March 2022

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Mattythewhite. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Brendan Rodgers, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Mattythewhite (talk) 01:21, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Mattythewhite Hello Matty. Thank you for the message. Yes, I see what you've done, but I won't be re-adding it unless I find a citation. Personally, I don't think it needs one, because if one was to look at the record of FA Cup-winning managers during that period, they would notice that they are all from outside the UK. Nevertheless, I will always try to provide a citation in future if I feel it's relevant. Peace ✌️ Gregwholikestrains (talk) 20:32, 18 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

May 2022

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at 1998–99 Arsenal F.C. season, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Mattythewhite (talk) 23:16, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Mattythewhite There were no sources for that part of the paragraph before I added to it, so how could this be a problem? I am just curious. Gregwholikestrains (talk) 23:24, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

November 2022

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at List of characters in The Railway Series, you may be blocked from editing. 157.131.122.202 (talk) 17:18, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@157.131.122.202 Excuse me?????????? Gregwholikestrains (talk) 17:24, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@157.131.122.202 Excuse me?! I don't see what the problem is here. I've just had a quick look through the page in question and have noticed that there aren't a lot of sources anyone, and a lot of what I added makes more sense than some of the things on there and it fleshes out the characters' profiles. I think that you have got a lot of nerve to call me out like that. Gregwholikestrains (talk) 17:28, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please read Wikipedia's policy on verifiability - this is not optional. Just because other parts of the article aren't sourced, that doesn't give you the right to add unsourced material. Especially as what you wrote is clearly your personal interpretation and is therefore original research. 157.131.122.202 (talk) 17:56, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@157.131.122.202 Oooh look at you getting all high and mighty behind your screen, getting your knickers in a twist over an article about children's stories; it's not as if it's an important historical event! I know that the information I provided is correct and so do you, unless you're not a true fan of The Railway Series. If you want to block me, go ahead - I'll just make another account anyway! Besides, I'm tired of power hungry trolls like you anyway. You're pathetic! Gregwholikestrains (talk) 19:03, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The rules of Wikipedia apply to all articles, regardless of the subject. I'd recommend the Thomas Wikia as a better place for you to edit if you're not comfortable following the rules here. Editing articles to insert your own personal interpretations is not acceptable. Threatening to make a new account so you can evade a block and continue to disrupt Wikipedia is a very bad idea. If an admin saw that it could well lead to you being blocked. Finally, I encourage you to read WP:NPA, Wikipedia's policy forbidding personal attacks. 157.131.122.202 (talk) 20:01, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Timestamps

[edit]

It is not necessary to change timestamps from UTC (effectively the same as GMT - Greenwich Mean Time) as with this edit. The typing of five tildes (~~~~~) effectively generates a correctly formatted timestamp. It avoids the discrepany between the edit time and the timestamp. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 22:38, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Eagleash I don't know what the problem is here. The user updated the page and changed the minute of the timestamp but not the hour. I thought they had forgotten to change it, so I did what I thought was right. Gregwholikestrains (talk) 09:26, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There's no real problem, it's just not necessary. Both the hour and minute were updated in the original edit here by 'the user' by which I assume you mean me(!). As you can see from the link to your edit in the earlier message, after your change the hour was one ahead of UTC. (and the time of the edit) I.e. it was in BST (British Summer Time). Technically it would be incorrect though, as it is not the time (as Wikipedia uses it) of the update. When adding a timestamp please use the five tildes as above to correctly format the date / time. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 09:45, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Eagleash Oh well, no harm was done. I only updated it to the match the time of your update, not the time that I updated. There's so much to learn. Gregwholikestrains (talk) 14:20, 29 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
