Orphaned non-free media (Image:PianofinalfantasyIV.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:PianofinalfantasyIV.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:07, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
Double "vote"?
[edit]Hi, Judgesurreal777! You appear to have "voted" twice in the same AfD, see here and then here. I know it is not a vote and all, but I think we usually try not to use the bold face twice in the same discussion. As I indicated there, I assume good faith and that it was probably just a misread, but thought I might let you know anyway. Hope all is well! --Happy editing! New merge proposal
[edit]Hey there! I come with this new merge proposal regarding House-elves. It seems quite ridiculous to have a "group page" featuring only 4 characters (2 of which are really minor), and have larger lists with more important characters like the Death Eaters or the Hogwarts staff. That's why I come to invite you to join the discussion inTalk:House-elf#Merge proposal.

Something to suggest
[edit]Kefka might work as a character article. I've run across quite a few mentions praise for him as a villain, including several top tens, all of which citable. I'm swamped at the moment with things myself or I'd pursue that, but might be a good idea to bring up to the project. What do you think?--Kung Fu Man (talk) 02:24, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

A challenge
[edit]Here you go Judgesurreal777, as I suspect you see a fair few pages in your wiki-travels and I know you have a bit to say on the depth of coverage of cruft vs. encyclopedic material. In efforts to counteract systemic bias with sticks rather than carrots (and seeing what non-obscure stubs remain out there), i have listed a minicompetition of sortshere, so I'd be intrigued what comes up. NFIO tag
[edit]I am a little confused as to why you removed the tag from CD-i games from The Legend of Zelda series. It's fairly clear that the article does contain too many fair-use images - it has seven in all, and just because the article is about three different games doesn't give licence to include three times as many images. The tag puts the article into CAT:NFIO - how are editors supposed to keep track of articles with image problems without that? Black Kite 16:51, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
- I don't have a problem with discussing it on the talkpage at all, but the tag is useful in that it makes people comment on the issue. Regarding the article - it is an article about an unsuccesful set of video games and has seven non-free images in it. That's definitely not minimal. Black Kite 19:41, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Hello, you are receiving this message because you voted in the last FAC for this article. Currently, it is undergoing a peer review and I invite you to come view the page and offer any suggestions for improvement here [1]. Over the past three months, the page has been improved with additional scholarly works, trims, two new sections suggested in and attention to concerns raised during the last FAC. Thanks in advance for your time, attention and help to bring this important article to FA. NancyHeise talk 00:17, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Tunaktunakvideo.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Tunaktunakvideo.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have anexplanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Re: Two quick thoughts
[edit]So will you oppose the topic nomination if I include only the Prime trilogy? I'm building the topic per this.Gary King (talk) 02:25, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
- The lead article isn't what dictates what must be included. It's the scope of the topic; i.e. the title. The Star Wars episodes topic is a prime example. Also, I plan on making it a topic on the trilogy, not Prime. Gary King (talk) 03:22, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
- If I might chime in, there's a difference between Star Wars episodes and 3 video games out of 11 of the series. The 'Halo trilogy' FT only works in my opinion because at the time we nom'd it, there weren't any other halo games; the trilogy was the main part of the franchise, and the article primarily focus(ed/es) on it. With the pending release of three more games, that scope has changed somewhat. The Star Wars episodes are likewise the main aspects of the series. I'm not really sure it disqualifies the topic at all, I'm just looking at the other side of the coin. Sorry if I'm not clear, it's late and I'm going to be now :) Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 04:04, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:FinalfantasyIIIhero.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:FinalfantasyIIIhero.jpg.
Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:12, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Iraq and weapons of mass destruction GA Sweeps: On Hold

