Your baseball pictures on Commons
Hi,
Can you review all your baseball pictures on Commons and indicate the source of the photos? --Dereckson (talk) 06:50, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
- Good afternoon,
- Thank you for your precisions. I'll be able to fix your pictures description with that.
- File:PGEPark.jpg - Could you upload the original, high resolution picture, if you still have it, using the link Upload a new version of this file here or on the bottom on the page? 600×359 is poor resolution for printing purpose.
- File:Danny Core.jpg - This picture is the last still missing proper source. Have you the Flickr URL?
- Have a nice day. --Dereckson (talk) 15:49, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Hello there sir...
Hey you, help me get started with my wikiediting... Theegodfather06:45, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
Home run is two words
This is an effort to prevent me from having to fix it another dozen or so times in you future edits. Other than that, you're doing a nice job on your new baseball articles. Thanks for your hard work. cMajorclanger (talk) 14:03, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you. I believe that's two words. :) Keep up the good work. --Halvorsen brian (talk) 03:21, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Blue Jays
Baseball America is not a blog (it is a very good source since they list all of the team's farm rankings); the minor league transactions were one. You see the BlueJays.com doesn't list those transactions because they are not significant. At the end of the year (when the team is done playing) all of the players on the 40-man get called up. They really don't (because they is no distinction between the 40-man and active roster in the offseason) and that is why BlueJays.com has not listed them. They have not switched over from the active to 40-man yet, but will when they start signing non-roster invitees. So that is why I am switching over all rosters from MLB roster to MLB Spring Training roster; because they have to be done some time and now is an opportunity that I have, so thats I was switching now. You can help with it. Thanks. Ositadinma 00:58, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- No, no, no. I agree with you. The reason why I did it now was because I had some free time. It takes a long time to convert the regular season rosters to spring training rosters, and I did not know if anybody else would help. I know that the 2009 season is not over, but the Blue Jays is and since I had some free time and the players on the 40-man get recalled at the end of the season I went ahead and did it. The transctions are minor league ones, so you would have to look on MiLB.com too see those because the 2009 minor league season is over and minor leaguers are declaring free agency. That is why teams are outrighting players to the minors and recalling them because the rosters get frozen in November. Ositadinma 01:09, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- It's not patronizing, I was explaining the reason and my reason why I made the contrib. If you look at my contribs you see that I edit the rosters alot too. Plus, you used the word think, maybe you didn't know or you were being sarastic. I don't now how to intreprt your words if you are typeing and not standing in front of me. Ositadinma 01:13, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- I agree, like I said it takes some time to convert the rosters and I had some free time. What inspired me was some IP changed the Mets roster with that blog as a source. I knew it was to early but since there is not on contributer on wiki (JustSomeRandomGuy32 retired) that I can trust 100% with the MLB rosters, I decided to change some of them because I had the time even though I knew they were to early. Plus changing them now means that the teams' season is over and perparing for 2010. Thats why I went ahead with my plan. I understand were you are coming from. After the World Series you can help with the transitions of the rest of them if you want. Ositadinma 01:19, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- It is alright, alot of editors do use sarcasm, but it is hard to tell the difference between sarcasm and what you really meant to say on a computer. There is not tone a voice which makes the difference between the two. Ositadinma 01:24, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- Changes are already happening; like players geting called up or outrightd. Just see MiLB.com transactions (They are more detailed than MLB.coms'). More people edit navboxes beacuse they are easier to sort than the templates because most people are better with their numbers than alphabate. This is some strange phenomena across the U.S. Ositadinma 01:29, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- Noooo, those are from 2007 if you did not notice, but again it is from Baseball America. The transactions I have are a blog; yes, but the blog is opperated by the staff of the website. So there is no false info. Ositadinma 01:40, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- Here is a source. It only lists outrights and minor league players declaring free agency, but after the World Series players will be (or already have been) called up because in November the rosters are frozen and no players can be called up because of the Rule 5 draft in mid December. Those transactions are only for one conference, you have to follow the links on that links to get to the others. Ositadinma 01:49, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- Your welcome. Ositadinma 01:55, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
Also it is assumed that at the end of the season players on the 40-man and the active roster combine to make the actual 40-man. They are being called up, but MLB.com or MiLB.ocm may not list those transactions for you. So you have to dig for it like Baseball America which has all of the minor league transactions. One teams start signing NRIs, the teams will only list the 40-man instead of the active and 40-man rosters like they did in previous years. Thought you should know. Ositadinma 02:05, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- Your welcome again. Ositadinma 02:07, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
MLB rosters
Good news. Some teams have listed the 40-man call-ups in the transactions page. Like I said the rosters merge at the end of the season, but I will wait to tranfer the rosters over until the WS is over. The teams still have active and 40-man links, but that will change when the teams start signing NRIs. Thought you should know. Ositadinma 21:27, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Tax revolt in critical care at a hospital near you
Hello fellow WikiProject Oregon member, once again time for the Collaboration of the Week in the land of Oregon. As always, thank you to those who helped out the last few weeks improving List of films shot in Oregon and Jim Paxson. This week we have by request Oregon tax revolt and not by request, the annual Hospital creation drive. For the later, I have laid out some sources here, and the remaining red links are all over the state, so you can find one near you! As always, click here to opt out of these messages, or click here to make a suggestion for a future COTW. May the wind always be beneath your wings. Aboutmovies (talk) 08:32, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Navboxes
What it means is that the roster navboxes are not going to be placed on the NRI players' (players getting invited to camp) article pages, but I still would like to have them in the navbox to see who gets inviteed to camp. Ositadinma 01:40, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
- No, don't add navboxes to NRI's. I put the NRI's on the navbox because they are on the roster so I thought why not just put them on the navboxes as well. Also why I forgot, was that NRI players are players with minor league deals and not part of major league club, but affiliated. Ositadinma 01:57, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

