place that inspired me, musings if you have time. My corner for memory and music has today a juxtaposition of what our local church choirs offer. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:39, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
Wikiproject Military history coordinator election nominations open
Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election have opened. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next coordination year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting will commence on 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the current coord team. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:05, 2 September 2023 (UTC)

Undefined sfn references in Bunny Currant
HI, in recent edits to Bunny Currant you introduced sfn references to "Rawlings 1976", but there is no such work listed. This means that nobody can look up your references, and the article is added to Category:Harv and Sfn no-target errors. If you could supply the missing reference that would be great. DuncanHill (talk) 13:11, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
- I went to bed after doing those edits and woke up this morning with the realisation I had forgotten to add the Rawlings book as a reference. I login to add it in before anyone notices and discover it is too late! Doh! Another editor has added the book anyhow. Cheers, Zawed (talk) 22:02, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
- All's well that ends well! Interesting article BTW. DuncanHill (talk) 22:19, 8 September 2023 (UTC)

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay
Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.
Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.
Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
- Just wanted to follow up with you. As you know, I'm a great fan of your work. I've never met you in person, unlike many of the other reasonably active Kiwi editors. Could this interest you to come along to? Would be fabulous to see you in Golden Bay. Schwede66 23:39, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
- I would love to attend, particularly so I could meet yourself and other editors, but unfortunately won't be able to make this. Zawed (talk) 05:41, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
