Your draft article, Draft:Imperial Holdings

Hello, Dodger67. It has been over six months since you last edited your Articles for Creation draft article submission, "Imperial Holdings".

In accordance with our policy that Articles for Creation is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. CatcherStorm talk 16:41, 3 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi CatcherStorm, I have moved the draft back to my sandbox. Someone else placed an AFC template on it, in their only edit to the page, but even so it was never actually submitted so G13 doesn't apply anyway. I have no need to submit my drafts to AFC at all. Bo's Place article

Hello Dodger67. I can certainly remove the inline links. I thought they would be convenient to the reader, but what I now understand is that the only inline links should be Wikipedia articles, and the rest should be references, right? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LufferTracker (talkcontribs) 23:12, 4 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi LufferTracker, yes please remove external links that do not directly support the subject of the draft, those that do support it should be cired as sources. It seems to me that the draft currently lacks sources that are directly about the subject itself. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 08:22, 5 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi Dodger67. I've cleaned up the links, moved them to references. Not sure I understand your comment about 'sources that are directly about the subject itself' (?). A number of the references are links to the subject. Is this what you mean? Thanks.

Hello Dodger67. How does it look now? Thanks, LufferTracker, Feb 16, 2017

Hi Dodger 67 - Does the new revision look ok? LufferTracker (talk) 19:57, 3 March 2017 (UTC)

Need help

Hi Dodger67. Thanks for your comments. I am a new comer so do not really know how to submit article for review and approal. Can you please help to make this article to be reviewed. Thank you very much. Thapene — Preceding unsigned comment added by Banthapenlaos (talkcontribs) 01:54, 13 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi Banthapenlaos, if you are referring to Ban Thapene, I must congratulate you on a very nice article. We still need many articles about places in Laos, so please do more of these if you can.
I do however spot one concern - your username is in conflict with Wikipedia's policy on usernames. A username may not imply an official connection to any subject or representation of any person, place or organization. I will post guidance about the problem and how to solve it, to your talk page. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 06:30, 13 March 2017 (UTC)

Dear Dodger. Thank you very much for your comment and encouragement. In fact, my given name is the same with the name of the village. So, i will change my account name for editing. Best. Thapene — Preceding unsigned comment added by Banthapenlaos (talkcontribs) 09:01, 13 March 2017 (UTC)

16:43:18, 11 March 2017 review of submission by Jonathan A. Coles

I was diverted to other things, but have now carefully gone through Wiki entries with some relation to 'animal reflectors'. I conclude that 'animal reflectors' is definitely a field apart, and have written an entry that cites existing entries but does not overlap with them: 'animal coloration'. We are concerned with minimising color, rather than producing it. 'tapetum'. The entry gives mainly natural history, and does not discuss the mechanisms of reflection. It makes sense to put the mechanisms of reflection in an entry dealing with all kinds of animal reflectors. 'photonic crystal'. Does not mention animal reflecftors, only animal coloration (not reflection), and only in insects. 'dielectric mirror'. This entry gives some theory of multilayer reflectors, so I have not duplicated it. The first three need some editing: this will be easier to do if there is an 'animal reflectors' entry to reference. Jonathan Coles. PS. I have forgotten how to upload figures.

Hi Jonathan A. Coles, I've done a few edits, mainly to get the layout and headings up to standard. The draft looks like a quite decent start. See the guide on uploading images here. Sorry I took so long to reply Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 10:41, 13 March 2017 (UTC)

Declined and delete draft of Shirin Gerami

Dear Dodger67, Thanks for your comments. Its Ok to delete the declined article on Shirin Gerami what is is my Sandbox. It was declined because it has aleady existed. I had submitted the first one that was accepted. I am fairly new and accidentally submitted another draft in the Sandbox. Thanks Khintye (talk) 17:29, 13 March 2017 (UTC)

Khintye, I've deleted the page. Primefac (talk) 17:45, 13 March 2017 (UTC) (talk page stalker)

Help please!

Hi Dodger. I saw my article namely Ban Thapene is reviewed by you. I also changed my username to not be similar to the name of the populate village which the article mentions about. But, when I search this article in google, it is still not having any result. Can you please make it happened? Thank you very much. Best. Phonthip — Preceding unsigned comment added by Phonthip74 (talkcontribs) 05:31, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi Phonthip74 We have no way to influence Google, it usually picks up new articles quite quickly, but it can take a few days before the article appears in a Google search. All we can do is wait. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:20, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

Thank you very much. I will contribute more article regarding pupulated places in Laos for wikipedia. Best regards. Phonthip. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Phonthip74 (talkcontribs) 09:49, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

Checking on my revision from 19 Feb

Dodger67. Sorry to bother you again. I replied with what I think is the final revision needed on 19 Feb to cumulative posts from 15Feb to 19Feb. I am wondering if you are reviewing the changes or the last post just got lost? Please let me know the status. Thanks.Rgschroeder12 (talk) 16:51, 13 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi Rgschroeder12, the draft is not currently submitted for review. Simply click the blue "Resubmit" button in the previous review box near the top of the page, then a reviewer (not likely to be me) will re-evaluate it. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:26, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

