Welcome to the Wikipedia!
Welcome to the Wikipedia, Plandu! Hope you are enjoying your editing here and being a Wikipedian! And thanks for helping with the Bryan Ferry article. Here are some perfunctory tips to hasten your acculturation into the Wikipedia experience:
- Take a look at the Wikipedia Tutorial and The five pillars of Wikipedia.
- When you have time, take a look at Manual of Style, and assume good faith, but keep in mind the unique style you brought to the Wiki!
- Always keep the notion of NPOV in mind, be respectful of others' POV, and remember your unique perspective on the meaning of neutrality is invaluable!
- If you need any help, post your question at the Help Desk.
- Explore, be bold in editing, and, above all else, have fun!
And some odds and ends: Boilerplate text, Brilliant prose, Cite your sources, Civility, Conflict resolution, How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Pages needing attention, Peer review, Policy Library, Utilities, Verifiability, Village pump, Wikiquette
You can sign your name on any page by typing 4 tildes: ~~~~. Best of luck, Plandu, and have fun! Ombudsman 02:01, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
re: Tugba Karademir
A reliable source that can be checked, but go ahead and re-add it if that was what NBC commentators said, since NBC is considered a reliable source. I've just heard too many blatant lies and misinformation coming from NBC commentators like Scott Hamilton and Sandra Bezic; I personally don't consider their comments to be reliable sources of information. They're not journalists and don't seem to be accountable for the accuracy of the things they say. Kolindigo (talk) 03:10, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for sourcing with a newspaper article. :) And as I type this, Scott Hamilton just lies about the history of triple axels in Olympic ladies competition. ;) Kolindigo (talk) 04:05, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
re: Clint Trickett
Thanks for updating the Trickett page...although I was hoping to get there first. :-) I hope you don't mind but I replaced the NFL.com reference you used with one from the Tallahassee Democrat newspaper since it was more comprehensive and gave more background from a home-town perspective. Speedy deletion nomination of Nura Woodson Ulreich
Hello Plandu,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Nura Woodson Ulreich for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Dane2007 (talk) 00:46, 2 July 2016 (UTC)

