Question from EvanTheWikiUserDude (19:56, 21 September 2023)

Random question.. Do you know what a furry is? --EvanTheWikiUserDude (talk) 19:56, 21 September 2023 (UTC)

@EvanTheWikiUserDude: Furries - yes. In any case, welcome to Wikipedia. I've left you a message on your talk page, with a few links to start you on your journey. Happy editing!. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:23, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

New pages patrol newsletter

Hello MPGuy2824,

New Page Review article queue, March to September 2023

Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!

October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.

PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.

Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.

Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.

Orphan template

I love it when other people's edits make you learn about new things. Thank you for noticing the Emile van Rouveroy van Nieuwaal article was orphan! I've linked it to two other articles and deleted the template ({{orphan|date=September 2023}}) but let me know if that was not the way to go :) Silva Selva (talk) 15:17, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

Fixing the problem, followed by removing the (now invalid) tag, is exactly how you are supposed to do it! Thanks. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:13, 27 September 2023 (UTC)

Question from Eihn.flrs on Talk:Search engine (09:07, 29 September 2023)

Rostow's 5 Stages of growth provide a framework for understanding the economic development of nations. Each stage represents a different phase of growth and highlights key characteristics and dependencies. Here is a breakdown of the stages:

Stage 1: Traditional Society - This stage is characterized by subsistence living, barter systems, and reliance on agriculture. The economy is primarily rural and lacks significant industrialization or urbanization.

Stage 2: Transitional Stage - In this stage, economies begin to specialize in certain industries, leading to surpluses. Infrastructure development becomes important to support economic growth.

Stage 3: Take Off - Industrialization takes place, accompanied by increased investment and growing regional economic growth. Political changes may occur during this stage to support industrial development.

Stage 4: Drive to Maturity - Diversification and innovation become key drivers of growth. There is less reliance on imports as domestic industries expand and become more competitive. Investments play a crucial role in sustaining growth.

Stage 5: High Mass Consumption - This stage is characterized by a consumer-oriented economy where durable goods flourish. The service sector becomes dominant, reflecting a shift towards a more service-based economy.

These stages are often dependent on factors such as the global economy, market management, growth in developed economies, suburban economies, rural economies, and social appreciation of --Eihn.flrs (talk) 09:07, 29 September 2023 (UTC)

@Eihn.flrs: Welcome to Wikipedia. I think you meant to add the above to a different page of the site. In any case, I've left a message with a few links on your talk page. Please take the time to read through them. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 09:16, 29 September 2023 (UTC)

Question from Micky Maverick (00:55, 1 October 2023)

Hello, how can I move my draft to my article space? --Micky Maverick (talk) 00:55, 1 October 2023 (UTC)

