Noticeboard comment, with side of beansGreetings -- Yes, it is possible. I didn't want to comment in too obvious a place for the usual reasons. I do it with a non-editing secondary account which maintains a focused watchlist, for example. E-mail me if it's not obvious how and you'd like to know. Cheers! Antandrus (talk) 15:36, 9 January 2009 (UTC) Thanks regarding redirectsThanks, I didn't know about the page to discuss redirects. My issue with a couple were they are a sort of redirect-spam as they handle obvious mispellings of words. Mohummy (talk) 01:43, 10 January 2009 (UTC) DNFTTMy comment to the IP was a statement of fact. I WOULD have blocked him indefinitely. If we indef-blocked IP's, I would have blocked him indefinitely. Not sure where you see "temper" in there--maybe a wee bit terse, but this clearly wasn't "misguided newbie who'll stop when we say 'please don't do that anymore'--this is someone out to cause trouble. I suppose I could have used a template, but honestly, if that's the worst thing I do on Wikipedia, I'm sure Jimbo will double my pay. People are different, you know? If I'd called him thirteen kinds of f-bomb, THAT would be a problem. But making a clear statement that his actions had been noticed, that they were not approved of, and that if I had the chance to prevent him from repeating those actions for a longer period of time, I would gladly do so--I'm sorry, but I don't see a problem. Thanks for the input, though.... GJC 03:15, 10 January 2009 (UTC) Why are you again helping the user TennisExpert? Are you corrupt or something? If you check his edit, he only wants to spam the Key Biscayne thing and change all the links of the Master Series to SPONSORED NAMES, when those pages are all REDIRECTS, so it has no sense at all. 62.57.197.93 (talk) 17:53, 10 January 2009 (UTC) COMPLAINTI'd like to make a complaint against the user GJC. Doesn't appear that they have a contactable email address, and they weren't interested in listening to me when I tried to make the complaint to them personally, so perhaps as I noticed you made a comment you can tell me how to complain to a higher authority of admin, or direct me to where I need to go? Thanks - using a THIRD address as both IP of my address and friends' has now been blocked because of this 90.220.37.95 (talk) 19:28, 10 January 2009 (UTC) Unblock review for User talk:SigvoiceHi GlassCobra Actually IPs can reject block reviews if they are accidentally logged out admins. I published, had my tea, came back and found the message it was recommended for speedy deleted and found it had already been deleted. If it was still in the queue, I would have submitted a hangon request. I believe Radar is notable as it is the first network of its kind on the internet, as quoted (and referenced) in the highly respected music industry blog 'New Music Strategies. Music video is a significant form of contemporary culture and creative expression. Radar really is unique and groundbreaking by providing an online network for directors to access record labels and vice versa. There is no-one else doing what we do, we have 1700 members worldwide who can all testify to the unique and groundbreaking nature of what we do. Am I able to submit this as request for a return of the page on the grounds that Radar is notable please? In the afternoon, we will hold a session dedicated to meta:Wikimedia New York City activities, look at our approval by the Chapters Committee, develop ideas for chapter projects at museums and libraries throughout our region, and hold salon-style group discussions on Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects (see the November meeting's minutes and the December mini-meetup's minutes). We'll make preparations for our exciting museum photography Wikipedia Loves Art! February bonanza (on Flickr, on Facebook) with Shelley from the Brooklyn Museum and Alex from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We'll also be collecting folks to join our little Wikipedia Takes the Subway adventure which will be held the day after the meeting. In the evening, we'll share dinner and chat at a local restaurant, and generally enjoy ourselves and kick back. You can add or remove your name from the New York City Meetups invite list at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Invite list. To keep up-to-date on local events, you can also join our mailing list.

