The article Yellow Lantern has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- The fictional character does not meet the general notability guideline and, without reception and significance in reliable secondary sources independent of the subject, the topic of the article is not suitable for Wikipedia as a stand-alone article since it falls into WP:IINFO.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Jfgslo (talk) 02:07, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

Please review these blocks
[edit]There was a bug in MediaWiki 1.18 that caused blocks made via the API to have talk page access disabled when it should have been enabled. This also affected scripts such as User:Animum/easyblock.js. Please review the following blocks to make sure that you really intended talk page access to be disabled, and reblock if necessary.

Help needed for a student class project
[edit]Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Classroom coordination/SFSU Class Project and consider adding your name.
The scope of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Classroom coordination/SFSU Class Project is mainly concerned with new articles.
According to the teacher's instructions, this group of students may not create a lot of new articles, but may instead focus more on improving existing articles.
So, there may be little for us to do in the way the Wikipedia:WikiProject China/NNU Class Project required. The students may, however, still call on us for guidance in other areas. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:15, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Wish to thank you for assisting in making Robert Breedlove a part of wiki for starting Alaska's 1st internet cafe. However, it seems some still feel it is not notable. Re. Ghacks (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) - I tagged for CSD A7, you declined;
I wanted to let you know that I agree with your decline.
I hope you can understand why I tagged it for A7, because at the time it was [1] - with only refs to its own website; I did look for refs, but admittedly quite briefly, and didn't see any substantial RS coverage.
I totally agree that, now, it's not CSD. Just thought I'd say that. Cheers, Chzz ► 14:19, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
- Well thanks, I was not even considering refs! The CSD queue was very short so I hardly did anything then. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:09, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
- Mhm; I just 'worry' when I CSD something and it's declined. I know I shouldn't, but, people are silly about that stuff. Meh. Illegitimi non carborundum. Chzz ► 04:19, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

Tiny Rascal Gangsters
[edit]Hey there Graeme, you may remember me as Steve Crossin. Anyways, I made the same mistake that you did before here but then was told that the article has been deleted repeatedly, under the title of Tiny Rascal Gang. The AFD was quite a few years ago, and I still lack a mop so can't determine if the content is the same as the AFD version, but thought I'd let you know. Steven Zhang The clock is ticking.... 08:33, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- I remember you Mr Zhang, although I think the Crossin name was very famous in the past. Looks to be the same gang, but text is different and now has a reliable reference not there before. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:09, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- Heh, I'm still famous but not as famous as before. Maybe that's a good thing. You think it would be worth PRODding? That's what I did in the first place because it didn't look like an A7 and was tagged as such. Steven Zhang The clock is ticking.... 09:11, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- I think a new AFD would be in order to test for sure if it is not not notable. The old afd was pretty light on. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:18, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, I thought so too, the AFD was around five years ago. I'll take a look to see if I can dig up anything decent on it and if not will send it to AFD tomorrow. Nice to speak to you again :) Steven Zhang The clock is ticking.... 09:20, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Myoma Myint Kywe
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Myoma Myint Kywe requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit]I was working on improving the new Friends of the Everglades page and had two questions, please. The title of the article should be Friends of the Everglades, with a capital E, because it is an organization. Thanks for your advice on how to improve my paper Perjury in Nigeria. I am equally surprised that the footnotes disappeared from the copy of the paper in my laptop. I will endeavour to retrieve the footnotes to march the copy you edited. I will also find an authority to improve the quality of the paper. Please try and intervene so that the paper is not deleted while I try to improve the paper and discovering the missing footnotes.