- I am aware of the civility policies and of the policies on good faith; however, "You should try to explain and not discourage editing" may have had a different tone than you intended. To me, it sounds disparaging. KV5 (Talk • Phils) 12:51, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
- "since it wasn't vandalism there was no real harm" - this is untrue. Biographies of living people are subject to much more stringent rules than other articles. As with any BLP that I have on my watchlist, I revert vigorously unless references are provided. When references are provided, I always verify them. That is the reason for the revert. As for the edit summary, the likelihood is low that an IP/anon editor will bother to view the article's history, and many new redlink editors are basically anons because they join, make one or two minor changes, and depart, the same as IPs. If you check my edit history going back to when I joined this site, you will see that I was once that sporadic editor who joined, made a few minor edits, and disappeared as well, and I never took offense when someone changed or deleted my work, because every time we click the "save" button, we release our contributions under CC-BY-SA and GFDL, which I take very seriously. Nevertheless, I will consider your comments when writing future edit summaries. KV5 (Talk • Phils) 16:51, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
- As I said... I will consider your comments when writing future edit summaries. If you want to drop it, that's your prerogative. KV5 (Talk • Phils) 17:36, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Minor leaguers
Why are you making a bunch of articles on non notable minor league players--Yankees10 06:50, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
- Past consensus says that minor leaguers are not notable enough for their own article and should be merged into the respect minor league page. (i.e. New York Yankees minor league players)--Giants27(Contribs|WP:CFL) 14:14, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
- exactly--Yankees10 16:00, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
- Look buddy I'm telling you what the consensus was at WP:Baseball. So dont be a fucking wise ass and tell me not to waste your time when you are the one not doing the right thing.--Yankees10 21:01, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
- It isnt what I think, it was agreed to at WP:Baseball a while ago.--Yankees10 01:08, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
- Who have you asked--Yankees10 01:17, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
- There was a consensus. A while ago the user:Gjr rodriguez created a bunch of minor league players. They were all reviewed and it was agreed to at WP:Baseball that most of them were non notable. Some of those players he created were much more notable than the ones you did and were deleted. Im not going to dig up and find the consensus but am going to start a new discussion at WP:baseball.--Yankees10 01:37, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
- Must you be so rude. "You could have done that without wasting my time!" come on, really.--Yankees10 01:42, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
- The difference is i'm reacting to vandalism and stupidity. You are being like that just for the sake of acting like that.--Yankees10 01:53, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

