Episode list issues
Blue Bloods season 14
What was the point of the edit you made to this article? It removed episode summaries and other key information. 2601:5CC:4080:29F0:9860:19D4:D825:7899 (talk) 00:12, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- 2601:5CC:4080:29F0:9860:19D4:D825:7899, which edit are you referring to? — Qwerfjkltalk 07:50, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- I like to add to this. All episode summaries seem to have disappeared as of today for all the Mom seasons (Mon_season_1 to Mom_season_8). They were in the 'Episodes' sections of the articles. The info is still there, it shows when you click on 'Edit' next to 'Episodes', but it doesn't show up on the page itself. 84.25.117.50 (talk) 13:24, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) Ah. I haven't looked into this deeply, but it appears at a glance that {{Episode list/sublist}} might only display some episode information if the first parameter is the same as the article title. —a smart kitten[meow] 13:34, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- Primefac, might want to expediate the cleanup for this. I've been trying to get it done today, because I'll be unavaliable for the next week. — Qwerfjkltalk 14:51, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- For the record it's dumb as bricks that {{Episode list/sublist}} requires series title, let alone one that exactly matches the pagename. I'm sure there's a perfectly good reason, but I've never figured it out and the documentation about the matter is abysmal. Primefac (talk) 15:40, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- I've corrected the parameter to the pagename by removing parentheses for all Mom seasons. Dynamo384 (talk) 22:29, 30 March 2024 (UTC)

Italic title
I guess the "season" should not be in italic after move, e.g. 30 Rock season 2 - Christian75 (talk) 00:36, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- Christian75, that will be taken care of after the bot moves all of the pages. — Qwerfjkltalk 07:50, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis
Why were all my plot summaries for The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis Season 1,2 & 3 removed? Do you know how much time I've put into those pages. This is for HISTORY. Entercontainment (talk) 16:19, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- This was a, probably unintended, side-effect of the page move. The current page name appears as a parameter in each call to {{Episode list/sublist}}. Moving a page without updating this parameter has the side-effect that the plot summary text disappears. I've fixed the three pages The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis season 1, 2 and 3 by hand. -- John of Reading (talk) 17:00, 30 March 2024 (UTC)

Bot breaking templates with page moves
Hi Qwerfjkl. A user at the help desk posted a question about the short summaries in episode lists disappearing. This appears to be happening after Qwerfjkl (bot) moves the page to satisfy the consensus reached at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (television) § Follow-up RfC on TV season article titles. The documentation for {{episode list/sublist}} notes for the parameter:
ShortSummary: [...] Leaving this parameter empty will result in the summary row not appearing for the episode. If
{{Episode list/sublist}}
is used then the page name must be specified to display the summary there, e.g.{{Episode list/sublist|List of Carnivàle episodes|...}}
. The summary will not appear if the code is transcluded in another page.
Formatting in original, edited for proseline.
Can you set the bot up to edit the parentheses out of the first parameter of this template? Thanks.
ETA: I see that there's a proposed action item to go through all the affected templates in the near future. Thanks in advance. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 22:41, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
Supernatural
Why are all the episode descriptions erased for all seasons of Supernatural? Bestofmelworstofmel (talk) 01:53, 31 March 2024 (UTC)

Replies to all of the above
Hi folks, I just wanted to reply to all of the above in one lump supersection to avoid having to reply to each one individually. The {{episode list/sublist}} template requires the episode title to match the page title exactly, so if a page was moved from Show (series 1) to Show series 1 the usage of Show (series 1)
in the template would need to be changed to Show series 1
. I will note that I am (slowly) making my way through this list, and should hopefully have it done by the end of the day, but you are more than welcome to fix these issues yourself if/when you see them! Thank you for your patience. Primefac (talk) 08:01, 31 March 2024 (UTC)
- User:Primefac But what about fixing redirects in many celebrities pages who were a part of the reality series I mentioned above here User talk:Qwerfjkl#Please fix links check over here for example this is the old page name link Special:WhatLinksHere/Strictly Come Dancing (series 21) i think all celebrities Who were participants, hosts, judges should be changed to it’s new names in their pages as it’s mostly redirects now. 2A02:6B68:10:6100:2039:C63D:A756:3969 (talk) 20:25, 31 March 2024 (UTC)
- Please Disambiguated them from old link to new link renamed moved pages 2A02:6B68:10:6100:2039:C63D:A756:3969 (talk) 20:31, 31 March 2024 (UTC)
- I suspect most if not all of those will be piped, so the visual output of the page will not change and the redirect will still be pointing to the right spot. In other words, there is no need to update those links (i.e that's why redirects exist in the first place). Primefac (talk) 08:25, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

