From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Greetings, fellow editors!

I am new to the Wiki community, and am carefully going over the guidelines and policies. IF anyone has any advice for me on anything, I would be more than welcome to hear it! Wikipedia is a site I visit often. It has contributed to a vast amount of the knowledge I have obtained over the years. And after so long, I figured it was about time I give something back.

It may be a while before I start editing any pages, as I am a novice when it comes to coding. IF I make any mistakes, I would be more than happy for anyone to correct me. We learn best through our mistakes, as Edison knew well having gone through so many iterations of the the light bulb before finding just the right substance to make bathe the world in light.

If I am quiet for a time, I am simply still learning the ins and outs of how to edit, what not to do, and how to go about things.

Also, a side note, I did create another user-account, but decided I had to make another one considering the name that I used. Using one's own name is highly discouraged, so I had to make this account. If the former username and account is deleted or removed, so be it. And if the mods or admins have any questions about that, I'll be more than happy to answer any of them. At the moment, that first account I intend to just let sit, for now. May use it as a back up or merely to talk with fellow editors and just never use it to edit anything, not sure as of now. Ideas? Advice?

In any case, this is my main account. I hope to be able to contribute to the vast knowledge that is this glorious world database, to keep it unbias, and to work with other editors on advancing the goal of keeping this wonderful World Wide Web encyclopedia alive.

A friend to everyone with a thirst for knowledge:

Sage.

Welcome!

Some cookies to welcome you!

Welcome to Wikipedia, SageSolomon! Thank you for your contributions. I am Oshwah and I have been editing Wikipedia for some time, so if you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. You can also check out Wikipedia:Questions or type {{help me}} at the bottom of this page. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that will automatically produce your username and the date. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 21:52, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

[edit]

Thank you Oshwah! The Chocolate chip cookies were much very appreciated! :D

I am finding I have a lot of reading and research to do, just to become good editor. Im committed to it though. After having done a quick scan of your userpage and your talk page, Im frankly really freaking happy you're the one who said Welcome to Wikipedia first! Already read something on one of the help pages somewhere that mentioned Francis Bacon and his philosophy for trial and error. That was encouraging. Im going to be learning on the fly a lot at first, I can tell. I may stick to talk pages at first, as I also have to re-learn how to code. It needs some brushing up. However, it IS comforting that a big policy is to BE BOLD! Im also reading over many of the Policies and guidelines. I dont want to jump in and make a big mistake right off the bat. Heck, this is technically my second account, for the mistake in using my real name on the first account. Im learning as I go. By the way Oshwah, GREAT hair! xD You sir may be hearing from me in the next few weeks as I go about learning the ins and outs of this process.

Thanks again! And best wishes!

Important Notice

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Multiple accounts

[edit]

I very much understand your concerns about your earlier account, but you should read WP:ALTACCN and consider letting the Arbitration Committee know. Doug Weller talk 16:59, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am unsure if I am even going to use that 1st account, though. I'd rather have it out right deleted, and from everything I am reading, there is no way to delete an account. I didnt even make any edits with it, and made this one due to my first having my real name. Which, I'd rather avoid. I would have deleted it myself and have only found that accounts cant be? Is there any where you can link me that shows me how to possibly delete an account? Or is that still something to ask ArbCom about? Thank for the heads up, though! I highly appreciate it and I really do need some advice on the matter. @_@ SageSolomon (talk) 17:27, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've emailed the ArbCom. Hopefully I can get this resolved in a neatly manner. :) SageSolomon (talk) 18:36, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Happy 6,000,000 articles of knowledge, fellow Wikipedians and Editors!!!! :D

One month

[edit]

Happy one month of editing, Sage. Still a lot to learn. One step at a time. Judge me if thy wish for talking to myself on my own talk page. Currently at a lobby waiting and bored. Just passing time.

(I talk to myself in RL often enough anyway. Not sure if its out of loneliness or boredom. ...Eh, both. Expect notes to myself here from time to time. Am I weird? Yes. Unshamed to be so. We all have quirks. :D )

Invitation for comment

Hello!

I noticed you were a member of Wikiproject Minnesota with an interest in politics. I was wondering if you have any interest in this proposal for a Minnesota Legislature task force, as I'm trying to get a few people on board before starting work on organizing it.

I appreciate your time and I hope to hear back from you! Jordano53 21:38, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Weather: Map Dot & Template/Infobox Colors

[edit]

Dear project member, This message is being sent out to encourage new ideas and feedback on those proposed in regard to the colors debate for WikiProject Weather. For those who are unaware of what's been happening over the last year, I will give a brief summary. We have been discussing proposed changes to the colors of the dots on tropical cyclone maps and templates and infoboxes across the entire weather project in order to solve issues related to the limited contrast between colors for both normal vision as well as the various types of color blindness (MOS:ACCESS). We had partially implemented a proposal earlier this year, however, it was objected to by a number of people and additional issues were presented that made it evident this wasn't the optimal solution. We tried to come up with other solutions to address the issues related to color contrast, however, none of them gained traction and no consensus was generated.

We need your help and I encourage you to propose your own scale and give feedback on those already listed. Keep in mind that we are NOT making a decision on any individual proposal at this time. We are simply allowing people to make proposals and cultivate them given feedback from other project members. Please visit our project page for additional details. The proposal phase will close no later than December 31st at 23:59 UTC. NoahTalk 04:25, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I never got back to this. Sorry. Life happened. But Im back. SageSolomon (talk) 20:33, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Been absent. Apologies.

[edit]

Hello fellow editors and wiki-geeks. I apologize for my absence. The last couple years have been a real struggle. Lost my Dad, lost my house, lost my dog, just a lot of loss left and right. So I've been on shore leave, in a way. I'm now trying to get back into all our projects and help further the human database. It is of the utmost importance, now more than ever, that this website have good editors. I will be reviewing all the projects I'm involved in and getting back into the swing of things. Again, I apologize for the long term sudden absence. Now, lets get to work. SageSolomon (talk) 16:11, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there! I am sending this alert to all members of the WikiProject Weather and editors who have recently edited in the realm of tornadoes.

There is a large and important discussion ongoing, with the goal to completely overhaul and improve the List of F5 and EF5 tornadoes. The previous improvement attempt back in 2022/2023 gained almost no participation. This alert is being sent out so these discussions hopefully gain a reasonably-sized participation, so the F5/EF5 tornado article, one of the most viewed weather-related articles on Wikipedia, can be improved for all readers!

If you wish to participate, please visit: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Weather/Possible F5/EF5/IF5 tornadoes. The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 17:31, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