Re: Gilmour Academy
As one of the coordinators of Wikiproject Schools, I try to add articles on schools listed at RPP to my watchlist. I went to the above article to do so and what do I find? A slick marketing brochure masquerading as an encyclopedia article. It's not uncommon for parochial and private school articles to be somewhat promotional, but I do not recall ever seeing a parochial school article this bad. I've stubbed it and will work on some independent sourcing tonight. Any assistance you may wish to add would be appreciated. Thanks. John from Idegon (talk) 00:26, 9 August 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Well Beyond Care
You requested a deletion of this Wiki post, but it is a significant company in the $125B private duty care industry as it is the only company in the US that teaches families and individuals how to find and manage affordable non-medical in-home care, while solving the chronic problems of caregiver truancy and turnover. Our platform combines the power of the internet with the personal touch of nurses to offer families a pathway to transitional care, allowing our elderly parents to safely age-in-place. This solution lowers stress in hiring a caregiver and saves families tens of thousands of dollars per year in care costs. I had not yet completed the Wiki page, but did not know how to put it in a "unpublished" mode. Yes, as the page stood, it was not completed, but there are some significant items that would be worthy of entry into Wikipedia. Jeteye (talk) 23:34, 2 June 2018 (UTC)
The file File:US gov races 08.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Unused (see WP:NOTWEBHOST), unclear purpose
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Zinclithium (talk) 06:22, 29 June 2018 (UTC)
- As far as I can recalled (looks like I made that map 12[!] years ago), it was a map of the states who had governors up for reelection in 2008. Once the election was over, someone replaced the map with one that showed the results. As such the map I so lovingly made does not appear to have a use any longer. I will bid it a fond farewell, knowing that it served its purpose and never complained. Plandu (talk) 17:58, 29 June 2018 (UTC)
Edits of Golden Sheen Sapphire Page
Hi PLandu,
I am the original editor of the Golden Sheen Sapphire page. As you have noted, there have been many edits and undo edits to this page. I suspect a single individual is responsible using different IP address, and that they are making the changes with malicious intent. My original page contained basic facts I could find references for citing publications from reputable sources.
The changes the IP editor is making state that Gold Sheen Sapphire is the same as Star Sapphire - this is incorrect. They are two different types of sapphire. Gold Sheen Sapphire has been given its own designation as a type of corundum by independent gemological labs, which I have cited. Other information they change is the source mine and alternate names, and discovery date, however there are not cited sources to support this assertion. Gold Sheen Sapphire was unknown and unnamed until the GIA lab in Bangkok determined the material was different to other cabundrum varieties in 2013 - as cited in my original page.
The IP editor is causing damage to the reputation of Gold Sheen Sapphire, and material damage to those involved in the sapphire industry.
As per the Wikipedia policy, I have tried to contact the IP editor via their talk page to ask them to stop and discuss the issues. However, as they keep changing IP address, the contacts attempts remained unanswered.
Thank you for edit locking the page to verified logins only. I hope that this will allow sensible discussion and resolution.
Sjwaddington (talk) 07:05, 29 June 2018 (UTC)
- I'll be the first to admit I know nothing about gemmology. I was initially alerted to the page because of formatting errors, and saw that some of the disruptive editing and edit wars kept bringing them back. As long the edits don't run afoul of wikipedia guidelines and are well-sourced from notable sources, I'm fine with it. I see that you sell this stuff, which means that you know a thing or two about gemmology. I'll continue to follow the page and maybe learn a thing or two. Some mention should probably be made about the argument that it's similar to (but distinct from) previously discovered corundum. Plandu (talk) 18:04, 29 June 2018 (UTC)
- I have reverted the page to the basic information and I think fixed up some of the formatting errors. There are probably still some errors that I will be happy to fix if you let me know what they are. I am not sure how to deal with the assertions being made by the IP address only edits on the page. For example claiming Gold Sheen Sapphire is the same as Star Sapphire, or that Gold Sheen Sapphire was being mined on 1967. They supply references for these, but they just show that there is a type of sapphire called 'star sapphire' and that there were sapphire mines in Kenya (mining yellow sapphire) in 1967 - both of those things are true, but it is incorrect to claim that they are both Gold Sheen Sapphire. It is like claiming a whale is a fish and showing a reference that both things live in the sea.
- Anyway, thank you for your advice and suggestion. I will put some thought into how to make the 'controversy' objective and avoid simply stating an opinion. Sjwaddington (talk) 09:21, 30 June 2018 (UTC)
Looking for Advice
Hi Plandu,
I'm new to Wiki and am having trouble finding the links I need. I noticed you edited the page I recently created, 826 Boston, and was wondering how you found it. Is there a page indexed with newly created articles for review? Also, is it better to create "Draft:826 Boston" rather than create in the mainspace right away? Thanks! Rexlikescheese (talk) 18:20, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
- Hey there. There is an indexed page with newly created articles. It's available at Special:NewPagesFeed. Or by topic at Wikipedia:New_articles_by_topic if the article falls within a topic. I actually ran across your article when perusing pages with thumbnail images in their infoboxes, which oftentimes leads to new articles by folks who are somewhat new to Wikipedia. I usually use Draft pages (or my personal sandbox) when I'm writing new pages, but there's nothing wrong with starting with a barebones article, as long as the article is well-cited and shows the notability of the subject (see Wikipedia:Notability for the notability guidelines). If you have any other questions, let me know! - Plandu (talk) 20:21, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help! Rexlikescheese (talk) 21:21, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
- No problem. Just a correction in what I said above: I found your article through User:AlexNewArtBot/LinguisticsSearchResult, not thumbnail infobox images. - Plandu (talk) 18:19, 26 July 2018 (UTC)

- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. - Hi there! There are a number of policies and guidelines that are relevant to this. If you've been paid for your contributions, the article is still publishable, but will need to follow the guidelines. The guidelines you'll want to familiarize yourself with are WP:NPOV, WP:COI, and WP:PAID. some of the templates that will or may be needed for the article as written are Template:COI (required no matter what) and Template:POV.
A specific to consider:
The IIA is considered the standards setter, principal educator, and certifying body of the internal audit profession
This is a prime candidate for a {{By whom}} template. The sentence should be in the active voice and list who considers it so.

Hello, I'm CASSIOPEIA. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —specifically this edit to UFC 236— because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help Desk. Thanks. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 04:52, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to UFC 236. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Repeated vandalism can result in the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 05:08, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
- Can you kindly stop warning me for reverting vandalism? This page was undergoing a lot of vandalism that I was trying to revert. Please save your warning for people who are vandalizing pages, not for those who are reverting non-constructive edits themselves. Thanks. - Plandu (talk) 20:31, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
BIAS
Why is it that extremely biased and words only used to provoke certain emotions are okay for a man like Steve King, but if used on one of the many black congresspeople would be unacceptable. His comments can be discussed without calling him a white supremacist which he's denounced numerous times.Sir I ask you at least remove the demagoguic words. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chris98311 (talk • contribs) 18:24, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
- The article mentions (and cites) ideas he has espoused that fall under white supremacy. The article also clearly mentions his disavowal of white supremacy following his comments puzzling over why the term "white supremacist" was offensive. If there are WP:RS-cited instances of black congresspeople espousing white supremacist ideas, you may add those well-cited instances to their respective Wikipedia pages. - Plandu (talk) 18:33, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
Why did you undo my change on Tucker Carlson?
I readded longstanding text removed by two editwarring editors. There was consensus to include it months ago from many editors and now two come around and just say no, without any discussion, and that's that? 51.75.75.162 (talk) 20:51, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
- The change deleted lots of carriage returns, which messed up the formatting of the article. Paragraph breaks were gone and section headings were broken. I couldn't even see what was changed content-wise because the formatting was so changed. Feel free to add back any relevant content (preferably by reverting to an earlier published copy), but make sure it doesn't mess up the formatting. - Plandu (talk) 20:54, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
- Huh you're right, how did I miss that. I tried again and something's going wrong. I tried disabling extensions in my browser but it didn't help. This is the edit I wanted undo
- Can you help? 51.75.75.162 (talk) 20:59, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for April 23
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Ron Walters, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bethesda (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hi!
I just wanted to apologize on Behalf of my younger brother. I noticed that there were a few warnings regarding vandalism and other misuses of wikipedia, and found out that he was culpable. I noticed you were the one having to put up with this, and just wished to apologize on his behalf. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.180.116.2 (talk) 14:25, 24 April 2019 (UTC)