[edit]Sounds like it could be done, but I still want to get the rest of the articles on my list there to GA at least first. Replaceable fair use Image:Missionarieskabul.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Missionarieskabul.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. +Angr 14:38, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Re:Guitar Hero and Degrassi
[edit]Degrassi: The Next Generation (season 9) has actually been PRed (admittedly a long time ago, and barely as well) so following the rules, just needs a supplementary nomination to be added to the topic, and then the criteria is met again. Matthewedwards just hasn't done this sup nom, which is a bit annoying. Guitar Hero I feel sorry for because that topic is nuts in terms of so many articles all over the place. The PR of 5 is done (and it's now at GAN!), but Van Halen, DJ Hero and Band Hero all need PRing.Guitar Hero: On Tour series needs to be a GA, and looks about ready too aside from needing a Reviews of Modern Hits section. But having said that, that lack of GA is the big standout failing with the topic. If you want to nominate GH for removal, go ahead, I suspect Masem will save the topic and I feel sorry for him having to do this especially after the epic 3 month long sup nom it had just 3 months ago. He must be so sick of GH articles by now. Degrassi I think it's easier just to do the sup nom, or prod Matthewedwards to do it - rst20xx (talk) 01:00, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- "Activision is expecting to triple the number of games released under the Guitar Hero title by 2010." Oh dear... rst20xx (talk) 01:04, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, I think I'll hold off on nominating it too, though it seems like for now, all they need to do is put three articles at peer review and one at Good Article nomination and the topic will be safe. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 17:46, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Grim Fandango
[edit]Grim Fandango is a personal computer game in the graphic adventure genre released by LucasArts in 1998 and primarily written by Tim Schafer. It is the first adventure game by LucasArts to use 3D computer graphics overlaid on pre-rendered 2D backgrounds. As with otherLucasArts adventure games, the player must converse with other characters and examine, collect, and use objects correctly to solve puzzles in order to progress. Grim Fandango's world combines elements of Aztec beliefs of afterlife with style aspects of film noir, including The Maltese Falcon, On the Waterfront and Casablanca, to create the Land of the Dead, which recently departed souls, represented in the game ascalaca-like figures, must travel through before they reach their final destination, the Ninth Underworld. The story follows travel agent Manuel "Manny" Calavera as he attempts to save Mercedes "Meche" Colomar, a newly arrived but virtuous soul, during her long journey. The game received positive reviews, praising its artistic design and overall game direction in particular. Grim Fandango was selected for several gaming awards at the time of release, and is often listed in publishers' lists of top games of all time. However, the game has been considered a commercial failure, which partially led LucasArts to terminate their adventure game development, contributing to the decline of the adventure game genre. Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Judgesurreal777! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current69 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the{{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Typo: Gennady not Genndy Tartakovsky
[edit]Please correct the name, Gennady not Genndy Tartakovsky. I'm sure the change can somehow propagate through the references across the entire Wiki but I don't know how. Thanks.
The article Toshiyuki Mori has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- No interviews or biographies available to expand/source the article
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or onthe article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. The Prince (talk) 22:03, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

Reviewer granted
[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to onlya small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. –xenotalk 01:19, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm an arb and about to graduate, so my world's gone upside-down :P Yeah, Factions of Halo has been sitting around festering for quite some time. But if someone's waiting on me, then I guess I'll make it my next project :) Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 00:10, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
- Mostly we just need merch. and critical reception. We can summarize the Flood and Covenant fairly easily, it's just the human and Forerunner (esp.) will be harder. DYK for Roman Catholicism in Greenland
[edit]On 14 March 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Roman Catholicism in Greenland, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that in the 1300s, the Catholic Bishop of Greenland contributed walrus teeth to help fund the Crusades? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page(here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

License tagging for File:Tales ofbearsworth conflictboxart 160w.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Tales ofbearsworth conflictboxart 160w.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set ofimage copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation.--ImageTaggingBot (talk) 21:05, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

Since a larger Metroid topic is more viable... the above user is reviewing Metroid: Other M, the only game below GA level, and said all it needs to pass is prose fixing. Can you take a look? Thanks. igordebraga ≠ 20:15, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

The article Eastern Nepal has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or onthe article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
