How we will see unregistered users
Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Chinese user miscategorizing PR-related articles
Hello, this user has been persistent in miscategorizing PR articles and is unwilling to create new, accurate, categories. I posted about the issue in the Wikiproject page, but it seems mostly inactive. El Alternativo (talk) 15:46, 16 January 2022 (UTC)

Admin bit still needed?
Not to put you on the spot or anything, but I'm wondering what you are using the admin bit for these days. The public logs show three admin actions in the last three and a half years, which seems very low to need the bit. Thanks in advance. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 19:08, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for asking. I will use my admin bit when I personally feel it is necessary . Take care. Tony the Marine (talk) 22:44, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

PR statehood
Tony, how are you. It's been a long time since we've corresponded. I wanted to wish you all the best and congratulations on your success and recognition. Do you think we'll see PR statehood soon. It would be great for the country and the world. All the best. Andre Andrevan@ 23:09, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
- I'll be honest with you my dear friend Andrevan, in my opinion if the U.S. wanted PR to be a state of the union, they would have granted statehood a long time ago. PR has been a territory of the US since 1898 quite a long time. Plus, according to the political results in the island, many Puerto Ricans have voted pro-statehood, but nothing has happened. The representatives of the poorer states would be against PR becoming a state because they would receive less Federal Funds which is now distributed among the 50 states. Right now it may be the best option for both the US and PR, but I really don't think it is going to happen anytime soon. Thank you for the congratulations. I never expected to be recognized for my work in Wikipedia. Tony the Marine (talk) 01:08, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for your thoughts. Congratulations again on your accomplishments and recognition in the community. Andrevan@ 05:13, 9 July 2022 (UTC)

Congrats on the Marquis nomination
Hope you're doing well. All is well here. Congrats on the Marquis nomination The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 02:57, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you. I read the following: "Marquis Who's Who states that selection of individuals for listing in its publications "is based on reference value. Individuals become eligible for listing by virtue of their positions and/or noteworthy achievements that have proved to be of significant value to society.". I do not believe that I deserve this honor, but I think it is pretty cool. Tony the Marine (talk) 02:44, 18 October 2022 (UTC)
- Oh ... BTW, I want you to note the spelling on your page.. should include a "u" in Marquis Who's Who. Have a nice autumn. Cheers! --The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 17:27, 20 October 2022 (UTC)