Dodger67. Sorry for the confusion. I wanted you to review the latest revision, since you have reviewed two past revisions and I have made the changes you suggested. I think the article is in good shape and ready to go. When I clicked the blue "Resubmit" button before, I got a review with new requirements, as I have explained before. Is it possible for you to review my submission? If so, how can I get it to you. Thanks.Rgschroeder12 (talk) 23:39, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi Rgschroeder12, it's done. I have tidied up the referencing and a few other minor improvements. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 12:35, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
Hi Dodger67 (talk · contribs), Since this is my first article, you were very helpful in getting my article on Operations Management for Services into shape. I didn't know about the tone being neutral, the need for extensive references, the format for references including isbn, the lead section having a specific format, etc. Thanks so much for being a great reviewer. Your help is greatly appreciated.Rgschroeder12 (talk) 14:27, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

Help with Maritz, LLC draft

Greetings! On behalf of Maritz, LLC, I am trying to update the company's Wikipedia article. I have submitted an edit request here and posted requests for help at WikiProject Companies, the Articles for Creation help desk, WikiProject United States, and the talk pages of a couple individual Wikipedia editors, but so far no one has responded to the edit request to add a corporate overview section and information about the company's current and former subsidiaries.

I've proposed text for the article here. I realize this is a proposed article expansion, and not an Articles for Creation submission, but this major addition to the article is similar to an Articles for Creation review, so I am reaching out to a few Articles for Creation participants, including you, to see if someone is able to review the proposed addition for accuracy and neutrality. Is this something you might be willing and able to help with? If you are not interested, no problem, I am just not sure where else to ask for help for the edit request I submitted over a month ago. Thanks for your consideration. MadisonfromStanding (talk) 13:03, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

Dear Dodger67, Thank you for your edits today. I would appreciate it if you would put vandalism protection on this page. Perhaps semi-protect this page, since it is a school and the page has become an outlet for students to vent frustrations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RealSDP (talkcontribs) 15:36, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

RealSDP, it would be helpful if you gave a link to a specific page, since there seems to be at least five Diocesan School for Girls. Primefac (talk) 15:41, 17 March 2017 (UTC) (talk page stalker)
I've got it Primefac, it's Diocesan School for Girls, Grahamstown. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 15:48, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
RealSDP, there have been only two incidents of vandalism so far this year, so the page does not currently need protection. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 15:48, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

I got the signature part so far...

Johnbplett (talk) 14:10, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi Johnbplett, apologies for taking so long to reply. The current draft about CIPC in your sandbox has several problems, but let us address the major one first. You need to base the article on independent sources such as mainstream news media and academic publications that discuss the CIPC in significant detail. The notability of an organisation depends on what outsiders (journalists, academics, etc) have published about it. Publications by the organisation itself or by its members, associates, agents, employees, etc. are of no use to prove notability.
On Wikipedia we do not actually write directly about the subject of the article, we write about what other people (the independent sources) have already written (and reliably published) about the subject. You could get some good assistance at WP:WikiProject South Africa, the users there may be able to point you to good sources and give you more specific advice. Oak & Cane Company page draft

Please reference the Bacardi page we followed similar context and format. The writing style was plain and matter of fact. Only liquor industry terms were used. hello

Can you help me to open a bio page in wiki! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Islamborinca (talkcontribs) 08:49, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi Islamborinca, I have cleaned up the layout of your draft. The biggest problem you have that must be solved before the draft can be accepted is proving your Notability. In your case the notability standard for academics is most relevant. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:35, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

Hey, thank you so much, I think I do part in one of those criteria so before I resubmit, tell me what to do please! 1. The person's research has had a significant impact in their scholarly discipline, broadly construed, as demonstrated by independent reliable sources. 2. The person has received a highly prestigious academic award or honor at a national or international level. 3. The person is or has been an elected member of a highly selective and prestigious scholarly society or association (e.g., a National Academy of Sciences or the Royal Society) or a fellow of a major scholarly society which reserves fellow status as a highly selective honor (e.g., Fellow of the IEEE).[2] 4. The person's academic work has made a significant impact in the area of higher education, affecting a substantial number of academic institutions. 5. The person holds or has held a named chair appointment or distinguished professor appointment at a major institution of higher education and research (or an equivalent position in countries where named chairs are uncommon). 6. The person has held a highest-level elected or appointed administrative post at a major academic institution or major academic society. 7. The person has had a substantial impact outside academia in their academic capacity. 8. The person is or has been the head or chief editor of a major, well-established academic journal in their subject area. 9. The person is in a field of literature (e.g., writer or poet) or the fine arts (e.g., musician, composer, artist), and meets — Preceding unsigned comment added by Islamborinca (talkcontribs) 10:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

Islamborinca, you need to find and cite sources that prove that you do qualify under at least one of those criteria. Which of them do you believe you qualify under? Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 10:38, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

I edited all citations that show that I am a ver well known psychologist and my tv shows and papers! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Islamborinca (talkcontribs) 11:31, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

Islamborinca. Firstly, please do not create a whole new section every time you post here, post your reply directly in this section by editing the section.
I'm afraid your referencing is no good, do not simply throw all the references in a huge pile at the bottom of the article, you must place each reference after the specific claimmthat it supports, see Referencing for beginners. Do not reference Youtube, it is not a reliable source. -- Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 11:44, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

