[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Sexbeatrecords", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it appears to violate ORGNAME, per your own edits at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shakir Pichler where you mention it is a record label. Normally you would have been blocked right away for this, but since nobody has brought it up in all this time I'm issuing this notice instead.. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. Just Step Sideways from this world ..... today 00:23, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello.. wow, no, I never had a problem with it.. because it has the word sex in it? I named it after his record label at the time which though inactive, is now mine and a song by the band 'The Gun Club" I'm happy to change the name if I can do it here no problem at all though.
Thanks for the heads up. :)

Some friendly advice

[edit]

@Sexbeatrecords I know you are meaning well but your behavior at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shakir Pichler is not going to be received well by the wikipedia community. It is best not to comment after every user because that is seen as WP:BLUDGEONING behavior, and is likely to prejudice people towards deleting this article. If you want to save the Shakir Pichler, I suggest you refrain from commenting after each person. I would also suggest not accusing people of prejudice, as many of the commenters are seasoned WP:AfD Patrol editors who routinely evaluate content at WP:AFD. The only thing they care about in relation to this article is our policies at WP:GNG, WP:NOT, WP:ANYBIO, WP:NMUSIC, and WP:Deletion policy. I would suggest reading all of those pages carefully. Policy arguments based in evidence win at AFD, and any arguments outside policy will fail. Ultimately what editors want to see is WP:SIGCOV (significant coverage) in multiple high quality WP:SECONDARY and WP:TERTIARY sources.

As for content, the article was overly promotional and not encyclopedic in its language or style. See our policies at WP:PROMOTION and WP:TONE/ Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. Once an article comes to AFD the sourcing and tone/style of the article comes under intense scutiny. WP:PRIMARY sources are discouraged from being used at wikipedia, and are often removed from the article entirely or placed as an external link. It is frowned upon to use primary materials in most cases because of our policy at WP:No original research (see WP:PSTS). Per policy at WP:IMDB we are expressly forbidden from using IMDb as a reference as it is not considered a reliable source. It may be placed as an external link but can not be used to verify content in a wikipedia article. Likewise primary sources like record company websites can not be used because they are not independent of the subject. Nor can we use vendor pages which sell albums or records because they have a financial conflict of interest with the subject. We can use publications independent of the subject as described at WP:RS such as academic books and journals from reliable publishers, and newspapers and magazines with attributed byline authors and whose publications have editorial oversight. Best wishes.4meter4 (talk) 05:46, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

thank you. that wasnt my intention.. as far as I could tell, i needed to try to justify each objection... man wp is difficult. Id really like to get his bands and films listed there though maybe in a section that doesnt require scrutiny over imdb if that is possible.. I wish Shakir could run the page! lol Sorry for seeming aggressive, its been an annoying process for me. Sexbeatrecords (talk) 06:08, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I completely understand. It takes getting used to. Wikipedia culture has a learning curve. Navigating it can be challenging when you are new. I will help you with restoring content if it survives the AFD, and help you identify the sources and materials you can use for that content. The best thing to do would be to locate independent reviews of the band performances, films and recordings which mention Shakir Pichler. Those could be used to source that kind of content. You already have some newspaper archives. The main thing is to format those into Template:Journal when you cite them. To learn more see Wikipedia:Citing sources.4meter4 (talk) 07:31, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much!!
I'll send Shakir another message on his insta to see if he has time to send me anything but he seems really busy. Friendly & appreciative but busy.
I know all his credits are in the films because I have seen every one of them and always smile when I see his name.. And the official imdb entries but I doubt there will be specific mention of him even though the work he did as action vehicles coordinator, especially on Jasper Jones and 1% were as Craig Silvey (jasper jones author) said when I met him about how they couldn't have done it without Shakir going far and beyond expectations to source, drive and set every vehicle from the 1960's in the film. But I cant find that on record as it was just a conversation damn it.. Same with teh film 1% when I went to the Q&A for that I asked how they got all the bikers and all the motorcycles and they said "Shakir was an absolute legend as he nt only organised the Harleys, they also came with bikers so he by proxy ended up casting 90% of the cast!. I have been looking for that on record in interviews but cant find those words as again it was in person :( Anyhow, thanks again for any help. Id just love to get the films and releases back, maybe in an ';Achievements' section or something but I really dont know.. Perhaps they can still link to imdb and the music to various sources that are not 'where to buy' obviously.
PS: I requested my wiki username to be changed after advice that it may breech standards I guess because it has 'sex' in the title.. weird but I don't mind. :)
Cheers!

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or website, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Just Step Sideways from this world ..... today 20:59, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I tried not to do this, but you either are unable to understand the very clear concerns I expressed or you are deliberately ignoring them. Your sole purpose here appears to be to represent Sexbeat records, that's not how this works. Just Step Sideways from this world ..... today 21:00, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Just Step Sideways My account deletion is COMPLETELY unfair! THERE IS NO SEXBEAT RECORDS!!! There has not been a SEXBEAT RECORDS for 20 years since it was given to me decades ago.. Have a look! the domain doesn't even have a website nor have I EVER tried to promote or sell anything here EVER. It's just my user name as an tribute to what once was. I've never even made a sexbeat records wiki.
I even put in a request to change my user name yesterday to comply.
Find one post where I am promoting a non existent record label in all of the edit history - I'll wait.
There once was a link to that domain when it was just a page about his bands but that too never had any type of online store either. and that was years ago.
As for the ridiculous comment by @DuffbeerformeI also red in the AFD discussion that I have 'dedicated my life to Shakir Pichler', I am only here now because I got an email out of the blue that it was up for deletion and you can see my edits havent been great or constant over the years. That is also hilarious. I made the page many years ago and it's called being a fan! The Kryptonics and The Bamboos were both his bands of which made a huge impact on not only my but many peoples lives in Perth and there are many stories I have both seen at shows and online that are worth documenting.
Shakir Pichler was always the 'stand-out' personality member of these bands and that is why he is a figurehead/mascot to represent them.
NB: There is or was another 'sexbeat records' I think in Germany which may have been a shop I think, from memory which has nothing to do with my account name but I assume probably got the name from the same song by The band 'the gun club' at the time which was very popular in indie music scenes.
Thank you to the rational people on here who have actually been trying to help me.. I just don't want the page to be removed as it was (before editing) a great source of local West Australian Indie music history or which West Australians are proud of.

