New page reviewer granted

[edit]

Hi EytanMelech. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at the permissions page in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page, including checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline.
  • Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any steps.
  • Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. Ways to improve Rocco Reed

[edit]

Hello, EytanMelech,

Thank you for creating Rocco Reed.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Looking at the references on the page and a quick search online, I do not believe this is going to be notable. While references exist, they are mainly him talking about his life.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|CNMall41}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

CNMall41 (talk) 05:44, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I do understand that most of my sources are his talking about his life. I haven't been comfortable going through pornographic sources because I don't want that in my search history. Today I might try to go through his pages on the Italian, Turkish, Russian, and Spanish wiki pages and look for already used sources that I can use regarding his field of work. I don't think he has an article in 7 other languages for no reason. EytanMelech (talk) 10:14, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello EytanMelech,

There are currently motions at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Motions § Motions: PIA Canvassing regarding an ongoing effort by one or more banned editors to canvass discussions within the Israel-Palestine topic area and asking for proxy edits to promote a pro-Israel point of view.

One of the motions proposes indefinitely banning you from the English Wikipedia for participation in the effort. Statements and evidence submissions are welcome at the above link, or by email to arbcom-en@wikimedia.org if information cannot be posted publicly.

For the Arbitration Committee,
~ ToBeFree (talk) 22:12, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @User:EytanMelech, I'll message you here since it is really inconvenient to message you on the arbitration page due to the restrictions there. I want to help you, as I feel bad about what seems to be a very annoying situation. I think it's really unfortunate and unfair that, for an unclear reason, ARBCOM refusing to provide information on which specific edits they consider problematic. For the life of me, I cannot understand how this could be considered a fair procedure. However, I think you can narrow down the list of candidates to the articles mentioned in the 'General facts' section and cross-reference those with the messages you received from Fagerbakke, if you kept all of them. Marokwitz (talk) 22:37, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know how many I kept, but I have a ready list of 13 different email chains that I have where I didn't make any edits by either making excuses or not replying to the email. I offered to send them to ToBeFree, but he has already made up his mind and has declined to see my evidence. This is devestating to me. I have nearly 6k edits and Wikipedia has been one of my happy places since my Mom's death in October (brain cancer). I am hoping so much that when the other ArbCom members vote, they may see reason, but in the case that they do not, I am going to make rounds with other Wikipedians I am friendly with and say goodbye on their talk pages in case I am permanently banned for stuff that I haven't been shown evidence for. EytanMelech (talk) 22:45, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry to hear that. I believe you. It's possible that someone might be trying to frame you with fake emails, but I guess we'll never be able to prove it due to the so-called "privacy issues." Since ArbCom's task is not to punish but to prevent, perhaps you could negotiate a plea bargain with them in return for a reduced sentence, as humiliating as it may be to plead guilty. Marokwitz (talk) 05:28, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have a feeling since I have already denied allegations and, as Wikipediocracy put it, kept my stance when tobefree played "Good Cop", there's no plea bargain. There isn't even a place for negotiation, it's support, oppose, and abstain. EytanMelech (talk) 12:47, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Sugar Zaza

[edit]

Hello EytanMelech, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Sugar Zaza, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sugar Zaza.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Chris troutman}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Arbitration motion regarding PIA Canvassing

[edit]

The Arbitration Committee has resolved by motion that:

Since at least October 2023, there has been an ongoing effort by one or more banned editors to canvass discussions within the Israel-Palestine topic area and asking for proxy edits to promote a pro-Israel point of view. Based on the evidence received by the Committee, the following discussions have been targeted:

The Arbitration Committee would like to thank the editors who reported canvassing. If editors have any additional canvassing evidence, please bring it to the Committee's attention. The Arbitration Committee asks the Wikimedia Foundation for assistance creating technical measures to prevent the ongoing abuse.

Based on information from the checkuser tool and on information received, the Committee determines that Dovidroth (talk · contribs) most likely participated in discussions due to canvassing and made proxy edits for a banned editor. As a result, they are indefinitely banned from Wikipedia. This ban may be appealed immediately after the enactment of this remedy, and every twelve months thereafter.

Based on information from the checkuser tool and on information received, the Committee determines that Dovidroth (talk · contribs) most likely made proxy edits for a banned editor. As a result, they are indefinitely topic banned from making edits related to the Arab-Israeli conflict, broadly construed. This ban may be appealed immediately after the enactment of this remedy, and every twelve months thereafter.

Lämel School moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Lämel School. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources, it needs more sources to establish notability and Ref 1, 6, 8 are the only valid references. The rest are non-rs. Needs updated to rereference the article.. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. scope_creepTalk 13:33, 28 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As I said in my edit summary I am all for more articles for supercentenarians, but in her case information is sparse. You may want to userfy the page to work on it some more? Hi, I noticed you recently created the page Yitzhak Shamir Road by translating the Hebrew Wikipedia's version of the article. A tag has been placed on Category:1808 establishments in Poland indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