Sir Samuel Fludyer, 3rd Baronet

Hi Dodger. Thanks for your comment about context: I have tried to beef that up, and resubmitted. the context within Wikipedia is the Fludyer Baronets page: There are dead links to three of the baronets who were pretty dull, a live link to the first who was pretty interesting, and no link to the third who was less dull than the others. Hence the stab at an article. Cheers SaundersW (talk) 17:59, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi SaundersW Good improvements, I've done a few minor fixes, added a proper References section. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 18:21, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

Request on 18:28:57, 20 March 2017 for assistance on AfC submission by Greeneshadow

Requesting re-review of Draft of Oak & Cane (company). We referenced the layout and format of the Bacardi page. All information that was published was as neutral as one can get from an industry standpoint. Information posted was plain language and matter of fact. Please notate where edits need to be made so we can be informed on how to appropriately make edits. Instead of having to recreate from scratch can you please re instate Draft article. The purpose of Draft mode is to know how to accurately layout content suitable to community guidelines. Again please clarify which copy you saw as Advertising.

Greeneshadow (talk) 18:28, 20 March 2017 (UTC)

Greeneshadow, I'm afraid if you think your draft is anything like the Bacardi article you're delusional, to put it mildly very mistaken. I have no idea why you're fixated on "layout and format" when the problem is a total lack of worthwhile substance. Junk stays junk, no matter how prettily it is laid out. The Bacardi company is over 150 years old and has a well established worldwide reputation. More importantly, from the point of view of a Wikipedia article, people have written extensively about the Bacardi company, in a multitude of newspapers and even books. More than half of the Bacardi article is about the company's history, and it is well referenced from many solid sources. By comparison your draft is simply an advert for a wannabe company that is still wearing diapers. My sincere advice is to drop it, you're wasting not only your time, but also that of the reviewers who have to keep checking the hopeless draft. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 10:57, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Please do not call new editors "delusional" and their work "hopeless". This was a key reason why you had a small amount of opposition at the RfA, and I'd hate to see them being proved right :-( Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:15, 28 March 2017 (UTC)
Point taken, thanks Ritchie333. Apologies to Greeneshadow, the draft is unfortunately highly promotional and the subject does not comply with the notability standard for companies. -- Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 17:14, 28 March 2017 (UTC)

Ding Han Liang's article

Hi, just want to enquire on my page Luxy (app). Just want to know is there any chance for me to resubmit my article for you guys to check again? Before that, I was't really sure about what you guys are looking for, so I keep making the same mistake without realising the main problem. Cause I've already change the whole format of the article and using more site citation that is more to what you guys suggested me to, like New York Times blog. I do hope that I still get the chance to submit it one more time. Thank you, hope to see your reply! --Dinghanliang (talk) 11:40, 27 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi Dinghanliang I'm afraid that might be rather difficult. Any new draft must properly address the problems that led to it being deleted. Repeatedly recreating the same promotional draft that also fails to demonstrate the subject's notability is not going to solve the issue. In my opinion the subject is simply not (yet) notable, perhaps in future it may gain some attention from independent commentators and critics, but that has apparently not happened yet. The sources cited in the deleted draft appear to be the product of PR and marketing writers rather than independent journalism. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 17:28, 28 March 2017 (UTC)

--Dinghanliang (talk) 08:29, 29 March 2017 (UTC)Hi, thanks for your message. The deleted page is still cited with the product of PR and marketing writer. What I'm saying is, previously I've been doing the editing not knowing what is the problem and I have been editing the content instead of the citation source. Now I now know the main problem is the citation source and have already edited a new version which included all citation with independent journalism, but I could't have the chance to resubmit to let you guys have a look. Hope this helps clear the confusion. Thank you!

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited South African Republic, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ndebele language. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

News and updates for administrators from the past month (March 2017).

Administrator changes

Guideline and policy news

  • Following a discussion on the backlog of unpatrolled files, consensus was found to create a new user right for autopatrolling file uploads. Implementation progress can be tracked on Phabricator.
  • The BLPPROD grandfather clause, which stated that unreferenced biographies of living persons were only eligible for proposed deletion if they were created after March 18, 2010, has been removed following an RfC.
  • An RfC has closed with consensus to allow proposed deletion of files. The implementation process is ongoing.
  • After an unsuccessful proposal to automatically grant IP block exemption, consensus was found to relax the criteria for granting the user right from needing it to wanting it.

Technical news

  • After a recent RfC, moved pages will soon be featured in a queue similar to Special:NewPagesFeed and require patrolling. Moves by administrators, page movers, and autopatrolled editors will be automatically marked as patrolled.
  • Cookie blocks have been deployed. This extends the current autoblock system by setting a cookie for each block, which will then autoblock the user if they switch accounts, even under a new IP.

