New page Ema Horvath

Hi! I would like to create a new page about Ema Horvath. I don't know how to do and I made a draft page here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Ema_Horvath but I don't know if it's good and if it's the right way to create a new page. Could you check it, please? Thanks!--SnIoemon2 (talk) 13:09, 27 June 2018 (UTC)

@SnIoemon2: It looks like you've properly added it to the Articles for Creation queue; unfortunately that just takes a while. Looking at your draft right now, it doesn't seem like Ema Hovath meets the notability standard for actors/actresses (which you can find at WP:NACTOR). You'll need to find and include more reliable sources that indicate her notability (or, if you can't find any such sources, it simply might not be possible for her to have an article right now). For your own future reference, you might also take a look at WP:Notability, which broadly describes how notability works on Wikipedia for all types of articles. –IagoQnsi (talk) 13:14, 27 June 2018 (UTC)
Thanks!! She is an American actress. Her most known movies were released at the beginning of this year. I will try to find much more sources about her. I will read the pages you linked me. Thank You so much and best regards--SnIoemon2 (talk) 13:28, 27 June 2018 (UTC)

Ways to improve Aftab Pureval

Hi, I'm Vexations. IagoQnsi, thanks for creating Aftab Pureval!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Subject doesn't appear to meet WP:POLITICIAN

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Vexations (talk) 20:20, 30 June 2018 (UTC)

@Vexations: I didn't create this page -- I created a redirect there, and User:PatrickGCain turned it into a page. Given that the page has already been deleted twice via AfD, and nothing has changed since the last one, I'm just going to revert it to a redirect. –IagoQnsi (talk) 20:22, 30 June 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:20, 28 July 2018 (UTC)

Gene Klein

Thanks for taking the initiative to fix the broken links to Gene Klein, the businessman, when the soccer coach was initially made the primary topic. It's sometimes tricky to know if the alternative name (Gene Klein) should be displayed instead of the actual title (Eugene V. Klein at the time). In the future, if you just want to fix the wrong link and stay out of renaming issues, you can also consider just piping to the new link e.g. [[Eugene V. Klein|Gene Klein]] instead of plain [[Eugene V. Klein]]. This keep the text at status quo, while resolving the dab issue. Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 08:40, 17 August 2018 (UTC)

You just don't get it

You have written enough and now it's daunting for a newcomer. Stop writing for a while, and read what a completely different legal entity means.

On a separate issue, stop pushing people to answer your questions when you do not engage in their discussion points. You keep wanting your questions answered when you don't acknowledge that they have been answered, but not in a way you like, and then you don't recognize the points made by others. For instance, I stated that MLS holds all of the player contracts for the league. Can that be said about any other company, whether sports or otherwise? ArbCom 2018 election voter message

Hello, IagoQnsi. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

Got you little message....Facts and realty are now not constructive? That sounds an awful lot like what we get from the president and his alternative facts nonsense. ohio 2018 house election

Hi, how exactly are the infoboxes on the House articles useful when half of them don't even have pictures? It makes the house article more cluttered than it needs to be. Also on every other single 2018 House article there is no infobox whatsoever. Also you undid my edit, without looking to see that I updated the vote totals after Ohio's certification of the votes. VietPride10 (talk) 23:30, 8 December 2018 (UTC)

@VietPride10: Just because we're missing some photos doesn't mean it's not valuable to have the ones we do. It's particularly valuable for the candidates who don't have their own article, so you can't just click their name to see a picture. Sorry I didn't see the vote total changes, but you didn't mention it in your edit summary. –IagoQnsi (talk) 00:03, 9 December 2018 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Seattle Reign FC logo.svg

Thank you for uploading File:Seattle Reign FC logo.svg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I've arranged to upload the women's basketball final four logos in the past, but it appears they change the way Access is granted. You have access based on this image:

I see that the 2020 logo is now available: http://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/files/2020MWFF-Logos.png

Could I ask you to download it and either add it to the relevant article or let me know and I'll add it.--S Philbrick(Talk) 02:40, 5 December 2019 (UTC)

Non-diffusing categories

Hello, a friendly note that per WP:EGRS: In almost all cases, gendered/ethnic/sexuality/disability/religion-based categories should be non-diffusing, meaning that membership in the category should not remove membership from the non-gendered/non-ethnic/etc. parent category.