Georgia Gwinnett College student project
[edit]Hi. I see you are an ambassador for this lot. Two of the students have today created blank (title only) articles, which (after nearly an hour and three hours respectively) I have deleted per A3. I have explained to them that there is no need to put in a "placeholder" and told them how to make a userspace draft. I have also left a note for their instructor at User talk:Lkurtz116#Userspace draft and, in view of the horrors of the WP:IEP, pointed him to Wikipedia:Copy-paste as well.
It gives me a sinking feeling that the Foundation have let loose another lot of students under the supervision of an instructor who is evidently himself new to WP. I think something needs to be done to establish minimum standards for instructor experience and student briefing: Get in more editors is all very well as an objective, but not in such a way that it interferes with the top-level objective Build an encyclopedia. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 21:07, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
- The problem with this class is there is no campus ambassador, so I don't know where the training is coming from. It would be like the average new user here. Thanks for pointing out the problem articles and informing the students, I would find them in a few days eventually, but it could have taken a week before content appeared. If we trust Wikipedia:United States Education Program/Courses/Mycology (Lee Kurtz) there should have been a sandbox tutorial. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:19, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
- I see it says "October 31... Instructor and/or Campus Ambassadors talk about Wikipedia culture & etiquette, and [optionally] introduce the concept of sandboxes and how to use them." That shouldn't have been an option; and if there is no campus ambassador and the instructor is new to WP, that session will not have achieved much. Ah well... JohnCD (talk) 21:48, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
- Another one (Kfroehbr (talk). It almost seems as though they have been told to put in blank articles as a first step. JohnCD (talk) 23:21, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the help. I was able to get that to work for 2 of the 3 references that I was having trouble with. Is this really in the style of science fiction or is it fantasy? If the character just jumps backwards and forwards in time, this may be just a plot device and neither of these genres. Another area to cover is the the response by critics or sales figures. It is interesting that it is published by so many publishers. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:28, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
It could be both science fiction and fantasy. Look for another time travel TV series, Tru Calling, an American TV show about another girl who also time travels, after the deceased has ask of for help, ended up rewind a day backward to stop that person from dying. Fans of that show labeled as both science fiction, fantasy, or even supernatual drama.--NeoBatfreak (talk) 21:44, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Dear Bartlett,
Please kindly take a look at the revised version of my paper 'Perjury in Nigeria.' I think in its current form the paper may meet your standard. Please I implore you to do your best to prevent the paper from speedy deletion as the latest editor has put such tag on the paper. Someone has started working on the footnotes but it seems that he got confused when he reached to footnote 25. I have kindly requested an editor to complete the footnotes with footnote 25 becoming footnote 24 and subsequent footnotes will follow serially in that order. I appreciate how busy you are and, the goal for quality paper in the widipedia. Having tinkered with this paper on several occasion I hope you will find that its present form meets the notability requirement. Thanks immensely.
Yours Sincerely 41.206.12.74 (talk) 17:22, 11 November 2011 (UTC) Dr S Oji

- Hello Alice, there was an article written by User:Citation stating this: Alice Despard is an American singer-songwriter. Her songs are often compared to those of Patti Smith and Neil Young. Her influences include Van Morrison, the Beatles, Mission of Burma, East River Pipe, Vic Chesnutt, and the Sea and Cake.
- Her most recent album is Vessel, released by Wampus Multimedia in 2005.
- There is a guideline here WP:Music that tells whether an article on a music topic should be here. The reason it was deleted was not about you, but that the article made no claim of importance. There is a mention of your name on Mark Doyon. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:02, 11 November 2011 (UTC)

Undeletion of page "Rajeev Kumar Varshney"
[edit]Dear Wiki Administrator,
This is regarding the deletion of page of International Scientist on Wikipedia named “Rajeev Kumar Varshney” from International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics. The page was created by me in May 2010 (from ID Rachitks) and went through a lot of edits and was in quite a good shape. The page is suddenly deleted from Wikipedia without any warnings of deletions. I want to know the reasons of deletion and if it was mistakenly deleted I would highly appreciate if you recover the page (with latest edition) for us, as many people in science community are following the page for his profile and info.
We have already written to Wikipedia information team [info-en@wikimedia.org] and they suggested to write to you for the undeletion/userfied of page. We are ready to modify the page to a certain format to continue on Wikipedia we are ready to do it.