Hey Dodger -

I've accidentally moved the page "Laurie Buchanan" to totally the wrong place. It's now caught up in a redirect and a draft on my talk page and I can't seem to revert it which is incredibly annoying. Your help would be much appreciated in either moving it back to where it belongs on my user page or directly uploading to the Wikipedia mainspace it's self. Lt Col Wessels

Disagree. This is meant to be a list of Ocs. That why it says commander 1, Commander 2 etc etc. Col Wessels was also a victim of a crime at 1 sai which is historically significant. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.113.27.66 (talk) 19:10, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

Please see the documentation of Template:Infobox military unit, the commander fields are intended for current commanders only. However, there is another field "notable_commanders" for former commanders who are notable, meaning that a biographical article about them exist on WP. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 19:20, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
@Dodger67:Here go again, see latest at 1 SAI. Rollback once, now asked the editor to have commander moved to notable commander. Doubt he is still running the unit. Regards Paul. Conlinp (talk) 10:06, 4 April 2017 (UTC)

Posted back

It seems you may have already established an opinion but I will give it go here with some more information. The two cornerstone patents discussed as evidence of the origination of the truly disonnected driver's license were granted 2015 and 2016 are notable and have changed the landscape of identity like we have never envisioned before. The up coming One World Identity Washington DC May 2017 Conference has made IBM the key note speaker due to this disuptive technology of which I created and worked on for three years. You cannot buy the key note speaker role as One World Identity must be neutral as the leader in disseminating information. I certainly get an email from them for you if you wish. In One World Identity's own words “This is truly is changing the Identity landscape and is the only real solution they have seen to date”. At this conference we will present a live deployed working model with the audience. For the Wiki I haved edited the personal interest and will remove the career section which simply leaves the intro and the two facts of the patents. Like I said I simply took an example which was not a very good one to derive a new wiki. I also mentioned I want to include in the web page a pictured discussion of how the disconnected model works but have not done that as I cannot upload pictures (yet). One fact though is that over 100M people in the USA will be using my algorithm and already 100s of millions of people around the world use my chat patent seamlessly of which I am the lead inventor unlike others documented as co-inventor.

The Wiki math discussion is made quite elegant and easy to read. So let me know. This is epic and no more plastic cards for anything required. Imagine you can have your fishing/hunting license on your phone and be in the middle of no where for a phone connection and still prove your license. You have total control of your privacy to hand out to verifiers asking for context information such as a bartender.

Give the article a read the Math section which has an example. I have removed the career and the personal interests. I used Wiki Jerry Cuomo as a template of which seems to break all sorts of Wiki rules. Mine is directed toward who created the Digital Driver's License and why (how does it work).

have a great day

23:39:25, 26 April 2017 review of submission by Nenebird

I'm asking for help in understanding why this author isn't notable enough to add to wikipedia? Or, if the problem is with my references? I'd like to know more about why it wasn't approved and what I can do to make it better. If possible, please advise me with more specificity. Are there specific things I didn't reference?

Hi Nenebird the problem is indeed the sources. None of the ones you have currently cited are both independent and reliable. Her publisher, agents or other associates and anyone trying to sell her books, are not independent because they have a direct interest in promoting her and her work. On the other hand, bloggers, wikis and other "amateur" writers are not reliable sources because there is no professional oversight and fact-checking of their writing.
To prove her notability we need articles about Bonds written by professional literary critics, journalists, academics; published by mainstream national or at least statewide newspapers, literary magazines, commercial book publishers, etc. Take a look at the types of sources referenced in Stephanie Bond (author) or Haywood Smith as examples of what we need for this article to be acceptable. Question regarding declination of an AFC submission

Hi there, I noticed that you resubmitted another user's draft (User:Rterrelo/sandbox) only to immediately decline it again, how come? The edit before was when I declined it. Thanks for your time. --TheSandDoctor (talk) 05:18, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi TheSandDoctor, I don't know what happened there. I see my review was very soon after yours, so I suspect there may have been an "overlap" between us, that your decline happened after I had already opened the review script at my end. I don't think it's of any great concern. The submitter now has two issues pointed out to them, instead of just one at a time, which is a shortcomming of the review tool that we've discussed many times over several years. Thanks for helping me with the draft! :-) I really appreciate it! I removed the google drive links from further reading. Would you mind checking again, if they are ok now and if not let me know how to improve them for acceptance? Thanks so much, really appreciate it!User:AnRoCa) (talk) 10:55, 3 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi Dodger67. I am not an experienced editor, but am a member since 2008 (I think). I created the page because another editor removed many charities from the 'List of charities in the Philippines' bringing it down to about 5, because they had no articles on themselves. That is hardly a list of charities in a country of 120 million, where 50% are in poverty. I also see that some of those listed have only about 2 citations. Some have links to their own website, in 'cites' which I was unaware was allowed. I would like to put up the article and hopefully somebody else would improve on it, but now I will put some more content. I would also like to create some more articles about other charities here, like PREDA.org etc. Please enlighten me on how many cites are needed and if cites to a charity's own website, like say for projects are allowed. If the latter is not allowed, then there will be only 3 qualifying charities on the list. Thank you for taking your time in reading my comment. Boopolo (talk) 14:53, 5 May 2017 (UTC)

Do a favor for me?