Notice
Unfortunately I won't be able to respond any questions, due to a dodgy internet connection. I've tried to finish the page moves before I went on holiday so that cleanup could go ahead; any moves that still need doing are probably move-protected. I apologise for any issues this causes. I'll be back on Sunday. Qwerfjkltalk 14:21, 1 April 2024 (UTC)
Broken redirects
I think there are a lot of broken redirects that need to be fixed such as The Simpsons Season 8 (so a redirect pointing to a redirect now because of the page moves). Coldbolt (talk) 19:51, 31 March 2024 (UTC)
- A bot will automatically fix those. Qwerfjkltalk 14:28, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024
Hello Qwerfjkl,
Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.
Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.
Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.
It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!
2023 Awards
Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!
WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.
Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.
Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.
Reminders:
- You can access live chat with patrollers on the New Pages Patrol Discord.
- Consider adding the project discussion page to your watchlist.

How do I make an article? --Celeste Rowz (talk) 10:26, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
- Celeste Rowz, Welcome! Creating a new article from scratch is extremely challenging, and new editors are strongly recommended to spend a few months learning how Wikipedia works, by making improvements to some of our existing seven million articles before trying it. When you do decide to have a go at a new article, you are highly encouraged to read WP:Your first article. If you haven't already also check out WP:TUTORIAL; it's a lot of fun! TV series seasons
Hello, Qwerfjkl,
I haven't read through that RFC closely but the new season for tiitling seasons of TV series just looks wrong without the parenthesis and I think there will be editors reverting your bot's page moves. I've already seen two pages moved back to the old page titles and your bot is still doing article, talk page and talk page archive page moves. I didn't participate in the RFC or even know it was going on but we have a lot of editors who work on television series and you may be receiving visits from some even though you are simply the bot operator who carried out the task as requested. Thank you for all of your, and your bot's, work. Liz Read! Talk! 19:23, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
Pinging @Qwerfjkl, Qwerfjkl (bot): I thank you for contributing us on retitling television seasons. However, as for the concern of I Can See Your Voice franchise that technically classifies under the "game show" genre, kindly proceed to review and resolve these both discussions:
- Talk:I Can See Your Voice (Belgian TV series) season 1#Requested move 31 March 2024

- Pinging @Qwerfjkl, Qwerfjkl (bot), Liz: Ok, you're right. But for the cases of British/Irish counterpart series numbers (i.e. "I Can See Your Voice (British TV series) series 1"), it was actually confusing. This should be properly retitle in a unique way to "I Can See Your Voice (British game show) series 1" to avoid these circumstances. Saisønisse (talk) 20:20, 6 April 2024 (UTC)

Tech News: 2024-15
Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- Web browsers can use tools called extensions. There is now a Chrome extension called Citation Needed which you can use to see if an online statement is supported by a Wikipedia article. This is a small experiment to see if Wikipedia can be used this way. Because it is a small experiment, it can only be used in Chrome in English.
- A new Edit Recovery feature has been added to all wikis, available as a user preference. Once you enable it, your in-progress edits will be stored in your web browser, and if you accidentally close an editing window or your browser or computer crashes, you will be prompted to recover the unpublished text. Please leave any feedback on the project talk page. This was the #8 wish in the 2023 Community Wishlist Survey.
- Initial results of Edit check experiments have been published. Edit Check is now deployed as a default feature at the wikis that tested it. Let us know if you want your wiki to be part of the next deployment of Edit check. [4][5]
- Readers using the Minerva skin on mobile will notice there has been an improvement in the line height across all typography settings. [6]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 9 April. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 10 April. It will be on all wikis from 11 April (calendar). [7][8]
- New accounts and logged-out users will get the visual editor as their default editor on mobile. This deployment is made at all wikis except for the English Wikipedia. [9]

Question from Karel909 (10:05, 10 April 2024)
Hello, how do I reduce the number of potential fields for editing? I cannot possibly go through 88000 options on offer. --Karel909 (talk) 10:05, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- Karel909, I assume you mean by "potential fields for editing" you mean where to get started editing, is that correct? If so, you could try Wikipedia:Task Center. — Qwerfjkltalk 13:21, 10 April 2024 (UTC)

False positive on article – Flemmish_Nietzsche
Page: Center For Black Excellence And Culture Center For Black Excellence And Culture
Diff: Center For Black Excellence And Culture (revision 1218674646) Special:Diff/1218674646
Comment/question: I did not actually add the bare citation, I merely reformatted it as before it did not have any closing brackets. I see this may have been detected that I added the full citation in the first place, which is false.