@Micky Maverick: Welcome to Wikipedia. I assume you mean User:Micky Maverick/sandbox. It isn't ready for mainspace right now. Start with adding reliable sources (i.e. references) which back up what the article says. Following that you can use the WP:AFC process to submit your article. It will be checked by a reviewer and moved to mainspace (i.e. article space, as you called it) if it is deemed appropriate. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:41, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
what if nobody ever thought of it earlier or it wasn't published earlier? so I don't have any sources about the topic. all the sources for now is me.. is it possible that it goes to the mainspace when ready and then editors edit this to an appropriate version or give me feedback if it's okay or not okay to think like this? Micky Maverick (talk) 07:56, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
Wikipedia, in general, frowns upon original research. All facts in the 'pedia are backed up by other sources. If someone published something in mainspace, then per WP:BURDEN, other editors are allowed to remove material that isn't backed up by third-party sources. In this case, i think that your topic overlaps a lot with Facial nerve paralysis. You should fix any issues that you see in that article and add anything that you feel is missing, if you are able to back it up with sources. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 08:06, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
So the story is, Yesterday, when I was at the studio at night, I was very late. I had to come home at least half an before. So I was very worried about it that, "I'm so late, our doorman might shut all the gates off and then I won't be able to enter and I might have to spend the whole night on the road starving" I was very tensed in my brain and at that time, my brother was very excited about our new song that was going to be released soon and he was smiling and talking about how feels but I wasn't able to smile back naturally or respond to that. I kind of felt stuck that I want to smile but I could not. I've felt this kind of paralyzed in my life many times but somehow I forgot about this.... Micky Maverick (talk) 09:33, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
pardon some of my typos Micky Maverick (talk) 09:35, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
hey are you there? Micky Maverick (talk) 21:10, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
@Micky Maverick: Hey, I'm not on Wikipedia 24/7. I think you should take neurological issues seriously. It could be something minor/ignorable that you'll laugh about later, OR it could be something that if not taken care of right now, might turn into a much bigger issue. I'd really suggest that you visit/talk to a medical professional about this. Editing Wikipedia can always be done later. Take care of your health first. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:44, 2 October 2023 (UTC)
it's not exactly a face paralysis or a brain freeze. I don't think it's a neurological disorder.. maybe there are people out there who've felt this and they could relate. Micky Maverick (talk) 07:57, 2 October 2023 (UTC)
In its current state, it isn't going to be kept as a Wikipedia mainspace article. You'll have to find some scientific/medical discussion about this. Before that, you might have to find out what the scientists and/or doctors are actually calling this. It is possible that not knowing the name is causing you to draw a blank while finding references. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 08:07, 2 October 2023 (UTC)
Noted! maybe it's more related to psychology because it's more likely to be an issue with the mind. Thanks for the conversation. Micky Maverick (talk) 08:21, 2 October 2023 (UTC)

NPP award (2)

Hey, sorry for bugging you again about this, but wasn't I the "Fresh Reviewer of the Month" as the new reviewer with the most article reviews for the month of September? Looking at the most recent database report, I'm listed at having 117 article reviews in the past month while Skynxnex had only 76 - is there something about the award I'm missing? BeanieFan11 (talk) 13:14, 1 October 2023 (UTC)

Hi, BeanieFan11! For the past couple of months, I've been basing this award on a weighted point system which includes redirects (where redirect reviews are counted as one-fourth of an article review, just like in the latest Backlog drive). The query for new reviewers in September is here. That said, it looks like I didn't update Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Awards#For articles. Given that you might have been aiming for the award based on that info, I think you should get the award. I don't think it is right to penalize either you or Skynxnex for this, and believe that it is best if I give you both the award for September. I'll rectify the pages where the information is outdated. Sorry about this, and thanks for doing so many article reviews in September. Good luck in the Backlog drive. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:38, 2 October 2023 (UTC)
Thank you! BeanieFan11 (talk) 03:06, 2 October 2023 (UTC)
Congrats BeanieFan11! And thanks for the details MPGuy2824. Skynxnex (talk) 12:36, 2 October 2023 (UTC)

Question from DanteAug777 (05:58, 5 October 2023)

Hello Mr. MP I have a question regarding public domain images. Let's say I redesign or transform a public domain licensed image. Am I able to copyright the remixed version under CC BY-SA 4.0? --DanteAug777 (talk) 05:58, 5 October 2023 (UTC)

@DanteAug777: Welcome to Wikipedia! I think you should read Transformative use. I checked with a fellow editor (who knows more about copyright than me), and their reading was that it depends on how much the original image is changed. There is no clear-cut test for this, and it is subjective. It might help if you clarify what the original image is, and what you intend to change in it. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:37, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
Thank you @MPGuy2824 I will gladly read on the page you provided a link for. Have a good day! DanteAug777 (talk) 01:38, 6 October 2023 (UTC)

Bikramganj Assembly constituency

This is different from Bikram Assembly constituency of Patna region. This is a state assembly constituency of Bihar which is not in existence now. It ceased to exist after delimitation. It was located in Rohtas district. If you get time please create it with the list of MLAs. A Lok Sabha constituency within similar name also exists. But article about that is already on Wikipedia.[ https://resultuniversity.com/election/bikramganj-bihar-assembly-constituency]Admantine123 (talk) 19:37, 12 October 2023 (UTC)

Constituency lists

I noticed you've recreated List of constituencies of the Bhutan National Assembly. I had created the list a few years ago but merged it to the main National Assembly (Bhutan) because there isn't really any reason to have separate lists when it can suffice in the main article. I would recommend not creating separate lists like that for smaller Indian state assemblies either, just have the list in the main article. regards, TryKid[dubiousdiscuss] 09:19, 26 October 2023 (UTC)

November Articles for creation backlog drive

Hello MPGuy2824:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 2 months outstanding reviews from the current 4+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 November 2023 through 30 November 2023.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.