I started m:Events/Accessibility last week, and I wonder how you would improve it. Would you like to give it a go? My main goal with the disability-specific section is to get people thinking outside the wheelchair-shaped box (I mostly went with common disabilities), but I'm thinking about access very broadly here. I'd be happy to see your ideas. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 05:20, 28 April 2017 (UTC)

Whatamidoing (WMF) I like what you've written so far. Organizers should try to verify claims of accessibility by venues, often they are only nominally compliant, but not practically usable - "accessible" toilets used as broom closets is common issue. I'm one of the "wheelchair-shaped box" people, so perhaps we should get input from Wikipedians with a wider variety impairments or impediments, such as Graham87 who is blind, and others. A note dropped at relevant Wikiprojects (disability, autism, deaf, etc) should be useful. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 07:24, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, Roger, for the ping. @Whatamidoing (WMF): I too think it's a good start. I've copyedited it and added a bit about Braille. Not all blind people would want or need Braille hard copies of things, especially those with access to a portable refreshable braille display or those who aren't strong Braille readers, but I for one would find it useful and have made requests along these lines in the past. Another thing that might be worth mentioning (but I'm not sure where, because it encompasses several disabilities) is transport to the venue; all other things being equal, it'd be best if a venue is close to accessible public transport, but where that isn't possible, private transport (e.g. coaches, taxis) should be as universally accessible as possible. Graham87 08:48, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
Graham87 & Whatamidoing (WMF) Great point about accessibile transport, why didn't I think about that! I'm also not sure where to put it, but I'll have a go after lunch. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:38, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
I simply slotted it in at the top/intro, move or edit if you wish. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 13:39, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
Roger, I started with you on purpose. I need people who aren't thinking the same way as me, and you're especially good at stepping outside of your own POV.
Graham, the point about transport is brilliant. Please add whatever you want (the whole page; please don't restrict yourself to any single section), and bring in anyone you want. I've asked User:Trizek (WMF) to encourage people at the French project to help with this page, too. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 16:57, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
Whatamidoing (WMF), this is probably not a good fit under "accessibility" but it should be said somewhere.
Catering - if food is provided, try to accommodate the following as far as possible:
  • Avoid common allergens; nut and seafood allergies can be particularly severe and can be triggered by even very slight contamination.
  • Provide for common dietary restrictions and preferences such as kosher, halal, vegetarian.
Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 08:09, 3 May 2017 (UTC)
We have a line for "Food and drink" under disability-specific issues. It mentions food allergies, lactose intolerance, and diabetic diets. (I'm sure that the list could go on at significant length, but it's a reasonable start.) Since it's already on the subject of food, Trizek added a line about people who don't want to eat a particular food, which covers everything from religious restrictions to someone on a weight-loss diet to the indisputable fact that green bell peppers taste bad. 😉
I'm not certain about the value of naming specific allergens. The prevalence of allergens vary by place (e.g., sesame allergy is common in Israel but unusual in North America, rice allergy is more common in Japan than in the Europe, etc.). Also, it is possible to have a minor allergy to nuts, or to have a deadly allergy to, say, apples. An event organizer could carefully exclude any Big 8 allergen from the entire venue and still have a participant unable to eat.
I've thought about adding "Please ask participants to tell you about food allergies and dietary restrictions in advance", because last-second accommodation is difficult. OTOH, an easy, open-ended request does occasionally get abused by people claiming to have allergies to all the foods they dislike, etc. There are some ways to discourage this (e.g., ask people to separately report medical problems vs religious problems vs personal preferences), but I'm not sure how to improve what we've got without writing a whole page on the subject. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 18:50, 3 May 2017 (UTC)
I didn't make any progress on dietary restrictions, but I did finally add mobility impairments.
What do you think about mentioning smoking? It's sort of a non-issue here in California, since smoking tobacco is banned in almost all buildings (except private homes). Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 23:59, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
Whatamidoing (WMF), I think people would generally respect the rules applicable to the location, but there's no harm in mentioning it. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 05:20, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
Something along the lines of "Choose a smoke-free venue, because some people have asthma"? Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 15:56, 9 May 2017 (UTC)

Couldn't find enough copyvios to actually delete, but I think I might have missed something. If so, please re-tag so I can take another crack at it. Primefac (talk) 17:29, 12 May 2017 (UTC)

20:58:56, 12 May 2017 review of submission by Yolanda8701

Hi, I saw your response. I wanted to clarify that I did try to edit the page and was told that I needed to submit a draft to review. So the draft you saw had a lot of what was left on the original page for "Easter Seals." Based on the links you provided, a lot of the content that was already in the page originally had copyvios. I fixed both my errors and the errors already on the page in a new draft but before I submit, I want to make sure I'm following the process correctly. Should I just edit the original page now or submit a draft to you? Yolanda8701 (talk) 20:58, 12 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi Yolanda8701 please edit the original article directly. The AFC process is only for entirely new articles, AFC even has a standard "rubber-stamp" decline notification for drafts that are about the same subject as an existing article. Wikipedia has a strict "one subject - one article" policy. By the way, if you are particularly interested in disability and related issues please feel free to sign up to WikiProject Disability. There you will find like-minded fellow editors with whom you can discuss any relevant matters. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 21:14, 12 May 2017 (UTC)

Pavanmaverick (talk) 02:59, 15 May 2017 (UTC)

Thank you for your advice

Hello

Thank you for your input on my draft article Draft:South Australian State Emergency Service. I was hoping to clarify somethings... I am in the process of adding more detail to the article, about history & so on. I've written a bit, using news sites as my sourcing. Would you be able to give it a once over please? Where should I include it for you to look?

I think the articles I reference may only "mention" the SASES, which may be an issue. Also, a lot of the reports about the SASES are published by the organisation themselves.

The sister organisation to the SASES, South Australian Country Fire Service already has a page. The referencing doesn't seem much more extensive than what I already have. Can you please point out where the difference is?

Sorry to ask for so much hand holding. Thank you in advance.

