New Page Review - newsletter
- Breaking the back of the backlog
If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Let's get that over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.
- Second set of eyes
Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work. Read about it at the new Monitoring the system section in the tutorial.
- Getting the tools we need - 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey: Please vote
With some tweaks to their look, and some additional features, Page Curation and New Pages Feed could easily be the best tools for patrollers and reviewers. We've listed most of what what we need at the 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey. Voting starts on 28 November - please turn out to make our bid the Foundation's top priority. Please help also by improving or commenting on our Wishlist entry at the Community Wishlist Survey. Many other important user suggestions are listed at at Page Curation.

Courtney Reed External Link
Hello! Thank you for you interest in the Courtney Reed article I created this morning. I read through the article you linked to Courtney Reed's Wikipedia page. I feel that the external link would be more applicable to the article for Aladdin the Musical, as it describes the musical specifically rather than just the actress. As always, I may have overlooked certain qualities of the article and it may very well fit into Courtney Reed's page. If this is so, please feel free to provide your own input. Thank you! Retribution
Do you at all fear some form of retribution from Wikipedia's founder, for overturning and solidifying content that he had rejected? - Truth about MVNOs (talk) 13:41, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
- No, because he rejected it for being unsourced. Now it's sourced. Everymorning (talk) 14:17, 14 December 2016 (UTC)

That was fast!!! / Notable?
Wow, I see you added to my page on Mrs. Coverlet's Magicians less than 20 minutes after I created it!
Since you are a new-page patroller, let me ask: is the book sufficiently notable for Wikipedia? Everyone read it, but it does not seem to have won any book-awards or anything like that. HandsomeMrToad (talk) 19:09, 25 December 2016 (UTC)
- I'm not sure. I looked for reliable sources but I couldn't find very many. Check to see if it meets the WP:NBOOK criteria. Everymorning (talk) 19:22, 25 December 2016 (UTC)
Půlnoc
Superbeat.cz only announces "the last Prague concert of the legendary Czech band Půlnoc" but the uploader seems to be trustworthy and I believe that it was really Půlnoc playing there, of course in a different line-up (Mejla is dead etc.) But the person sitting at the keyboard (right) is clearly Josef Janíček. Thanks for asking. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 18:58, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

Please add a new page?
Hi, Everymorning, I see that you're an experienced WP user/editor. I believe that my bio would merit inclusion as a notable person and I wanted you to look at it and, as a neutral third party, create the entry if you agree and if that's something you do. I've posted a draft of the entry on my User talk page (User_talk:Toxdoc411). I can email a formatted version, if you prefer. Thanks. Toxdoc411 (talk) 07:42, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
- Yeah, it seems like you're notable, being the editor-in-chief of a respected journal. To avoid conflicts of interest-related problems you could create it in the draft namespace yourself at Draft:Steven Seifert and then submit it through the articles for creation process. Everymorning (talk) 21:01, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
I'm a WP newbie, as you can tell. I'll do that. Thanks. Toxdoc411 (talk) 05:50, 7 January 2017 (UTC) Actually, every time I go to the Article Wizard, and indicate that I'm writing about myself, I get a message that says that I cannot because of the potential conflict of interest. Here's what that page says:
"Unfortunately writing an article about yourself (or someone or something very close to you; see the related page on advertising) involves a conflict of interest. This presents a number of problems, not the smallest of which is that it is very hard to remain neutral. Pages that introduce a conflict of interest are not being accepted by the Article Wizard at this time.
We encourage you to read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Autobiography. If the subject matter really merits an entry, then sooner or later someone will create one. Therefore we would encourage you not to create the article yourself. If you are determined to propose one, please find another Wikipedia editor to help write it...."
Which is why I selected you. I have created a formatted version as DRAFT:Steven A. Seifert Toxdoc411 (talk) 06:34, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
Thank you. That works for me. I guess it needed editing after all ;-).Toxdoc411 (talk) 16:49, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
Please see new note on your DYK nomination. Yoninah (talk) 22:17, 10 January 2017 (UTC)

As a member of WikiProject Cannabis, you are invited to help organize the project's upcoming "420" collaboration, which is scheduled for April 2017. Yes, we're a few months away, but we're hoping to get the ball rolling by getting buy-in from experienced Wikipedia editors and seek help fleshing out some goals and ideas for a successful campaign. We also plan to conduct both on-wiki and offlline outreach so non-Wikipedias can also contribute. If you are interested in participating, please sign up and contribute to the ongoing discussions. Hal Morgenstern: Notability?
Is Hal Morgenstern really notable enough to warrant a wikipedia page? Do you have some evidence of notability?
Best regards, KMeyer (talk) 18:33, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure he meets WP:PROF due to his very high h-index (>50 according to Google Scholar). Everymorning (talk) 03:23, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
That seems like a really low bar compared to notability requirements on the rest of Wikipedia. KMeyer (talk) 01:14, 20 January 2017 (UTC)
- I suppose thats true in a way. But there are a few reliable sources in the article too. Everymorning (talk) 01:38, 20 January 2017 (UTC)
DYK for Stella Chess
On 22 January 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Stella Chess, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a study by child psychiatrist Stella Chess and her husband, Alexander Thomas, found that children could be divided into three different categories: "easy", "difficult", and "slow to warm up"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Stella Chess. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Stella Chess), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

I replace your Speedy A7 with a BLP PROD. The claims of him being one of the early space tourists are a credible claim of notability in my opinion. The claims don't have to be sourced to avoid an A7, they just have to be credible. In this case, at least some of the claims are actually valid. See http://www.fox5vegas.com/story/17015067/flying-to-vegas-for-a-5000-flight?clienttype=printable for example.
Ah, I see someone has tagged it as a db-promo in the meantime, and mentioned that it has already been speedied earlier. Meters (talk) 23:57, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
New Page Review - newsletter No.2
- A HUGE backlog
We now have 811 New Page Reviewers!
Most of us requested the user right at PERM, expressing a wish to be able to do something about the huge backlog, but the chart on the right does not demonstrate any changes to the pre-user-right levels of October.
The backlog is still steadily growing at a rate of 150 a day or 4,650 a month. Only 20 reviews a day by each reviewer over the next few days would bring the backlog down to a managable level and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
It didn't work in time to relax for the Xmas/New Year holidays. Let's see if we can achieve our goal before Easter, otherwise by Thanksgiving it will be closer to 70,000.
- Second set of eyes
Remember that we are the only guardians of quality of new articles, we alone have to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged by non-Reviewer patrollers and that new authors are not being bitten.
- Abuse
This is even more important and extra vigilance is required considering Orangemoody, and
- this very recent case of paid advertising by a Reviewer resulting in a community ban.
- this case in January of paid advertising by a Reviewer, also resulting in a community ban.
- This Reviewer is indefinitely blocked for sockpuppetry.
Coordinator election
Kudpung is stepping down after 6 years as unofficial coordinator of New Page Patrolling/Reviewing. There is enough work for two people and two coords are now required. Details are at NPR Coordinators; nominate someone or nominate yourself. Date for the actual suffrage will be published later.