There is a backlog of over 1800 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:24, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

Question from Katamarisky (14:37, 9 November 2023)

Hi there. I'm relatively new to Wikipedia, and I just made what I would consider to be my first "big" edit. Is it possible that you would be able to take a look at it and make sure I didn't accidentally delete anything important? I'm not sure if I need to link the page here, or if you can just click on my profile and see my edit history there. --Katamarisky (talk) 14:37, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

@Katamarisky: Welcome to Wikipedia. To start with I've left you a list of links on your talk page. Now, to your questions: It is usually considered good wiki-etiquette to add a link to the page in question. In this case, since you've recently started editing, I was able to easily find your contribution to Chattanooga High School Center for Creative Arts. I agree with you that the page is quite promotional and has unnecessary detail for an encyclopedia page, and your edit reduced some of it. I've also made some small changes, and added a tag to a section on that page. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:11, 10 November 2023 (UTC)

Question from Anigagiladze (13:01, 6 November 2023)

Hello, my article has been rejected. I made changes but no one responds now, can you please explain what am I doing wrong? Thank you --Anigagiladze (talk) 13:01, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

@Anigagiladze: Welcome to Wikipedia. I've left you a list of links on your talk page. Please go through them. In addition:
  • From your last name it looks like you have a conflict of interest with the artist in question. There is a conversation that someone started on your talk page regarding this. Please read through it and follow the instructions to declare your conflict of interest (or lack of the same)
  • The draft still has promotional (and other) issues. I'll try to remove more of the promotional content.
  • The Articles for Creation wikiproject is currently running a backlog drive. If you submit the article now, it wouldn't take too long for someone to review it.
Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:31, 7 November 2023 (UTC)
I've improved the formatting of the article. I think that it still requires more reliable sources that talk about the subject in depth. In particular, the various claims in the biography and technique sections require verifiable sources. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:53, 7 November 2023 (UTC)
The technique resources are represented in the book which is for sale in Georgian and Dutch bookshops. There is no online version of the book so I don't know how to add it to the resources.
There also are couple videos, interviews with the artist, where he is describing technics but they are also all in Georgian language.
Let me know if it's okay to include any of it as a resource here on Wikipedia. Anigagiladze (talk) 09:19, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
@Anigagiladze: It is totally ok to add a book which isn't available online. See Help:Referencing for beginners. It is also ok to include videos, but in this case, since the subject is talking about the techniques himself, it might be more appropriate to include it in the "External Links" section. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 09:25, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
I edited the sources, please check and let me know if I'm doing it right. This whole thing turned out way more complicated than I expected lol. Anigagiladze (talk) 12:39, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
I've fixed the formatting to comply better with wikipedia standards. Try to edit only one section at a time and not the whole page. I'll continue this conversation on the draft's talk page. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:59, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
Also, yes he is my father, but I have no intention at all to make the article promotional. It's just that thousand people have been asking why they can't search info about famous artist ok Wikipedia, so I thought it would be helpful for people to search basic information about Merab on Wikipedia.
Sorry, the is the first time I'm creating a Wiki article, so I'm totally fine if you remove whatever you think is necessary. Anigagiladze (talk) 09:23, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
It's just that thousand people have been asking why they can't search info about famous artist on Wikipedia Hehe, I understand.
I'll really suggest that you read and do the suggestion mentioned in WP:DISCLOSE. I'll add some ideas to improve the draft on its talk page. We can continue that particular conversation there. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 09:30, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