You moved for example, Jian Ghomeshi from Category:Canadian podcasters to Category:Canadian men podcasters but, assuming I understand the guidelines correctly, the page should be under both categories. WanderingWanda (talk) 08:57, 12 February 2020 (UTC)

I came here to point out the same thing. I'm also concerned if these gendered categories should exist at all. Quoting WP:CATGENDER, A gender-specific category could be implemented where gender has a specific relation to the topic. I don't see a specific relation between gender and podcasting and don't think these categories aid navigation. ‑‑Trialpears (talk) 11:02, 12 February 2020 (UTC)
Thank you both for the messages. I'm more used to doing category work over on Commons, where COM:OVERCAT is the law of the land; I didn't realize the rules on Wikipedia were significantly different. @WanderingWanda: Thank you for that info; I will go through now and restore the parent categories that I removed yesterday. @Trialpears: I tend to lean towards having the gender categories, as it seems to be the norm for artistic/performative occupations. We categorize actors, models, musicians, comedians, YouTubers, etc by gender (see Category:Men by occupation and Category:Women by occupation); it seems like podcasters fit in this same category. –IagoQnsi (talk) 16:36, 12 February 2020 (UTC)

British men podcasters

You have created Category:British men podcasters when all the similar categories within Category:British men by occupation are titled "British male XXX". Perhaps you might consider changing it to "British male podcasters" for the sake of consistency? --Qwfp (talk) 21:54, 12 February 2020 (UTC)

GS Notice and Inappropriate use of SPA template

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

Please carefully read this information:

A community discussion has authorised the use of general sanctions for pages related to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The specific details of these sanctions are described here.

Broadly, general sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after he or she has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. This notification is meant to inform you that sanctions are authorised in these topic areas, which you have been editing. It is only effective if it is logged here. Before continuing to edit pages in these topic areas, please familiarise yourself with the general sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

Further, do not improperly use {{spa}} like you did here and here. A brief glance at that user's contribs clearly show they are not an SPA. EvergreenFir (talk) 00:17, 20 March 2020 (UTC)

Tagging as suspected single-purpose accounts users who have long histories of editing on other topics

IagoQnsi, in this edit, you tagged several users as being suspected single-purpose accounts. Among these were Proofbygazing, HLFH, PatentlyObtuse, and TheDarkMaster2. In this edit, you tagged Mattamsn. In this edit, you tagged Yaksha Prashna. All of these users have extensive histories of editing on unrelated topics. Your lack of discretion is very concerning, as this activity can be easily seen as trying to unfairly influence opinion. Please be more careful of whom you tag in the future. I should remind you that the Spanish flu article is under General Sanctions, so we should all be especially careful with such edits. BirdValiant (talk) 00:33, 20 March 2020 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I wasn't sure what the criteria was for using that template. The template is called "spa" but the message it shows is "This user has made few or no other edits", so I thought it was okay to use even if someone's account isn't literally an SPA. When someone's first edit in over a year is on a controversial talk page discussion, it kind of gives the impression that they might have been drawn here by some off-wiki canvassing.
I wasn't trying to unfairly influence opinion. I was sort of using "<100 edits" as my rule for applying that tag, regardless of what their vote was (and there were indeed a few "support" voters I tagged).
From both you and User:EvergreenFir messaging me, it seems clear I was in the wrong, so I apologize. I'll quit using that tag unless it's entirely unambiguous that someone is an SPA.
As for the sanctions, I wasn't aware of them before now -- I haven't really been editing much on COVID-19-related articles besides this one. It looks like it was just an hour ago that EvergreenFir added a tag to the Talk:Spanish flu (and notified me above), so I'll keep that in mind moving forward. --IagoQnsi (talk) 01:39, 20 March 2020 (UTC)

I uploaded the 2021 women's basketball final four logo which was unveiled two days ago. @Sphilbrick: Hey, sorry I totally forgot to respond to this! I've looked on the NCAA site and it appears that only the men's 2021 Final Four logos are available; I can't find the women's files anywhere. It looks like they were uploading lots of 2021 logos across all sports until March 17. That's the same day that the 2020 tournaments were cancelled, so I suspect they've shut everything down and won't be uploading stuff until the world gets a little bit back to normal. I'll keep an eye out for it though. –IagoQnsi (talk) 04:01, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
IagoQnsi, thanks for checking, my guess is that you are right. On a mostly unrelated issue, I tried reaching out to the NCAA a couple weeks ago, thinking that they might not be all that busy, but I never got a response.--S Philbrick(Talk) 20:47, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