block of 71.206.18.99
[edit]Heya - thanks for blocking 71.206.18.99. I'd like to request reconsideration on the length however. Take a look at both recent and long-term edit patterns plus previous block. Account is only being used to make deliberate, incorrect biographical changes - to the effect of several dozen different people. There does not seem to be any geniune interest in contribution here - only disruption by changing date of birth and date of death. Thanks for your time and consideration. Srobak (talk) 22:52, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
- It is the first block for this IP, so see if the person behind this realizes this is serious and stops vandalizing. If not the a subsequent block will be longer. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:17, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

- Longer and longer then. Because IPs can hop around we don't usually block them too long. But if vandalism is persistent it may end up being a 1 year block. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 03:17, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

- A person's interests - even if geographical - do not need to be justified in order to contribute to an article. Where a person is "from" not only has no bearing - but is also inconsequential to the referencable, encyclopedic contributions they can make to an article. Please see WP:OWN. Also understand you will not get any points living up to your namesake on WP. Srobak (talk) 04:44, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Political party funding
[edit]Hi, Graeme Bartlett, I agree that the term "party" in English (with the possible exception of Tea Party) has dominant connotations that are non-political, Unfortunately this is quite different in my mother tongue (German). Obviously that is why I was not aware of the problem which you (or someone else) solved by going from "party funding" to "political party funding". I appreciate this improvement and have fully accepted it in my further efforts. However, from that point on we start running into new problems: The heading which you have chosen for this note contains an extra-step (from "funding" to "fundraising") which I feel is no improvement. The same is true for the shortcut that takes you to "campaign finance". Probably we have hit upon another cultural difference there. I am fully aware of the page on "campaign finance". Actually my personal wiki history starts exactly from there. I saw the article, started to read it and felt urged to do something by the banner "give it a more worldwide view". I tried to do exactly that and the consequences of my travails are still in the "intro". Running into the typical U.S. term "the campaign" (for a unit that raises and spends political money) I finally quit this effort because I felt unable to alter a piece so strictly written from a U.S. viewpoint to a more globally comprehendable text. Now that we are three weeks later, the "global" piece on the subject matter (money raised and spent to influence politics) is there. Its title is "Political finance" and I have tried to crossreference my piece in all directions (following wiki's "no orphans" policy). My suggestion is that you have a brief look at my new text before we continue to argue about further procedure. Best, Khnassmacher (talk) 06:23, 8 October 2011 (UTC) I had hoped for your response when I put the above on my talk page. Now I'll try the same on yours. Speedy deletion nomination of English College, Johor
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on English College, Johor requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.
Request to update page "Kamran Jawaid"

I would like to ask your help in streamlining the page "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Hamzarauf/Kamran_Jawaid_2".
I am Kamran Jawaid, and it has come to my attention, time and again in the past couple of years, that the page wikipedia has on me has been in a constant state of turmoil. I am the Senior Film Critic for Images on Sunday, the Sunday Magazine for the Dawn (newspaper), and now Dawn.com. I have written 300+ movie reviews in the past 8 years. My column "Animadversion" is perhaps one of the most respected film criticism columns in Pakistan. And I had hosted a popular segment called "Khabar Bakhabar" (roughly translated "News, Informed") of the morning show "Bakhabar Savera" (trans: Informed Mornings) for 70+ episodes.
It seems that the editor: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Hamzarauf has not updated the page in quite sometime. I would appreciate if you could help me out in this matter.
This is my Official Website and my Official Blog. This is my official Youtube Page, featuring my a few of my segments.