Kind regards KaiRAWR (talk) 07:00, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

KaiRAWR You're right about the fire service article, it is indeed very poorly sourced. I have now tagged it for improvement. Short of convincing some independent writer to write a book, such large volunteer organisation do have difficulty getting proper independent coverage. The thousands of mentions in the general press also make online searching for more substantial sources very difficult. A visit to a large public, state or academic library may be productive, because not everything is online. -- Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 08:09, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

Colonel Edmond J. BUCKLEY

Dodger67, thanks for your note on Gbawden's rejection of the Col Edmond J Buckley item, I kind of disagree that an item about a military person should be rejected because most of the references are from military community, if you're on Guadalcanal or in a secure military building in DC odds are that's only group that would write about you. Since Col Buckley is so famous in USMC Intelligence and mentioned in many USMC histories not to mention several Wikipedia pages, I was thinking I'd get this one started and a lot of Marine history buffs would add to it, but I'll surrender and go back to my usual role of making minor edits. I enjoy the site and appreciate you following up with comments. I really disagree with Gbawden's rejection because he's just another soldier, he's a Marine not a soldier, so not even worth replying to Gbawden. Trng Educ History (talk) 17:11, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi Dodger67 and thank-you for your message on my talk page relating to the approval of the Local search engine optimisation. I am contacting you to seek your kind advise. On top of the page one can read a little notice saying "This article is an orphan, as no other articles link to it. Please introduce links to this page from related articles". The first thing I tried, has been to go to the search engine optimisation page and add a link within the list of links part of the "internet marketing series". This is visible on the right side of the page. Unfortunately I have not managed to make the edit. Could you please advise of how one should make this specific edit? thank-you in advance for your kind help Josezetabal (talk) 06:23, 2 May 2017 (UTC)

Josezetabal The Internet marketing "box of links" is a WP:NAVBOX which is a type of WP:TEMPLATE. It is a separate page Template:Internet marketing which is WP:TRANSCLUDED into other pages. Editing a navbox should not generally be done without first consulting other interested editors, by posting on Template talk:Internet marketing. -- Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 06:57, 18 May 2017 (UTC)
Dodger67 thank-you for your kind answer, much appreciated - best Josezetabal (talk) 05:19, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

The Reever Knot

Dodger67, Could you please clarify why you feel this submission is not suitable for Wikipedia. Wikipedia has many articles on Knots. The Reever Knot is described elsewhere in the literature but not in Wikipedia. I have endeavoured to follow the general format that has been used for describing other knots in Wikipedia such as Hunter's bend, Zeppelin bend, Ashley's bend Peterkovesi (talk) 14:02, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi Peterkovesi to solve the WP:NOTGUIDE issue the article needs to concentrate more on the history and application of the knot, and reduce the "step by step" how-to guide content. In the History section you currently only mention that the knot appears in various books, expand that by briefly summarising what each of those books actually say about it. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 14:30, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

Coup attempts

I keep refining but, what is essay???? not sure how to proceed towards a wiki page.... OR will this item ultimately be quashed??? Let us eat lettuce (talk) 14:00, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

Dodger, this user is disruptively ignoring the advice I have already provided at their user page. Specifically, I advised them to click on the various links in the various comments people have already provided trying to be helpful. Obviously, this user is refusing to do that. I say this based on fact they are asking you "what is essay? [sic]" despite the wikilinks to WP:ESSAY they were given as part of the multiple AFC rejections. Instead they're bugging you to explain. See WP:DISRUPTSIGNS point number 5. NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 14:13, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

I was refining in attempts to reach an acceptable wiki page. I was trying to comply.. Let us eat lettuce (talk) 22:11, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

The deletion discussion contains all the reasons why it can mever be a proper article - the draft is basically a bunch of right-wing conspiracy theory nonsense. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 05:15, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
Okay. I have edited my sandbox and propose the new Trump resistance section. It was stated by others that wiki is under-developed. Maybe the sandbox draft is worthy of resubmission for inclusion in the Trump resistance wiki without being considered as merely "a bunch of right-wing conspiracy theory nonsense"... I would like to make a contribution, if appropriate. btw, isn't my Sandbox my appropriate workspace for development of ideas? Why is it "delete material" by others? Dodger if you ever need help or want to collaborate in the future, please let me know! I appreciate your quality work. :) Megalibrarygirl (talk) 17:58, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

Megalibrarygirl Thanks for the kitty! If you're up for a challenge, please see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Disability#The "Disability by country" article creation project seems to have stalled, let me know if you might be interested in assisting. We could really use someone with good research skills and access to a decent library. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 18:37, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

