Your GA nomination of Nellie McClung
The article Nellie McClung you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Nellie McClung for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. hey Ingenuity
Hey Ingenuity, can you please remove Capital Television Canberra from your subpage User:Ingenuity/Unreviewed articles by average pageviews because it’s a redirect now which targets to CTC (TV station) and it was reviewed in September. From Bas. Bassie f (talk) 05:22, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
Refresh entire AV list?
Is there a way to just refresh the entire list on AV? Not space bar of "[" or "]", but sometimes I space out or go do something else and come back to the list and then when I do that I have to refresh the page normally and I wish there was a key on a QWERTY keyboard key that you could just push for a full refresh instead of exiting and refreshing the page is all. TY. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 03:58, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Moops: clicking the trashcan icon in the top-left of the page deletes all items from the queue; I think that's what you're referring to? — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 21:40, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
- Oh neat, yes, that is what I was looking for. Is there a keyboard "hotkey" that activates that trashcan? Maybe make it the letter "T" if there isn't one now. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 22:36, 6 November 2022 (UTC)

Hey Ingenuity, My contribution was rejected saying youtube is not a reliable source. The you tube link has the actual TV show episodes in it. Please review again. Ninad.jugral (talk) 13:49, 8 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Ninad.jugral: you need sources which establish that the show is notable. A link to the show does not demonstrate that it is deserving of a Wikipedia article. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 14:48, 8 November 2022 (UTC)

Edit to Gadsden flag
Solid edit; but reversion of vandalism like that should not be tagged as a "minor" edit. Orange Mike | Talk 17:19, 8 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Orangemike rollback automatically adds the minor edit tag; per WP:MINOR, edits reverting obvious vandalism can be tagged as minor. I think the IP's edit could be classified as obvious vandalism, no? — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 17:28, 8 November 2022 (UTC)
- Can't argue with you there. I disagree with the decision of the designer of the 'rollback' utility, but then I'm dubious of the idea that something as vital as removal of vandalism should be classed as minor. I think it deserves better recognition when folks like you do that kind of vital but unglamorous work. Orange Mike | Talk 17:57, 8 November 2022 (UTC)
MovieandTelevisionFan new articles
This editor was recently reported to ANI for the atrocious quality of the writing in the articles they created. The three new articles you just approved had to be re-written to correct basic errors of grammar and style. Please be more careful of this editor's subissions and do not approve them if they are not up to Wikipedia's standard. Beyond My Ken (talk) 00:46, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Beyond My Ken: I'm aware of the ANI discussion; however, I don't think that the drafts were bad enough to decline—of the problems you pointed out on MATF's talk page, none couldn't be solved with a couple minutes of copy editing. All of the articles easily pass WP:NPOL, so notability isn't an issue. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 00:57, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
- Articles should not be advanced that require "a couple of minutes of copy editing" to pass muster. They should pass muster as is if they are t be advanced. Beyond My Ken (talk) 02:24, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

Suggestion
Hi @Ingenuity, I see you recently updated the AV script and improvised new preferences and also added new user warning templates. One little suggestion I wanted to give is to please add the {{uw-joke1}} template in the warnings section, as vandals often use improper humour and jokes in articles. Have a good day/night. Thanks. ❯❯❯ Raydann(Talk) 13:25, 13 November 2022 (UTC)

2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine edit request
YOU. BEAT. ME. I actually had saved it 8 minutes earlier, but really, the lag is very high, due to the very-long article, and the edit wouldn't get through... Had to step back for you to edit to avoid an edit conflict. Sarrail (talk) 22:16, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Sarrail hah... I remember back in February, when there was an edit almost every single minute and it was nearly impossible to publish an edit without having a conflict. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 22:58, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
John P. Allegrante
Hi Ingenuity, thank you for accepting the article on Allegrante and for letting me know about the issues. Are there particular sections that are still considered closely paraphrased? If so, I would like to address them. If not, could the template at the top of the page be removed? Please let me know what my approach should be; this is my first time as an editor dealing with this issue. Thanks again. Tjblmc20 (talk) 13:27, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @Tjblmc20. If you take a look at the copyvio report, there are a few phrases which are worded similarly to this source. I removed most of the text that was closely paraphrased before accepting, but it would be great if you can rewrite the remaining affected sentences. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 14:30, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @Ingenuity, thank you for directing me to this report. I have rewritten the affected sentences, but many things that are flagged looked to me to be titles and names of things, so I didn't touch those. Could I trouble you to take a second look at the article to see if the copyvio issues have been resolved, and if the banner could then be removed if appropriate? Thank you very much. Tjblmc20 (talk) 14:21, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Tjblmc20 looks good now, I've removed the tag. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 18:16, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Ingenuity Great, thank you. One last question--what would it require to remove the "multiple issues" banner which states that there is paid contributions on the article? I have removed the "orphan" banner as I have introduced links to the page in other articles... but is there a certain procedure for removing this tag? I'm not sure how the article could be revised for a more neutral point of view, so any advice would be helpful. Thanks again. Tjblmc20 (talk) 18:46, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Tjblmc20: the tone of the article is fine, so I've gone ahead and removed the tag. Please keep in mind that, now the article is in mainspace, you should make an edit request on the talk page for any major changes to the page. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 23:29, 16 November 2022 (UTC)