I am not sure how to proceed, and whether publicity is appropriate. Will you be at the NYC meetup,; I plan to talk about it there. I just want to say again, sorry, allergies were killing me last week, and I was too hasty in pointing a finger at your questions; I really don't know which questions are good and which questions are bad, that's for the community to decide. The only point I want to make is that I would like for the community to decide that certain opposition arguments should carry less weight, along the lines that I suggested at the link. Disputed fair use rationale for File:MTV Adria Screenshot.jpg}Thank you for uploading File:MTV Adria Screenshot.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:
Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale. If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Ecoleetage has contacted the principal of my school, warning him that I am not a fit teacher, and that I've been "playing computer games" on school computers. Eco also claimed that I was stalking him. My principal was very confused, but also very supportive and said he was worried about me. As I make no secret of my identity, it concerns me that Eco is not very stable it seems, and is attempting to hurt me in real life. I am a big boy, and can take care of myself, but I teach many minor children, and their safety is uppermost in my mind. I will no longer be editing the project regularly at all, and I need to request assistance in seeing that some kind of restraining order is placed on Felipe (Eco's real name, from what I gather) in real life. He needs to be nowhere near myself, my family, or my students. This is a very disconcerting situation, and something needs done straightaway. I think a permaban on Ecoleetage and any account shown to be a sockpuppet of such is a good first step from the project's perspective. This is an absolute first for me. You came off really strong (I recall words to the effect of "never showing his face again" and "anybody who accepts him as a nominator should automatically get opposed." The comments kind of caught me off guard. I remember the incident, because I linked to one of Giggy's comments to me afterwards wherein he basically forgave me publically. You then gave me a heartfelt apology indicating that you were out of line with your comments. I remember it because I really appreciated the apology. (Of course, it could be somebody else and my memory might be failing me, but I am 95% sure it was you.) The point is, that I remembered it because I saw it ultimately as a positive encounter with you rather than a negative one, which is how it started.---Balloonman PoppaBalloonCSD Survey Results 00:05, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
advice on reviving a dead article and/or requesting copies of said articleGC, I was going to start a new article "List of songs in South Park" but lo and behold it used to exist but was deleted in July 2007. So I found the list of admins willing to provide copies of deleted articles and noticed your name, since you kindly put a welcome message on my talk page when I first registered last summer. So I'm wondering if you had any advice on reviving dead articles, and also if you'd be willing to provide me with copies of said article. Obviously I'm really biased but music is such a big part of South Park, with so many original songs, covers, and parodies. A song from their musical film was even nominated for an Oscar. But I don't want to ramble on too much here. Just so you know, I did start a new topic on the South Park talk page. And here's the link to the debate and decision to delete the article in question. Any help and advice you have is very much welcome. Thanks for being an accessible admin! --Armchair info guy (talk) 01:40, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
Removal vs. strikeI saw on another editor's page you wanted him to correct the record by removing text. Retracting comments made in error is honorable and assuming he agrees with your assessment, he will probably do so. If it were me though, I probably would strike and clarify my comments rather than removing them. Striking, with a following saying something like "comment made in error," "comment made based on information later found not to be true," "comment made before I got a clue," etc. clarifies things without making it unintentionally look like a cover-up. It's up to that editor of course to decide what he will do. He could do nothing, he could simply strike, he could strike and clarify, or he could remove the text. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 03:05, 20 January 2009 (UTC) commentI edited your heading before replying, as I thought it better not to call attention to the particular page. I, naively, felt that it might be useful to add "Matador of Manacor", the moniker attributed to him by Martin Samuel, then Chief sports writer for the Times, the day after he won his first Wimbledon title, considering it was both a personal favourite of mine and one that is still used in Britain. But theres a reason wikipedia needs administrators, and if it isn't to stop people adding what they feel is useful, informative, accurate information onto wikipedia then I don't know what it is. I am certainly not going to jump in anywhere I don't feel capable! I'll probably be as slow and cautious about using admin tools as I was initially about editing, because although I know the policies, I'm a little worried about stuffing things up technically. Since I'm pretty computer-savvy, my level of worry is probably unnecessary, but "better safe than sorry" and "slow and steady wins the race" are philosophies I believe in. :) Somno (talk) 05:34, 15 February 2009 (UTC) Wikipedia Signpost — February 16, 2009From the editor — A new leaf