Will do! Thanks for the heads up. I'd be happy to help out. :) Megalibrarygirl (talk) 23:07, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
Wow! That's a huge list! I'll take a stab at a few. Yemen caught my eye because I once wrote an article about a Yemeni woman who was blind, went to college and set up an NGO for people with visual impairment. I'd like to get Women in Red to do an editathon about women with disabilities and activists who support people with disabilities in the near future. BTW, do you know if WP:Disability has a cheat-sheet of sorts for writing about people with disabilities? I'm not always 100% sure if I'm using correct terminology all the time. Thanks! Megalibrarygirl (talk) 23:23, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
Megalibrarygirl that list is huge because it is comprehensive - every current country is included. The project's style guide is over here. About editathons, Penny Richards has some experience and Jackiekoerner is also a good editor to get on board. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 05:27, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
Hi Megalibrarygirl, I'll be on more now that the semester has finished and I'm not traveling so much. Feel free to contact me if you need anything, even if it's just another person reading something for feedback. I'm glad to help. Jackiekoerner (talk) 12:43, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
Megalibrarygirl I'd love to see WIR do an editathon on women in disability history/rights/culture, if we can generate a worklist for that. I've tried a little for myself, and we got something going for the Dart editathon a couple years ago, but it was really US-focused and mostly men and organizations. Happy to help if this is something we want to add to WIR worklists, though!- Penny Richards (talk) 13:24, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the link to the style guide, Dodger67. I think I was surprised that so many countries weren't covered, though. It seems like something Wiki should have finished ages ago, but content gaps abound. @Penny Richards and Jackiekoerner: I started a redlist for women with disabilities or women involved in disability activism here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Disability. It's kind of small at the moment, though. I'm glad there's a lot of interest! :D Megalibrarygirl (talk) 18:12, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
Megalibrarygirl Several of our existing biographies of women disability rights activists are short and underdeveloped, so check Category:Disability rights activists (and subcats) for potential improvement. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 18:26, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
Awesome! Will do! :) Megalibrarygirl (talk) 18:55, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
Megalibrarygirl not so small anymore! Plenty for an editathon now. Penny Richards (talk) 17:58, 2 June 2017 (UTC)
Thank you Penny Richards! Megalibrarygirl (talk) 17:05, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
Megalibrarygirl Impressive list! Do they all pass notability? From my experience at AFC and elsewhere I've found that overestimating subject notability is a fairly common problem with editathon article creations. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 17:25, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, but I just started the list. Penny Richards really filled it out! I think it helps lend credence to notability that most of the entries have at least one reference link. :) Megalibrarygirl (talk) 17:37, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
Nearly all the reference links are to biographical dictionary entries (like Australian Dictionary of Biography) or New York Times obituaries; I figure that's a good place to start. I did try to choose the names that seemed most likely to pass notability (and be interesting and have good sources), but sometimes it's hard to tell until you actually try writing the article. - Penny Richards (talk) 18:43, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

17:59:53, 2 June 2017 review of submission by Toglenn

Hi Doger67, I believe I've addressed the reasons you gave for declining my article on Zepparella. I've added independent references to everything that is stated in the Article. If there is anything you think I still need to do before resubmission, please let me know. Thank You Very Much!!! Glenn Francis (talk) 17:59, 2 June 2017 (UTC)

Toglenn the referencing is much improved, I'm not sure that the long list of External links is justified, particularly the magazine articles and reviews. Try to use more of them as sources so that they become references instead of external links. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 17:37, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

THANK YOU Dodger67 for approving Zepparella! Much Appreciated!!! I honestly don't know which ones to keep and which ones are unnecessary. Can you tell me which ones to delete, or can you just delete them. Thanks! Glenn Francis (talk) 19:48, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

Toglenn I'm not really the right person to make those decisions, the topic is a bit outside my comfort zone. However I've put a relevant maintenance tag on the page, that would attract attention from folks more familiar with the topic and the sources. You've put in the effort to start the article, the best thing for now is to leave it, move on to other topics. Getting too attached to one topic or article tends to cause "ownership" problems. Just watch the article (from a distance) as the community of your fellow editors develop it further. If you have a particular interest in rock music you could take a look around WP:WikiProject Rock Music where you will find fellow editors who share the interest, they can suggest things that need doing. (I'm off to bed shortly, it's getting late at this end) Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 20:10, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

Thanks Doger67 for your excellent advice, I appreciate it. Glenn Francis (talk) 00:53, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

12:32:44, 5 June 2017 review of submission by LannaM

Hi! I'd like to know more about why the article looks like an advertisement. Which sections of the text needs reviewing? Or is the article style altogether?

Thanks!

Hi LannaM have you read the review comments at the top of the draft as well as on the draft's talk page yet? They explain why the draft is not acceptable. (Read the grey boxes as well as the supplementary comments below the pink review templates.)
The fact that the promotional language is not glaringly obvious to you makes me wonder if you have a close association with the subject or have written the draft as part of your job? If so, you are required to comply with the mandatory Paid-contribution disclosure policy. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 13:34, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
Hi Dodger67! I made a disclosure in User:LannaM and I belive it also shows up on Draft_talk:Mauricio_De_Maio. Is this enough? Also, if you have the time, please let me know if the draft is acceptable now. I made some changes. Thanks a lot!

If my page was considered an ad or promotion : why does this page get a free pass? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZoneMinder Why was your judgement impartial here? I understand it may not specifically be you but you are all following the same guidelines, no? Now that you are aware my page was more an encyclopedia page than the one mentioned, will you return my page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Moeiscool22 (talkcontribs) 03:25, 5 May 2017 (UTC)

Moeiscool22 Please see WP:OTHERSTUFF. If you think ZoneMinder should be deleted please go ahead and nominate it. -- Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 05:22, 5 May 2017 (UTC)

Why does every wiki "authority" say the same thing. My post was based on the one mentioned.

I have shown you that it meets less standards than mine did.

Please take actions against pages that mislead people into getting their pages deleted... In essence you are telling me my page meets the criteria for being accepted but when time comes for your personal opinion it's a no.