Scoular Anderson
I tried to make a draft for a page for Scoular Anderson (it was translated from the Italian page), but you rejected the draft. Why?2600:6C5A:417F:794E:9003:2DC6:DC9F:23C3 (talk) 16:03, 4 December 2022 (UTC)
- I didn't reject the draft, I only declined it, so you can resubmit after the issues are fixed. Different language Wikipedias have different standards for inclusion, so a person with a page on the Italian Wikipedia may not be notable enough for a page on the English Wikipedia. Since the draft is of a living person, it needs inline citations. Check out Help:Referencing for beginners for a guide on how to add citations. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 16:20, 4 December 2022 (UTC)

Request on 16:19:07, 9 December 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by Western Water
Hello
This page is a starting template for other people to add information to as events happen and when people know more information about the venue. I can't understand why it is constantly being rejected after I have done everything I have been asked to do? If it can be published and made public, other people will take over the page and add the relevant information.
Thank you for your help.
Western Water (talk) 16:19, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Western Water: unfortunately I cannot accept articles that do not yet meet Wikipedia's standards for inclusion. There's no guarantee that, if the article were to be published, someone else would improve it. As other reviewers have noted, the draft should have proper inline citations, and should not use Youtube as a source. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 17:46, 9 December 2022 (UTC)

- Thanks! Any shot of getting some of the upgrades in 2023 to the AV tool that I've been asking about maybe? :-D
- One in particular would be the ability to sort by types of edits seen. So that I don't see edits that aren't flagged as 'red' or 'orange', so I'd only see a stream of edits deemed to be the most problematic? Also, would be nice to be able to sort by things like "IP editors" only or "new accounts" (those that are not even autoconfirmed) etc.
- Those are all sort features that exist on the regular vandalism patrolling page, and I think it would be just excellent if your AV tool also has such sort functionality. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 17:02, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Moops: actually, that's already a feature! In your settings, set the minimum ORES score to something like 0.5, and you'll only see edits with a higher chance of being vandalism. Right now I'm in the process of completely rewriting the code, so there should be some new features within a week or two. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 17:05, 31 December 2022 (UTC)

Draft:Infant Jesus Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School
Hai Ingenuity, I recently made one article about my school Infant Jesus Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School situated in Kollam, Kerala. So I gave my article for submission, but my article was declined twice, first by Greenman and then by you. So, I just wanted to know the reason why that my article was declined and also the photos which I had uploaded in the WIkimedia Commons. I really can't figure out what's wrong in this. And initially, I had added the references but I later deleted them because of the first decline. Also, this is actually an translation of the already existing page https://ml.wikipedia.org/wiki/ഇൻഫന്റ്_ജീസസ്_സ്കൂൾ,_കൊല്ലം and I just wanted to know, how can this article be approved as an WIkipedia article. So, I wanted to know the reason and what all changes I have to make. Please, I hope you will help me — @Abhinavrpresad Abhinavrpresad (talk) 12:31, 15 December 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @Abhinavrpresad. Like any other organization, schools need to demonstrate that they meet the relevant notability guideline. Each language Wikipedia has different standards for inclusion, and the English Wikipedia is stricter than most, so a page on the school in another language does not mean that an article is able to be created about it here. As for the other article you pointed out, it was created in 2008, when notability and sourcing requirements were looser than they are now.
- Try adding more references to reliable sources, such as news articles about the school. Of the references currently in the draft, all are mere mentions of the school, and none show significant coverage. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 17:24, 16 December 2022 (UTC)