First-round draft picks
Brian, I just wanted to make you aware that there is a prior consensus to delete first-round draft pick templates and the like if they don't have an appropriate lead article accompanying them (a la List of Philadelphia Phillies first-round draft picks). I did nominate a similar template for players from Toronto for deletion yesterday, but the creator went ahead and made a list as a lead article. Just a note that you may want to consider making such an article or the template may get nominated for deletion. Thanks! KV5 (Talk • Phils) 14:04, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
- Sure, they were discussed here in a tangentially-related discussion. The only templates that have articles at the moment are Toronto, Philly, and New York, and like I said, Toronto is new. KV5 (Talk • Phils) 17:19, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
- That was the general feeling at the TfD discussion, though "it depends on the quality of the list", as Dewelar said. Knowing your work, I'm sure it will be of admirable quality. If you need a hand with anything, let me know. KV5 (Talk • Phils) 17:35, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
- I have to say that you American League guys are really lucky... you have all these Keith Allison pictures to illustrate your articles... As long as there's a list with that header you provided, I wouldn't think of nominating the template, as it obviously serves a purpose. KV5 (Talk • Phils) 17:37, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

It's sunny out, quick take a picture!
Greetings to WikiProject Oregon folks. It is time again for another installment of as the Collaboration Of The Week Turns. A big thank you to last time’s guest stars who worked on Oregon tax revolt and creating hospital articles, we had 3 DYKs off the hospital articles createdd. This week is the star-studded affair of the Semi-annual Great Oregon Picture Drive, starring Halvorsen brian. You can go out and take a picture, browse through Commons for an existing one, or search for a free one on the Internet, and in some cases remove an old request (or even add a request to an article that has no images). See the bottom of this page for some links to a variety of free sources. Again, click here to opt out of these messages, or click here to make a suggestion for a future COTW. Proposed deletion of Eduardo Sánchez (baseball) (Removed as Keep on the talk page)
The article Eduardo Sánchez (baseball) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- This individual has apparently never played in a major league game and thus doesn't meet WP:ATHLETE
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Accounting4Taste:talk 17:38, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
AfD nomination of Stephen Kahn (Closed as Keep)
An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Stephen Kahn. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Stephen Kahn. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:11, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Mariners #'s
It's fairy obivious that Figgins is taking #9, since it lists him that way on the website and Wilson will be taking #2, since Johjima is gone. Ositadinma 18:43, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
- Your right about the speculation, but when you pay someone close to forty million I think that he would have his choice of numbers, in these case he is taking Wilson's #9, even if Wilson doesn't like it. Wilson will almost certainly be taking #2 since that was his number with the Pirates and Johjima had that number before Wilson came. Ositadinma 22:17, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
PayLess at Sprouse-Reitz for your G.I. Joe's, brought to you by Troutman's Emporium and Frederick & Nelson
Hello WikiProject Oregon member, and seasons greetings. Here at Collaboration Of The Week we thank you for your efforts making Oregon better, at least on Wikipedia, and hope you are doing better than Joe's. Or, in the eloquent words of some marketing manager for another now defunct Oregon chain, Merry Christmas from PayLess... Merry Chriiiistmaaaasssss!!!
Now that pleasantries have been exchanged, thank you to those who worked on the last two collaborations, the Semi-annual Great Oregon Picture Drive, and Oregon Country Fair and Geoff Petrie. For this edition of the COTW we have Gambling in Oregon and NRHP in Washington County. The hope for the later is to fill in the last few images (5) and then see if we can make it the first NRHP list in Oregon with an article for every entry (need 27). As always, click here to opt out of these messages, or click here to make a suggestion for a future COTW. Aboutmovies (talk) 09:10, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

It has been done like this for as long as I can remember. Check every single other player that has signed during this offseason they all have these categories.--Yankees10 23:42, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
It doesnt violate crystal ball at all they are a member of the team, and no I dont know if there was a discussion, like I said it is just something that has been done by almost all users that have done updating in the past. Your welcome to start a new discussion at WP:baseball, but until then I am going to continue to add these categories.--Yankees10 01:05, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

One last time for 2009
Happy New Year to you, you WikiProject Oregon member! Tis the season for one last Collaboration Of The Week to get started this year. Thank you to those who worked on Gambling in Oregon and NRHP in Washington County the last few weeks. For the final COTW of 2009, we have Archiving Article Talk Pages and Mr. Standard TV & Appliance, Bill Schonely. For the archiving, we have a lot of old, stale comments on article talk pages from before 2009 that should be archived away, so that new comments are not added to things that either were addressed or not worth addressing. Personally, I archive anything older than a year. Anyway, click here to opt out of these messages, or click here to make a suggestion for a future COTW. Adios.
