I always prefer to be pinged during a discussion rather than get a notice here except if it's procedural.
This includes when I send you a message on your talk page. Even though I am watching it, I still prefer to get a courtesy ping.
Generally, I respond to emails. If I don't right away, please be patient! I'm probably getting overworked then.