New Pages Patrol newsletter January 2023
Hello Ingenuity,
- Backlog
The October drive reduced the backlog from 9,700 to an amazing 0! Congratulations to WaddlesJP13 who led with 2084 points. See this page for further details. The queue is steadily rising again and is approaching 2,000. It would be great if <2,000 were the “new normal”. Please continue to help out even if it's only for a few or even one patrol a day.
- 2022 Awards
Onel5969 won the 2022 cup for 28,302 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 80/day. There was one Gold Award (5000+ reviews), 11 Silver (2000+), 28 Iron (360+) and 39 more for the 100+ barnstar. Rosguill led again for the 4th year by clearing 49,294 redirects. For the full details see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone!
Minimum deletion time: The previous WP:NPP guideline was to wait 15 minutes before tagging for deletion (including draftification and WP:BLAR). Due to complaints, a consensus decided to raise the time to 1 hour. To illustrate this, very new pages in the feed are now highlighted in red. (As always, this is not applicable to attack pages, copyvios, vandalism, etc.)
New draftify script: In response to feedback from AFC, the The Move to Draft script now provides a choice of set messages that also link the creator to a new, friendly explanation page. The script also warns reviewers if the creator is probably still developing the article. The former script is no longer maintained. Please edit your edit your common.js or vector.js file from User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js
to User:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft.js
Redirects: Some of our redirect reviewers have reduced their activity and the backlog is up to 9,000+ (two months deep). If you are interested in this distinctly different task and need any help, see this guide, this checklist, and spend some time at WP:RFD.
Discussions with the WMF The PageTriage open letter signed by 444 users is bearing fruit. The Growth Team has assigned some software engineers to work on PageTriage, the software that powers the NewPagesFeed and the Page Curation toolbar. WMF has submitted dozens of patches in the last few weeks to modernize PageTriage's code, which will make it easier to write patches in the future. This work is helpful but is not very visible to the end user. For patches visible to the end user, volunteers such as Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have been writing patches for bug reports and feature requests. The Growth Team also had a video conference with the NPP coordinators to discuss revamping the landing pages that new users see.
- Reminders
- Newsletter feedback - please take this short poll about the newsletter.
- There is live chat with patrollers on the New Page Patrol Discord.
- Please add the project discussion page to your watchlist.
- If you no longer wish to be a reviewer, please ask any admin to remove you from the group. If you want the tools back again, just ask at PERM.
- To opt out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.
A barnstar for you!

DYK for Among Us VR
On 10 January 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Among Us VR, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the developers of Among Us VR said that the game could have been too spooky? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Among Us VR. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Among Us VR), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hello, Ingenuity,
I was wondering when you approved this draft if you knew that it had been the subject of an AFD discussion (actually several AFDs) with the final decision to Delete the article. It had just been restored to Draft space when I guess it had been submitted for review with very few changes. I think if you are reviewing a submission and the page history goes back to 2017, it should prompt more investigation. Right now, the article has been tagged for speedy deletion, CSD G4 but I'm going to let another administrator review this one. I just wanted to let you know about it in case it is deleted before you return to the project. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 08:59, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know, @Liz. Looks like the G4 has been declined though. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 22:19, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
Aguilera album review
Could you review Aguilera (album) please? It is rated C-class, and I want to improve it. I would appreciate it if you reviewed the page and gave advice to improve the page, or update the rating if necessary. 204060baby (talk) 16:39, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
- @204060baby looks pretty good to me. The prose is good, it's well formatted, and almost all of the references are reliable. I would suggest limiting the number of Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram sources, and replacing them with RSs where possible. I'm not super knowledgeable about albums, so you may want to ask on Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums or similar WikiProjects for more specific advice, but it looks to me to be at least B-class. You may want to nominate it for good article status, as it's pretty close to being there already. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 00:27, 18 January 2023 (UTC)
How do I give you barnstars?
I want to give you an Anti-vandalism barnstar because you almost always beat me to reverting vandalism, but I don't know how. Can you tell me please? -- Grapefanatic (talk) 18:34, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hey @Grapefanatic! You can see some guidance at Wikipedia:Barnstars. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 22:22, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
Hello, thanks for all the user-scripts you've created! User:Ingenuity/preview.js seems to fail when a page name contains special characters that are encoded in the URI.
Example: A link to Siege of Thessalonica (1422–1430) where your script fails to decode (1422%E2%80%931430)
back to (1422–1430)
and displays an error message.
An easy fix would be to decode all characters in the title before sending it to mw.API:
− |
if (event.target.tagName.toLowerCase() === "a" && event.shiftKey) {
event.preventDefault();
| + |
if (event.target.tagName.toLowerCase() === "a" && event.shiftKey) {
event.preventDefault();
const pageName = decodeURIComponent(event.target.href.split("/wiki/")[1]);
showPagePreview(pageName);
}