Requested username:

Request reason:

apparently the word 'sex' in my old name was against wiki and also falsely accused of promoting a non existent record label Sexbeatrecords (talk) 00:21, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You seem to have created a new account- which was a mistake, but since we were leaning towards unblocking, we'll let it go and close this request. 331dot (talk) 18:28, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You consistently give the impression that you don't actually read other people's posts before posting several paragraphs in response to them. You've repeatedly stated that the word "sex" is part of the issue with your username despite the fact that nobody has said that it is.
Your new username looks fine, but as the owner of the now defunct label you do have a conflict of interest with regard to artists associated with it and should not be directly editing any such content in the future. Just Step Sideways from this world ..... today 00:53, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How is being a fan of someone's bands a conflict of interest? I am not personal friends with Shakir and my correspondence with him in this past week has been the first since 2007 or 2008 and only to ask if he could possibly send or put online anything regarding his old bands for wiki. He didn't even see my message for a week as its was in his 'social 'message requests' folder. The only reason I even contacted him was to try to source better references that he may suggest. He is not concerned either way about the wiki page and I don't want to annoy him with more messages if possible.. We are not even social media friends - yes I did meet him by chance in 2007 ONCE and a gig! And I have SEEN him on stage at shows many times without having the confidence to speak with him.
His career fascinated me is all, especially when I noticed his name popping up in credits of big films I was amazed.
Anywho - do what you will. Im tired.. I was just trying to do as requested and justify links and find sources that adhere to the seemingly strict wiki policies.
Lastly, regarding the label name.. None of Shakirs bands have ever even been on it! So again, no conflict of interest there in that respect.
Sorry, I thought the 1st wiki notice re my username was that it breeches standards due to its name and assumed it was due to 'sex', must have misinterpreted that.
As I said, from his website these days, Shakir is a web designer, pretty boring, but I wish i Had his skills to properly edit the page.
Thank you @4meter4 for your advice and offer to help teach me how to edit properly.
This whole experience however just seems toxic and I honestly suspect a couple of people on here may have some personal issues with Shakir. Just a hunch.
Other editors here have been fantastic and I appreciate and try to learn from all your comments as best I can..
I think Shakir's page should be here wit all music and film achievements with NO promotion for sales obviously but I think Im done. Sexbeatrecords (talk) 01:14, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have any personal opinions about Shakir. I never heard of him before a few days ago. I agree that duffbeerforme's comment is a bit over the line. However, it also seems that advice given to you is either not being understood or is being ignored. You should really heed what 4meter4 has been trying to communicate to you, it's good advice.
To any reviewing admin: once the rename is processed I am ok with an unblock if you think that's the right move. Just Step Sideways from this world ..... today 04:12, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Note that passionate fans are often mistaken for people with a conflict of interest, because they act in a similar manner, they seem like they are more interested in promoting/telling the world about the topic of which they are a fan than in improving this encyclopedia. You'll need to find a way to set aside the "fan" aspect of yourself and write with a neutral point of view. 331dot (talk) 09:35, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @331dotI totally agree with your point. The AFD discussion may have gotten 'passionate' (more frustrated tbh) but the wiki page content itself was not written in a 'fan' way at all - it was just facts but unfortunately and unbeknownst to me, the ref links I assumed were very strong *as novice wikster, were unfortunately not good enough. (IMDB, Discogs etc etc. Thank you @Just Step Sideways for the unblock recommendation. Appreciated.
I absolutely would like to rewrite the page in the most professional way possible. It's just hard if I cant include his bands/releases and films somehow as it just leaves the page a 'stub'.
If anyone has an idea how to restore those changes in a way that is in line with WIki then please feel free. It's all a rubics cube for me at the moment and I never could solve those! :)
Thanks also again to @4meter4 for advice.
Whatever happens to his page - Have a nice weekend all.. Christine. ChristineBamtonics (talk) 11:04, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So you shouldn't have created a new account- at least not before this block was removed. 331dot (talk) 13:46, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, KryptonicChristine, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. Your editing pattern indicates that you may be using multiple accounts or coordinating editing with people outside Wikipedia, such as ChristineBamtonics (talk · contribs). Our policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow this, and users who misuse multiple accounts may be blocked from editing. If you operate multiple accounts directly or with the help of another person, please disclose these connections. Thank you. CoffeeCrumbs (talk) 15:24, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

oh! I didn't realise. I thought it was just the account itself not the user.. It's just me. and I wanted to reply and thank people. happy to adhere to whatever is the correct thing to do.
The original account was blocked on entire false reason of 'promoting' which it never has so I didn't realise it was person specific regardless. Thanks for the heads-up. 157.211.88.80 (talk) 03:28, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If it was just the account, then blocking wouldnt be useful, would it? CoffeeCrumbs (talk) 05:12, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, does this now mean I can use this account and we can cancel the old 'sexbeatrecords' one? I don't mind at all and am really have been trying to do whatever is right here despite a very hard to navigate learning curve.
Also, to my knowledge, no one has ever posted on my behalf or at my request.
  • Think it's time to go for a wiki editing course :) Thanks again. C.