- the user has not edited for a year. There is a project for abandoned drafts that may be interested. What could be useful is independent references. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:00, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
- Is there any link to approach abandoned drafts? There used to be a few websites that quoted my pieces and had a brief bio on me. Is it possible that I am able to edit this page? The User-slash-page is really hurting my image, because its not a valid entry. Maybe it can be made into a stub that people can contribute to over time? MKJCritic (talk) 22:29, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
- You are permitted to modify the page. But since it is about you the WP:COI guideline applies. You must be careful not to add promotion, or facts that you know that have not been published elsewhere. That is why sources are important. The user subpage was created in order to avoid deletion as the topic seemed to be worthwhile. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:16, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
- Would it help if I add a biography at my official site? It would authenticate things. I am not out for publicity (heaven knows I have enough as it is). I just want to help correct the info.MKJCritic (talk) 11:08, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

WikiProject Netherlands
[edit]You removed the inactive tag I placed on WikiProject Netherlands. But this project is really inactive, there is no community there working on improving Netherlands related articles, article assessment requests remain unanswered (even when I asked to assess my article about the most authoritative dictionary of the Netherlands, Van Dale, which every Dutch person has heard about) and Portal:Netherlands wasn't updated for nearly a year when I blanked out the news section as it was hopelessly outdated. No-one challenged me on that BTW. The only thing which still happens is that the talk page is sometimes used to ask or comment about Dutch related topics yet most of the questions remain unanswered. Articles do get added to the WikiProject (I have added quite a few Dutch related articles to it myself in the hope that the project will become active one day again) but articles which get promoted to GA or FA class generally are only partially related to the Netherlands. SpeakFree (talk)(contribs) 21:19, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
- I've replaced the tag, if you think that my observations are incorrect please discuss them on the project's talk page or my user talk page or here. SpeakFree (talk)(contribs) 00:44, 11 January 2012 (UTC)
Heads Up
[edit]Graeme, you were involved in closing this RFC. I was involved in a discussion on implementation. Please see the proposal. The discussion died out, so I am thinking on going ahead and implementing the proposal in following days. Please chime in if you think the proposal is out of consensus. AgadaUrbanit (talk) 00:11, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
- Graeme, I'm not sure what is the procedure in the case where multiple RfC and numerous discussions were held. Would simple consensus be enough? Although Wikipedia's purpose is to prevent POV pushing, a large number of editors have that purpose. Hopefully there is sufficient variety to even out and get a NPOV. I've added a link to the article discussion on collaboration noticeboard. In the past you have said here: I could close such a discussion. I hope this heads up is appropriate. AgadaUrbanit (talk) 22:55, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
- I have been cautious about closing a further discussion as it may look like I have developed a point of view. Almost certainly some will have a differing opinion from the potential closing statement. A solution may be to topic ban those that go to far, but these same people would be the most enthusiastic contributors, so this is not a good idea. For multiple RFCs I guess the way forward would be to consider it as one big RFC.
Geology of Dorset
[edit]Hello Graeme Bartlett. There's a bit of a discussion going on at Talk:Geology of Dorset, similar in content to a brief exchange you had there a while back (though the discussion this time around might produce substantive changes). Any thoughts or contributions you may have (should you wish), would be welcome. Thanks. PaleCloudedWhite (talk) 18:56, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Crimecraft front cover.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Crimecraft front cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 05:17, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
File:Mickey Mouse.svg
[edit]Can you restore File:Mickey Mouse.svg? It was removed becuase there was a "free alterantive" (that was deleted from Commons). The current Mickey Mouse is the same image as far as I can remember. Tbhotch.™ Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 07:28, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
- Which article do you want to use it on and what is the rationale? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:50, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
- At Mickey Mouse (replace the current PNG version). Within the same rationale it had. Tbhotch.™ Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 21:09, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
- OK I have swapped image. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 00:45, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification
[edit]Hi. When you recently edited Digital sensors, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Conductivity (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Mickey Mouse picture
[edit]The new image you substituted is going to get deleted if it doesn't have a fair-use rationale for being on the Mickey Mouse article. Right now it has a rationale for "Cultural icon" where the image is not used. Either switch back with the old image which already has a rationale or put one in the new image. Thanks. Pigby (talk) 12:59, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
And incidentally, the images are exactly identical. I uploaded the .png file from a saved version of the .svg; at the time I didn't know you could call up old images back from the dead like that. Pigby (talk) 13:06, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
- That is the Wikimedia software converting the .svg to .png for those browsers that do not fully suppor it. I still have one issue that I was trying to correct and that is the left ear is sliced off at the top in the png render, In svg mode it is fully round though. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:21, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
- I don't know if something went funky on your browser, but I promise you they are the same image. I did a right-click save on the .svg file and uploaded it a few months later as a .png. The computer changed the extension not me.
- And about the fair-use rationale, you can't just change the title of the section. You have to say within the actual rationale box why the image constitutes fair use for that specific article. Unrelated to this though, the .svg image is scalable, which means it can't be used as fair use. It has to be a lower resolution than the original. Refer here. Pigby (talk) 02:51, 18 January 2012 (UTC)
- The svg is lower resolution in that it has less content, it is about half the size. There is no more resolution achievable by zooming. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 04:49, 18 January 2012 (UTC)