AntiVandal Question
Hi. You created the AntiVandal tool? I have tried using it recently, it is rather fast although easier to accidentally revert than just prowling the Recent Changes page. On the settings of the tool, I can alter the Maximum queue size but not the number for how many edits the users shown have done: "Show edits from users with fewer than n edits", where n is an integer, fixed at 50. Is there a way to alter this value? I do not seem able to. Thank you. ButterCashier (talk) 09:41, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hey @ButterCashier! I've fixed the bug, it appears that on some screen sizes there was an invisible box over top of that input that prevented you from clicking on it. Should work now. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 11:55, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you, it works now! ButterCashier (talk) 11:59, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
Editing Chai_(disambiguation)
Hi, I noticed your comment while undoing my edit on Chai_(disambiguation). You said - "that's not how this works. to change a page's tile, it needs to be moved -- not just copy/pasted"'. The problem with that is that
- Chai_(disambiguation) - should have the current content of Chai
- Chai - should have the current content of Masala Chai
- Masala Chai - should be deleted.
How is it possible to do this? I believe I tried to do this a while back but ran into some problem while requesting a move. Would appreciate your help. thegodofbigthings (talk) 20:28, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Thegodofbigthings. Yes, that's possible; you'll need to open a requested move on Talk:Masala chai, stating which pages you think should be moved and your reasoning. You can find guidance on how to do this at WP:RMPM. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 20:32, 24 January 2023 (UTC)

- @Kapecazz: your edits were not neutral point of view and you did not cite any reliable sources. You also added a link to a Reddit post, which should absolutely not be included in the article. When adding content to an article, please find reliable sources to support the information and write in an encylopedic, neutral tone. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 16:44, 26 January 2023 (UTC)

Request for reviewing a Draft
Hai Ingenuity, it's me Abhinavrpresad who was creating the Infant Jesus School article. So my article is ready and as per your instruction, I have added references of news articles and other reliable citations and references.
So, this is my draft: Draft:Infant Jesus Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School
I request you to please review my draft and let me know any corrections in it. - @Abhinavrpresad (talk)
Abhinavrpresad (talk) 12:57, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hey @Abhinavrpresad. Looks like someone else has reviewed it. Keep in mind that schools must meet the notability guideline for organizations or the general notability guideline (see WP:NSCHOOL). The sources currently in the draft do not show significant coverage of the school, as most only mention it. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 03:41, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- Okay Ingenuity, I'll try again to find more reliable sources. Thanks for the Help Abhinavrpresad (talk) 15:52, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

Review
Hi. You recently reviewed my draft at Draft:Hypixel_Skyblock, first off, thanks for all you do, and for taking the time to review my draft. It was declined due to citations, reason being that Fandom and YouTube are not valid citations. I understand Fandom, but I'm curious as to why YouTube isn't valid? In my opinion, it's just any other form of publishing just in a book. Do you know why it would be considered an invalid citation? Thanks. --Spacebyte (talk) 21:02, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Spacebyte: Youtube, unlike news websites, is anonymous: anyone can publish whatever video they want, and there's no fact-checking. You can see more about this at WP:RSPYT. Unfortunately the new citations you added to the draft aren't reliable, either. The Hypixel website is not independent, and Twitter and Planet Minecraft are not reliable. To establish notability, you should should aim for at least three mainsteam media references (for example, The New York Times or Wall Street Journal). These sources should also demonstrate significant coverage (at least 3-4 paragraphs of content on the subject). Additionally, every statement in the draft should be backed up with a reference. If there are not enough references available that meet this standard, it's likely not notable enough for an article. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 21:26, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
