- Thank you for this information. The article has been updated to include more references after reviewing the requirements for WP:ARTIST and WP:NAUTHOR. I believe that a Google knowledge panel for a book is the most reliable, but I'm not sure if it is the number of sources, or a single reliable source that makes the difference. Do you recommend using more source? Or do you recommend adding the history of the art to the article? I don't think it is disputable that the subject is an author or an artist, but I don't know how wikipedia differentiates based on what is widely known. I will resubmit it again, but if the article not elaborating on his history as an artist is the reason, do you recommend removing that identity altogether? Same for the book. Both are widely known, but the article focuses more on the individual because he first became known as an artist, then an author, but he is now a politician. Please let me know. Thank you. - In short there has to be enough reliable and independent information about a person for an article to be created. This allows the article to be verifiable, and neutral. This can done via couple of very detailed sources, or a lot of slightly shallower sources. Ca talk to me! 01:30, 24 November 2024 (UTC)

Response to comment on Moe Dimanche
[edit]Following this comment, I feel like I should clarify some things here. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Moe_Dimanche&oldid=1256686862
Firstly, I would claim that having the article would be considered more effective election interference than not having the article for several reasons. Articles can produce spin, and if things are not included they can misrepresent (don't think I didn't notice that Dimanche's 8 and a half years in prison are not included in the article. I would say that is a pretty important fact that should be on the article, and yet you do not seem interested in including it.)
WP:POLITICIAN clearly states that Just being an elected local official, or an unelected candidate for political office, does not guarantee notability, although such people can still be notable if they meet the general notability guideline. Just because he is a candidate does not convey notability, unless he is notable for some other reason, in this case WP:ARTIST or WP:AUTHOR. This reminds me a lot of Dan Osborn, who it was decided passed the WP:GNG because of his work as a union leader.
In my opinion, Dimanche does not pass either guideline, but I have not rejected the draft because I am not familiar enough with the WP:ARTIST guideline. I did think that a comment was necessary to point out that he is running for governor, and therefore there may be some potential WP:COI going on. You have not disclosed any relationship with the subject. Would you like to comment on that?
I would appreciate you not accusing people of election interference, and would like to remind you that legal threats will be reported to the administrator noticeboard. Spiralwidget (talk) 10:47, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- First of all, you are the one that said you “think” you know why the article was created and proceeded to discuss politics and even posted a ballotpedia link. If you are wrong, that’s something you chose to do. The article does not campaign, it doesn’t attack political opponents, it doesn’t even make known any political positions. You are making a lot of assumptions, and you are wrong. Also, I didn’t know I had to disclose my relationship to the subject. Did you have to do so for any of the articles you created? Or is this some type of requirement for Black subjects? Trust me, I would not have wasted my time drafting this article if I thought I would be accused of having a conflict of interest with the subject without justification, submitting a sneaky politically motivated article, or downplaying a prison sentence. There’s actually a section about the 11th Circuit case law that talks about inmate abuse. Anybody who links to the source can hear a panel of judges discussing that he was in prison. The Salon article on his art makes that clear as well, including the amount of time he was in prison. You have made some ill-informed accusations, and whatever prejudices you have against this person need to be worked out. There is a lengthy ballotpedia page that discusses his political positions. He doesn’t need to do that on Wikipedia. And quite frankly, I’m not sure that’s even a good idea anymore, especially if the editors feel the need to put it on a billboard that he’s been to prison like it is the most important thing about him. He is much better than his past, and biased Wikipedia editors will never change that. NovembersHeartbeat (talk) 13:10, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- I just wish you take a less hostile tone to editors who are just trying to help. No, WP:conflict of Interest disclosures are not a requirement solely for black people. If you have any, please disclose. Since he writes and makes books about his time in prison, I would think that he has personal experience in them is a important detail; espiecially since it has been covered in multiple reliable sources. - There aren't any conflicts of interest that I'm aware of, but it did seem like that editor focused more on the prison sentence more than any story behind it. As you pointed out, it has been covered extensively and there was nothing to hide. Almost every source makes some type of reference to the prison sentence, and the prison art is what initially made him known in the first place.