How come a category gets deleted without discussion?
[edit]http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category:Peninsulas_of_Hainan_Island&action=edit&redlink=1 Huayu-Huayu (talk) 18:11, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
You deleted with false claims, e.g.:
- 10:22, 24 January 2012 Graeme Bartlett (talk | contribs) deleted "Category:Peninsulas of Hainan Island" (empty category - items now at original cat Category:Peninsulas of Hainan)
So, where are the peninsulas that I spend time on, grouping them??? Huayu-Huayu (talk) 04:05, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
Maybe in future you have a better look into what this Anna is asking. She emptied the categories. Huayu-Huayu (talk) 04:10, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
- I put the same edit summary on all of the speedy categories because I didn't want to spend more than an hour on the whole cleanup project. There is no "Peninsulas of Hainan" category. If you wish to make it so that it can appear at Category:Peninsulas of China, fine. There's only one Hainan peninsula at the moment, but that's okay with me.
- Also, because you are concerned with Hainan geography categories, I made or added child categories at Category:Geography of Hainan. It's pretty tidy now, and the children link to the right parents, I think.
- The issue I'm concerned with is the Island/Province matter. That's why I speedied Category:Peninsulas of Hainan Island.
- Anyway, please, let's keep this discussion at Hainan talk as much as possible. Graeme was acting in good faith, and just performing a task requested by me. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:18, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
I didn't mean for you to become embroiled in this. I speedied the cats on the following grounds:
- The editor who created them, being new, seemed not to understand that these were major changes requiring consensus.
- He made a number of controversial edits related to Taiwan as well.
- The matter ended up at AN, where he was almost unanimously opposed.
- Other edits related to this were reverted by others.
- He made a large number of article edits and cat changes related to this, which took me ages to clean up.
- I did not want to do further clean up. However, it continues.
- He did all of this in a flurry, then left.
I waited a few days, with no reply at Hainan talk, then acted, to avoid further cleanup. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:01, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation, I must have seen this at AN. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 03:05, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
Anna, it took you ages??? Haha. AND BECAUSE I AM NEW, you can treat my contributions regarding categorization like shit? You should stop this! Where are the peninsulas that I grouped? The deletion summary by Graeme Bartlett is false. Why did they need to be deleted if one can have redirects. I think you only deleted them because you don't like me. Huayu-Huayu (talk) 04:09, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
- Huayu-Huayu, please don't be upset. Because you are new, you deserve the greatest respect. I did not mean to offend you. Please understand that splitting Hainan categories into Island and Province is a major change, and deserved consensus.
- Now, about those peninsulas you grouped together. I only see Yangpu Peninsula in Hainan. What were the others? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:22, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
- Again, can we please hold this discussion over at Hainan talk? Many thanks. And by the way, I don't dislike you. This is nothing personal. It is entirely about a large amount of major and controversial edits make without discussion. Let's all slow down and discuss things. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:25, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