Invite to Join WikiProject for Spoken Wikipedia

Hi IagoQnsi! I am Galendalia and I have revived the WikiProject for Spoken Wikipedia. I noticed that you signed up at some point to be a participant and as I am reviving this project, one of my tasks is to get the participant list in order. Would you please go to the Participants List and add your name and language(s) you speak? If you are already there and do not want to be, please move yourself to the inactive list at the bottom of the page. If you want to remain, please put remain next to your name (this way you are not moved). If I do not see anything from you by May 30, 2020, I will move you to the inactive participant list. It would also be great if you would be willing to join the task force for Pronunciation that would be awesome, as there are troublesome words we run into.

Thank you for considering joining us. If you decide to leave, I will be sad to see you leave as so many people have done a great job on the recordings and any work you have done makes a significant difference.

DYK for Game of Change

On 19 June 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Game of Change, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in 1963, a majority-black Loyola-Chicago team and an all-white Mississippi State team defied segregationists to play a historic college basketball game (pictured)? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Game of Change. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Game of Change), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. WikiConference North America

Hi there! I hope all is well. I am planning on having a WikiConference North America sports panel December 12 3:00 EST. This is something that has never been done before and there are many sports which are "native" to North America and part of the America identity. As you are very involved in college basketball, would you be interested in participating? HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:15, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

@HickoryOughtShirt?4: Sure, that sounds interesting. I've never done any WikiConference stuff before; what exactly would I be doing? --IagoQnsi (talk) 20:31, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
LOL, I have never done it either. What it seems to be is that we (you, me, and other members of WikiSports) will be in a Zoom (or other video conferencing app) to discuss our experiences in editing sports on Wikipedia. These can range from combating vandalism to how to best get permission to use sports photos. The organizers of WikiConference North America (WCNA) created an Etherpad surrounding planning which I will link here. if you Command F "sports" you will find the section. This will be the very first panel WCNA has ever had on sports so not much to go off of here. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:38, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
@HickoryOughtShirt?4: Oh okay cool, yeah I've got some stuff I could talk about. I'd love to advocate for using old newspapers without copyright notices (more common than you'd think) to find photos. The Duke Chronicle didn't include a copyright notice until 1986; I've found so many great PD basketball photos in their archives and yet I've barely scratched the surface. --IagoQnsi (talk) 21:31, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

Changes to page Tom Scott

Hi IagoQnsi,

I hope this is the 'proper' way to send you a direct message. I recently made an edit to the page for Tom Scott. I'm very sorry, I'm not very familiar with Wikipedia editing. I do have a source, but I do not know how to incorporate it into the page properly. The source is UK website Companies House, where you can view information about UK based/registered companies and their director(s). Knowing Mr. Scott's company name (Pad 26), I had a look. Companies House lists Thomas David Scott as sole company director. Link: https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/11662641/officers

As I'm not sure how to work it into the page properly, maybe you could?

Thanks,

Replaceable fair use File:AustinFC Stadium-3 RGB.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:AustinFC Stadium-3 RGB.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ytoyoda (talk) 20:18, 9 July 2021 (UTC)

Malfunctioning dash script

It appears the script you used to make this edit is not designed correctly. For example, the section numbers in the online US State Department Foreign Affairs Manual contain the hyphen-minus character, but you changed them to n-dashes. I have reverted the edit. Aftab Pureval

Thanks for creating Aftab Pureval. Note that you didn't have to wait for him to be elected to move the article to mainspace. The extensive coverage of his campaigns made him meet WP:GNG, and since he had multiple campaigns with extensive coverage he wasn't covered by the WP:ONEEVENT exception. The previous deletion from 2017 was outdated and no longer relevant once he received coverage from his new campaign. Antony–22 (talkcontribs) 02:43, 3 November 2021 (UTC)

@Antony-22: Thanks for the message. I figured I maybe could have published it, but I didn't want to chance dealing with yet another AfD. Cheers, IagoQnsi (talk) 02:46, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
