Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, History6042, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Eric Danon, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

New to Wikipedia? Please consider taking a look at our introductory tutorial or reviewing the contributing to Wikipedia page to learn the basics about editing. Below are a few other good pages about article creation.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, ask me on my talk page. You can also type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! Taking Out The Trash (talk) 16:57, 16 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Eric Danon has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Hélène Le Gal

[edit]

Hi. I hope you are fine. I have removed a lot of unreferenced information. The new page review is one of the last approval stages, so when I see a page like this with a large amount of unreferenced information, and no {{In use}} tag to show that the page is undergoing a major build, I tend to err on the side of caution and remove the unreferenced information. You have a lot of numbered sources at the bottom, but they aren't linked to any of the points in the article, and I can't guess where they might fit best. Did they come from something else?

The easiest solution is for you to add the tag to indicate the page is still under construction (if it is). This prevents me and other editors from editing the page until the process is complete and the tag is removed. Please assume good faith of me, as I do of you. By all means add the information again when you can add the references. Best wishes, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 11:15, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Molly Weasley into Draft:Molly Weasley. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 22:34, 25 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: Hélène Le Gal has been accepted

[edit]
Hélène Le Gal, which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.

Congratulations, and thank you for helping expand the scope of Wikipedia! We hope you will continue making quality contributions.

The article has been assessed as Stub-Class, which is recorded on its talk page. It is commonplace for new articles to start out as stubs and then attain higher grades as they develop over time. You may like to take a look at the grading scheme to see how you can improve the article.

Since you have made at least 10 edits over more than four days, you can now create articles yourself without posting a request. However, you may continue submitting work to Articles for creation if you prefer.

If you have any questions, you are welcome to ask at the help desk. Once you have made at least 10 edits and had an account for at least four days, you will have the option to create articles yourself without posting a request to Articles for creation.

If you would like to help us improve this process, please consider leaving us some feedback.

Thanks again, and happy editing!

An article you recently created, List of ambassadors of France to Denmark, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Your good article nomination of Im Yunjidang

[edit]

Hello, I'm letting you know that I've reverted your nomination of Im Yunjidang as a good article. It's usually expected that articles are nominated by one of the main contributors to the article, because it's important that the nominator is familiar with the article's subject and the sources being used. Please feel free to nominate more articles in the future, but make sure they're ones where you're the main contributor. Questions about the good article process can be asked at Wikipedia talk:Good article nominations. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 15:31, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi History6042, similar to the above, I have removed the GAN from Isamu Imoto. While the rules note there is latitude around what can be a GAN, this latitude is not as large as the wording might suggest it is, and a stub is not close to sufficient for a GA. Concerns were also raised about Talk:Maurice Duplessis/GA1, which does not show what was reviewed and how. Wikipedia processes are often somewhat inscrutable, so it's giving a bit of time to familiarise yourself with them. Best, CMD (talk) 03:12, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Notice

The article Islands of Insight has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:N and WP:NOTCRYSTAL.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Angelos Almouti requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. ASUKITE 17:44, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Patrick Maisonnave

[edit]

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your efforts to improve Wikipedia, and in particular for adding references, as you did to Patrick Maisonnave! However, you should know that adding a bare URL is not ideal, and exposes the reference to linkrot. It is preferable to use proper citation templates when citing sources. A bare URL is a URL cited as a reference for some information in an article without any accompanying information about the linked page. In other words, it is just URL copied and pasted into the Wiki text, inserted between <ref>...</ref> tags, without title, author, date, or any of the usual information necessary for a bibliographic citation. Here's an example of a full citation using the {{cite web}} template to cite a web page:

Lorem ipsum<ref>{{cite web |title=Download the Scanning Software - Windows and Mac |publisher=Canon Inc |work=Ask a Question |date=2022 |url=https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART174839 |access-date=2022-04-02}}</ref> dolor sit amet.

which displays inline in the running text of the article as:

Lorem ipsum[1] dolor sit amet.

and displays under References as:

1. ^ Download the Scanning Software - Windows and Mac". Ask a Question. Canon Inc. 2022. Retrieved 2022-04-02.

If you've already entered one or more bare urls to an article, there are tools available to expand them into full citations; try the reFill tool, which can resolve some bare references semi-automatically. Once again, thanks for adding references to articles, and to avoid future link rot, please consider supplementing your bare URLs—creating full, inline citations with title, author, date, publisher, etc. More information can be found at Wikipedia:Inline citations. Thank you. Edward-Woodrow :) [talk] 13:04, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

GA review of Arithmetic

[edit]

Hello History6042 and thanks for taking the time to review the article Arithmetic. In its current form, the review states that the article passes the review but it does not explain how you came to that conclusion. This might make it difficult for other editors to understand why the article fulfills these criteria. It would be helpful if you could add a short text to describe how each criterion was checked since the GA instructions require that An in-depth review must be provided (see WP:GAN/I#R3).

For example, in regard to the first criterion, you could explain in what sense it is "reasonably well written" by describing how your reading experience of the different sections was in terms of style, grammar, and understandability. In regard to the sources, it would be good to add a short spot-check by writing down a few sentences from the article and assessing whether the references given in the article actually support them. Many of the sources used are available online. Phlsph7 (talk) 16:08, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free images

[edit]

Hello. I noticed you added images to several Austrian and Singaporean election articles. However the articles in question are not free images, and are only on Wikipedia under conditions that they are limited to use in certain articles. For example, you can see on the Friedrich Peter image that it has a "Media data and Non-free use rationale" which limits its use to the Friedrich Peter article. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Royal Tongan Marines requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.aeroflight.co.uk/ops/mil/his-majestys-armed-forces-of-tonga.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Thanks for your contributions to Tongan Air Wing. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and it may be best to make this a redirect to His Majesty's Armed Forces (Tonga). I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Hello. Thank you for creating this article, but I noticed that the text you included was not supported by the source used. You used the source to reference the fact that all 310 seat were won by the Communist Party. However, the source makes no mention of the seat allocation, only the professions/backgrounds of some of the elected members. Number 57 00:52, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

But the whole point of using a source is to represent what it says. You can't write some text and then add a random source to it... Number 57 19:53, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was meaning to use that source to say that there were 310 seats existing. I did not mean to use it for that, sorry. History6042 (talk) 21:00, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand if this caused confusion, I will think about this in the future. History6042 (talk) 21:03, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Tupou VI

[edit]

On 27 August 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Tupou VI, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Tupou VI was crowned by D'Arcy Wood, an Australian, in order to respect the tradition of native Tongans not touching the king's head? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Tupou VI. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Tupou VI), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Women in Green's "Around the World in 31 Days" GA Editathon – October 2024

[edit]

Hello History6042:

WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2024!

Running from October 1 to 31, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.

We hope to see you there!

closing RM on Montserrat

[edit]

Hi there. I noticed you closed this saying almost every single person has opposed. Sadly, this is not consistent with the WP:CONS policy - the discussion is not a vote, and decisions should be made based on reasons based in policy, sources, and common sense. Can you please relist the discussion, keeping it running so we continue to get more quality input? A lot of the input so far from people have in fact been bland votes based on no apparent reasoning, or based on an apparently incorrect reading of statistics I posted. --Joy (talk) 16:22, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oh ok. History6042 (talk) 18:11, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Linn-Elise Øhn Mehlen moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Linn-Elise Øhn Mehlen. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:56, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