Its not my job to find broken Wikipedia posts, that's your job. please see to it that zoneminder is updated so it does not mislead anymore people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Moeiscool22 (talkcontribs) 16:06, 5 May 2017 (UTC) I guess logic is not something Wikipedia cares about. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Moeiscool22 (talkcontribs) 15:44, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

Moeiscool22, apologies for taking so long to reply. You have been told what the notability standard is and also that the existence of one article is not relevant to the existence of any other article. Please read the guidelines and policy pages that have been pointed out to you, then if you have any further question or request please take it up with the Teahouse, a help venue that specializes in assisting new users. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 16:41, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

lol... completely ignores what I say. I guess it's time to start building a wikipedia alternative if there isn't one already. Just know its behavior like yours that is causing wikipedia to die if it isn't already dead. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Moeiscool22 (talkcontribs) 17:44, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

Just picking up on this Roger, I have nominated Zoneminder for deletion as it doesn't seem to be possible to write a neutral encyclopedia article about it, and the article doesn't give you anything you can't find elsewhere on the net in more detail. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:17, 20 June 2017 (UTC)

Simon Mark Smith

I have now done an edit that focuses on the notability issue which I believe is significant and would like to debate this further before this article is deleted please.

Best wishes

Hi Simon1a please articipate in the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Simon Mark Smith, thanks. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 12:12, 23 June 2017 (UTC)

How?

--Nwachinazo (talk) 09:59, 4 July 2017 (UTC)@Dodger67, can you be more specific about your claims that the references of my article Draft:Whiteplains British School (WBS)? I mean you should point out the references in the article that you think are directory-type list or profile linking to the school, so that I can make corrections. However, from my assessment the article's references (many of which) are from media (online) and websites that significantly cover the subject upon which I wrote, and do not have conflict of interest. I may think you are being unfair to say that the article lacks notability. Besides, this article has often been reviewed by Jimfbleak, one of the administrators here who has made some edits. I think you should thoroughly review again and see if justice could be done.

Hi Nwachinazo I think if you follow the good advice that Jimfbleak has given you, the article will probably be acceptable. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 12:47, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

Yes, I do and will always. I have communicated with Jimfbleak and he did raise some observations specific to what you noted. On these, I have made some fundamental edits. You can take a keen look at the article now and see if I am probably fair with some refs.--Nwachinazo (talk) 12:56, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

Sortable tables

Hi Roger, you asked me to change the chronological order of the Filmography and Television tables for "Kim Roberts" page. The tables, as they are now, are sortable, you can change the order by clicking on the "Year" column. Do I still need to change the order? Thanks for your help. Kevinyearwood (talk) 14:50, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi Kevinyearwood, that's a good solution. In biographies the chronology is earliest to most recent - birth to death. By contrast a resumé puts the most recent events up front. On Wikipedia we do biographies, never resumés. Are you working on anything new? Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 15:34, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

Thank You

Thank you Godger67 for your review. I have made new edits as you advised. Please do take a look and comment if necessary.--Nwachinazo (talk) 09:14, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

Nwachinazo I'd rather leave it to the next reviewer. At AFC reviewers try to avoid re-reviewing the same draft multiple times to prevent it becomming affected by the biases of a single reviewer. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:18, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

@Dodger67,that sounds quite interesting. Wikipedia is a place for objectivity to avoid the danger of a single story. Is the convention or the norm in reviewing articles in Wikipedia? Anyway, your help is still needed to me.However, what do you think about this article? How long will it take for the article to be finally accepted?--Nwachinazo (talk) 09:30, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi Roger, just a quick thank you for merging my article with the existing article. Cheers from newbie Tony. Tonytea51 (talk) 21:41, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

Tonytea51 If you're interested, there are many more surmane articles that need an introductory paragraph explaining the history of the name. If you would rather do something else, what type of topics are you interested in? Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 06:22, 7 July 2017 (UTC)

re WP Help Desk: My edits appear when logged in but not when logged out

Thanks Dodger67. In addition to clearing the Firefox cache I cleared the server cache and didn't get an error response, but the old version continued to appear in my browser.

However, this morning (12 hours later) the new version with my edits is coming in. So maybe waiting is the best solution. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nobosses (talkcontribs) 16:31, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

Nobosses It's strange how some changes are propagated throughout the site very quickly while others take some time to spread to all the relevant servers. If you're interested in the technicalities you could discuss it at the Technical Village pump. -- Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 06:27, 7 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi Jazeb786 the draft still has no references at all, please see the Referencing for beginners guide. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 06:23, 10 July 2017 (UTC)

Please see Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest/Noticeboard#Gupta_family where I put your name in the template. I'm not making any accusation about you, but you are obviously knowledgable about the articles, and I'm short of time for research right now. Any help appreciated. Reflist 2

Hi Dodger, need to add Reflist 2 to this page . If its not on this page the link to the SADF Army history reflist doesn't pull through. Please help. Kind regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Caracal Rooikat (talkcontribs) 10:18, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi Caracal Rooikat I don't understand what you mean. All {{reflist|2}} does is to arrange the references into two columns, but this is deprecated in favour of ratherspecifying the column width (usually 30em) and allowing each reader's screen size to determine how many columns appear. AFAIK there is no way to make reflist carry references over from a different page. A page can also only have one reflist template, extra ones are simply ignored. Exactly which pages are you talking about? Please post links to them. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 15:19, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