Cottage Cheese
Hi Plandu, Disappointed you should say that. I am wanting to rewrite the cottage cheese article so that was the first of many edits! I removed the two sentences from the lede as I explained in the comments, but let me reiterate:
1. "Cottage cheese dates back to the ancient Mesopotamia 3100–510 BC, where it was first found accidentally made in a sheep's stomach bag." The references used in the article do not corroborate this. The gourmet cheese website merely states this method as a possible discovery route, and the National Historic Cheesemaking Center only mentions this is a possible legend. The specific dates mentioned are not found in either source. Either way, it seems impossible to prove, and simply wrong, as evidence for cheese making precedes this date by thousands of years.
2. The stuff about WW1 is sourced in the article to something in the USA National Archives, but this document does not mention cheese at all, let alone cottage cheese.
I also left a note about my actions on the talk page of the article. Please be more careful or explain yourself!

Donald Sterling
Donald Sterling is a jew. What part of that did you find offensive? You are an anit-semite
- I found the lack of relevance, lack of capitalization, and the odd use of "being" all to be quite offensive to good article creation. How this makes me antisemitic is beyond me. Plandu (talk) 16:23, 24 May 2019 (UTC)
All this is a point of pride for Jews. It takes a fraudulent racist, anti-semite like yourself to go in there and delete legitimate editing. shand shand shand — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.212.148.254 (talk) 18:54, 29 May 2019 (UTC)

Talk Page Advisory
Hello. It appears your talk page is becoming quite lengthy and is in need of archiving. According to Wikipedia's user talk page guidelines; "Large talk pages become difficult to read, strain the limits of older browsers, and load slowly over slow internet connections. As a rule of thumb, archive closed discussions when a talk page exceeds 75 KB or has multiple resolved or stale discussions." - this talk page is 57.9 KB. See Help:Archiving a talk page for instructions on how to manually archive your talk page, or to arrange for automatic archiving using a bot. If you have any questions, place a {{help me}} notice on your talk page, or go to the help desk. Thank you. LPS and MLP Fan (Littlest Pet Shop) (My Little Pony) 22:20, 4 September 2019 (UTC)

"a citation-based synopsis is necessary". according to WP:FILMPLOT I don't. What are you talking about? © Tbhotch™ (en-2.5). 22:05, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
- My concern is this particular section of WP:FILMPLOT: "... a primary source may be used only to make descriptive claims, the accuracy of which is verifiable by a reasonable, educated person without specialist knowledge ... Do not make analytic, synthetic, interpretive, explanatory, or evaluative claims about information found in a primary source."
- There has been a lot of edit warring over the synopsis and everything else on the page, and I'm just (perhaps unjustifiably) worried that it's all going to start anew with an analytic, synthetic, interpretive synopsis. I think the gist of what's written synopsis should be covered and covered thoroughly and at length in the reception and criticism sections. I don't know how to get the synopsis to place where it doesn't fail NPOV in one way or the other. I guess you could revert back to what you've got and see what shakes out. Maybe we put it back while some sort of consensus discussion takes place on the talk page. Plandu (talk) 22:18, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
- So the best solution is to leave an article about a film with no plot section, but which includes a controversy section discussing the plot without talking about the plot? If you, or others, have a problem with (I cite) "this particular section of WP:FILMPLOT", then discuss it with the MoS. If the problem is the plot itself, Wikipedia is not censored. © Tbhotch™ (en-2.5). 22:23, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
- I think you’ve misunderstood me. As I said, the best solution is to have a synopsis. That’s why I said that on second thought we should leave it while discussing on the talk page. You’ve also misunderstood what I said about the MoS. I was quoting the part of the MoS that the synopsis as written doesn’t conform to. I’m sorry if that wasn’t clear. I am well aware that Wikipedia is not censored, but it also must be NPOV and adhere to the MoS. I will continue to try to operate in good faith and without anger or undue sarcasm. I look forward to continuing to improve this page and others alongside you. I hope you have restored your last version of the synopsis so we can work from that.
